Something About Nothing............ #14

There will always be somewhere to eat Charade, we book nothing and survive just fine.
Sometimes when I am bored I will open the Disney app and see what restaurants have availability that very night. There is always a long list of possibilities - even some of the more difficult to find reservations. I figure, why get up at 6:00 am 2 months before my trip and stress over reservations? If we want a table service meal we will just choose from what's available that day. There are also plenty of decent quick service restaurants to choose from. What I will be booking in advance are the extra events. We are hoping to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour, the fireworks dining package, and a couple of after hours events.

7 mile walk this morning, well, just short
That's pretty impressive. I need to start walking in preparation for my upcoming Universal and Disney trips. It's too hot and humid outside right now, so I guess I will be using the treadmill at the gym.

Today's agenda - shopping for a hand mixer. I need to make a dessert for an event I am attending tomorrow night. I had a hand mixer, but the beaters kept coming off while I was using it. I finally got so frustrated with it and threw it in the garbage.

Good Friday afternoon everyone :wave2:

Hope everyone is feeling better with headaches and tummy issures.

Ruth hope you are continuing to heal after your fall. Sending healing wishes you way.

Carole impressive walk this morning and nice photo of the calm sea.

It took me all day to clear the limb debris on Wednesday. I was thankful to only have limb debris. The house was sound thank goodness.

One of the guys working on our driveway said his buddy that lives about 2 miles from us had a tree fall on his house. No one was harmed.

Yesterday I watched little J for half a day. He and I did our Starbucks run. Then he wanted to go to the splash pad play area so we did that for a while. We only stayed for 45 minutes as it was pretty hot and humid out.

We had another storm roll through yesterday evening about 5:30 pm. The tornado warnings when off again, but as the storm rolled through it was not packing the wind the storm Tuesday night did.

We are in the upper 80’s to low 90’s and the humidity has been really high, Think that is not helping with the weather.

We had some rain roll through an hour ago and another shower just started. I wished some of this rain would cool the temps and humidity down a little.

Talked older sister in Florida yesterday and she said something is brewing out in the Atlantic.

I did get to the store after sitting with little J and finished picking up what I needed for hubby’s birthday party tomorrow.

I went by the bakery Monday and turned in a picture of hubby when he was in high school to have them put it on his cake.

Hubby figured out about his surprise party when he looked in the freezer and saw the sherbet I use for punch when we have celebrations. He is looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

I made the twice bake potatoes, macaroni salad and prepped all the fruit. Will do some more food prep later.

Granddaughter M and her hubby L are picking up the ribs for me. L’s friend owns a barbecue restaurant and the ribs are delicious. So I bought a lot of ribs to have as the meat tomorrow.

Will finish setting up things for the party later.

Everyone always expects to get cookies at Nana’s so I need to make some this evening. Don’t want to disappoint.

On the HHN front I did purchase by UMH Tour on Monday. That has been the extent of HHN ticket buying so far. Will deal with the rest soon.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone.

Sounds like a plan Charade, yes, I wouldn`t fancy playing that game, but you`ll have plenty of options I`m sure.

I can imagine it being far too hot to walk where you are, treadmill sounds a nice compromise. Our hot is not your kinda hot, but we still go really early when we do have a mini heatwave....UK style of course!!!

Hope you got your hand mixer.

Glad you got everything cleared and yes, thankfully no damage to your home.

I`ve been following the storm headed for them, fascinating to watch but you always pray it disappears.

Hope the celebration goes well tomorrow, it`ll be lovely to get everyone together to celebrate his birthday. And yes, cookies galore will be lovely, hope you have a lot of fun!!!

We did enjoy dinner outside tonight, now we have a few spots of rain, but literally only a few, it has got very dark however and feels a little cooler which is nice.

Hopefully walk in the morning again, some shopping, some housework and then over to Kyle`s mid afternoon, we`ll have dinner there with him, looking forward to that a lot.

Tonight, watching some episodes of Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch, they`re quite good but I loathe the actor they got to play Moriarty.

Then an early night I think, cuppa tea first.

I’ve infected by dear husband. He found a deal today.

U.S. military service members (both active duty and veterans), police, firefighters, EMS personnel, nurses, and educators can book a free cruise on Margaritaville at Sea. We enjoyed the Orlando resort well enough. Guess what “hero” & his lovely spouse is going on a free 6 night cruise the end of March?

JIK anyone wants to check it out.

For the migraine suffers here…Can we talk headaches? Does this sound semi-familiar to anyone? I have heard symptoms often are different for people as to how they present. Two of my DS get migraines, both with auras and smells. One uses a RX, the other often toughs it out. Didn’t start until they hit puberty. Drs point to their paternal side of family having history of them. None on mine, which is why I’ve never considered it in the past.

I went to bed with an awful headache last night, one of the worst I’ve ever had & that includes after concussions. Lasted all night until just a couple of hours ago.

Literally, just had my head examined during recent round of medical tests:), know there’s nothing bad lurking there other than a few random thoughts.

Had increased frequency of headaches the last few years and the way my eyes take turns going cross-eyed during, thinking it may be time to mention to my family dr when I see him in September. I’ve always just been able to pop a Motrin and they disappear within a half hour. :confused3

I figure, why get up at 6:00 am 2 months before my trip and stress over reservations?
Well, not only is that necessary for hoop de doo but, you also often aren’t able to book Category 1 until the latter days of trips.

Otherwise, I agree, just book for 4 vs 3 and you will be fine. I hate how they often block tables for 3 pp
Keys to the Kingdom tour
It’s my favorite tour there, although my youngest DS (just at the minimum age to do it @ the time) said it took some of the magic off things. Kids, what do they know? Lol

Oh, they are surely tossing the spaghetti models galore today re Debby.

