Something About Nothing............ #14

Good evening everyone. I made the mistake of taking a long nap this afternoon and now I will be up half the night.

This afternoon we tried a new ice cream shop that just opened. (Our small city seems to have an over abundance of ice cream shops.) It was good, but not as good as my favorite shop that is close to my office.

Tomorrow starts a week of making sure everything is caught up at work and cleaned up at home before leaving town. I also have 3 medical appointments.

I did have a nice lunch at the Boathouse to celebrate my birthday.
Happy belated birthday!!

I’m looking forward to watching the Oscar preshows tonight. Always fun to see the beautiful gowns and hairdos. will grab a bowl of popcorn & the pooch and hunker down in bedroom, as nobody else here has any interest in it.
At dinner I was looking at all the past motion picture winners and discovered that I have only seen 20 of them. I'm not even familiar with most of this year's nominations.

Proud of Kyle, he did well in the half marathon and thinks he`s in good shape for the first marathon of the year in April. He made it here
Congratulations to Kyle.

Dh is watching Winston Churchill again. I'm off to find something else to do.

Mr Mac and I went out for a late lunch today, well it was more like 3:00 and then just drove around at Look Out mountain to pass some time.

I don’t have to be concerned about dinner tonight as he will finish up our bbq ribs later tonight.

Am looking for warmer weather this week.
It’s not bad here but prefer higher temperatures.
A month from now will whine about the heat…..lol.

You have the best weather when it starts to get warmer!!! Winner winner.....

I`m thinking I very rarely make ribs here, might need to think about doing them for dinner one evening.

Carole, congrats for Kyle on his half marathon race!

I don’t participate in races, but like to watch them.

I am only a runner when it comes to food on the table…

Thanks mac, very proud of his achievements!!

Oh I couldn`t run if my butt was on fire but yes, I can reach the kitchen fast if I need to lol....

Fresh ice cream that`s not from a generic supplier is so much nicer! We adore good ice cream and it`s so easy to make oneself.

Thank you, he was happy with his time and hope you got a decent sleep last night, you do have a busy week ahead!!

It is getting warmer!!! We have beautiful sunshine too, but still have that slight chill out of the sunshine. We did read a book outside this morning, first of the year and it was nice, but one short book was enough then we went back inside.

Came home and ordered another picture frame for mum`s picture, didn`t think the first one was nice enough, we`ll use it for one of our pictures somewhere.

Kyle came over just after I got in, he has the day off work so, got his car washed and then we had some lunch, he wanted a grilled cheese sandwich, no problem there.

Did notice the flowers are really starting to pop up everywhere and the buds on the fruit trees seem to have multiplied overnight!

Spicy chicken thighs tonight for dinner, doing roast veg and sweet potato wedges will accompany them. Asked our milkman to deliver some of their yoghurts this morning, some new flavours to try, they are very nice, but very high in calories, creamy though!

Kyle and Tom have gone out for a walk, so I`ll get on with some phone calls and have a cuppa ready for when they get back and I have a Victoria Sponge in the oven baking, not something I do particularly well, but always edible for sure.

Have a lovely Monday :)

Good morning, Robo:
and congratulations on your birthday. I love continuous birthday celebrations. It must be wonderful to be able to pop into Universal on a whim. I would love that. Have a great day:):bday:
Thank you Ruth. Nothing wrong with extending out a birthday celebration for sure.

I wish it were that simple for the trips to Universal. It usually takes a little planning to pull those trips off. I like to stay a few days when I go. So making resort reservations takes a little time to find the date and rate that works.

Thank you Janet.

Your Sunday gravy sounds wonderful. It is always so nice to smell a good gravy simmering in the house all day.

Belated :bday: wishes Robbie, yes, it`s always nice to stretch out a celebration!!!
Thank Carole for the birthday wishes.

I know your moms 90th birthday is coming up soon. Sending her birthday wishes that she has many more happy birthdays to celebrate with you all.

Proud of Kyle, he did well in the half marathon and thinks he`s in good shape for the first marathon of the year in April. He made it here around 4ish and not long gone, had a nice dinner and a good old chatter before he headed home.
Congratulations to Kyle on his good time in the half marathon.

