I hope that everyone has a great New Year' Eve. If you are going out.....stay safe!!:woohoo:

More snow here AGAIN!!! :scared1:

Rose- my BIL is getting married at the begining of July and my family of 4 is in the wedding party!!:worship:
I'm sure it will be fun but that is why I am soooo looking forward to our trip to Cancun at the end of February!! :yay:

Off to work early today. Hopefully it will be slow and I'll have a chance to check in here. Some pics to tide you over. These were taken on Christmas Eve, BEFORE the 5 inches of snow we got that evening, and the 4 inches of snow we got Saturday night, and the 3 inches we got last night. :sad2: When we were up skiing, we were talking to folks from Milwaukee who told us the rain melted all their snow. We were like, "rain?" :confused3 Yeah, somehow we didn't get in the warming trend. It did get up into the lower 40's on Saturday, which was just enough to melt the driveway before it froze and snowed again that evening so now our driveway and back patio are sheets of ice! Spent an hour out there last night chipping away at them. But hey - it's supposed to get up to 11 today - maybe everything will melt!? :rotfl:

Anyways, the first pic of our house:

IMG_2477.jpg

Looking next door into our neighbor's yard. The strip between our driveways is narrow (okay, maybe 10-15 feet) and it's always hard for both of us to keep from blowing our snow onto one another's driveways!:

IMG_2482.jpg

Looking the other way and at our front door. Remember those lights I told you about hitting the cord with the snowblower? They're the big (about a foot tall) bulbs that you put on stakes in the yard. Well in this picture, they're strung along the front walk. Unfortunately, you can't see any of them because they're now completely buried! I tried to remove them when I cut the cord, but of course they're frozen in the ground too. I don't think any of our Christmas lights will be coming down before Easter this year!

i have been waiting to use my old corny line. (I learned it when i was 8yo.)

Now, with coastermom's post, i can.....;)

See you next year Mary!

i told you it was corny. :rotfl:

Wow, my family is so spread out that I haven't even met all of my 1st cousins and nieces/nephews. I've never met a 2nd cousin that I recognized as such. 1st cousin once removed and great uncle are the most distant relatives I've had the privilege of meeting. That's great that your family is so close and stays in contact like that.
I don't know if all my family is close (distant wise and relational wise).
Most of everyone on my mom's side lives in the Chicago area(except my mom's sister and her DH). I don't see my mom's side that often, mostly weddings and funerals. My cousin Lisa is really the only cousin that keeps in touch with me on an ongoing basis. Everyone else I only hear from once in a great great while.
On my dad's side, dad's sister and her family were the only ones living here. All my other cousins, aunts, and uncles live in Italy. I see or hear from my first cousin on my dad's side once in a great while(the one living in my area).
My dad's 2 other sisters from Italy came here for a visit in the summer of 1997. That was a riot! They only spoke Italian and they were very loud  I remember we all went into downtown Chicago with them and went to Water Tower Place. One aunt was afraid of the elevator, the other one was afraid to take the escalator. It was quite funny :rotfl2:

My cousin is also getting married on July 4th weekend, in a different state. We are not part of the wedding party tho.

Marcie- enjoyed your pics :thumbsup2
We had all that snow too, then it melted during the thaw here last weekend :woohoo:

Mac- enjoy being downtown at the concert tonight!
Never heard of that band before, guess I should google them to see who they are.

Akdar- you will be busy tonight! Have fun!

Hope everyone has a safe New Years Eve!

We are going out to dinner I think and then come back home and just veg until midnight. Drink sparkling grape juice out of champaign glasses at midnight. DH doesn't like champaign. Welch's sparkling red grape juice is pretty good! :woohoo:

Is anyone going to PUI(post under the influence) tonight?? :lmao:
I know Trisha used to do that awhile ago

If I'm not back tonight, HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE and NEW YEARS DAY!!

Well...I just ordered dinner and will settle in for football a little later. I'm not going out tonight...to many drunks on the roads.

I'll check in later.

:wizard: :wizard: Hi All, just posting from the club at the Portofino...hold the drool, please.

They were so great with the gluten free thing--got us muffins and chocolate chip cookies from whole foods... and my dd15 and I have been REALLY enjoying the spa that comes with club. No one is ever in the whirlpool there and we love all of the toiletries that are in there.;)

Great trip so far...bad thing...spent the most of today in the room because DS13 was glutened...ended up with night sweats, EXTREME TEMPER, and slept all day...but other than that rode the rides, lots and lots and lots....

No pics...we love to ride and left camera in the room...

leaving club and going to Trattoria for early New Year's Eve dinner then on to parks...was planning on riding Dueling Dragon for midnight, but it will be closed at midnight so maybe just hanging out at studios with family...

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!

oh and its really hard to type this after my 3rd (maybe 4th) large glass of wine...where's my dramamine????:lmao: :lmao:

Mac- I googled the Million Dollar Quartet show- sounds like fun! :cool1:
Maybe you can give a mini report tomorrow, on how you liked it, I'm pretty curious about the show.

Minniejack- glad all is going well on your trip so far, except your DS with the gluten. Hope all goes well with the rest of your vacay!

Goodnight all, see you in 2009!

The Million Dollar Quartet is not a band concert.

it is a play production of the couple of hours jam session with elvis presley, carl perkins, jerry lee lewis and johnny cash at a recording studio.

this took place in 1956.
the production of this play is based on the book that was written about it.

the production is leaving chicago in about 6 weeks and will travel to another large city for a length of stay. one internet source say it will go to broadway due to the reviews and ticket sales. who knows....:confused3

basically this is how the play is advertised up here:

On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought together Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley. The place was Sun Records’ storefront studio in Memphis. The man who made it happen was the “Father of Rock-n-Roll,” Sam Phillips, who discovered them all. The four legends-to-be united for the only time in their careers for an impromptu recording session that embodied the birth of rock ‘n’ roll and has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time.

Million Dollar Quartet captures the infectious spirit, freewheeling excitement and thrilling sounds of a singular moment when four of popular music’s most extraordinary talents, all in their creative prime, came together for a night that would raise the roof.

this is the link from the ny times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/01/theater/reviews/01mill.html?partner=rssnyt&emc=rss

the play was at the Goodman Theater in Chicago, but was closed in october.
there was an out cry for it to continue longer so they booked the production at the Apollo Theater in the city.

I voted to do the Jersey Boys production but was outvoted by mr mac.
so to the Apollo we go tonight.....

the one err that was published on the internet was the price.
it increased greatly in December.
can you say $180 for 2 tickets............dang
