Something About Nothing............ #14

Poor dh is in the process of getting 6 crowns.
That has to be a record.

I’m annoyed with Target. Generally, know my sizing in their specific brands. I reordered bunch of the same items I did a year ago in athletic wear (lululemon dupes). It’s rarely in stock in our local, smaller store.

Not only was the sizing way off, both under & over on the various items but; the material is of that nasty 80’s heavy polyester.

How will I go on lol.

3, Just the three of us. That pic has been edited to lighten it. the lighting was decidedly off in the CB chucky experience

In my retirement role as family’s personal assistant today I’m bopping around a bit. Enjoy it, keeps me active and Gets me out of the house

Heading out to pick up 80# of cat litter that WM forgot to put in trunk yesterday for the grand cats

Need to break down the packages of Sam’s club chicken & ground chicken into serving sizes, then take up to jrs. Looking forward to playing with the grand cats

There’s times a pot full isn’t big enough for me.

Hope you are getting around well with the boot

I made that statement, complaining after being told I needed another, at the dental specialist I went for consult few years back

Dentist deadpanned looked me in the eye and asked “how many times ‘have’ you drowned?”
Guessing a frustrated comedian.

What a wake uo
Call via the fire alarm. Ugh

I did the annual sweep of all my cars nooks & crannies before last trip

usually find family’s cast off sunglasses. The sort rarely over $10. I do a last call, if not claimed by anyone, toss them

Turns out, this year only found one pair I thot was $ store cheap knockoffs & just tossed them, hurriedly.

didn’t realize they were “authentic” Pit Vipers. Still waiting for manufacturer to ship replacement. Least I got free shipping.

Good day all

Lordy help us from frustrated comedians!!

I`ve yet to meet one person who doesn`t struggle with them. Annoyingly there is a way to do it now without the gunk, but very expensive equipment I imagine. Still, don`t need another till late March I think.

It must be faulty as he put it back earlier and it`s still going off. So we`ll drop it into the fire station this morning and they`ll give us a replacement which is a good system they run. We knew it wasn`t the batteries as that is quite a gentle shriek in comparison to a real alarm. We do have another at the bottom of the staircase and another two downstairs so we`re not without a smoke alarm.

Love that picture with Chucky.....yes, lighting is an issue with some pictures there for sure.

Hope you enjoyed your bopping about yesterday, like that expression!!!

I think this has been the slowest work week in a long time. I just finished everything I have to do for today and there’s still 1.5 hours left until lunch.

Tonight we have a football game. It seems weird to be going to one on a Thursday.

I am one of the weird people who don’t mind going to the dentist, but I’ve also never needed any serious dental work. Poor dh is in the process of getting 6 crowns.

I hate it when we forget to change the batteries. Last time it happened B was home alone. She had never dealt with the alarms before so she had to call dh at work and have him walk her through the process.

I think we are supposed to have one more nice day tomorrow and then rain and much cooler on Saturday. I guess it’s a good thing that our football game is tonight.

I need to go find something to keep me occupied.

You are very lucky indeed to have such good teeth!! 6 crowns is a lot at one time, I got four in the 1980`s and have regretted it ever since.

Yes, it`s a tricky little battery to change if you`ve never done it, I wish this had just been a battery, would have been much quieter going off!!! Just needs replacing now.

****I win my bet****

Had a much better sleep last night, no disturbances except for one huge gust of wind around 1am, but I got back over immediately, it was very windy, still breezy this morning but not as bad.

Fire station visit this morning, we also need to exchange a fire extinguisher, the date is coming up for either a check or exchange. Then need to go pick up some celery and tonic water that`s it. Then hopefully no shopping till Monday, always like to avoid the stores on the weekend, far too busy.

Doing chicken casserole in the slow cooker today, won`t put it on till I get back in as we have no celery and I need garlic too. I don`t like raw celery, neither does Tom but we do like it cooked down in large chunks in a casserole.

BLT for lunch and going to toast the scones from yesterday with some fruit for breakfast and a mighty pot of tea, best way to start the day.

Well, hot fireman alert!!!