Belated happy birthday to Robo!
Thank you Lynne. I saw you posted you have some more trips planned coming up in next few months. Enjoy your planning.

Happy belated birthday!!
Thank you Charade.

You will be on your trip before you know it. Then all the stress you have been putting up with at work will be lifted for awhile.

Get in the vacation bubble and enjoy yourself.

happy belated birthday Robbie!
just now looking at the sans.

Hope you got ice cream, cake and flowers!
Thank you Mac did have a couple bites of cake.

Hope you are doing well.

Up early as ususal this morning. Having some toast and coffee and looking out the window at the palm trees and water.

We had a nice downpour of rain about midnight. No lightening or thunder.

My friend and I had a nice long walk in our neighborhood yesterday evening or what I call a nice Southren Stroll……LOL….no hurry to get anywhere.

Afterward we set in my driveway and continued our visit. It was nice to see other neighbors out and about and they stopped for a visit.

My neighbor next door has a dog named Benny. He is a little Chiweenie and he is so cute. When he sees me he wants me to pick him up a pet him. So Benny got lots of petting yesterday evening.

Heard from sister K yesterday and little J is sick with a fever. Praying he gets well soon. It is so hard to see the little ones so sick. I’am sending him some of his favorite games hopefully to cheer him up.

Daughter in law is progressing well. Still in therapy. She is off her crutches, but still walking with a limp which they said would get better.

Granddaughter is doing well too.

So we just need to get little J better and family will be in good shape.

Sun is coming up and it is supposed to be 77 today. Looks like it will be a nice day.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone,

Super quick post. Crazy day at work. I’m stressed.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone,
Thank you Robbie, 90 is indeed something to celebrate and we`ll do her proud for sure.

Hope the little guy improves and glad to hear your daughter in law and granddaughter are improving, that is good news.

Enjoy your day!!

Been a busy but fun couple of days, we were in the garden for most of the morning doing a few little bits, but this afternoon the wind has really got up so we retreated inside with a very large pot of tea and a slice of cake. The flowers and trees have blossomed amazingly well since last week for sure.

Kettle on for tea, 70`s/80`s music channels on, cold and windy outside but sunny and warm in here, can`t ask for more.

Beef Stroganoff for dinner tonight, with linguine for a change, will make it spicier than most folks serve it, we like a kick.

Pot of tea is on the table, so time for a snack I think.

Have a lovely Tuesday ☺️

Approaching the 60 degree mark today, then the bottom drops out tonight...hello spring!

Out to run some errands, then taking my pooch (he who hates to walk in a leash) for a stroll later this afternoon

Came home and ordered another picture frame for mum`s picture,
On the list today is to find one, in person, that will handle the thickness of a double matted litho we got at the recent Epcot arts festival, too thick for first one I grabbed
It is always so nice to smell a good gravy simmering in the house all day.
Absolutely Those meatballs revisiting us in hoagie form today with lots of grated parm
Chiweenie
That name makes me laugh every time I see it

Best wishes to all! How's your better half doing?
90 is indeed something to celebrate and we`ll do her proud for sure.
Especially when she is doing so well for her years! It's amazing, testament to hard work & good genes

PS another good re Keith R meme

That meme did make me laugh!

She is incredible for 90, very rarely sits still and is always on the go, we all say how lucky we are with her, especially as she is still mentally as sharp as she was.

Glad the weather is on the change for the better for you, it`s been a long winter!

Well, they promised us warmer weather this week.....still waiting!!

It is gorgeous though, plenty of sunshine, just very chilly and breezy, the sea looks quite wild right now. Not long home, met some friends for lunch, it`s been a while since we met on a Wednesday, so it was very nice, won`t need dinner which is ideal as tonight is the Salsa dancing class with my buddy J.

Got my second picture frame, sent the other one back as it looked cheap despite being quite expensive, this one is much nicer and very good quality, I think my mum will love the picture that`s going in it too.

So, lazyish day, spent most of it chatting which is nice way to spend some time, about to have a pot of tea with shortbread and maybe think about doing something, or maybe not.....

Happy Wednesday :-)

Ooh that wind. Brought in my umbrella, as who do I see?

