Something About Nothing............ #14

Better safe than sorry :rolleyes1

Had snow overnight, the hawks are circling my dog (pooch) like vultures when I take him out. Over-fertile mind, reminds me of dragons.

Think the rougher winter has been hard this year on the local wildlife.

Supposed to finally finish the demolition of old power plant here. The one that started with the big towers coming down a year ago. Lawsuits were filed as to safety concerns by nearby residents whose homes were damaged. Can’t say I blame them.

They tried to pull the tall building down last week, only 70% cooperated. The dust cloud was awful, can’t imagine the carcinogens that got stirred up in it. Didn’t go out of house that day, not planning on doing so today either JIK

Making chocolate chip cookies, just because today :). Roast chicken breasts on the menu for dinner. It’s still difficult to find them here since the pandemic??? Sweet &/or baked taters along with pickled cucumber salad. Tomorrow, making a half ham I found hiding in the freezer.

Immediately, my mind went to this

Absolutely. Last few times I’ve had pics off my phone enlarged at Walgreens, I’ve gotten a warning the pixels were off. Went ahead & ordered anyway, and they looked fine to me.

New to me, guess they’ve been around for a while, are metal tile sort of things, about the size of an ipad. They affix to wall but are able to be changed out easily with other ones as the mood strikes you. Used DS as a guinea pig for them, looks nice in a hallway he has.

Yes, it’s fully warmed up now, says he can’t pry his cat off it lol

she doth protest too much ;). JK, I’m sure she’s a humble person and thinks it’s possibly a bit too showy but, deep down, bet she is tickled pink by it! Going to be so much fun for all.

If anyone can convince me to make Tom`s year and book a cruise it`s you!! The more the merrier!

Staying in cookie making sounds like a plan! Demolition of things like that are horrible.

The picture isn`t awful, it`s fine actually, but it just isn`t as crystal clear as normal pics, she`ll still like it though, not sure if I`ve heard about what you mean with the tiles, sounds nice though.

lol....as long as the kitty is fine, all is good!

Yes, I think she`ll love the crown, I might struggle to get it back off her lol

Good morning everyone

Thank you Carole. The girls are doing good. Daughter in law is still in therapy. She is off her crutches, but still hobbling a bit. Granddaughter surgical site almost totally healed.

Little J unbeknownst to anyone had a ruptured ear drum do to infection. Was seen by his doctor and is on antibiotics and is doing a lot better. Fever has subsided. Doc said the ear drum will heal and they will keep watch on it.

I know you will help do your mom’s birthday up in style for sure. I’am sure she will enjoy having her family around her celebrating with her.

Thank you Janet. Hubby is doing well. Thankfully he is having more good days then bad ones so he is progressing well thank you for asking.

For sure Mac. Birthdays are a fun time to extend the celebrations.

Hey!!!!!! Sue….good to see your post.

Have a nice meal out with your mom Ruth. I’am sure she will enjoy getting out with you all for a meal.

WOW……sounds like you all have an interesting mix of wild life near you.

Pretty flowers that are blooming in your yard..

Pumpkin what a nice little getaway to see your family.

LOL…….I call it shellback…..

I agree I4, I75 and I95 are not for the faint of heart.

Nextdoor neighbor went to MCO to pick up her grandson Thrusday afternoon and they were stuck on the I95 for 3 1/2 hours because of a terrible crash on their way back. She said when they finally started moving they saw the vehicles and said she did not see how anyone could have survived the crash as the vehicles involved were pretty mangled. Sad situation.

Charade have a wonderful vacation.

I have been trying to post his since this earlier this morning. Finally I just sat down to finish it.

Went up to KSC yesterday with one of my fellow Rocket Sista’s. They are making progress on the tower for Artemis 2.

I surprised her with an uninterrupted visit to the Apollo/Saturn V Center. She was like a kid in candy shop taking photos.

I was happy to have another walk around. One of the employees told us that they were expecting over 5000 kids today for field trips. We saw a good portion of them when we entered when KSC opened. She said they called Friday during the school year Field Trip Friday. I will have to remember that.

