Something About Nothing............ #14

Yay for Robo’s grandson, as I like that cake too. Sounds like a delicious meal, and bet they will appreciate all the gifts. Nice of you to get up early for hosting the lunch for your family.

Charade, people are so odd, when they are concerned about your property. At least trees at the back of your property should look nice. Guardians is a sharp turning roller coaster, but most in the dark. No real drops, but top speed as you go backward is about 60 mph. So like Space Mountain, but faster and smoother in my opinion. I like the cars rotate along the track and at the end. Also a fan of the music they play during the ride. We have heard two different songs, but not sure if they are more, as two of the three rides we did had the same song, with part of the ride having the sound not working the first time we rode it.

I should get moving, but decided to relax before having to go out and shop for charging cords and any grocery requests.

never had Domino’s in the US, over here they are overpriced garbage! Our local pizza places are half the price and a million times better.
Never had franchise in our area, mostly local places. Ever since Covid those ones nearly doubled their prices& use cheap cheese…the sort that leaves puddles of grease on top you need to soak up with paper towels

Yuck

I had taken to getting s better offering at Sam’s club and that’s not saying much lol

This franchise is hitting out of the park
going to be a nice day and in the mid 70`s which is unusual for us in October, but we`ll take it.
Same here, a really beautiful day in the neighborhood. The smaller varieties of maple trees just starting to turn red.

Eek nosebleed. Allergies maybe?
was thinking we may have to wait until Thanksgiving, but then realized that is a blockout week for seasonal pass holders.
Funny, I just looked, trying to decide if I’m going to renew my AP-pref.

Had thot to Drop down to seasonal but 11/25 blocked out the date I needed as WDW pass is also blocked out. At least the U power is good those dates

May just do SW for their Xmas stuff that day. Their nativity show is great.

Only a half day for us, if snow May be delayed anyway. Decisions decisions

If anyone needs me I will be at Keisha’s house
Lol plenty to go around
and there was a request for manhattan pot roast with all the trimmings
I’m going to need to Google that.
Our grandson in law really likes pineapple upside down cake so I try and make it when he is coming over of meal.
I’m with him. Yum. Only one who eats it here. No idea if it would freeze well if I portion it into serving sizes
The vacuum sealing machine is easy enough to use. I packaged some meat using it. I will see how it goes
Always curious about that. I go thru a lot of freezer zip bags

Good morning. I am up way too early for a Sunday. The cat woke me around 5:30. I tried to get back to sleep but got a nosebleed. I can’t remember when or if I have ever had one before. I finally got that under control but now it’s almost time for me to get up and start the day.

We had a nice anniversary dinner on Friday. We went to one of my favorite restaurants. Didn’t really do anything yesterday. We had a guy come to clear out the back of our backyard. It had become very overgrown.

Now our backyard neighbor is angry with us. Apparently he liked the overgrowth because it hid our property from his. He claimed we took out some of his trees (we didn’t) and threatened to call the sheriff and charge us with trespassing. Dh and the lawn guy talked to him and agreed to plant a few new trees on his property that will cover the open area. You can’t even see his house from our yard.

Thank you.

Hope you are feeling better today.

I was thinking we may have to wait until Thanksgiving, but then realized that is a blockout week for seasonal pass holders. It’s difficult to schedule vacation around dh’s work schedule. We either have to do spring break, summer, thanksgiving week, or December.

Too soon to think about that though I wonder if we will get any this year. We got none last year.

I’m sure anything you do will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Thank you.

How did you like the Guardians ride? I hear it makes some people sick, but I don’t mind spinning rides.

Thank you.

Thank you.

If anyone needs me I will be at Keisha’s house.

Almost time for me to get up. After church today we are going to a surprise anniversary party for a couple from church. They have been married for 50 years.

That was very generous of you, tresspassing is quite a severe charge to make, it does look good.

Hope the surprise party was fun.

Good Sunday morning Sans family :wave2:

Janet hope the intestinal issues resolve for you soon. Love the Eleven count down.

It did seem like a fast September for sure.

Dinner sounds delicious.

Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast. Don’t make it very often. It is a treat.

You and your family have a wonderful Sunday too.