IMG_4192.jpeg

Yep, rainy afternoon for us, and into the night too. Weather guy said more rain tomorrow. Ugh, wet will be. But then glorious sunshine on Friday. At least the weather did something right, making Friday full shine and 50 degrees the high. But we have to get over this hump of a day feeling Wednesday, then that glorious sunshine filed Friday is then a day away.

Sigh. City views are only good in the predawn arrival. Yesterday’s traffic home was absolutely awful. 7 miles, took me 53 minutes. I’m hoping with the rain, some may not be out. But probably will be just as bad, given school is in session. Rush hour starts around 2:30, when the first of the kids are out and about. Why I look forward to this week being a lazy Friday. This one filled with flower viewing. Yay!

Hope all have a most Wonderful Wednesday today. And one that makes Charade have a countdown almost to zero.

Another quick post. Trying to make sure everything at work is in order before I leave. Monday I had someone (new) walk into the office and expected to make an appointment for that afternoon. Sorry dude, it doesn’t work that way.
Yesterday when I left work I kept hearing a sound that sounded like something under my car was scraping the road. I went to the Honda dealership and got there 10 minutes before the mechanics left. Thankfully it was just a loose plate under the front of my car. The mechanic tightened it up and sent me on my way.
Tonight I’m going to try to get some cleaning done at my house before we leave.

Some people jump too fast Good to go at your own pace Does the rescue group offer foster experiences to see if you may be compatible with one?
They don't offer a foster option but that would be a good idea. We still haven't made our minds up yet, but we both love dogs and miss having one. We have to consider that we haveto take the dog out in our extreme cold weather all winter. We did that with Scruffy and it was not fun, but still.......we love dogs, so who knows?
as he eats a lot of rice at home, nice for a change. I will say he is running a half marathon tomorrow
I think I read that Kyle ran the marathon and did well? He has really taken to running and that's such a good thing to do. At his age, I only took care of the house and later the kids and worked. I like to think I got some exercise, LOL.
You might change your mind if you had been with him yesterday morning. About 4:45 he jumped on me and woke me from a good sleep. Then he walked around to my other side and did it again.
OMGosh,I still think he is a hoot!
Did the slicing & dicing of ingredients for chicken fried rice later. Haven't made in ages
I love anything with chicken and fried rice. Sounds wonderful.
Again, wound up with another big blister from the nitro freezing at the dermatologist
Oh no, I hope that it has started to heal now.
Tiara never came, got a txt I had a refund from
What? I didn't know you were a Queen, :rotfl2: , your honor.
This afternoon we tried a new ice cream shop that just opened. (Our small city seems to have an over abundance of ice cream shops.) It was good, but not as good as my favorite shop that is close to my office.

It seems like the week before vacation is so busy, but it's. getting.closer!!!
Did notice the flowers are really starting to pop up everywhere and the buds on the fruit trees seem to have multiplied overnight!
Oh, I wish ours were budding. I bet they look beautiful.
Heard from sister K yesterday and little J is sick with a fever. Praying he gets well soon. It is so hard to see the little ones so sick. I’am sending him some of his favorite games hopefully to cheer him up.
I hope little J is better now. It seems he was just sick a while ago?

Again, I am jealous! Sounds like a wonderful morning:) We won't be able to get out and fuss with the flowers for a month or two:(

Another quick post. Trying to make sure everything at work is in order before I leave.
Have a fantastic trip, Charade. Looks like the weather should be good too.
My daughter and her best friend are celebrating their birthdays with a trip to Sanibel Island next week. I wonder what Sanibel looks like since the hurricane? My daughter doesnt care as long as there is a beach and ocean:)

Well, it's Wednesday already! We had beautiful 51 degrees yesterday. And now it is 22 degrees with a strong North wind making it -20!!! Crazy weather, and just when I'm dreaming of Springtime!
It sounds like Carole's flowers are ahead of ours and she is so lucky to have them budding already.
We moved from a hot, humid climate in Tennessee to the frozen North, so I do miss their beautiful Springs. The flowers on the hillsides were so beautiful and the budding trees were gorgeous. I can't remember all the kinds of trees but they were very nice. I do miss the Spring the most in Tennessee though. At least it's not hot and humid in the Spring.

