Something About Nothing............ #14

IMG_2521.gif

Ugh, after that day extra long weekend, back to that week day routine. Glad it’s not next year, when week day routine returns to office three days a week. Sigh. At least not on a Monday.

And so, Tuesday it is. Will be hearing the trash trucks soon. Make up day, so only two trucks. The glass and plastic cans get picked up by the same truck, as sorting happens when dumped. And since a make up day, no yard trash, as trash trucks have double collection areas today.

And so, it’s that day a Taco Bell meal is most appropriate. It is a Taco Tuesday after all.

Tea for me, and oddly, cold flash me, thought house was fine. DH said house way too cold feeling. As such, smelled and heard the heater turn on, and now our home is warmer due to heater on, and AC off. Guess it’s about time. Our Fall weather usually makes the much cooler feeling early evening through mid morning the next day. Yeah, jacket on in the early morning, forgotten in the afternoon time.

And the fact that it’s still not 50 degrees on a 61 degree high day. Cooler weather is here, as we get to the middle of October. But the sunshine is making it feel so much better. So jacket and shades for my lunchtime walk. Woot! Full sunny days today and the next two days. Woot again. Rainy, and even cooler weekend predicted, but with a 70 degree high Thursday, taking those warmer temp day

Hope all are having a nice day today.

Good Tuesday Morning Sans family :wave2:

Robo - Prayers for quick healing for the foot.
Thank you Charade. Will be happy when foot heals up.

lol...yes, thank goodness for hair straighteners, that dry straw like look in the morning is never good, wouldn`t be without them.
Yes. I would like to have hair that does not require much maintenance, but alas I was not that lucky.

Have a lovely day tomorrow with the family you have visiting! Always nice.....
Thank you Carole we had a very nice visit.

Oh one of my friends has opened a FB account, originally to do with her job as she is a lecturer in a University, I don`t think any of our friends have FB, not that I know of anyway. She is hilarious, sending us all txts every so often filled with news and stories she`s read and everything is "unbelievable" This is going to be torture till she bores of it!!!
Thats funny.

I finally signed up for FB. I just mostly for Universal information. Don’t look at it much. My Two sisters keep me up on the family postings.

2, Just the three of us. That pic has been edited to lighten it. the lighting was decidedly off in the CB chucky experience
That Chucky photo op room had some good places to take pictures, but the lighting in some of the areas was not conducive to getting clear pictures.

There’s times a pot full isn’t big enough for me.
I know. There are those days when caffeine is needed in large quantities. I can usually polish off my big HHN mug in the morning.

Hope you are getting around well with the boot
It is not fun. As you know when you’re in the boot it throws everything else out of kilter, back, hip etc. So hoping this go around will settle my foot down.

I am one of the weird people who don’t mind going to the dentist, but I’ve also never needed any serious dental work. Poor dh is in the process of getting 6 crowns.
Lucky you on no dental issues. I didn’t have much done until about 4 years ago.

Six crowns is a lot to have done. Hope your hubby does well with the dental work.

Making, as requested haggis bon bons as one of the pre appetisers, I don`t eat them but mostly everyone else does. Appetisers of scallops and shrimp in garlic butter or pate that Tom is making today, and a huge rib of beef for entree, need to cook 2 pieces of halibut as two don`t like beef, I`ll do that and several side dishes including au gratin potatoes. So a busy afternoon of cooking and prep, won`t take long to sort out wine, cocktails and soft drinks.
Sounds like a wonderful night with friends and delicious food.

We did not get the rain today I thought we would get. Today turned out to be a beautiful day. It is cool enough for me to open the windows in the house. Caspian is enjoying the fresh air.
Cute photo of Caspian looking out the window.

Dinner went well last night, everyone got dressed up which was lovely and it all went along nicely. Food turned out as it should be and everyone enjoyed everything on offer, they brought some lovely desserts and we all had a wonderful time with a lot of laughter.
Thats what it is all about. Good friends and laughter.

Lil sad ‘only’ going to 80 today…
Cute photo of you and your granddaughter. Looks like you had made a visit to one of my favorite places for a beverage. Starbucks. They have a nice one at CB.

