Something About Nothing............ #14

Finally getting to do a stop in!

Busy couple of days here...but that's a good thing ;) The cooler weather has returned, and with us being spoiled by above normal temps, I'm in whimpy mode again lol.

Concert and visit to the city was great! We had a time. Went for an awesome dinner before the concert at a steak house...then made our way to the concert. He put on an amazing show.

The play on Friday that our niece was in was REALLY good. I was actually quite shocked at how great it was. She is very happy to have been part of the production of such a a bigger production. The experience she got from doing that....priceless.

I worked my healthcare job the last 2 days. Monday was a good day....yesterday...OH MY!!!! But I survived! Had a few upset senior clients about time changes to their appointments....and explaining that I can't help that people call in sick for work...so I have to change your appointment. But needless to say, yesterday was an interesting day lol

Back to my regular job today. I am almost all caught up now. It really doesn't take me long to get caught up.

Well, I should get going now...have a great evening everyone!

Glad you had such a lovely weekend, a nice meal and a show your niece was so wonderful in, must have been so good to see. Good for her, hope it`s something she pursues in the future.

Good evening. Slow day at work today, but I really couldn't concentrate on school work with all of the hammering going on next door.

Dh was going to go straight from work to theater rehearsal tonight, so I was prepared for a night home alone. I had changed into yoga pants and a t-shirt, and pulled my hair up into a messy bun when dh texted to tell me that his screenplay that he submitted to BEA (Broadcast Education Association) had won best in category. He wanted to meet for dinner to celebrate. He suggested Red Lobster. He wasn't there when I got there. I took out my phone to text him and had a text that there was a 30 minute wait, so he went to the Mexican restaurant at the mall. Fortunately the mall is next to Red Lobster. Now I am back home.

I thought there should be something in the email, but I couldn't find anything. I called and they were able to take care of everything for me.

Very nice!

Dh had family in OH and lived in Cincinnati for a year or so. I've been there a couple of times, but never paid attention to the cars.

Another gorgeous picture.

Glad you had fun at the concert. Has your niece caught the acting bug? B wants to do more theater, but just hasn't had the time.

I'm off to figure out what to do for the rest of the evening. I am not going to do only schoolwork today.

Thank you, I do love our beach.

And good news for your husband!! Congratulations to him.

That’s sounds as tho quite the honor for him, congrats!

That sounds like my normal at-home attire. Although usually a hoodie is in there somewhere too.

Pumpkin /sounds like a great weekend getaway. Is your niece interested in acting as a career?

lol...my sister is like that, wears a fleecy at home, zipped right up....she`s even colder than me.

Nice to read your husband won Best in catagory charade!

It is always nice when someone gets the recognition they deserve........

Thursday again.......physio and hair appointment today, we were supposed to be meeting some of the gang for lunch, but it`ll be too tight between appointments, and I know those lunches can rumble on. So, will give it a pass.

Going to make meatballs ala Ikea style tonight, served with fries, ligonberry sauce and make my version of their cream sauce which is just my pepper sauce but slightly creamier than usual. Always works well, Tom will have peas which I loathe.......I`ll make some mushrooms or cauliflower for me.

Some more bacon for breakfast this morning, will have it on a slice of toast with some avocado and tomato. No idea what lunch will be, but it`ll be quick.

Time for tea.......

Have a wonderful Thursday :flower3:

Congratulations to your DH, Charade.

Ah a Thirsty Thursday is here. Back into the city, and still very dark. Didn’t take a jacket, was a bit cool, but will be around 60 degrees when I do that way too much traffic, late afternoon commute. And one with sone rain too, so said the early weather news. Eh, got new windshield wipers not that long ago, so should be okay.

Good morning all.

Still nice & warm here Yet the sky is getting ready to open up and drench us. Just as well, we need the rain, so rare in the winter for us.

I’ve run out of laundry baskets:blush:, all full of clean clothes to put away. Let some of them sit so long, may be wrinkled to point I need to rewash them. God forbid I’d pull out my iron for athletic wear. at least enough leftovers I don’t have to cook dinner tonight.
Tom will have peas which I loathe
I grew up with such an aversion to them, having only eaten canned variety. discovered the frozen variety as an adult and ability to just thaw out some in water to add to whatever. now, family never knows where they may just pop up lol

i’m sick of hearing about the alien/China/Russia invasion , as well as the aftermath of the train derailment/chemical leak. People there have a new complaint to add to the mix…they are getting invaded by Tik-Tok influencers. :bitelip: Anything to make a buck or get subscribers.

can’t help but marvel that, just a week or so later, there are already multiple lawsuits filed. Assume the firms each hope to be first on the match to consolidate things into a massive class action one. popcorn::

I surely have sympathy for those living in the area & hope they do receive monitoring for potential health issues & monetary damages.:wizard: admittedly, quite happy to not live down-river on the Ohio at this point. If the contaminants don’t dilute before they hit the Mississippi, may see a spike in associated farm food prices.