Up this morning before the day light. Family coming over for lunch and there was a request for manhattan pot roast with all the trimmings. So I needed to get up and get that in the crockpot at 6 this morning. The meat and onion and carrots and the seasonings are in the pot and it has been started. I will do the whipped potatoes later and make gravy. Think I will make a tossed salad too. Have to make a pineapple upside down cake.

Our grandson in law really likes pineapple upside down cake so I try and make it when he is coming over of meal.

I will give everyone their HHN shirts and backpacks they picked out at lunch.

Yesterday I went shopping and bought a new knife set for the kitchen and a vacuum sealing food machine. I went by the meat store and stocked up on some meat. The vacuum sealing machine is easy enough to use. I packaged some meat using it. I will see how it goes. Now I need to reorganize the pantry to make room for it.

Can’t decide if I want to try and go back to sleep or not.

Guess I will give it a try.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

I`ve never made that type of cake before, glad it`s popular. Yes, breakfast and dinner were beautiful, Tom makes the perfect poached eggs and I make a mean sauce, so it works out well for us!

Hope you have a lovely day with family.

home from church and should have stopped at the grocery store before I went home.

Guess we can order pizza out for dinner tonight instead of cooking.

nothing wrong with that!!

Pizza is always a good choice!

Why`d it have to be snakes.........bleurgh!!

Another bleurgh for the cheap cheese pizzas!!! Yep, I`d rather pay for quality anyday.

Hope the game gets better for you, and enjoy those steaks!!

What was supposed to be a chatty catching up day, ended up with a stress filled call to our internet supplier, my email address is apparently gone, never existed and isn`t coming back!! Weirdly I could see emails/contact details on my ipad but laptop tells me it`s forbidden! 74 minutes on the phone to them and they still couldn`t solve it. I`ve had the same email address for years! I do have other email addresses but that was my main one that everyone has in America.

Tom eventually worked out a way for me to keep the same email address, but it`s a new account now. Had to manually add all my contacts, still haven`t finished that job! But, bliddy annoying, they were useless.

Tonight, will finish adding contacts. I will get to reply to emails hopefully tomorrow!

Very mild day today, going to be lovely tomorrow too, might try to get a walk in I think.

Dinner was lovely, it`s hard to beat slow cooked beef, very tender and it was so full of flavour.

Relaxing tonight, some tv and a cuppa.

Looking at the before and after photos looks like the guy you hired to clean things up did a great job. Looks like he cleaned out some dead trees on your property.

Sounds like your neighbor was being unreasonable. He should have been happy with you cleaning up your property of the bushes and dead trees. I bet he would have come complaining for you clean up that area if one of those trees fell over during a storm.

As long as you have your lot plan that shows your lot size and boundaries of your property and you have proof you did not disturb anything on his property he should not be bothering you.

Buying trees to appease him is a costly venture. Has he agreed to to care for the trees and fertilize them and water them to help them stay healthy and grow. Hope this does not turn into an ongoing thing with the neighbor.

Technology is wonderful when it works. It should not be that complicated to fix.

Tom eventually worked out a way for me to keep the same email address, but it`s a new account now. Had to manually add all my contacts, still haven`t finished that job! But, bliddy annoying, they were useless.
Glad to hear Tom was able to get things fixed and you can keep your email name.

Hope you have a lovely day with family.
We did thank you Carole.

Good to hear your dinner was so nice. Sounds good.

Everyone has gone home. It was a nice meal and everyone enjoyed themselves. I made extra food so they would have plenty to take home with them. I also sent them home with Chicken Noodle soup I made the other day. So they were happy campers.

They all liked he HHN shirts that they picked out and the girls loved their Lil Boo backpacks.

I did get some laundry and light house keeping done today so I feel like I accomplished something’s that needed to be done. Plus enjoyed some family time.

I‘am kicked back with my feet propped up and my Halloween lights on. So just chilling for the rest of the evening.

Have a wonderful Sunday evening everyone.

Glad you had a lovely day Robbie, spending time with family and friends is always priceless, and glad they enjoyed their gifts from HHN!! And nothing nicer than sharing food we`ve cooked, everyone loves that.

Yes, technology is fabulous, but the minute it turns....I`m lost!!! I think we always expect companies to be able to fix everything, but it was just incredulous that he kept telling us my email address never existed!!

We slept for over 10 hours last night, very unusual, went to bed at 10pm and woke around 7 this morning, we always sleep well, but to sleep for that length of time, well, it was nice!!