My mother's 96th birthday is next week and she wants to go gambling for her BD! Gotta love her:) So, I will take her to a local casino that she likes. I feel that as long as she can do what she wants,
That is to cute. She sounds like a fun 96 year old.

Tom is much better, so heading for a day of shopping tomorrow, will have some lunch out as we`ll be there a while, but hope we can get some things we both like. Might look for some household things too, but it`ll be a nice day hopefully.

Glad to hear Tom is on the mend. Never fun to catch those bugs.

Hope Janet and family had a good time at HHN and had a safe flight home.

Up early this morning. Woke up with a headache. Over flossed one of my teeth in the back. I had a cap put on this tooth will be 2 years ago in December. Then had a root canal (my only one on this tooth) and it still gives me problems. I went back to the Orthodontist who did the root canal and he said I’am just bruising it when I chew on that side. What a bunch of hewy.

Sun is shining this morning. Our weather has cooled down here for a few days. It will warm back up for a couple of days then cool off again.

We had our grandson and family over night on Thursday and enjoyed our visit with them.

Sunday we went to little J’s birthday party and he had a blast playing with his cousins and he loved his Minion Tim bears.

We have an appt later this afternoon so not much else going on today. Think this will be a lazy day. Sometimes you just need one of those.

I might lay back down for another hour if I can fall back to sleep. It was dark when I woke up this morning at 6 am and decided to get up and take something for my headache.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone.

Hope the headache clears Robbie, they can make us really miserable at times and sleep is sometimes the answer. I`m with you, we love a lazy day or two bimbling around the house not doing much of anything, it`s good for you.

FB is not for me, I did have a look and was quite amazed at what folks reveal on there, I saw one woman show every picture of her home in a before and after picture run.....nothing like enticing burglars!! Never mind nosey folks. But, so far my friend has been amazed at who is FB friends with who.....lol.....she is educating us all and informing us of she has "found". Told her she has too much spare time.

Glad the little one`s party went well, parties were so wonderful at that age!! And hope you feel better later.

Shopping was ok. I managed to get a few things including a pair of ankle boots, they`re not pretty as such as they`re flat but I can wear them with jeans, leggings or with a dress and thick tights (panty hose)

But, so many stores have closed down!! It`s been a while since we visited this place and it`s quite sad to see it as the shell it has become. There`s still a good few stores there, but we left after about half an hour and went to one of the big towns as it is so darn warm today.....

Had lunch in a lovely Thai restaurant, they did a lunch special that was like a mini buffet where they brought us smaller portions of 6 dishes and four appetisers, it was beautiful and so busy and a lot of Thai people too which is always good to see. Not the prettiest place to look at, little bit of a hole in the wall, but my goodness, it was amazing. We both said we`d travel the distance to go there again, so friendly and welcoming.

So no need for dinner tonight for us.

Made an appointment for a quick cut and blow dry tomorrow morning, I have another four weeks till I get my vacation hair appointment, so a quick tidy up will be nice.

Tom`s making us a cuppa.....brought home two big cream cakes from a lovely little bakery......they`ll go lovely together!!

I blinked and it was Taco Tuesday again :o I have a little reading to catch up on.

My days at the homecare job are always jam packed busy and crazy - these ones were no different. I got home from work - threw the overnight bags into the truck and we were heading to the city to see the kids and celebrate Thanksgiving.

We had incredible weather - It was 85 on Sat/ Sunday and 80ish yesterday. It was the last hurrah of summer for us. WE enjoyed lots of outdoor time. The turkey was delicious - the left overs (turkey sammies) were even better!

We are hitting the road again Thursday. Dh's grandma passed away over the weekend. So we are heading out for her funeral and then will get to spend some time with my family and dh's brother and his family. WE knew it was coming. She lived a very full 93 years. She had a harder life than others - but always rose above what life threw at her. We are just glad she is now reunited with the few precious others who left before her.

Just thought I would pop in. I have a few things to sort through on my desk and get done in the 2 days I'm in the office this week.