Hi Pumpkin:

I was wondering if you work in Home Health Care by any chance??? I've been trying to figure it out, and what you said about rescheduling some senior appointments made me think so.
I worked in Home Care and Hospice and loved it as an RN case manager. It was a lot of fun, interesting, and never dull. It was my favorite job as an RN.
Sounds like your dinner and concert was great!

lol....I think it was tinned peas my mum used to give us that gave me my aversion to them.....I forgot you could get such things in tins!!! We do always have frozen peas and a bag of frozen sweetcorn in the freezer, but I never eat them. But, yes, they are very versatile for many dishes.

Glad you have some nice weather....we had rain for a little time this morning and we commented we needed it, we`ve hardly had a drop for ages. Getting cooler again though here.

I`m sure the greenies will descend soon enough to monitor the damage there.

Enjoyed our Swedish style meatballs......still really just meatballs, but they were lovely....pepper sauce was just peppery enough and made carrots, cauliflower and mushrooms....Yes, Tom had his peas as well.

Think we`re going to watch our very first episode of South Park......they are roasting Harry and Meghan, looks very accurate and funny too!!! Yep, I have never seen an episode of that or the other one folks rave about.....not my kind of humour usually, but this....yep.

Having a pot of tea right now, made some coconut crumble biscuits and they are lovely, only having one is not easy, I want two!

It's Thirsty Thursday....and my tea cup seems to get emptying quite fast!!! Even though I got an extra large drink tea today, I may have to brew another one yet this morning.

Quiet night last night. I was too tired to head to the gym (although I probably should have went) but I did help youngest ds write is resignation letter for his current job. He will be going to work at dh's company - starting as an refrigeration tech/electrical apprentice. It is time for him to move out of the job he has now. He can't live on 15 hrs of work/week. But the experience he gained as a first job is great, but it's time for him to move on.

For those asking about our niece getting the acting bug...I think she enjoys it. This is her third one she has been in...and this one was quite a big production - they even had a little orchestra and pit! I can see her doing more of this as she gets older for sure!

I went up to Universal for Mardi Gras and Kennedy Space Center for a Quick trip. I took a lot of photos. I’am going to do a trip report on it, but I need to finish my HHN trip report first. I have truly come to understand the labor of love that doing trip reports involve. I love sharing the fun and photos.
KSC is the reason we will return to Florida vs California with our kids for a Disney/universal trip. The boys are stoked to see it - especially our youngest.
I’am married to my best friend and the sweetest man I know. He is truly a gem. I’am thankful for this very special man in my life. He is the love of my life.
Happy Anniversary!
it’s going to be snake eyes/GI Joe origin story :rotfl:.
Happy Anniversary!!! That sounds like something my dh would pick :rotfl: We are definitely not a typical longtime married couple....but we love each other like no other, and can read each other's minds. We like to be joined at the hp at times....and other times....we like to do things separately as well.
Why yes, a Spring feeling day for us. Warmest day this year so far. 66 degrees the high.
Enjoy those beautiful days!!!!

Enjoy those temps!!!! It warmed up here, but I still require a coat. I needed mitts in the car to drive this am. Everything was too cold to touch. My fingers can't do cold AT ALL. They get stiff and very achy...and still stay cold for the rest of the day.

I am :teeth: I am the scheduling admin for home care in our city! So far, I am enjoying the position!!! We all know healthcare right now is a dumpster fire - but I knew that going in. This department and the people in it though so far seem great. I have been supported during my orientation, and even yesterday our area manager asked me again, how I felt everything was going. 95% of the clients I talk to about their appointments have no problems - there are just the few who don't like having their appointment moved. But if they want homecare to come in and help, then they need to work around the schedule I can provide some days :rolleyes1 But so far, I really do like it!

Well, I should find more papers to shuffle.

Have a great day everyone!

Was 75 for us today but the rain will hit us tonight and linger into tomorrow.

We put the ac on for a few hours but won’t be having good weather tomorrow

It’s a hit or miss for our temps in February each year

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I can feel that through the screen!!!! It was definitely NOT that here. It's cool and very windy today .

Congratulations to your DH, Charade.

That's amazing!!!! What an accomplishment!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. He is very happy and excited about this. He will have an award presented to him at the national convention in April.