We did see a IMAX on Deep Sky…….LOL…I looked over a couple of times during the movie and her eyes were closed. It was’nt that it was boring show it was more that we had lunch early and it was cool and dark in the cinema and when your over 65 and your belly is full this happens sometimes…….LOL….I will admit my head may have bobbled a few times.

We walked over to the Gateway Deep Space Launch Complex for a walk around.

I do like the design of the SpaceX space suits.

We then went to hear a short lecture on Mars. We did not fall asleep…LOL

Although I love space and space travel I tend to be a bit of a pessimist on the whole thing of occupying Mars. If man cannot get along here on earth were survival is relatively easy there is no way they can get along under the living conditions on Mars.

Poor little guy, such a painful thing to have, but when you`re that age, it`s horrendous. Glad he got the meds and he is on the mend. It is a joyous thing to say everyone is on the mend in your family, a blessing for sure.

We were lucky twice at KSC we got that area to ourselves for about 20 minutes, pictures were amazing with no one in them.

Our last trip was a Friday and we did see some school kids when we arrived, but they didn`t impact our trip in any way thankfully.

Have a great weekend Robbie.

Currently at Reagan International airport. We are way too early. Our flight doesn’t leave until 3:39. I expected the airport to be very busy but it isn’t. We breezed through baggage check and TSA. So far everyone we encountered has been super nice and friendly. We will need to eat something before boarding since we don’t land until after 6 and breakfast was around 9:00. There is a crepe stand right outside our gate. Yum!

It`s always nice when you expect something to be busy and it isn`t, safe travels and yes, have some food!!

We had as beautiful an afternoon as we did a morning, although it has gone dark in the last hour and it gets chilly when that sun goes down, time for the heating.

I have my.....I mean ahem, mum`s tiara and I love it!!!

I may keep it on tonight, Tom can call me Her Royal Highness 😉 It`s quite sturdy for something that was only around $25.

Thai food on order, should be here soon then some Johnny Depp!!

. May just wait until he takes off, makes me nervous as he got sick after sitting in The boathouse the last time. They keep an allergy sort of kitchen, just think it was heavy in the air.
That is scary, Janet. He got sick just from the air???
You can always just pick up after you get there. As long as you show it to the desk the next day or so, all will be good. The rates do fluctuate, try checking early Sunday evenings. I’ve had good luck then a couple
Thank you for that advice. I will check this Sunday evening and see what shows up. I booked for a pretty low rate (to me) and the receipt shows that they are using variable pricing, so some of the days are more and one is even less.
, I honestly cannot imagine the temps you and Ruth both have a lot of the winter!!
:cold: I can't either, Carole, :) We are getting into the 50's tomorrow. Whoopee!:dogdance:
You still have snow!!! Heck, I should send you more flower pictures when they pop up, but once your garden comes alive it is stunning, surely it`s not long now!!!
MOre flower pics would be great. Unfortunately, our gardens don't start up until around end of April or May.... It's a long time to wait and I always over do it when I buy flowers. Can't help it:)
Hope you get that trip sorted soon, yes, I`ve seen lots of comments about price hikes, but keep checking for sure. Are you still planning for both kids to visit with you this upcoming trip? That would be so lovely
I know Robin is for sure! I haven't talked to Randy yet so we'll see. I might break it up and take one one year and the other one the next.
the clock change at the end of the month to see a difference.
The End of the month? Our time change starts tomorrow, so we will set the clocks ahead before bed. I hate time change!
No plans apart from walking and a visit from our boy, tonight we`re having Chinese or Thai takeout and the fourth Pirates movie, might manage the fifth too, can`t beat a bit of Johnny Depp as Capt Jack!
Walking and a visit from your son sounds great. It's too slippery to walk here or too cold. We love Chines take out and the POC movies! I tried to watch Gone with the Wind but just couldn't get into it. Will try later. It's a 4 hour movie and I have the extended version.
Had snow overnight, the hawks are circling my dog (pooch) like vultures when I take him out. Over-fertile mind, reminds me of dragons.
Oh no. Is your dog a little one? Our bichon was small and the eagles would circle when I was out with him. Fortunately, he was wary and quick and never had a problem. Roger did see an eagle carrying a small animal one time.
Little J unbeknownst to anyone had a ruptured ear drum do to infection. Was seen by his doctor and is on antibiotics and is doing a lot better. Fever has subsided. Doc said the ear drum will heal and they will keep watch on it

Yes, we do. Our area has a lot of Forestry land and restricted areas, so we have a lot of wildlife. I love this area, but the bears can be a problem at times.
Currently at Reagan International airport.
It's getting closer.......... Won't be long now. Have a wonderful time, Charade.
We had a great time at our flower show, yesterday.
Lynne, I love flower shows. Those flower pics were beautiful.