Popped into our main fire station to swap out the smoke alarm....turns out they`ve gone back to fitting them again for anyone who wants them to.........woooohoooo!!! So this afternoon we have three firemen coming to refit them all and have a safety check, sounds good to me!!!

Tom just laughed........lol......

Time for lunch, BLT`s and some spicy crisps on the side and a nice pot of tea.......🫖

Ooh Friday is here. Time to get the car serviced. Loud truck heard up our street. Guess a need for some neighbor.

Cloud covered day, but at least it’s in the mid 60’s, and still will be seeing close to 80 by the afternoon.

Fabulous Friday to all.

Well, hot fireman alert!!!
Not going to argue with that

had a rash of fires in nearby town, all empty properties

first thing I tend to think of is the fire-bug is possibly a fireman…bingo.

Quite sad, as so many in my “ex” family volunteered for most of their lives in that capacity.

Enjoy, that front hit our area today…official goodby to last gasp of Indian summer.

That phrase may now be unPC, if so, my apologies. It’s difficult to keep up.
It will be a fabulous Friday for me when the temps are not 80.

Good morning. I think my body is trying to catch up on missed sleep this week. I just woke up a little while ago.
Our team won the football game last night. We are now 5-0. One more win and we will be bowl eligible.

Yay for the holiday Monday. Like having bonus Friday taken off, so four day weekend. Woot!
I had to go look and see what holiday it was. I have to work.

Not only was the sizing way off, both under & over on the various items but; the material is of that nasty 80’s heavy polyester.
I’m having flashbacks to the awful uniform I had to wear when I worked for McDonalds.

You are very lucky indeed to have such good teeth!!
I do believe it is luck. Someone once asked me if it was genetics. Nope. My dad wore a full set of dentures, my mom had a partial set. My brother has had just about every procedure there is - fillings, root canal, crowns, etc. , and my sister was the cavity queen when we were kids and also had some gum disease at one point. I’m not sure how I got such good teeth. Thankfully B has had the same luck so far.

It will be a fabulous Friday for me when the temps are not 80.
lol
High 70s here today and dropping into the 60s tomorrow. Unfortunately tomorrow we also get rain.

I need to get up and start being productive. I need to go to Hobby Lobby and pick up 2 pictures I had framed.
I just finished this little project while I was waiting for my new thread to arrive.

Send it over here......although we have high 60`s, it`s blowing a hoolie, so looks miserable out there!!

80 would be nice right now!

Never had a fireman in our family, all Army or Police Officers on one side, Navy on the other for some reason.

Yes, have heard of that with the fires, shame as it reflects badly on all decent firefighters.

Indian summer is ok in my book, common expression here........

One more day..woohooooooo....yep, all that sunshine is waiting for you!!! :sunny::sunny::sunny:

Glad you were blessed with the good teeth! It isn`t fun, glad your daughter has the same.

That little sloth is cute........

Yes, I`ll admit it........I`m shallow. But, there is something about a handsome fireman ........and they were!! The older guy waited in the fire truck while we got two of them in our home. Replaced the smoke alarms and went through some safety things......nice chatting with them though, lovely guys.

Almost 4pm and almost time to put the lamps on, very dark afternoon here, but cosy.

Chicken casserole smells beautiful, still to decide if I`m doing mini roast potatoes or a creamy mash.....hmmm. Either one works.

Looks like rain soon.........but, love a cosy Friday night!!!

No way, that’s perfect. I’ll be quoting you for days lol

Congrats to your team for such a strong showing!

Carole that’s some service re the alarms. Here you are on your own in our area

It really is a good service. They would be happy to go out to every home if asked, he said we`d be amazed how many folks don`t have a smoke alarm in their home!! Can`t imagine. And it`s a free service too, so you`d think more folks would welcome them being fitted.

Hope you all have a wonderful visit back to sunshine land!!!!

Had another late sleep this morning, it was lovely, Tom got up first, showered and went downstairs, by the time I got down he had bacon and poached egg on toast ready for me, doubt I`ll need lunch today as he had made a pile of toast too! On my fourth cup of tea now.

But decided some of the gang hadn`t got together for too long, so tonight, dinner for 12 including us. Having some of them over for a proper dinner, no take out, no bbq, proper sit down dress up dinner party.