Bit dull looking outside today, not going to be cold though, we only need to go out for some fresh produce today, so will bake this afternoon as I never got around to it yesterday, so that`ll pass my day, as well as adding more contacts to my "new" email and reply to others!!

Will pop into the butcher and pick up some sausages for tonight, he does a variety of flavours so will see what he has, I have kept some gravy from yesterday so will do sausages, creamy mash and some roasted veg and add that peppery beefy gravy for serving. Breakfast will be toast and marmalade for me, Tom tends to stick to cereal when I have that.

Dental appointment on Wednesday this week for the dreaded and utterly loathed experience of getting impressions done....not looking forward to that one, not getting the implant drilled into the bone till the end of the month, Halloween itself actually. He said I won`t be in pain by the time we leave for Orlando about two and a half weeks later. Joy.

Time for a shower then breakfast, I could get used to sleeping this late in the mornings!!

Ah back to that week day routine. Ugh. Going through all that has happened, way too many to review, but going through it to clean up as much as I can.

So dark out. Clear sky seen as threw out the last of the trash in 59 degree weather. Gorgeous week of mostly of sunny weather and close to 80 in the late afternoons. Shorts are still the choice. Yay! Next week, ah those shorts need to be put away. And that’s usually the case. I remember my kids wearing shorts most of the first month they were in school.

But cooler weather is what we get in October, and the trees are starting to show their yellows and some gold, but lots of green still seen. Waiting to see those beautiful shades of orange and brown. Grass not dormant yet. Still green, and DH mowed the grass this weekend. Soon it will start to look like hay.

So hope all have a Marvelous Monday, and glad Robo had time to relax after family visit yesterday. And agree, we rely on emails and connectivity to do almost all now, including payments and purchases.

We had about 3 and a half hours to burn before getting to the airport. We always start and end our trip with a MIB ride. Well, this last trip, we arrived so late, we had that ride three days later.

And just to say, we were very lucky at the airport. Little one has yet to get her pre check, I do, but she was through security faster than me. Just to say around 4:30 that afternoon, the airport looked very less crowded. The parks on the other hand, seemed much more crowded to us, arriving around noon. Seemed many were entering even before 3 pm, as many dressed as looking like they are doing that stay and scream hold. It was on a weekend day, so that does make sense. Though interesting, when we entered the Studios, there was a big sign sidewalk sign, next to guest services, saying HHN private and public tours were available. So for those hoping to score one, even that day, may be lucky. I didn’t go to see what was available, but never hurts to ask if you see that sign.

With four park trips this year and four last year, I think we are done with parks for awhile, though with my pass expiring in April, and little one’s in next November, we may try a short week sometime in the early part of next year. Next year, a family trip is what we are planning, and with DH not able to do almost all rides, another place, with a big time change is where we’re thinking. And then there’s always a cruise, as we have enjoyed the ones we have done in the past, and my one brother and wife just got back from one. Itchy fingers, but will be looking more in earnest around the holidays, to see what deals are for the next year. And like my little one said, with my plan to be a part time resident, it’s now less than 5 years away, and then park fun whenever I feel like it. I’ll be at my week day routine for 32 years next week. Time really does fly. Started the Friday before the holiday Monday this month.

And ooh two birthdays this month. My parents thought to have two of us five kids, one born this week, one year, and one born next week, 6 days later, the year after. With my older one born the beginning of November, we will celebrate all three at Thanksgiving. We tend to group our extended family birthdays together when most of us are together.

Ooh almost ready for that lunchtime walk, with all bright sunshine, rocking those shades too.

Happy Monday. It’s actually a slow one for me today.
When we got back home after the party yesterday the landscaper was already planing the new trees along the property line. We were going to pay for half, but he took full responsibility and said that his insurance would cover the cost. Hopefully this will appease the neighbor.

So apparently we encroached onto his property by about 2-3 feet. Dh did check our lot with the county, but our landscaper went back a little too far. The border was not clearly marked like the neighbor said it was. He only took out a few dead trees, but the neighbor acted as if he had cut down nice, live ones. I think he just saw the opportunity to get some new trees. They are his responsibility now. Oh, guess what the neighbor does for a living. He owns a landscaping company. I know who not to hire now.

