Hello Gang!

Just dropping by for a quick update - will go back and read what I missed later.

Long story short - My wonderful husband told me Sunday afternoon, that the new carpet would be installed on Wednesday. So - get the house cleaned up now. Monday night was the last night we had computer, tv, and a couch, as the living room was completely emptied out Tuesday morning. What a week!

And also - I had a hectic week at work and I also had a lovely cold to deal with.

So long, until I catchup with you all.

-Jennifer-

Don't eat before viewing! Or have a bucket handy.

now i'll find a bucket.
show me the link. i want to see what i am missing.

just wanted to let you know/will probably lurk for awhile; pasting from another thread...

hi friends, i'm crushed

my mom is doing okay, but my baby kittie Bommer has passed. 17 great yeears of friendhsip, has had a good life (i rescued him, abandoned by neighbor who moved); honestly - the best pet i've ever been blessed with. Thought i could keep him home until the end, held him for 2 days, didn't work out - appeared to be in pain so i had to have him put to sleep. Here's a picture with him helping decorate for halloween - isn't he adorable?
2007_1031confirmation0024.jpg

i read that and am besides myself.
i feel your grief.

Hi all-
Haven't had a chance to catch up.
THank you all for your thoughts and hugs!
I'm doing a little better emotionally today.

I really haven't had a chance to catch up with everyone. Janet, sorry to hear about your cat

Where's Mac? I need a hug from her, too!

i'm here for you rose.
i haven't been able to post but have tried to keep up reading.
went back 3 days to ketchup here.
i'll call you. i understand depression. hang in there.
prayers for you and the family.
i surely hope the bestest job in the world will turn up for mr rose.

hey homies, have been tied up with a family situation but i try to keep up on the reading.
i know i have not addressed everyone individually.
i love you all.

i'll get my act in gear soon and be back with you.

thanks for the hugs & kind words - most people just don't get it; cannot believe how much i miss him - keep remembering the good times and on a cleaning streak to keep me occupied.

Didn't get hurt, yet my middle DS had a fender bender today, that's 3 things; my family should now be officially over our "bad" limit (seem to come in 3's).

in a bit of a daze, can't keep up with the thread; hope to come back strong next week...i'll need cliff notes fer sure

hope you all have happy trails this weekend.

Sorry to hear about the kitty Janet...it's tough losing a pet and friend.

Hi all-
Well it's still been a crazy roller coaster ride :scared: :scared1:

Grandma's back in the hospital. I guess she is stable for now.
My mom called me at 9pm last night to say that Grandma was back in the ER and it looked like she wasn't going to make it. Well, Grandma did pull thru with flying colors during the night. She was transfered to ICU sometime last nite. Then went to a regular med-surg room this afternoon. I had to make some phone calls last night to other family members, esp to my aunt and uncle. They are listed second for power of attorney for Grandma. So they drove during the night to get here(from southern MO. to Chicago area). As my mom requested they should come here to help out with grandma.
Anyways my mom, aunt, and uncle visited Grandma at the hosp this afternoon. My mom had requested earlier otday, for me to come alone. So I left here at 2pm to head to the hosp. The hosp Grandma is at is a half-hour drive. Anyways, I just get to the hosp complex and my cell phone rings. DH is telling me that my mom called him at home and told me to turn around and jsut go back home, because I can visit Grandma tomorrow! My mom, aunt and uncle were going to be leaving in a couple of minutes and it owuld jsut be best if I went home, so as not ot screw up my mom's schedule :headache: You have to understand my mom is a control freak :sad2: Well, I had no clue where to park there anyways, b/c they did alot of construction last time I was at this hosp. and I couldn't even figure out where I was going to park and where to enter the hosp.b/c they are still doing construction there. So I went back home.
DH, I,the kids, my mom, aunt and uncle are suppsoed to meet ofr dinner at a restaurant soon.
Too crazy! :scared:

Thank you Mac and everyone for your hugs and concerns :goodvibes

Mac, you can try to call me on Monday if you want :)

Gotta run, as we are meeting for an early dinner now.