Making, as requested haggis bon bons as one of the pre appetisers, I don`t eat them but mostly everyone else does. Appetisers of scallops and shrimp in garlic butter or pate that Tom is making today, and a huge rib of beef for entree, need to cook 2 pieces of halibut as two don`t like beef, I`ll do that and several side dishes including au gratin potatoes. So a busy afternoon of cooking and prep, won`t take long to sort out wine, cocktails and soft drinks.

Every couple is bringing a dessert, so I`ll do a cheeseboard to go along with them. We are really looking forward to this as it`s been too long.

So that`s my Saturday taken care of. Tom is making the pate right now, not my thing at all....certainly not from scratch.....ewww!! But everyone loves it.

Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday :sunny:

We did not get the rain today I thought we would get. Today turned out to be a beautiful day. It is cool enough for me to open the windows in the house. Caspian is enjoying the fresh air.

IMG_9774.jpeg

My nice, calm day will soon be interrupted with college football. Dh’s team is playing this afternoon. B is thinking about going to the library to get away from football. This Dr. Pepper commercial pretty much describes our house on gameday.

And a good Sunday morning!!

Dinner went well last night, everyone got dressed up which was lovely and it all went along nicely. Food turned out as it should be and everyone enjoyed everything on offer, they brought some lovely desserts and we all had a wonderful time with a lot of laughter.

I was glad we had decided to just get some of us altogether, although as always, the last ones didn`t leave till around 2.30am, and no overnight guests to look after this morning with breakfast. And Tom always clears up anything left before we go to bed, he knows I hate coming down to untidiness in the morning after a night like that....bless him, I crawled into bed as soon as the last couple left!

So, with a few hours sleep, I got up and popped the diced beef in the slow cooker, I did manage to marinade it before everyone arrived last evening, so it`ll simmer away till tonight when I`ll do some creamy mash to go with it and extra carrots roasted.

Might pop out to do some shopping today, watch the Grand Prix later and not much else going on today. Definitely bacon this morning with toast and lots of tea, not hungover or anything like that, but just need some tea and lots of it.

Have a wonderful Sunday :sunny:

And hope the keishas are having an absolute blast in Orlando!!!!

Yay, Keisha doing more park fun. Great picture. Have a fabulous time. Yeah, I thought even when we went end of September, seemed much more crowded than years past. We are at 60 this close to afternoon. I’d take 80 degrees any day of the year. ::yes::

Lil sad ‘only’ going to 80 today…

it’s in the 40s at home lol

Parks were holiday crowded yesterday Hhn tonight

A keisha sighting!!!

Lovely picture Janet, captures the atmosphere there for sure.

Lily is such a pretty young lady, and very classy looking, she has always held herself well, very good posture. You look good too M`lady ::yes::

Curious minds want to know what your drink is though......:)

I think someone shared a bug last night!!! I`ve shouted at them all through a txt asking who has smitten my husband with something......lol......he`s just a little achy and feels a little chilled, sleeping right now as I packed him off to bed for a couple of hours. And yes, one admitted she had been under the weather with the same thing on Friday, shared from her husband on Thursday. Seems to last 24 hours.

Hope so as we have plans to go to a shopping centre tomorrow for an all day shopping fest! Can easily postpone it till Tuesday I guess.

So, beef is hot, mash is almost ready as we wanted to eat before the Grand Prix.......I think it might be a reheat later. It`ll still be good.

But, lovely lazy Sunday here for us......

Another quiet evening here......

Ruth...where are ooooooo :)

I don`t think we`ll be spending the day shopping today, will postpone it till tomorrow or Wednesday, no issues there doing that. Tom feels better but not 100%, so a couple of hours drive then a day shopping is not going to be the best idea for him.

I made a chicken, leek and bacon quiche yesterday for lunch, so we`ll have the other half today for lunch with some coleslaw and salad and pulled pork for dinner tonight, might just do that with some wraps and again, salad and coleslaw. Don`t think Tom will be moving far today.

So, will potter around and do some baking maybe, will be a good nursemaid to my lovely husband too some TLC works wonder along with lots of tea and sympathy.