AJ may need to buckle in, good thing he’s been doing his prep work early in the season, stay safe!

Buckled up but we're mostly expecting a lot if rain. Models have 5-10 inches possible by Monday night. We have a creek in the back yard but we're 30ish feet above it.
Mac may be in the path too, anyone else?
We've had one or more of these skirt us almost every year since we got married and been thru some in the Keys and on cruises. Flooding is always the first thing to protect yourself from. If the wind is that dangerous, we will boogie inland with the pups.

Y’all FL folks gettin’ all “hunkered down?” We hopefully got our “hurricane partying” out of our system with Beryl…a week on generator power kinda sux…but not as bad as NO GENERATOR!!!
Pixie Dust & prayers for those in the path! (And youse guys that’ve been illin’ with those dang headaches! Been there-not fun!)

That is fantastic Janet!!!! I did click on it, looks wonderful and what an amazing offer!!! Glad he took it up!

Would it be worth seeing your doc before September, if they`re getting worse you want to nip that in the bud. A normal headache is bad enough but migraines, different story. My brother suffers from cluster headaches, wouldn`t wish those on anyone, he can take weeks to recover when they hit, not nice, so yes, I`d be at least having a chat.

Hi Mac!

:wave2:

Not as nice this morning but no walking, my lovely husband has two huge blisters, one on his heel and one on the toe, so as we`re away tomorrow, popped some neosporin on it and give the walk a miss.

Going to be sunny, allegedly but might rain later.

Housework this morning now, Tom will bring down a couple of holdalls for us, won`t need much as we`re only away a few days....she says :rolleyes1 I`m not sure I can pack light!!!

Our butcher has started doing turkey bacon.....er, ok.....I did try some years ago and it was not good, but he says we will enjoy this, so will give it a try this morning with a poached egg and some avocado, breakfast of champions apparently!!

Spatchcocked a chicken last night, it`s been marinading in bbq flavours and spices since then, will cook it before we leave and take it over to Kyle`s for dinner, he`s doing all the sides and has a surprise dessert for us, no idea what that will be! Won`t be late back from there.

But, cup of tea time and it is brightening up already!!

Wow, quiet day today, no one at all around????

Had a lovely day, Kyle appeared after his run this morning to valet his car with us, glad to be of assistance 😁 Then we went over for dinner which was lovely and spent several hours there sitting out on his balcony for a time, dinner, chatting then watched some of the olympics. We`re not long home and very full after a very nice dinner and he had an unexpected cheesecake one of his friends made for us coming over, she is a dessert person, surprising as she is wafer thin, but like Kyle, she is a runner. It was beautiful, white chocolate and raspberry and an individual dark chocolate one for Kyle.

Suitcase down from the attic, decided one suitcase was better than two holdalls, will pack in the morning.

Not long till bedtime, a little cooler now but a gorgeous summer evening here.

Well, heading off to Scotland soon, looks to be a mixed day of weather and not too sunny which is nice to drive up in, sun is kind of behind us for most of the drive, coming home we drive straight into the sun, if it shines of course!

Setting off soon, got up at 4.30, showered and packed, and not taking too much, but in Scotland you have to dress for four seasons in one day, so taking options in case the weather breaks and an umbrella too. Will stop off at the border for lunch, hopefully usual place but it’s right in the middle of tourist season, so might be busier than usual.

We`re having dinner with just mum and maybe one brother tonight, tomorrow night a family dinner then Tuesday is still to be decided, but most of our time is just visiting with everyone we can, won’t see as many friends this time as we like though as it’s quite a short visit.

Usually we like a drive up to Loch Lomond which isn’t far from mum and the hotel, but weather looks drizzly, so might not bother, shame as we love it up there.

But, have a lovely Sunday whatever you’re doing :sunny:

Quick hello. Nothing much going on here. B and I went to the Y today. We are going to try to do some walking before our Orlando trips. I need to buy some gym shorts, leggings, or something. I wore yoga pants today, but they are a little too long. I felt like I was going to step on them.

Yesterday after lunch I was sitting in the car while dh was talking to a friend at his car. A family came out of the restaurant and were getting into the car parked next to ours. One of the children looked at our car and said, “Someone parked their Ferrari next to us.” I started laughing. Dh drives a red, 2023 Honda Civic Sport. Cute car, but hardly looks like a Ferrari.

It’s been very quiet here. Hope everyone is doing well.

Nothing interesting in my world today.
It has been stinking hot outside all day long.

I have central ac so most of today has been fine as long as I don’t go outside.

Did go to Walmart for cat food which has been the highlight of my day.
(hit that store early morning)

I have central air and as long as I stay in the house, I am good for the temps in the mid/upper 90’s.

It’s boring as heck but I am out of options.

When we moved out of Chicago and moved to the south, was thrilled winter snow storms were a thing in the past for us.

Did not realize how stinking hot it can get in Georgia until we moved here.

We have a two story house and have two ac units.
Main floor we had a new ac unit put in few months back.
Second floor ac unit bit the dust two weeks ago.
Parts were ordered but still have a delay for the supply to arrive.

Hope it comes real soon as we are having guests coming to stay with us a week from now.

I do have a back up plan just in case there is a delay for the needed parts.

This must be my lucky day!

Now have no more concerns about house issue with the ac.

All issues worked out from over night
somehow after I last posted.
The service company that handles our ac units came early this morning and had the parts to finish the hvac system.
Now all is fine.

I do love happy endings!
