Hey Mac, never got a chance to say thanks for organizing all of this!

Where is Gemma? Hope she's ok.....

Cyber Monday tomorrow!

starfish, thank you.

and a thank you to the others who have mentioned that also.

i have not heard from gemma.
i don't know her school schedule so don't know if she is at home or in the house by her school.

Barb & Tracie - Your Eagles are putting up a good fight against the Pats. I hope they can pull it off!

Holy CRAP!!!!....they're actually WINNING right now

And, I'm with Penny... none of the male-types that post on our thread are interested in our ornament exchange?!? What, is it too girly? Did Barb & I frighten them all with our discussion of not wearing underwear when we're home? :confused3

I would have thot the guys would think it's hot? ;) :confused3 (my other message board guys would have :rolleyes1 )

I haven't bought my ornament yet. I was waiting to see who I get and then shop with that person in mind.

me too :thumbsup2

Cyber Monday tomorrow!

Actually....Bubba & I are going shopping tomorrow :rolleyes1

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend..... was home all day and got some things accomplished....(which, is always good)....

KFed...ur house looks great! Awesome job! And I know for a fact I won't be posting any pix of our house...we don't really decorate the outside. I live on a dead-end street (nope, not even a cul-de-sac...just road, end, guardrail), so nobody drives by here to impress.... Just a few greens and bows outside is all we do! (Would still like to see Tricia's house tho :goodvibes )

Too tired to address everyone personally....but please know I do read and wish you all well and happiness each day...... please take my good wishes to heart individually ;)

I still wanna live there. just not with those creepy oompa loompa's...
I loved the Oompa Loompas - I thought Willy Wonka was the creepy one.

this darkness at 430 pm really sucks!
I admit it. it's me.
No it's not just you!! I think my mom must have done something to me in my childhood. Whenever it gets dark out, I think it is time for bed. The winters are tough - as soon as I get home from work, I think its time to go to sleep.

Back at work:sad2: I'm too lazy to read myself current.
Any good Black Friday stories?
My son and I went to K-Mart on Thanksgiving Day. Got there before it opened and wanted to get the doorbuster GPS thingie. They handed out tickets and the 16th guy in line didn't get one. They only had 15?
We devised a strategy for Friday. My son works at the hospital so he was going to borrow a wheelchair and have me ride in it until we got to the door. Then we would tip it over and wedge it in the door so no one else could get in. I suggested going down the center aisle at WalMart and tipping over a rack of plasma TV's. We didn't do either. I went to a 24 hour Walmart and was out 6 minutes after they started at 5. Wife went to a Walmart that opened at 5 and was trampled. Son went to Sears at the mall and we haven't seen him since.

Heck....sometimes when I DO get home from work, it IS time for bed :rotfl2: ...but, I see where you're coming from...I get the same way. :guilty: The first few weeks when it gets dark at 5pm makes me want to crawl into pj's and bed..... and it's dinnertime  :confused3 oh well...less than a month before we start gaining sunlight again! ;)

 & :rotfl: Glad to hear you had a nice weekend..... with all your running around, and mischievous planning, hope your family got some 'deals'......

Morning to everyone else.... :wave2: The Eagles ALMOST won last night....city is crying for Feeley to be starting QB and McNabb out.... :scratchin ....after all...he did do rather well....

My son & I are having a day of shopping.....if I'm not back later tonite....he killed me

Have a great day everyone!!!

Quick stop in this morning. I had a dentist appointment... just the twice a year pick-your-teeth-clean visit. My mom want to go to the mall, so if you don't hear from me until later, you'll know why. Think of me fondly while I'm holding my 35 pound hates to shop 2 year old as my mom takes her sweet time deciding what, if anything, she wants to buy.

i tell ya, the first person that sent me their 411 was penny, then katie, then marcie..........

well, I am monkish.......

Good morning all, my youngest has the day off skool (1st day of deer hunting season - yee-haw!)

Kfed - ur house is a sugarplum vision:cheer2:

elmer - we just throw junk out the front door for Xmas, where-ever it lands is fine (halloween takes it out of us lol). IMO a coating of snow will make anything look better!

marci - as a wise man once said -"I know you are but what am I"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=UVKsd8z6scw
...my only reply that's fit to print here directed towards punks/drunks @ sporting events. DH always freaks & thinks he's going to have to step in and protect the 'lil lady popcorn::

Okay guys, I'm trying hard here to catch up. I'm at least getting most of what I missed read, but in the meantime, you guys need to STOP TALKING!

Going WAAAYY back many pages to the person who wanted to move to Pittsburgh if they won the lottery, am I the only Calvin and Hobbes fan who thought of this cartoon?

We went out on Black Friday, in Detroit, which unfortunately was an hour earlier for us. So although we got up at 4:30, it was really 3:30 our time. We went to (in order), Circuit City, Toys R Us, Target, Meijers, another Target (to get something they didn't have at the first one!), Dunhams, Kohls, Walmart and then relaxed over a cup of hot chocolate at Panera Bread.

