Something About Nothing............ #14

Surprised the DW with a stop on Lookout mt and Rock City Gardens. At a snail's pace in Atlanta rn. Where's the closest Buc-eees?🤣🤣🤣

Nice pics!

I’m d-e-a-d. New site/new therapist. Massage is now off the table. Had me doing two different sort of planks and squats.

Said I wasn’t ā€œgetting downā€ :p Enough, so had me set on this cheater ball, the size of a playground kick ball. Big whoop. I’ll go with the program, if i can still move tomorrow.

Only planks I like are chicken lol

Sorry to hear that, maybe the warm(er) weather will set things right for you

Absolutely. Bears are nothing to mess with IMO. Surprising how much damage a cornered deer can wreak too

I need to google. Oh, don’t mention Buc-eees, pleees. I’ve been getting umpteen hints to take a ā€œlong-cutā€ from MCO to hit it up in Daytona. Just say no

Yup, that doesn`t sound like fun!!!

So true with the deers, we have them around here and although we don`t get any issues from them, the farms sometime have issues with them. They do like our fruit though but they rarely if ever come up to the house thankfully.

Had a nice morning with my lady I took shopping, she was lovely, but very much old school mistress type. If you`ve ever seen Maggie Smith in the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, she was like her but much older. That was a show from my childhood before she was Professor McGonagall to most people. Anyway, got her shopping and did take her for a cuppa in one of our local garden centres which she enjoyed.

It is downright chilly here again, it is such a joke with everyone now how cold it is, low 50`s and windy which makes it worse.....Orlando weather is very appealing right now!! But, complaining about weather is traditionally a wonderfully British trait.

Have a chicken slowly cooking in the Aga today which makes a kitchen extra cosy and warm, will make stock out of the bones and freeze it for chicken noodle soup sometime soon.

Tom out volunteering again today, so I`ve been chilling with a good book most of the afternoon, hard to beat complete silence apart from the birds outside.

Cuppa time :)

Trying to get in a quick post while at work. I have spent most of today and yesterday canceling and rescheduling appointments. So far we have had 18 cancellations this week.
I have also been dealing with a Medicare nilling issue, but I think I finally have it figured out.

Good morning all. Up in the Tennessee mountains still.
Beautiful views.
We love Tennessee. Dh interviewed for some jobs there but it just didn’t work out.

Oh no. Maybe seasonal allergies afoot?
Either that or a cold. The sore throat and ear issues have gone away. Now she is coughing and sneezing.

I’m of the mind that all honest work is a good thing. You can learn something from every job. However, yes, you do hate to see them be under employed. This just might be the impetus to return to school for advanced degree. Seriously, a wonderful benefit for the free education for her. So many kids are saddled with huge student loans
This is a good job for her to get work experience, but I hope she will find an actual career soon. She would love to be a Disney historian. I told her she would probably have to go back to school for that.

Kids drove to NF, and went on the Maid of the Mist. They had a great time.
Looks like a fun place to be on a hot day.

That`s a shame, yes to get a degree and not fulfill it is a shame, sounds like she can do so much more. I`d definitely encourage her to go to Grad school, especially as no cost to her.
We are going to keep encouraging her. She needs a job that she can live independently on.

don`t think I`ve ever watched a full episode of the Simpsons (the shame) Never quite got it.
I haven’t either. Not my thing.

I’m in full procrastination mode today.
I have considered buying this shirt.

Went to give blood which was fine, until I went to stand up.....I didn`t faint, but felt very woozy, so they made me stay an extra 15 minutes,
I have given blood once in my life and it was not a good experience. I didn’t pass out, but came close. I wish I could donate because it is so important. My veins are difficult to find and I am a slow bleeder.

I have been absent for a while but am back on track
Welcome back.

Rock City is such a fun, kitchy place. I remember going there as a child.

I’m d-e-a-d. New site/new therapist. Massage is now off the table. Had me doing two different sort of planks and squats.
That sounds like pure torture.

We don’t have that fast stop place nor a Sheetz near us either. We do, have more than a few Wawa’s within a 10 or so minute drive.
We have several Sheetz and will be getting our first WaWa soon. It will be fairly close to my office.

We received an email that there was a gator sighting in one of the little lakes in our community in Florida.
Yikes! So glad that never happened when i was living in FL.

I should get back to work. Lunch in 30 minutes .

Nice pics!

We'd love an AGA. Maybe next house. No room or sufficient ventilation here.

Quick Taco Tuesday stop in!!!