Have a great day everyone!

I love the sound of your mum!! That`s my kinda gal......sounds like she has a lot of get up and go!!

Yep, laundry lovers unite!!! Yep, we all have our favourite things to watch.....I wish I did like football but I loathe it, especially British football, unless it`s the World Cup that`s the only time we watch it. Weirdly all my siblings love football, really love it, not sure what happened to me there! Tom isn`t a fan either, like me he`ll watch the world cup and that`s about it.

And so glad to hear Roger enjoyed the pork, it`s one of those recipes that is so simple, but tastes amazing! I`ll keep that secret! Yes, being happily retired is the best, we love our time is our own and we do everything together which is the best!!

It`s lovely to see you post on here, and you do always have something interesting to say, always good to see your posts!!

Yes, we all shared a cold a couple of weeks back, and he is back to normal now thanks.

Hope your day goes past quickly.

Weirdest October weather for years. Warm today, it could even be described as hot, but incredibly humid. Hung some washing out today, the sun dried most of it, but some felt damp in some parts, not a single breath out there. And no need for a jacket either, even early this morning, but we don`t usually get such humidity.

Tom is much better, so heading for a day of shopping tomorrow, will have some lunch out as we`ll be there a while, but hope we can get some things we both like. Might look for some household things too, but it`ll be a nice day hopefully.

Watching some Taggart on tv, but think it`ll be an early night for us, both of us are yawning our heads off and it`s just after 8!!

Cuppa tea I think.

Hi Carole:)

I was wondering if any of the holiday decorations and events will be going on while we are there??? I know you will be there at that time too and would know more about the events/decs. The Universal site doesn't list the dates of the parade, light show, etc, but I would imagine that at that time of year they will have something for the holidays?

I think you think of soccer as football? They are totally different to me and I don't quite understand or like soccer. But Football? I love it and wait all year for football season:) We had a lot of soccer games televised this year over here, but I never watched them. It seems like some soccer fans get really really into it (especially from some other countries) and it can get violent?

Glad to hear Tom is better, and that your warm temperatures are still there:) I envy that as I can't seem to get warm enough lately. I guess I have to get used to the fall/winter weather here in the frozen north:).

Thanks for any insight you can give me on what we might expect the first week of December.

Sorry to hear of your loss Pumpkin. Hopefully a nice celebration of her life, that generation saw a lot of hardship over their years and most came through it with aplomb.

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving, love Turkey!!

Hey Ruth.....yes what you call soccer is really football here. No one here calls our football soccer, but we do say American Football when talking of what you guys have. Once again, speaking the same language but in very different ways. I am bored by both UK and American football and equally....I`m not biased....lol......

Not sure about the violence. Many years back in the very early 1980`s there were some nasty incidents for sure, but over the years, few and far between from memory.

Tom is back to normal, very odd bug that seemed to last about 20 hours......lol......today was weird, my hands were cold and felt clammy, but it was humid as well as incredibly mild. It`s going to change by tomorrow evening though. I couldn`t imagine your type of cold!!

Hello everyone. Slow day today. Thankfully this is a short week. I’m taking Thursday off.

DH said house way too cold feeling. As such, smelled and heard the heater turn on, and now our home is warmer due to heater on, and AC off. Guess it’s about time.
We are in that fun time of year when we need heat in the morning and a/c in the afternoon. Right now I have the windows open hoping it will cool down some.

Six crowns is a lot to have done. Hope your hubby does well with the dental work.
Poor dh has horrible teeth. One of his temp crowns has already come off. He gets the permanent ones next Friday. I can’t wait to see how much this is going to cost.

Woke up with a headache.
Hope it is gone now.
are hitting the road again Thursday. Dh's grandma passed away over the weekend. So we are heading out for her funeral and then will get to spend some time with my family and dh's brother and his family.
So sorry for you family loss.

We have another football game tonight, but this one is an away game. This might be one of the toughest opponents of the season though.

Well, we`re going to be bright and sunny for about an hour or so, then heavy rain forecast for most of the day and much cooler than it has been recently, it was nice when it lasted.