Gotta love these kids! DS12 (who has a 25 minute outdoor lunch recess) insisting this morning that short sleeves and a "hoodie" is enough to wear. Except it's currently 25 - with a wind chill of 17! Of course his polartec jacket is nowhere to be found, along with his golf jacket. What happens is I make him wear jackets, they make it to school, and never home again. We have conferences next week - I'll make him open his locker and probably come home with 10 jackets and hoodies! Dug an old jacket out of the closet while he complained it zipped on the wrong side. Yes, this weekend we're digging out the winter coats! And I know, you've all been wearing your winter coats since Labor Day too, right?

Marci - sounds like your DS12 and my DS12 are the same person!! Mine also thinks he can just wear a sweatshirt when its 30 degrees out! We also have more than one jacket in his locker and not at home!:confused3 I also see yours like the long shaggy hair look. This must be the new style.

Hi guys - checking back in! I was really planning on catching up yesterday. I normally have Fridays off, but the person who works Fridays was going to be out of town so I was covering (and building up extra hours so I can take a vacation someday - I don't get "vacation" with my job, I just have to make up all the hours, either before or after). Generally Fridays are completely dead, so I figured when everyone went home at lunch time, I'd have the afternoon to catch up online!

Well, it didn't work out that way! I actually ended up having to WORK all afternoon! What is this world coming to when they want you to work at work?

Meanwhile, the evenings have been completely full with the plays. We went to the first two nights, and while the play is good, really funny, and DS14 did a GREAT job in his part, it was also very long. Both nights play started at 7pm, and ended around 10. Okay last night when we could sleep in this morning but rough on Thursday night when DS still had homework and 20 minutes of taking of makeup when he got home!

We were able to video the play (well, the parts DS was in), but not take pics. No flash, and our camera makes a really obvious red light even if you don't use the flash. And if you cover the red light then it can't focus. I did order some pics from the professional photographers, along with a really nice photo journal of the play (similar to the book you can buy from photopass) that had DS' picture in it many times, but I'm sure it will be quite awhile until I actually get them so you guys will have to wait until then for pics.

Okay, breaking this up a little because if I type a full page post then none of you will read it! ;)

Janet - you have my sympathy. We went through that about 6 months ago with our cat. I posted it on the CB, but don't think I was on this thread yet? Anyway, we had to put ours down the day before her 18th birthday, so she was really close to your cat's age. It was really hard on the boys since of course the cats had been around since before the kids were born! Luckily we still have her sister, who seems to be doing fine still, which I think gave the kids someone to transfer their attention to. I know when we lose her (and that day can't be too far away) that it's just going to crush everyone. I don't know what to say to make it better? Maybe you can find some old pics of him over the years and share them with us? I know looking at old "kitten" pics made me smile, even when we were feeling really sad!

Rose - I'm sorry to hear about your situation too. Hopefully things are getting better with Grandma, and the "being sent home" part just wouldn't work for me! But I guess probably better not to stress your mom anymore when she's obviously pretty stressed out already. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Jaws (again I can't remember your name :rolleyes1 - okay, I'm hopeless). Usually DS12 (Eric) is the intelligent, cold one. It's always the older 2 I'm fighting with to wear more while he's bundling up. Guess he's started turning into a teenager a bit too early - sigh! I did ask him about his jacket and if he could check and see if it was in his locker, and he looked at me with a "duh" look and said "It is" (like where else would it be?).

Barb - I hate those soccer games when you SHOULD win and just don't. My oldest DS' team is playing indoor now and the coach signed them up for the JV division (high school) - they're all freshmen and sophomores, but a few of the boys played varsity in the fall (not my son). Well, they've won their first 2 games 10-2 and 9-0. Our indoor has all these wacky rules to try to keep the score from getting too lopsided - if you're ahead by 4, other team gets an extra player. Ahead by 7, you pull a player (so now playing 4 vs 6), plus all your players still have to two-touch the ball. So winning 9-0, with those restrictions, indicates we're in the wrong league! So they'll be moving up to varsity for the next season - should be a whole new ballgame (pun intended!).