We had a busy weekend. Weather was cr@ppy - wet and cold. But we did get to meet up with all the siblings on Sunday morning for brunch. Dh's youngest brother was flying in from their holiday to go visit his fiancƩ's dad in Newfoundland. So all his siblings were together for a couple hours and then they went to go visit their Grandma who is 102!!!! They got a great photo with all of them plus Grandma. Dh already uploaded it to our digital picture frame.

I got to go to my first live CFL football game. It was cool and wet. It drizzled most of the game. Then off to a local restaurant to watch the Oilers loose game one :sad1:...and now game 2 :sad2:.

The Oilers played well....but Florida is just playing just that much better. There were VERY little chances for our guys to score. Plus our guys got 3 major penalties - that WON'T help them win :worried: But it is great that they have come this far!!!!

Ugh....I don't know why it posted before I was ready!!!!!

Well, the flag football/cheer camp went well, nice weather for it this week.
That's awesome!!! And I would have to agree about pumpkin pie goes with turkey dinner!
Driving home today, going to take the longest most scenic route to Atlanta through the hills as it'll be the last time to see actual topography in person for a while. Atl to Jax is almost a billiard table.
Those were beautiful pictures
We had a small bear show up again last evening. It looks to be around one year old and was probably kicked out of the den by it's mother. We've chased it away twice now because it was trying to get into the bird feeders. Now we have to stop feeding the birds for a while. Our garbage cans are put away too. Little ones dont' look too scary bu Mama could be around.
Yikes - and yup with those smaller cubs and young bears - you never know if or where Momma is. Most Canadians have a healthy respect for bears. WE don't mess around with them and stay far away from them.

When my sister-in-law was in Jasper - there was a bear by their hotel/cabin they were staying in. It was a smart one who wouldn't go into the trap - so they were going to tranquillize it and airlift it ( helicopter ) it to a different area. If they are repeat offenders after being moved away from populated areas - sadly they are euthanized. But this was it's first offense - so it was airlifted out of the area.
I’am watching sweet little J for half day today. We went to the kids water splash park on Friday and he loved it. We will see how quickly the day warms up. If we can’t go today always another time.
How fun! That will make your day go by fast. Your countdown is coming fast and furious now!
Have a chicken slowly cooking in the Aga today which makes a kitchen extra cosy and warm, will make stock out of the bones and freeze it for chicken noodle soup sometime soon.
Yummy!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what it is about roast chicken / turkey. It is probably one of my favorite meals.
Trying to get in a quick post while at work. I have spent most of today and yesterday canceling and rescheduling appointments. So far we have had 18 cancellations this week.
I have also been dealing with a Medicare billing issue, but I think I finally have it figured out.
Those days are always fun :surfweb:

Well, I should go shuffle a few papers and book a couple new consults that I see have hit my work que.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Tuesday morning everyone :wave2:

Congratulations to your granddaughter on her wins.

Sounds like the best plan.

The weather this start to the summer around here has been strange too. It’s been hot in Florida. Will be a little adjustment with the heat and humidity.

It was so nice of you to donate blood Carole. Sorry to hear you had a spell after. It can happen. Good to hear all is well.

I used to be able to donate blood in my early 20’s then started having issues with anemia so I could not donate anymore. I take B12 to keep my hemoglobin elevated in normal limits.

I’am thankful there are folks like you who do donate.

Good to have you back Ruth.

Yes, those bears are cute, but sadly dangerous. You never know if the Mama Bear is near by and she will pounce for sure to protect here own.

I remember hubby and I stopped in the Smokies to do a walk and there were two bear cubs on the path from the parking area. We saw two couples approaching the cubs to take pictures. We told them to stop and not approach the cubs as the Mama Bear would not be far away and she would attack them if she saw them near her cubs. We went back to the parking lot where our car was. Don’t know if they listened or not as we left.

I was having issues with typing on the Dis the other day. It would just stop. Then I left the site and was having no problems. So I think it might be the Dis.

I hope you had a nice time with Louisa. She sounds like she is living life to hits fullest at her advanced age. It is so nice that she has you and your other friends to get her out for her shopping.

So good to have you back on the Sans you were missed.

Janet sounds like you are having intense PT. Hope all goes well for you.

Mac hope your eyes are doing well after your procedures.

It is only 52 this morning. Strange weather indeed for June the 11th. We are always warmer than this during this time of the year. Will warm up to upper 70’s this afternoon.