Good morning everyone. Today I went into town to get a birthday card for husband, Roger, and a gift for his family party tonight. I can't believe I completely forgot to do that!!!! He gets another birthday party with just me and Mom on the 11th, his actual birthday. I'm making pepper steak and having home made apple pies for dessert. He loves apple pies, and I admit I dont' make them too often.

It's a beautiful day today with sunny skies and 40's. Tomorrow will be close to 60!!!!

Have a great rest of the weekend, everyone.

I doubt I`ll be wandering down to get pictures this week if there are more flowers as it`s turning chilly again, but once more come through I`ll send them to you, I love flowers all around me but no clue as to what they are! I feel bad the daffodils and others are popping out and then another cold spell hits us!! I`d be hiding too.

Oh that sounds like a plan to split a trip and take one then another next year, hope you find some good prices!

We did have a lovely day thanks Ruth, always nice to see Kyle and we ended up ordering Thai food tonight.

Have you ever watched Dr Zhivago? It`s a bit of an epic, but admittedly I do prefer the book despite it being a bit of an epic too lol but the movie is wonderful to watch. I don`t think I`ve ever watched Gone with the Wind, never appealed to me much.

Have a lovely time tonight, family parties are fun!!! And Tom and I adore apple pies, send them over....we`ll appreciate them!!!!

Glad you`re having a beautiful day too!!!!!

Food is here!!!!

Yes, our doctor looked at me as tho I was an idjit when i shared the story afterwards. He said it’s very common.
I might break it up and take one one year and the other one the next.
I like the sound of that, everybody happy!
Will try later.
Good luck
Oh no. Is your dog a little one?
Yes, the size of a bichon. Often mistaken for one when he’s sporting his current ‘do - short hair, puppy cut. but he’s a Havanese. So sweet and gentle, he’d never fight back.

I don't blame you for staying out of the colder weather. It's crazy around here in March. We are having near 60 degree weather all week, and then Saturday a high of 30 with possible ice and snow!!!! Warm enough for a few days to tease us about Spring, and then, WHAP, reality rears it's ugly head.

I did find great prices with the AP. I'll let you know the dates soon. Robin has already signed on so that's great!

I loved Dr. Zhivago!!! I admit to a crush on the main actor. Shoot, I can't remember his name but can see him.
Gone with the Wind was a BIG thing here. It's a look at the old South before slavery was repealed and when the Civil War started. The sceens are epic and beautiful. The love story between Rhett Butler and Scarlett was the main focus of the picture, and that's what has held my interest over the years. Had a crush on Clark Gable too, lol. Some people don't like the way the old South is portrayed but it is accurate, but hard to take for some. It is now a way that is"gone with the win":)
(sorry about that, but I just had to say it:)

It was a nice quiet party. The grandkids were all working, and Luke wasn't feeling good enough to travel, so it was just us, Randy and family. But it was fun with good food. I love coconut cake and his cake was delicious! I am having his birthday dinner on his actual birthday this Tuesday. He absolutely loves apple pies, so that's what he gets:) Apple pies are the One thing that I can bake pretty well. I like it hot with vanilla ice cream. I will send a pie your way via Amazon, LOL.

We are having 2 birthday parties because Robin will be in Florida, Sanibel Island, with her best friend to celebrate their birthdays, the lucky ducks!

lol....for some reason he`s gone off the idea now!! He`s probably read something nasty and decided it`s a no.

yep, if the kitty is happy.....

Well, I`m bringing the tiara home with me, mum was insistent lol.....I always wanted to wear one while vacuuming!!!

Sounds like some nicer weather is heading your way!!

Hope all the homies and all who reads this board, are doing fine!

Doing good mac, hope you`re the same!

Has your weather warmed up yet, you had it cold for a long time this year.

Is it from a movie?