Another fairly quiet day today. I did have one bright spot though. I discovered that Chick-fil-A is building a new restaurant a couple of miles from my office.

I just discovered that Universal made a mistake on my updated reservation. They booked me a travel agent rate which is less than the current AP rate. I just got off the phone with customer service and had that corrected. Too bad I can't keep the travel agent rate. It was less than $100 per night.

Ack, Charade. I guess keep checking. Rates sometimes do change. But wow, for that travel agent rate. So far, my September trip rate at RPR that I see now, is no where as low a rate I booked it at almost a year before. But I keep hoping.

Leaned my lesson last year, as could not get AP rate for my whole time, and ended up at SF, with mostly a save more rate, as by the time I booked in August last year, and was successful in getting RPR at a AP rate the year before, this past year, the express three hotels were crazy rates, and none had any AP rates. So after that error, I booked in November last year, snagged that low rate as a save more, and have only seen it increase as soon as a week later, after I booked. I guess gone are the times when waiting is not always the right thing to do. At least airfare has not gone up, though is higher than I paid last year. At least I used up my flight credits to reduce the cost. For that, I keep checking, as well as for my rental. That, I got at the lowest price so far rate awhile ago. But I do expect to see the rental lower as we get closer. At least that is what I am hoping. My end of January rental rate got the lowest price 5 days before the day we left.

Rainy trip home, but was warm, 57 degrees on the ride home. And nasty traffic to boot.

Little one made pot stickers and made some fried rice. Yum, was nice to have a kid cook my dinner. Both my kids cook well. Skill started being taught when they were young.

Bedtime for me. But at least, tomorrow is a Friday. Then alarm will be turned off, as yay, holiday Monday bonus 3 day weekend. Woot!

How was the Elk??

It`s still early in the year, once your weather changes, you`ll be enjoying fabulous temps the rest of the year.

Yep, woke up this morning with the wind howling outside, think it`s higher than they say it is, trees are billowing like crazy out there. Won`t be wandering this morning.

Spoke to my Goddaughter up in Manchester last night, she completes her second Law Degree this year.....it`s been a haul for her especially having baby Arabella in between. It`s nice she`s following in her mother`s footsteps, she has been working all this time for someone else, but like her mum plans to start her own firm up. We`re all so proud of her.

Not much going on today for us, so, plan a lazy breakfast, do some housework and laundry, have some lunch then if this howling gale dies down we might go out a walk. We need bacon, but I`m in the village in the morning for my hair appointment so we`ll pick up bacon then from our butcher.

Made a Madras chicken curry last night, spicy, fruity and then more spice! Having that tonight with some coconut rice I`ll make today, one of the few dishes I`ll eat rice with, but coconut makes it palatable.

Pot of tea time, it`ll be a while before sleeping beauty wakes up, might have a slice of toast to keep me going till breakfast, I`m starving this morning.

Happy Friday 😁

Ah yes, woke up to hearing rain, got ready for the day, still raining. And just heard it raining sgain. But hey, before the temps drop significantly today, it’s close to 60 degrees this early Friday morning. Glad to not have to commute today. Yep, rainy morning, then the winds will pick up, as it blows that rainy weather away from us. And to remind we are still in Winter, 25 degrees in the overnight. Yes, you read that right. 59 this morning, 26 or 25 this same time tomorrow. Sigh. Well at least I think all, including some flowers that have already bloomed, have enjoyed that taste of later Spring weather we have had these last couple of days. Thankfully, that much cooler Saturday’s temps are not hanging around. Our 10 day forecast says 50’s high temps most of this coming week with, what? Ack, a pair of 30’s high temps for next weekend. But still not complaining. It’s not the Spring yet, and that 10 day forecast shows no snow chances, even with mostly cloudy days. Woot! Though if the 16 degree overnight next Friday’s overnight to Saturday is right, a little brr from me. Though happily if it’s that cool weekend, fine. As I tend to be not out the door in those very early hours. Yep, unlike this morning.

And so, with my shorter, and yay, even shorter week day routine today, 59 minutes earlier, have some bill paying to do before the sun sets.

Fabulous Friday homies. Woot! Get that Friday feeling happiness, as for me and other homies, a holiday wonderful weekend is loaded and ready. You know:

 !