We received an email that there was a gator sighting in one of the little lakes in our community in Florida. It said they have contacted the proper authorities to have it trapped and removed. Of course it is in the one that runs behind our home….LOL
I have heard of others being in the neighborhood, but have never seen them.

I’am watching sweet little J for half day today. We went to the kids water splash park on Friday and he loved it. We will see how quickly the day warms up. If we can’t go today always another time.

Days until my vacation.

Need to get going this morning. Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone.

I have a couple of friends that had to stop giving blood for several reasons, I hope this was a one off for me, I really do think I was just overtired.

Had a nice morning with a surprisingly vibrant lady, she certainly has a way with her and very much a straight talker!

Thank you, I did miss posting for a time.

Hope you had a lovely day with the little guy, he is adorable!!!

Apparently I have very healthy veins!!! Nice to know something is working properly! Yes, I`m happy to donate regularly when I can.

Hope she`s better but glad the ear thing improved, that`s a dreadful pain. Yes, they need to get into a career as soon after they graduate as possible, but as you say at least she is working. All good wishes for her and I do hope she chooses to go back for further education and she can get into what she wants to do.

We'd love an AGA. Maybe next house. No room or sufficient ventilation here.

I think the newer ones work with less ventilation. I love ours and would replace it in a heartbeat, but they last a lifetime. We actually did replace ours a few years ago for the more up to date one, one of our friends bought ours when we said we were thinking of changing it as she always admired it, the newer ones are incredible.

We have a two part kitchen, so the Aga sits in the original old part of the house and fits in nicely with the original stone work, we built a large extension which is very modern and there we have the ceramic hobs and built in electric double oven too, we use our kitchen a lot, we love it. I think I do use the Aga more than anything else to be fair. You certainly wouldn`t regret getting one if you had the room. Yes, next time you move, make it a deal breaker to have room for one.

Glad you had a nice weekend, shame about the weather but sounds like a lovely weekend especially with grandma, that`s a picture to cherish.

Yup, roast chicken is a classic comfort food and you can do so many dishes with it.

Still cold out there, not going to get any warmer till the weekend. Kyle is running a 10K or half marathon on Sunday, so if it`s nice we`ll go watch the finish line, but this weather for the time of year is crazy.

Made a pepper sauce to go with the chicken, nice winter warming dish....in June lol

Heading over to Kyle`s tomorrow as he has a delivery coming, we`re happy to go and wait for it and pass some time there, it`s handy being only 20 minutes away.

About to watch a new Exorcist movie now, hope it`s scary!!

I have a decision to make. I have been researching flights for our November trip and may have found a good one.

Pros: It departs from our home airport which is about a 10 minute drive from my house.
The price is pretty low.
We can get a late afternoon return flight.

Cons: It is the basic economy fare which means once booked I can’t make any changes and only get a partial credit if we need to cancel.
The flight leaves at 5 a.m.

Maybe pro/maybe con: I would have to change our trip dates from November 11-15 to November 12-16. It makes the flight cheaper, but the hotel would be a little more expensive.

In other news……I have my first Christmas gifts for the year. These are going to go in dh and B’s stockings. Lynne was awesome and picked them up for me on her last Disney trip.

Thanks again Lynne!!

Finally, I will leave you with pictures of our dinner guests tonight. We had 6 total, but I couldn’t get them all in one shot.

Hi Pumpkin:

We have a lot of bears in our area. We live in N, Mn. with National Forests all around us. We have lots of woods and non populated areas. There are many places for bears to live around us.
We have had bears every Spring since we moved here. We have 5 wooded acres and the areas around us are all the same. We've had one very scary encounter, but mostly they raid the feeders. Then we put them away for 3 weeks or so and put the garbage in the garage, and they move on to other food sources.
It is scary to be out in the yard when they are out in the Spring, but it is a way of life for us. If one keeps coming back we just shoot a shotgun in the air, Not at the bear, and the sound scares them away. That's only if they won't leave and we can't get out into our own yard without fear.
I wish the bears didn't come around, but that's just part of living up here. We also have wolves in the area too, but thankfully not in our yard.

Believe me, we give the bears a lot of room and respect.

I wish they came as close to our home, but they do tend to stay where we can`t see them, any fruit that falls is usually devoured by them. But, you caught them beautifully.

Just thinking about it gives me the fear......

DisneySeniors, believe I would faint or wet my pants if I saw a bear a few feet or near me.

I can handle the snakes in our area but not a bear.

Now snakes are even worse than bears for me!!!! Irrational yes, but can`t bear snakes!!!