Today we have some workmen coming to do some work at the bottom end of the garden , wondering if they`ll cancel because of the rain . I`m expecting a call soon saying they`ll come back another day. It`s not needing done urgently so whatever suits them best.

Not much going on today, a little cleaning and a little baking, there`s a community event tomorrow so will get some baking sorted for that and hand it in later today, might keep a few items for us of course.

Salmon for dinner tonight, will do some spicy cous cous and salad with it, despite it being cooler it`s still a lovely dinner, will add some coleslaw too. Lunch will be open roast beef sandwiches and toast for breakfast, the farm sent over some lemon curd and all mine!!! Tom`s more a blackcurrant jam person.

Time for some tea, first cup of the day!

Happy Wednesday hope it`s a good one.

Ah camel in the dark like me, but I’m seeing only city lights. But yay, he’s here to remind all, that get over this hump of a day Wednesday, then only a day away to have that most fabulous Friday feeling.

Ooh it was cool when I came in. 45 said my outdoor thermometer. Didn’t take a jacket though. Full day of sun, and 68 out to be when I get outta here.

Got up right before alarm went off. Heard the whistle of a freight train going through the station down the street from me. Loud and I was like yep, early is my day is me too. Also heard a very loud and not too high plane overhead, as almost awaken by it.

But quick enough commute and this is what I se after being here for a couple of hours:
IMG_2523.jpeg

Pretty sunrise.

And so, tea from bottled water, and quiet. Not many come as early as me, though quite a few do come in with me, though not to my building or floor. Nice guy held the door for me. Office to have a Fall themed share whatever food you want. I baked brownies, and brought a big bag of candy in. Will be nice to see what others bought later this afternoon. Hehe, maybe a later dinner, depending on how much I sample.

And so, a most Wonderful Wednesday to all, and a hello and good morning from an almost too cool feeling morning homie.

Ooh little one wants an early December trip. Sigh. Have to see if I really want to take another trip this year. Maybe will take a peak at prices.

IT Good morning everyone :wave2:

Sending pixie dust to you that you feel better real soon.

Putting personal business and photos of your home are not a good thing to do for sure.

I have it to keep up with information on the parks. I‘am not very versed in its overall use.

Up early this am. It was still dark. Sun is coming up now.

Headache lingered on and off yesterday. Don’t get those very often. Headache was bad yesterday Morning. Got up and took some Meds then back to bed for a couple of hours. Then just a lazy day. Sometimes we need those. Think the weather changing might be contributing some.

Going over to watch little J for a few hours this morning. I do enjoy my time with him. He received a number of new games for his birthday so I’am sure we will be playing some of those.

Need to get scooting out the door.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.

I do think lazy days do us the world of good, easier when we`re retired of course......lol.....I agree, I think the weather can affect our health, here if it`s humid we are all a little headachy as we`re not used to it.

I can see why FB would be handy for information to do with things like the parks and so on and for many other things.....I am loving how amused my friend is with it though, she sent a group of us a link to watch cute kittens doing funny things!!

Thank you, yes, he`s back to normal and I did have a nice visit to the salon this morning and hope you have a lovely time with the little guy today!!

The weather has changed for sure, cooler than ever today but cosy in the house.

Had a quick visit to the salon this morning, had a little trim and blow dry then straightened, always feels nice to get our hair done. Came home to find the workmen had arrived, rain wasn`t too bad at that point, so nice they`ll get done today, with the help of a few cuppas along the way.

Baking is in the oven, smells lovely, have sorted out what we`ll hand in and what we`ll keep for us. There are several of us that bake for events so they are never stuck for donations.

Rain is getting heavier, so think the men will be finished soon, will pop the kettle on in case they fancy another before they leave.

Quick hump day stop in!