Love the Chucky meme!!

lol....that is one big wedgie!!!! yes, some folks will try to pull one over on companies given the chance.

I agree the folks at guest services in the parks and front line hotel people deserve medals for what they put up with at times. I`m sure they have a naughty list at the parks as I`m sure the hotels do too for folks like that, the habitual complainers and their ilk. I`d rather cut my fingers off than behave like that.

Our impression gunk is pink....lol....I think!!! Is it though?? Now I forget as it`s so long since I last had impressions. Yes, it`s something that unless you struggle with it people have no idea how bad it can be. This is the first time I`ve seen this guy for impressions....lol....he knows though that I struggle, so hopefully he`ll be patient!! Yes, I think I`ll need a treat afterwards!!!

I`ve never made sausages either, but I`m with you on only buying good quality ones, best of ingredients or don`t bother. Our village butcher is fabulous, if you don`t get down early on a morning, they`re all gone! We made it in time this morning and got some beautiful pork and leek ones!!

More stress today with the email.....and yes, that sleep was amazing!!!

You do get your share of wildlife there....still remember the bear waving at you......lol

How coincidental he is a landscaper!!! As you say, his responsibility now, he sounds a charmer!!!

Glad the party was a success though.

Went out early and enjoyed a lovely walk, very calm and mild, popped into our butcher and then farm store before heading home.

Now my emails are all not sending......I am not a patient person at all, but tomorrow will contact them again to get it sorted out.

I don`t seem to be getting all emails that are being sent either, I know of two I haven`t received on the laptop, will go check my ipad now!!!!

Chucking it down with rain here.......

I blinked and it was Monday morning. The weekend went by way too quick - like it always does.

Cool crisp fall day here today. The sun is shinning - but the wind is chilly. Oh well - it is October.

I got some baking done. I whipped up some bread, some tasty cheesy garlic buns, and last night was make your own pizza night - with homemade dough. I will say - they all came out quite tasty. I used a different recipe for the loaves of bread - and I think I'll be using that one going forward. The cheesy garlic buns went great with the chicken stew I made on Saturday night.

There was some puttering and cleaning in the house too over the weekend. I might need to take a day or two off - I have 25 vacation days to use up yet - and do some serious house cleaning. I'll have to see how things go here at the full-time job. I might need to do a little more training of the one who is my replacement when I'm on holidays.

Now our backyard neighbor is angry with us. Apparently he liked the overgrowth because it hid our property from his. He claimed we took out some of his trees (we didn’t) and threatened to call the sheriff and charge us with trespassing.
That looks great! Too bad your neighbor has to act that way. Why do people feel the need to be so aggressive like that? I think that your part of the peace offering was MORE than generous. If it was me - he would have heard an earful with maybe a rude gesture thrown in. Sometimes you just need to do things like to clean up an area or it becomes a fire hazard and a critter catcher for little critters to live in and become pests.
I've always wanted a vacuum sealer. It looks like it works great!

74 minutes on the phone to them and they still couldn`t solve it.
I have learned that IT people can be complete idiots. The ones I deal with at both jobs are completely useless. The healthcare job IT guy is a complete moron - long story short. He thought he could take the laptop that we have for our desk - because he learned all three of us have access to it. It wasn't until I told the unit manager that he was taking our laptop that we needed to be mobile in case of power outages, fire, no water in the building etc etc etc - that without that - no care is given to the 400+ clients we service in a day. She immediately stepped in - a file was opened with HR and he has since gotten severe consequences for that.

Hence - I have a very big dislike to IT people.
cooler weather is what we get in October, and the trees are starting to show their yellows and some gold, but lots of green still seen. Waiting to see those beautiful shades of orange and brown. Grass not dormant yet. Still green,
It looks and sounds like you had a fantastic time on your trip.
GS personnel should get combat pay, can only imagine what they have to deal with on a daily basis.
I couldn't do that job. People complain about the stupidest things. And the entitlement that people think about what they should be compensated with - make it even worse for everyone who have to take less now because of people like that.
Oh, guess what the neighbor does for a living. He owns a landscaping company. I know who not to hire now.
That is actually no surprising. I haven't had a working doorbell for 16 yrs now - and I'm married to a sparky (electrician).

Well, I should get going and find a few more things to do yet today. It's month end day today - so always lots of little things to tie up and papers to shuffle.