We have rain again this morning and bloomin cold, although sunshine is starting to appear as I type!!!

Exorcist movie sucked!!!! But then the original Exorcist was such a disappointment when I finally watched it. I avoided it for years thinking it would be too scary.....watched it and thought....is that it!!!! Truly dreadful and I think I`ve watched scarier Scooby Doo movies! Certainly not the scary level that was told to me by everyone, although folks think it`s funny as most loved it.

But, will be over at Kyle`s some of the day, they gave him a smaller time scale for the delivery now, between 10-2 which means we don`t need to be there before he sets off for work.

Bacon on a roll for breakfast and spicy chicken stir fry for dinner tonight, just need to pick up some fresh ginger and need to pop into the farm for eggs today too, I do like poached eggs for breakfast, Tom cooks them so well for me.

But, middle of the week again and longest day is just around the corner....we haven`t had any summer yet at all, barely had a spring!!!

Second pot of tea is brewing nicely, ready for another cuppa now, then breakfast once sleeping beauty has showered and dressed.

Ah, DH is like what day is it? Hehe, camel reminder here:
IMG_3562.jpeg

Yay, that mid week day, is our Wednesday, and glad that commute was fast, and boot up fast. Tea and a quiet office. Glad only one more day after today, as we all get over the hump feeling day today, and that most fabulous Friday then a day away. Yay, decided warmest day this week, so lazy Friday this week for me.

62 said the thermometer outside my door. No need for a jacket, still felt warm enough, and glad of the light cloud cover, as weather news guy said, early sunrise sun glare in some parts of our area. Yay, time of year so early that sunrise.

And woot! About time, early morning weather news said, better to mow your grass sooner than later, as a heat front coming next week. Bring on that summer heat now that most of our local kids are almost all out of school. Yay, once my local school district ends tomorrow, afternoon commute is just a little faster without the slow school zone and after school traffic is not around.

Sweet of Robo spending time with little J. Your trip is getting so much closer now.
Bears, yeah I’m not a snake fan either. We have both in my area.

And saw a late delivery, I guess, as saw a very small spotted baby deer at my sister’s. The mom was hanging around her salt block, as most of the time we only saw her. Guess that’s why. Great pictures of your backyard deer Charade, and you are welcome. Fun pins, and we buy pins for ourselves sometimes, so was no problem on the hunt for yours.

Back to that week day routine. And what a nice golden city horizon:

IMG_3563.jpeg

Good morning all.

Super slow day today. I have been at work for a little over an hour and have run out of things to do. I will pull out my problem file and see if I can get some issues resolved.

We have a lot of bears in our area.
I love bears but would not want to see one in my yard. Occasionally one gets spotted nearby, but so far I have not seen any. A few years ago one was spotted wandering through our local Honda dealership.

Beautiful creatures!!

I wish they came as close to our home, but they do tend to stay where we can`t see them, any fruit that falls is usually devoured by them. But, you caught them beautifully.
Thank you. They usually don’t get so close to the house. We’ve been seeing more of them since we cleared out the overgrowth in the back if the yard. We usually see only 2. This is the first time we have had 6.

I am loving this cooler weather and low humidity. Unfortunately it is going to start to get hot again.

I am off to find something to keep myself occupied for the rest of the day.

But it is great that they have come this far!!!!
They are back in the fold for what will likely be a great home stand.
Heading over to Kyle`s tomorrow as he has a delivery coming, we`re happy to go and wait for it and pass some time there, it`s handy being only 20 minutes away.

About to watch a new Exorcist movie now, hope it`s scary!!
Why do i expect another cleaning bout? Lol.

Running joke (& now expectation) that I ā€œrid upā€ when I stop by the kid’s houses.
In other news……I have my first Christmas gifts for the year. These are going to go in dh and B’s stockings. Lynne was awesome and picked them up for me on her last Disney trip.

Well, 10 min away, could leave your house @ 3:30 and have plenty of time lol

Can you buy insurance thru the carrier that affords cancellation? It tends to be offered on the low cost ones. Otherwise, cancel for any reason trip insurance might be reasonable for that sort of non ref travel. Can price out at various clearing house sites. Insure my trip is easily navigatable.
It is scary to be out in the yard when they are out in the Spring, but it is a way of life for us.
Yikes, that is an understatement! I was surprised to discover how fast bears can run when they feel it.

Exorcist movie sucked!!!!
That’s disappointing to hear.