The forecast here is for rain later today - I guess what leaves are left on the trees will be coming down after that :sad1: Oh well - it's all part of the change of seasons here. It just signals that the nasty white swear word could fall anytime now

I was lucky enough to get squeezed in to get my nails done before heading out of town. I had an appointment for Friday evening, they were great and moved it to yesterday. Then I have a hair appointment next Friday - and boy do I need it! I've pushed it off allll summer. It's wayyyyy too long. I will need a good 3 - 4 inches taken off - and a good color refresh again! I am very lucky that my hair and nails grow extremely fast! It's both a blessing and a curse!

It looks like dd and gd are going to meet us and drive with us. They are leaving earlier than us - but we will help her travel with gd. Gd is the first and only Great Great Grandchild so far in Grandma's linage! We are lucky we got one picture last summer with Grandma with dh, dd and gd with Grandma! It's actually on our electronic photo frame where we download all our favorite photos.

I think I've almost got my email and desk cleared off to go out of town again for a few days! For a position that people think doesn't do alot - my desk and email sure get clogged up with little tasks to complete when I'm not here to keep on top of them.

Well, off to shuffle a few more papers!

Have a great day everyone!

Sounds good! Thank Carole:) I guess I'm a little anxious to know all this stuff but will have to learn patience, LOL!
Glad to hear Tom is back to normal.
I can't wait to see the parade and the lights on the castle and all the fun shops. I think I might need more days than 5:) days.
But 5 is all that Robin can get off work, but I would like to schedule a longer trip next time.
I think I was reading about the violence in soccer in other countries where they take it very seriously. But of course, you know you can't believe everything you read:)
Again, thanks for listing all the Christmas things to do and see:)

Patience is not the easiest thing to learn!!! Once the website is updated we`ll know more, but they`ll have many similar things every year and so many little things like The Who`s wandering Seuss area, they are fabulous, don`t worry will make sure you don`t miss anything.

Yes, trying to fit everything into one trip is never easy at times. We really enjoy everything, and you`ll be able to do most of it as I`m sure you have enough time. ☺️

Later dinner for us tonight, couple of friends dropped in for a cuppa and chatted for longer than they planned, and enjoyed some baking, I was glad I had kept some for us. Now sitting watching some tv with a glass of tonic water.

Dentist tomorrow morning, shouldn`t be as bad as the last appointment.

Movie time......

I missed your post yesterday!!

3-4 inches, you`ll feel a massive difference with that chopped off! Always feels so good to get it done.

Hope you have a safe journey pumpkin and hope the service goes as well as can be expected, always a sad occasion to contemplate.

Yes, the trees here are changing rapidly too, we had a few very windy days which helped them along, but really noticed yesterday just how many leaves are on the ground now.

Very still and dull night, going to be an average day here today, nothing special but at least it`s not windy anymore, might even get a glimpse of sunshine somewhere.

Out shopping this morning after we drop the baking off into the church hall, then head off for the dental appointment, just getting the temporary tooth for when I get the implant drilled into the bone later this month. Not as bothered about that appointment as I was about the impressions!

Doing home made beefburgers tonight, going to do home made chunky chips and some coleslaw with salad to go with them, home made butternut and sweet potato soup for lunch and plain old toast for breakfast. Quite hungry this morning, very rarely wake up like that, but still too early to eat for me so tea will stave off the pangs for now!

Welcome back home keisha.....glad it was such a lovely trip!!!

Happy Thursday!

Thirsty Thursday is here. And another nice Fall day, with a cooler feeling morning, and glorious sunshine with 80 the high this later afternoon.

Glad to hear Keisha had a fun quick trip, and Pumpkin having a haircut to have much shorter hair, and hope Robo’s headache is gone today.

Ah yes, almost done the week. Yay! Sweet great nephew gets his baptism this weekend. Celebrating, even in some rainy weather we are to be getting this weekend. Long road trip for that. Then a birthday song phone call to a sibling, on that week day routine start next week. Family enjoyment coming soon.

But today, already had that tea kettle quite full. Very very dark out. Clear sky, as tossed some trash out in 45 degrees. Quick out and back in. Hehe, still have shorts on in our now warm house.

Hope all have a most Terrific Thirsty Thursday. Good to enjoy a drink or more today. Like tea. Time for tea mug to be refilled. Good morning all.