I must had deleted the post about the bears and mountain lions and wolves, but I'll try to remember. The bears in our area are becoming more abundant it seems. I do hope we don't have them in our yard all Spring and Summer like last year. We had to be super vigilant while outside and that was no fun at all. They have never been like that before. My daughter and husband have 40 acres which back up to a huge State Forest area, so that's where all the wolves and even mountain lions come from. Of all of them, the mountain lions are feared the most. Our State denies that we have them, but they show up at times being hit by cars. It must sound like we live in the back country, lol. It's just part of living in the N. Country. This area is a protected area with lots of National Forests and of course, most of the 10,000 lakes in Mn.. There is no industry in our city or area. It is all tourism and a lumber yard. So there's no pollution from all of that.

I need to sign off now and get ready to go to town for supper. We are taking my Mom out to eat as she has been inside a lot lately due to the crummy weather. We will just bundle her up and go:)

Have a nice rest of the week everyone,

ruth

lol....that`s one of the reasons we don`t have a dog, among other reasons of course, but the thought of having to take a dog out a walk in miserable weather does not fill us with joy. I think you`ll know when the time is right if you do want another dog.

Well, it was a half marathon, his first marathon this year is in April, but he was pleased with his time. he`s been running just over 4 years now, so well in his stride.

Although my husband does call me Princess, I haven`t quite got round to wearing a tiara quite yet.....no, it`s for my mum on her birthday to wear for a picture. And she will be Queen for the day so I wanted to get her one. Easier said than done apparently.

I got a picture of all my siblings and her in a picture together a few years ago, had it blown up, cleaned up by one of these firms that offer that service, so ordered a nice frame for it, first one I chose, I thought it was real oak, turns out to have been plastic with wood look, so the one that arrived today is very nice. She is adamant she doesn`t want any presents, so we`re taking her for a meal on the Saturday night and she has her party on the Sunday which will be a lot of fun. Looking forward to it.

Oh you mentioned our flowers.......here you go....:)

i-Jfwc56F-L.jpg

All that talk of bears and mountain lions!!! Scary stuff for sure. One of our friends in Floridaused to live in Lake Mary and they had mountain lions around, one of the many reasons I`d never, ever move to Florida!!!! However, it does sound beautiful where you live and that`s always a bonus.

Stay warm and cosy till it warms up though, hope you had a lovely visit with your mum!!

Almost ready for bed, had a lovely evening with my friend at our Salsa/dance class 💃 It was a lot busier tonight but still so much fun. Hips are definitely not too happy, but will be fine in the morning.

Came in and called my sister, caught up on how plans are going on for mum`s party and caught up with my niece too, can`t wait to see them soon.

Planning a day in tomorrow I think although if the wind dies down we`ll get out a walk I think along the shore, fingers crossed!

Bed is calling I think!

That sounds wonderful. I've been fantasizing about a large strawberry cone or a strawberry shake!
You would love my favorite ice cream shop. When strawberries are in season they will go to a local farm and pick them and make fresh ice cream. I never cared much for strawberry ice cream before, but this stuff is heavenly.

I must had deleted the post about the bears and mountain lions and wolves
Yikes! I love bears and big cats, but don’t want to get that close to them.

Oh you mentioned our flowers.......here you go..
Beautiful!

I meant to post this earlier. It came up in my Facebook memories a couple of days ago. Several years ago these 2 things appeared back to back in my news feed. Too funny.

That ice cream sounds divine, nothing nicer than ice cream made from fresh produce and strawberries is one of the nicest. We haven`t been strawberry picking for years.

lol, that is funny!!

Thank you, it certainly gives us hope spring is here with everything starting to bloom.....almost!!

Beautiful sunny morning again, and getting warmer!

Sat in the kitchen this morning with the doors wide open once the sun came around just after 9.30, two of our friends came round for a cuppa, it was lovely enjoying the fresh air without that chill!!!

Going out a walk this afternoon down the beach, well, the prom as it is going to be even warmer, loosen up the legs from last night`s dance class, in saying that, they`re not too bad this morning at all.

Open face turkey sandwiches for lunch then we`ll head out, dinner will be roast salmon, huge pieces, but we do love salmon!

Have a lovely Thursday :)