Then we headed home (already about 8am), showered, got the kids up and out of bed, went out for lunch (more brunch but felt like lunch to us by then!) and then went to the mall all afternoon and hit the Apple store, Disney store, Sharper Image, and Saks to get the kids pictures with Santa. The Saks by my folks' house has a thing where you buy a button of your kids with Santa and 100 percent of the proceeds go to Make-A-Wish. When we started, in 1995, the buttons cost $7. This year they were up to $25 so for the first year we only got 2 (usually one each for DH & I and one for Grandma). After we're done wearing them for the season, we put a string on them and turn them into ornaments for the tree. Have one each year back to then. Decided this year we'd only get the one for me and Grandma and try hard not to lose mine!

Visited with a bunch of friends that afternoon, went out for dinner with the grandparents, and by then of course we were exhausted. Home and collapsed! Off to the counselor at school now, so hopefully more later! Have a great Monday!

So what are housing values like in everyones part of the country?
The going rate here for new construction and anything built in the last 10 years is $110/sq ft at a minimum. Our house has doubled in value since it was built just 6 years ago. Land is at least $10000 an acre if you can find it. The thing is that there is absolutely nothing here. No stores, no restaurants, no nothing and we are at least 25 minutes from anywhere. Way to far out for the big city to be a suburb. It's just a small hick town that does not want to grow. The land is all owned by farmers (primarily dh's aunt & cousin) and they aren't selling.
The good thing about it is that we have a great small town school district. Lets just hope it can stay that way until we get out of here.

Land here in my small college town in Maine, which has around 15,000 folks, :goodvibes ranges from $150,000 for a 1/2 acre in a subdiv with public water/sewer to $100,000 an acre for a more rural lot with private well and sewer. The town used to be a farming area 20 to 30 years ago, now its considered a suburb of the larger city next to it. The average starter home is around $250,000. I work in a Real Estate company as an office manager. Most of our listings are in the $400K to $650K range. It's almost impossible for a young couple to come up with the downpayment for a home. :sad2:

Back at work:sad2: I'm too lazy to read myself current.

keisha is off the hook.

got her 411

and, she has 5 more sleeps until she goes bye bye.........

Oh, and the guys had a BLAST at the Packers/Lions game (obviously!). Some highlight quotes:

Lions fan: "Go back to Wisconsin!"
DH: We're going back Sunday!

Lions fan: "Get a life!"
DH: Get a team!

Another Packers fan: Wow - where'd you get the cheeseheads?
DH: Um...Walmart in Green Bay? :confused3

And DH and DS sat in the "Family Fun Section" (no profanity or alcohol). Said as the beer guy came around (they were on the very edge), he'd yell "Beer, beer", then when he got to their section "Happy Thanksgiving Family People!"

Funny line in the Detroit News today talking about Brett Favre's age along the lines of "Brett Favre is so old that he remembers when the Lions were good! Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration!"

Pics to follow (including Grandma's basset hound in a cheesehead!) once DH uploads them all!

good to hear you had a great family thanksgiving.
and a fantastic shopping expedition.

still waiting for the pics..........

Okay, Penny, I'll take a turn on the soapbox...

What is with weddings around the holidays? Yeah, yeah... I know. You can have your wedding whenever you want, wherever you want, it's your day blah, blah. Just don't expect much in the gift department if you choose a date that comes smack dab in the middle of the days that everyones wallet is already straining from giving gifts to everyone else.

Not only do I have to come up with gift, travel, and tux rental money for the boys for Idiot Nephew's wedding in January, but my mom just reminded me that my cousin's daughter is getting married next weekend. Thank goodness she's registered with Target.

I'll relinquish the soapbox for whoever is next... :rolleyes1

I came up with a solution to shopping with Mom this afternoon. We went to the mall and I told her that I would entertain the boys while she shopped and we'd meet back in an hour. Here's what I entertained the boys with:

Santa2007.jpg

Worked out well and everyone is happy! :thumbsup2

my soap box turn.........

got a call from one brother today.
the last time we talked on the phone was 1995.
he had to tell me who he was as i didn't catch the voice first time around.

he is asking that i go pick up my parents, 345 mile drive from my house, and take them to his son's wedding/my nephew. that wedding will be 100 miles north of them and on dec 29 in the late afternoon.

ok, i drive 345 miles to moms place. then i drive back north on the same highway 55 i traveled on that morning but only drive 100 miles that time.
then take the parents back to their house that evening another 100 miles south of there.
go to bed, get up the next day early and drive 345 miles home.

told brother...........ok, but i better be invited to the wedding. people might think it strange to see me there and wonder who i am.
brother said he will send out the invite. and told younger brother he should introduce me to the nephew as last time i saw him was when he was 4 years old. i assume he looks different now.
go to a wedding and don't know who the bride and groom are would be rather tacky

also told brother if there is an ice storm down st louis way or snow storm chgo way, all plans are off.

no one in their right mind that lives in this midwest area plans winter weddings. the weather is too unpredictable.

i have to be back home to take son to his doc appointment that monday.
can't risk getting stuck downstate..........i have to get his appointment and rx taken care of by end of the year and that is the monday.........

who is next?