Have a great day everyone

Next year, a family trip is what we are planning, and with DH not able to do almost all rides, another place, with a big time change is where we’re thinking.
Woohoo! I vote for Hawaii :)
We will be on the 3rd one this year in November. The 10 day one to cool places on the older RCCL ship in May was ‘a bargain’ compared to the 4 night ones we booked on Freedom & Oasis class out of MCO. Sigh

my guess, other than covid travel still being booked inflating the prices, is that DCL priced out so many people they moved over to RCCL

I am looking at one of their new ships coming out next summer, to book for 12/24…Utopia. The Oasis class I favor, enough to keep us occupied.
Isn’t that something you risk happening on a water slide anyway?
Lol you’d think. Actually, who wears a loose bathing sort of any sort to a waterpark...or ever for that matter. Lycra & spandex is where it’s at, anything to help suck in my floppier bits :)
Absolutely.

GS in IoA helped me last trip. I had one more pre-HP old AAA P2P 7 day tix. showed it as I wanted to be sure it was still valid.

Turns out, no, it couldn’t be read since two system upgrades ago. I figured it was a lost cause. Nope, they went into archive system & found it.

Then told me they now assigned it to me via a number. They did give me it but, said, no worries if I lose it. Nope, turns out, they can & will find you in the system.

It was funny, they went back, waaaay back, to when I first bought an AP…down to the day. said anytime you engage with them and a record is initiated, it will be there If they dig just a bit.

shades of being sent to the principals office for minor offense as a kid and being told it was “on your permanent record”.

I can verify that WDW has the same system, as I’ve had issues with day tix linked to my account be used in lieu of my AP now & again
Our impression gunk is pink....lol....I think!!! Is it though??
probably comes in different colors. The one here is the color of Squidward from SpongeBob
You do get your share of wildlife there....still remember the bear waving at you......lol
They just started bow season here, the deer are running (on the streets) for their lives. Sad but, so many, they do need to be culled I guess.
How coincidental he is a landscaper!!! As you say, his responsibility now, he sounds a charmer!!!
Almost sounds as tho he was hiding behind the curtains, waiting to pounce until the trees were irretrievably removed.
with homemade dough. I will say - they all came out quite tasty.
Impressed, I usually use frozen bread dough. Hey, it’s handy and is passable.
That is actually no surprising. I haven't had a working doorbell for 16 yrs now - and I'm married to a sparky (electrician).
Hahaha my guy doesn’t have his papers, trained electrical & plumbing in service. I finally bought two that work off internet & re-chargeable battery.

thot he’d scoff, nope, happily installed them. Said the wiring was so old on front doorbell, he disconnected it jik even tho low voltage and tapped off Years ago. Neglected to share that lol. No idea where the transformer is, despite looking off & on for 30 years. thot for sure maybe in the attic or basement but, no???

I've always wanted a vacuum sealer. It looks like it works great!

Having so many days to use up will be lovely.

The IT issues you can come across are crazy, this should be so simple. Going to try and get someone from the UK today, the person we spoke to was Indian and his English was poor, sometimes you get someone who is fabulous and speaks clearly, but not this time. However, this is an issue a few folks have had according to their forums.

It`s so time consuming though, I know we have all the time in the world, but still annoying.

I know the hotels do record everything. We may have needed to change rooms a few years ago due to the thermostat being faulty, we mentioned something or other to someone on the desk and they could tell us every room we had been in since we first stayed, so yes, I absolutely believe everything is recorded, every request, every time someone complains I`m sure it`s all there.

Guest services are amazing what they can do and glad they could help you like that. They are always so keen to help so it is s shame when people don`t treat them the way they should. I`ve heard some real horror stories about guests from staff, especially concierge and check in staff who don`t work at the hotel anymore! Would turn your hair curly!!

The sun is shining again this morning after it had rained since around 5pm last night, I didn`t hear when I woke around 6ish, went back to sleep though till around 7....I am enjoying these longer sleeps!

Going to try and call our internet supplier again this morning, don`t hold out much hope with that.

I think we`re popping out this morning, might be later than usual by the time we get off the phone, but want to go to a farm store that`s opened up about half an hour away from us, it`s small but would like them to do well.