Okay, that break was to be able to go back and read all the previous posts that I'm missing commenting on and not wanting to lose what I'd already written! I'm trying a larger font size. I couldn't understand why everyone was always complaining about not being able to read posts until I try to read them at work on a much smaller monitor and find myself putting my face up to the screen. You know how you roll over the posts on the main page and it gives you a preview in a little yellow box? I can't even being to read those at work! And yes, I know I should be working!

Just a few more comments and then I'll leave you guys alone for the evening. DH and I are heading out to our High School athletic fundraiser at a local sports restaurant. They'll have drinks and snacks and a silent and oral auction. We probably won't get anything, but will low-bid a bunch of the silent auction stuff just in case we end up winning. And see if there's anything we really "need"! Should be fun at least! Have to kill time somehow until DS gets picked up from his "afterglow" (post-play) party at midnight!

Okay - Tricia, I had to laugh at your "chicken-with-no-head" comment, especially I first read it (at work - what a surprise!) as "children-with-no-head" and was trying to figure out why your kids didn't have heads?! Okay, okay, I get it now!

Lori - I loved seeing the pics of Ally. Wow - I really expected her to look a lot older just from your descriptions (soccer games and everything else she's involved in). She just still looks so little! Glad to see any more pics from anyone?! How's the car situation coming? Did Michael get a car? What kind? How much did that affect the old insurance payments? Looking ahead for next March!

Am I the only one who has no idea of who Dog is? :confused3

Incidentally thanks for the "pickles" from those who've sent them, but I have NO space left in my siggie. At least that I have the knowledge to be able to use!

DH and DS15 are on their way home from the Michigan/Wisconsin game (here in Wisconsin). Not a good day to be a Michigan fan there! :sad2:

Meanwhile, DS12 had his piano Baroque competition this morning. For the FOURTH competition in a row, he came in 2nd place (out of about 20 kids at his level). While I acknowledge that this is good, and I'm proud of him and all that, I TOLD him this time that he had to get either FIRST or fourth or lower. See, now he has to attend a painful 2 hour recital of the top three kids from all 12 levels tomorrow. If he won, he'd get a $75 prize. But for second (or third), NOTHING! Just the "joy" of listening to 36 kids play long pieces (and I get to go "enjoy" this too since DH will again conveniently be out of town!). And yes, they make you sign in writing beforehand that you'll attend the recital if you're top three, or be banned from all further competition. So we're going. Did I mention - joy?!

Rose - So sorry about your grandma. Sending prayers your way.

Marcie - Ally looks young in those pics because they are from our big family trip in 2005. She was only 6 in them. I was able to recover a bunch of pics I thought I lost when my other computer crashed after I finally had it fixed. Thankfully they didn't have to do anything to the hard drive and all my pics were safe. I will be posting pics from our trips over the last couple of years.
Hmm, maybe tonight I can post pics from her outing to the BBB.

Penny - Here's my pics

Atlanta @ Carolina-definite toss-up

Okay, this is part of the reason I was so upset about my computer crashing. I just knew these pictures were gone forever & I had not made a copy of them.

This was December 23rd, 2006, Allyson's 8th birthday. This was her day from beginning to end. She planned the entire day. We started the day with breakfast at Donald's Breakfastosaurus then went straight to EE and rode it 4 times. Yeah that was a bit much on a full stomach  . After that we went on the safari ride then headed out of the park. Next was our appointment at the BBB followed by dinner at Chef Mickey's with a special birthday cake. She absolutely loved the BBB and thank me repeatedly and so sincerly over and over again. I was in tears! We ended her special day in the pool.

Here are some pics from that day:

She just has a little bit of hair!