Will take him up a cuppa soon and he said he just fancied some toast for breakfast, so I`ll do the same. Looks to be not a bad day here, much warmer again than is usual for this time of year, I don`t mind above average temperatures!!

Monday again.......hope it`s a good one whatever you may be doing :)

Hi Carole! I am here!
I've just been really busy lately and I move slower, so I don't get as much done each day:) So haven't had much time for the SANs lately, but hope to keep up!

Also depressed over the Vikings awful football play! They are losers this year, but that's nothing unusual, LOL.

I know you dont' like football but I am addict, I admit. I watch way more than Roger does - at least 10 hours on Sundays, and then on Monday Night and Thursday night. That's all  I know you and Tom are racing addicts so we each have our vices:)

I tried the pork in the crockpot recipe that you shared. It was a big hit with Roger and me. He doesn't know where this great recipe came from, and I'm not telling:teeth: Thank you so much for that!

The trees are gorgeous now and the weather is turning much cooler. 40's today and hope to make it to 50! I still hung clothes out, LOL.:laundy: When the temp gets below 40 then I quit:(

My mother's 96th birthday is next week and she wants to go gambling for her BD! Gotta love her:) So, I will take her to a local casino that she likes. I feel that as long as she can do what she wants, she should do it. There are so many Indian casinos around this state! We have one 10 minutes away, 2 30 minutes away. several an hour away, and the best ones are 90 miles away:eek:. I admit that in my gambling days I have hit most of them:). Now I am not too interested in that and spend my time quilting, crocheting baby blankets and sweaters mostly, doing puzzles, and spending time with loved ones. I Love being Retired:)

Gotta go check the clothes on the line (I am sooo happy to do this):banana:I thought I was the only one who loved doing laundry until I met Carole, LOL.
I'll try to be on the SANs more but honestly, I don't have much to say most of the time.

Quick hello from work.
We had a very lazy Sunday. We overslept and missed church. Oops. We basically spent most of the day watching racing and football.

I know you dont' like football but I am addict, I admit. I watch way more than Roger does - at least 10 hours on Sundays, and then on Monday Night and Thursday night.
You and my husband would get along well. He even watches arena football.

Must get back to work.

I love the sound of your mum!! That`s my kinda gal......sounds like she has a lot of get up and go!!

Yep, laundry lovers unite!!! Yep, we all have our favourite things to watch.....I wish I did like football but I loathe it, especially British football, unless it`s the World Cup that`s the only time we watch it. Weirdly all my siblings love football, really love it, not sure what happened to me there! Tom isn`t a fan either, like me he`ll watch the world cup and that`s about it.

And so glad to hear Roger enjoyed the pork, it`s one of those recipes that is so simple, but tastes amazing! I`ll keep that secret! Yes, being happily retired is the best, we love our time is our own and we do everything together which is the best!!

It`s lovely to see you post on here, and you do always have something interesting to say, always good to see your posts!!

Yes, we all shared a cold a couple of weeks back, and he is back to normal now thanks.

Hope your day goes past quickly.

Weirdest October weather for years. Warm today, it could even be described as hot, but incredibly humid. Hung some washing out today, the sun dried most of it, but some felt damp in some parts, not a single breath out there. And no need for a jacket either, even early this morning, but we don`t usually get such humidity.

Tom is much better, so heading for a day of shopping tomorrow, will have some lunch out as we`ll be there a while, but hope we can get some things we both like. Might look for some household things too, but it`ll be a nice day hopefully.

Watching some Taggart on tv, but think it`ll be an early night for us, both of us are yawning our heads off and it`s just after 8!!

Cuppa tea I think.

Well, we did have an early night after all, thought I might sleep later as it`s so dark in the mornings now, but, woke up and thought it was around 2am, but nah, I was wide awake. Sleeping beauty is however, still asleep.

Heading off for some shopping today and lunch out, I have an idea of what we want which is never usually ideal, it`s better going with no idea what we want, we tend to buy more that way, but hopefully we`ll get what we want.

Looks to be a glorious day so dress and sandals is in order, but weather could change Wednesday or Thursday, looks like rain and much cooler then.

Doing bacon sandwiches for breakfast, that`ll keep us going till lunchtime.

Have a wonderful Tuesday whatever you may be doing!