Salmon for dinner tonight, turkey sandwiches for lunch and yep, toast with preserves this morning, coming right up as I hear sleeping beauty get up. Going to be cooler than yesterday so might have a jacket on today.

Taco Tuesday. Usually I’d be drinking that tea from a bottled water dispenser, but decided back to routine needs a later in the week commuting day. Like the day before my four day weekend. Yay for a holiday Monday to make coming back from being lazy weeks, to be two weeks of a day shorter of week day routine.

And so, the day we get to enjoy a taco, as Taco Bell a good place to get them. Well, for not the best tacos, but one where the fries are back, so maybe we will go there. Little one is not fond of their food, but agree, perfect made, hot fries are good tasting. Eh, maybe not going to Taco Bell today, but I can see us going there sometime in the weekend time. There’s a local business burger place that we walk to pick up our order, that older one likes their street tacos. So just maybe, if we order out for dinner, tacos may be eaten today. Little one is happy their burgers are delicious, as we haven’t eaten burgers at other fast food burger places in years, since that local place opened.

Ah the start of October has given us a week of nice weather. Little bit cloudy sky seen as opened door to see what the outside temperature is. Ooh. 59 degrees. Yay, early weather news lady said those clouds go away soon, then glorious Fall sunshine with 80 the high later this afternoon. Woot. Shorts and sunglasses. Yay for my warm lunchtime walk I’ll have today.

So have a most terrific Taco Tuesday all. Good morning.

4, four yetis, waiting to smother you with love

keep getting teased I haven’t visited the local Ross store for over a month. beautiful day to get out, might as well take advantage of it.

enjoyed sitting on the front porch last few nights in the dark viewing the stars

Don’t know much about astronomy, for some reason it always seems as tho the night fall skies are perfect for viewing things. Full moon probably helped the cause. Jupiter looked so bright the other night, felt like I could reach out and grab it. Very cool

110%. one thing that I did find rather amusing was the increased usage of text messaging last trip from the hotels, both U & WDW. enter or leave that room and electronic door locks would trigger a general ‘helpful’ sort of text.

it’s turning into a real saga, good luck
Salmon for dinner tonight, turkey sandwiches for lunch and yep, toast with preserves this morning,
yum, i’m clueless as today’s menu. Inspiration needs to strike.

You do sound primed and ready for early retirement! Always good to have a plan.

Another slow workday. I don’t want to complain too much though.
We have had some beautiful weather this week. Highs in the low 80s and low humidity. It’s supposed to be much cooler this weekend though.

Thanks. I really don’t know what his problem is. It’s not like he can see our offending yard from his house. He has nearly 5 acres (we have about 1/2 acre) and his house is quite far from ours.
I just hope we haven’t displaced the rabbits. I like seeing them in the yard.

4, four yetis, waiting to smother you with love
Cute!

No tacos for us today. We had Mexican on Sunday.

Schumi - hope you get your email situation straightened out.

Lunch hour almost over. Time to get back to work.

lol....we always said our housekeeper hides behind a door waiting for us to leave, soon as we`re out the room is done!! Not a bad thing though, good service is always appreciated.

Yes, Jupiter is mighty impressive right now, looks like it was going to meet the moon the other night. Doubt we`ll see them tonight due to cloud! And you know I have porch envy......lol.......

Hope dinner is something lovely!!

Yes, a saga indeed!!! I never got an answer as to how I`ve been using that email for years, came with me through 3 home moves!! But, no it never existed apparently.

I wish I liked Mexican food, but no not for me.

Hopefully you can fill your day doing something more productive since you have time, better than being swamped I imagine. Makes the day go faster though if you`re busy.

Yep, finally sorted the email out, but not with the email I`ve had for years.

Hope you ladies all got the new email.....sent it off as soon as I got it, I think I sent an email to Ruth twice though.

I have a pile of emails to get through, I saved them before they disappeared too, I will catch up though. Never got any joy from our provider, so moved to another email provider and sent notifications to all my contacts.....still not finished.

I did laugh when after another 62 minutes on the phone he asked if I was happy with the outcome today and would I recommend them to others......

i-88htwZF-S.gif

Need to remember which businesses I need to change my email with too.

But, dinner was lovely, lightly baked salmon with garlic and rosemary parmentier potatoes and some roasted veg. Nice.

Tv tonight for us and finish off this contact update!!