I could leave at 4:00 and still have plenty of time. One of the advantages to having a tiny airport.
Haha, that is so nice. only because we have a 6:50 am flight on Sunday, do we get to linger and leave house @ 4 am. The hotel that is attached to the airport has been sold out for weeks due to a function.

SWA out of our area now has their AM NS flight of day to MCO departing @ 5 am. We’ve booked it. After them twice not having a crew in place (due to mandatory down time overnight), that was the final straw to cross that one off our list going forward

Yes, we expected more from the movie, many liked it but I`ve never been impressed by them in general.....same with zombies......lol.....not scary at all.....:duck:

I`m sure your flowers are lovely, I`m quite pleased with ours this year (not my work sadly) there are some gorgeous ones coming out around us.

Lavendar is one of my favourite plants, love the smell when it`s blooming and it`s popping up everywhere, but we do have a lot of lavendar fields in the area so maybe that`s why.

Yes, that laburnum tree is poisonous, it`s well away from the house so I`m guessing the deer/foxes and so on know to avoid it, but it is beautiful.

lol…..yes I did do a little, he is incredibly tidy anyway, but I put on a wash for him and cleaned his main bathroom….it didn’t really need it, but…something to do to pass the time. Yup, it’s what we do lol

Gorgeous morning, still a bit on the chilly side, but hopefully changing for the weekend!! I never tire of this view, no industrial views here, just open sea.

Heading off this morning to a butcher we like about 40 minutes away, that`s about my highlight today I think. We love his home cured bacon, but they only have so much a week, same with their speciality sausages, they are gorgeous!

Not much going on for us today, Tom is out volunteering this afternoon so I might pop over and visit a friend or maybe just chill out. Planning to have steak for dinner tonight, will pick them up this morning, hoping to get them cooked outside, but not sure about that, see how the weather is.

Will finish my cuppa then head out I think, garden centre stop off too....only for their cafe and kitchen products.....I don`t think we`ve ever ventured into the outside area there.

Happy Thursday

Ah, thirsty Thursday is here, and I’m doing my part with a mug of tea in the almost too cool office.

Quick commute, as thank you the two cars in front of me turning as we got on the road into the city. Was the only one until much closer to the complex. Woot! All green lights, unlike yesterday.

And yay, like Keisha, warming up, with full sun today, and for the rest of the week. No matter the early morning was 65 degrees. 88 the high in the city. Woot! Summer coming sooner. Next week, 6 day forecasted highs are: 83, 89, 95, 94, 94 and 95.

And how fitting, the-predicted high temp on a business holiday. Woot! Mid week holiday next week, camel and I am happy about that lazy day and the high of 95 with full sun all day. Hmm, maybe a shore trip that day. Pack that suntan lotion for sure, and hat also in car now too.

And hair salon visit today, as afternoon commute will end there, before going home. My salon is nice, they do give me a time, but say, whenever you get here around that time. I can never have the exact time ride out of the city. Some times, I’m a little early, sometimes a little late, and once in a while, right on time. It’s a small salon, so not that busy on a late afternoon on a week day. I’d much rather go then, rather than on the Saturday, which is the only weekend day they are open. And I’ve gone on a Saturday, and much busier. So I switched to that Thursday late afternoon slot, quite a long time ago now.

Good morning to all. Have a Terrific Thirsty Thursday today. And a yay, Keisha’s house looking colorful with her planting the flowers.

I’m bored.

Slow day today and I’ve run out of problems to research.

I thought I had found a good flight out of Roanoke. Only $198 round trip. The problem is that it arrives in Orlando just after midnight. I don’t want to be getting in that late.
I just hope B can get those days off work. I won’t book flights until I know for sure.

I don’t think I have ever taken a 5 am flight before. I wish SW flew out of my airport or Roanoke. They have some good rates for my trip, but the added expenses of going to Richmond negate the savings.

I never tire of this view, no industrial views here, just open sea
It always looks so tranquil.

I need to go find something to do. I don’t even have an insurance company to argue with today.

Agree with you Charade, would never like to arrive late at night. Sadly, we have had delays that have put us at that midnight hour, and even later. I actually like those crack of dawn flights. You get there early, and have plenty time to take an afternoon nap, and enjoy a longer day. Our September flights changed, 1/2 hour later down and almost 2 hours later back. But I’m not changing them, as the only other direct flight down was 6 pm, and the only two direct back, were crack of dawn or lunchtime. So we get a little later start, and a longer day coming back. Hope you are at a lunch break soon.

Almost ready for my lunchtime walk. Yay!