Now that is much colder than it should be anywhere!!! Honestly, I`d make like a bear and hibernate if I lived there. Today was cooler than yesterday which ended up being really nice, but I did go straight in the shower when we came in today after our second walk of the day. The fog rolled in and it felt really cold.

Omar Sharif!! Yep, very handsome man in his day.

Glad you got sorted with a trip!!

Oh I`m sorry Luke wasn`t feeling so good, bless him! Coconut Cake is a favourite of both of us as is apple pie, will happily accept a slice!!! Glad it went well though and you have Tuesday to look forward to for the birthday boy.

My legs ache but it was so worth it. Went out this morning walking through the woods and beyond, then after lunch as it was so nice we headed down the beach, wrapped up as it was chilly but then the fog came in, very suddenly and our beach is a busy one but it was almost silent at that point. We were walking and all of a sudden someone would appear like an apparition, very odd.

Came home and had a shower as it was a damp cold that got into our bones, but we were glad we did walk twice as the weather is to get colder again from Tuesday.

I had some diced beef simmer all day in the slow cooker, it was a nice winter warming dish to come home to, cooked it in red wine, garlic, beef stock and herbs, very nice with some creamy mash. Dessert was a plum crumble and a custard bought from the deli, they make it fresh every day and it is a treat and a half!

Last Pirates movie tonight and feet up!

Hope your Sunday has been a good one!

The only thing that is a problem when you have over 5 thousand school kiddos on the day you visit KSC is lunch time. We made sure to eat early and it was not an issue.

It is over cast and the wind is blowing hard today.

Doing some inside needed jobs around the house. It is supposed to rain and it looks like it will.

Just finished mopping the tile floors.

Going to the farmers market later today. Not much else planned.

Yes, we made in to lunch before the crowd of kids, but they weren`t too bad.

lol...I will wear it with pride, my friend said this morning she was surprised I didn`t already have one haha

Have a fun day!!!

It is baltic here!!! I think Ruth has sent over some of her extra cold weather to us!!! What a change from Saturday when we were in the garden without jackets and even yesterday although it was chilly, it wasn`t as cold as this! Fog came back with a vengeance last night, could barely see out at all, cleared a little this morning, but still misty out there.

Went out to do the readings this morning, came home, my friend H asked if I fancied picking her up and go wander round the shops in the town about half an hour away and have some lunch....actually the last thing I wanted to do as it so darn cold but wrapped up and went anyway and I did pick up some new moisturiser, eye cream and some face serum, never used this brand before but comes highly recommended by several friends.

Had a mug of soup and a we halved a grilled chicken and bacon sandwich in a coffee shop, by then the cold was biting and I declared it time to go home, she did get a few things she wanted though. Dropped her off and came home to a cuppa with Tom who feigned being hungry, despite having a bacon sandwich for lunch topped off with a fried egg, yes, not exactly starving!!

Dinner tonight is a very winter warming chicken pot pie with dumplings on top instead of pastry with roasted carrots and butternut squash. And more tea!! Lamps are on too as it is just so dark, well not dark, but very, very dull!!

Hope your Monday is a good one :)

Weather is glorious here, such a treat after the last 2 months. There’s a big bright ball in the sky, looks vaguely familiar.

I finally saw Kevin.
love how they captured his essence. I cry every time. I watch Up

We came upon him last trip a 3rd time on an AK park day. He was dancing to the Latin beats of the stage show outside Dinoland. So funny

Gone with the Wind was a BIG thing here

How is the food @ KSC now? Last meal there a few years ago was quite disappointing
some face serum,
I’ve a basket full of strike outs. If you find a miracle worker, let me know.
Normally not a fan of ponderous Russian literature but the movie is so well acted and artfully filmed.
Seriously, even the protests and war scenes were great depictions.

Kevin is actually female. It’s a great movie, but a bit of a tear jerker.

I’m waiting while dh and B ride Rockin Rollercoaster. I’ve ridden Star Tours twice and am still not the rebel spy.

RRR coaster is a good coaster!! I don`t think I even remember ST.

Another Dr Zhivago fan. Rewatched with my mom quite a few times before she passed.
Normally not a fan of ponderous Russian literature but the movie is so well acted and artfully filmed.

I admit to enjoying that kind of literature, not often now but once you get into the books, it gets easier lol. Agree, that movie was beautifully filmed.

Oh I do like that meme!!!!!!

We didn`t find the food anything to write home about, it filled a hole and that was good enough. The fries were ok.

I`ll send you a picture of them, I already like how my skin feels with it, one friend tried it and didn`t like it but I think she might need something a little heavier. I haven`t tried the serum under make up yet, but will give it a bash at the weekend.

Long, exhausting, but fun day.

I’m going to miss the Muppets.

It`s another cold one here, breezy, had some rain but colder than they claim it is, so we decided to have a day in, no need to go out anywhere nor did we need any shopping. Sun has come out finally, but still not going out

Slept a little later which was lovely, we heard the wind and turned over and went back to sleep, late breakfast was quite nice, so light lunch for sure. Dinner tonight is Cajun Chicken, chunky triple fried chips with salad and coleslaw, not a very winter like dish, but we fancied it.

Oh this was the fog on the beach the other day, glad that has gone, it comes in so quickly when it does hit us.

Think lunch will be a pot of tea and a scone with butter and preserve in a little time, then I plan to tidy out and organise some kitchen and utilty room cabinets, Tom is planning to watch The Flash or Star something or other!

Have a lovely Tuesday 😁

Quick morning stop in!!!!

Busy day at work. My casual gal has formally received another offer in another department - so that means I'm back to training ANOTHER new person. Hopefully soon our manager can officially hire another permanent admin to help me. The casuals are not working out. And we need them more than " casually" we need them as almost a full-time employee. Oh well, not my worry.

Been busy. our weekend was somewhat busy. I tidied, cleaned and baked on Saturday. Sunday was grocery shopping and then I whipped up roast chicken for the whole family. It was nice to have everyone together for a meal.

We have booked our hot holiday. Heading to the Cancun area again for a week of laying by the pool/beach, and bellying up to the buffet or a la carte for dinners. I am looking forward to it.

Weather has been menopausal. It's cold again, but we didn't get the snow that was forecasted - thankfully!

Long, exhausting, but fun day.
Looks like you are having a great vacation!!!!!

Sounds like a great way to spend a cold foggy day. When that cold hits - we lizards tend to want to stay inside and not move. I need to spend some time organizing and purging again. I did see a video about organizing/purging that has me more motivated to do more of it. Especially since we are now home more often now that dd and their family are living here. We are not travelling so much anymore.

Well, I should go. I need to get some on-boarding stuff done for the new casual starting.

Have a great day everyone!

Woot! Thanks for sharing your pictures, Charade. Looks like perfect weather and fun.

Ah, thank goodness we are at the mid point of the week today. Who do I see?

Ah yes, camels are enjoying the beach. Kids went down the shore yesterday. Sadly neither the coconut macaroons nor the salt water taffy places we like, were open. But the caramel popcorn place was. Nothing like fresh made. By early last night, the big tub of it, was certainly much less full.

Back to yes, hump day is here, that Wednesday feeling day where we get through today, then fabulous Friday is then a day away.

Woot! Pay day Friday for me. Good thing, as Broadway show viewing is coming up. Cheap train tickets bought, and just around an hour and a half ride, so quick trips there are easy to spend a day or two there.

But sigh, full week day routine for me. And boy my neighbors were on the road in that wee hour start, as had to wait for five cars to pass before I could turn out of my street. But then, no one around until I got to the road that goes into where I end. Not that way on the return though. Not unusual to wait two lights to get outta here. So many cars, and even more, when school is in session.

Though cannot weather complain with this middle of March. 48 when I left, and while a cold front makes the high 59, it’s been in the 60’s most of this week, and predicted 68 the high, on the first day of next week. And glorious sunshine we have had. ☀️ So bright out. The cold front will bring clouds, but by Friday, into the 60’s after a predicted 54 tomorrow, with a mostly cloudy day. Woot for getting that ever a little bit warmer.

Final woot to Pumpkin. As going to enjoy some MX warm sun and relaxing. Deserved for sure, given your work having you to keep training newcomers. And your cooler weather.

Tea renewal time.

Hope all have a Most Wonderful Wednesday today.