Good morning. It's another rainy day here, but should clear up by early afternoon. It feels weird not having any school work that I must complete this week. I just sent an email to my medical coding professor about working ahead in the class. We have to use coding software that we either had to purchase outright (about $70-$80) or use a free 30 day trial. My trial period is over on March 1, but the semester isn't over until March 10. I don't want to pay for something I will never use again. The problem is that if you turn in assignments too early and then don't turn in anything the actual weeks they are due you run the risk of getting dropped from the class due to non participation. Yeah, it's stupid. I have 2 coding assignments left and a stupid paper to write. I also need to start work on my final photoshop project.

Ack, Charade. I guess keep checking. Rates sometimes do change. But wow, for that travel agent rate. So far, my September trip rate at RPR that I see now, is no where as low a rate I booked it at almost a year before. But I keep hoping.
The rate I booked isn't bad ($113), but I would have loved the travel agent rate ($95.60). Too bad I can't become a licensed travel agent before September.

That is a shame they didn`t let you keep the rate.
I suppose I could have argued that it was their mistake and they should honor the rate, but I didn't want to be that customer. I'll keep checking the rates. I doubt it will go down, but then again, who knows.

Spoke to my Goddaughter up in Manchester last night, she completes her second Law Degree this year.
Wow, that's impressive especially after having a baby. Congratulations to her.

What to do today.........I think I will start searching images for my photoshop project.

I like the way Lynne’s cat thinks. decided i wasn’t hungry for real food for dinner, munched on chips instead…will call it adulting.

was patting myself on back for buying airfare for May trip, then spirit changed our arrival time into FLL. no huge issue, coming in a day prior to sailing.

Haven’t settled on flights for July trip. SWA came out of gate high for it and what dates I was considering for September. have only been using SWA sporadically post covid. Booking mostly allegiant & spirit…hard to beat fares that are 2/3rds the price including luggage/seats. It’s that waiting game for prices to drop that takes a bit of a strong stomach lol.

the mr keeps joking we can always drive. ha, I’d haul my car to VA and take the auto train in that scenario. Least wouldn’t have to pay for a rental.

as long as the deluxe resorts offer the same level of complimentary EP (& don’t jack up the AP prices or institute a reservation system that they’ve been alluding to in the surveys) they won’t have issues filling the rooms @ $400…especially during HHN. Especially, since so many current guests appear to be WDW converts, accustomed to paying those rates for deluxe w/o an EP tossed into the mix.

I hear ya Keisha, won’t drive either. Did it once, since then fly. Never took that auto train. Not sure I could be on a train overnight. Yep, we have been known to snack for a meal. Little one wants to go to NYC, so that will be my trips this Spring. We used to stay over a night it two, but the ride is short enough from my City, that we are just going for a couple of day trips instead. Now that train ride is one I don’t mind.

It's that Friday feeling :cheer2: and a long weekend for me as well!!!! I've been looking forward to the weekend! It is truly my first weekend since summer that I don't have anything to do besides some cleaning/tidying and a grocery run. I will be enjoying the WHOLE weekend!!!! I can roll over and sleep in if I want, then get up and have lazy weekend coffee then decide what I am going to do. I want to get some quilting done this weekend and maybe hit the gym for some extra steps! But I am going to enjoy this weekend!

It took me a little bit to get out of bed this am. I even went to bed early last night...and I still could have slept more. But I, rolled out of bed, hit the shower, minimal makeup and natural curls and out the door.

Weather seems to be above average. Still cool/chilly enough to need that light coat, but I'll take it. The sun is currently shinning, and I'm trying to soak up as much vitamin D as I can!

I just discovered that Universal made a mistake on my updated reservation. They booked me a travel agent rate which is less than the current AP rate. I just got off the phone with customer service and had that corrected. Too bad I can't keep the travel agent rate. It was less than $100 per night.
That rate would have been amazing!!!! But the rate you got is also a pretty good rate as well ;)
We need bacon, but I`m in the village in the morning for my hair appointment so we`ll pick up bacon then from our butcher.
I hope your appointment went well! I have a haircut this week! I am looking forward to it!
Fabulous Friday homies. Woot! Get that Friday feeling happiness, as for me and other homies, a holiday wonderful weekend is loaded and ready. You know:
I will look like your Cat meme once 4:00 rolls around each day over the weekend! Jammies, snack, and remote in my hand.
Especially, since so many current guests appear to be WDW converts, accustomed to paying those rates for deluxe w/o an EP tossed into the mix.
I think you are right. It is a great deal - if you can afford it!

Well, I should shuffle some of these papers. I wanted to do a quick pop in!

Have a great day everyone!

She is a superstar, it took her a year or two longer with one thing and another but she has done herself and her family proud.

Oh that`s not a bad difference in price at all, I thought you meant a lot more, $113 seems like a real bargain in itself!

Like the way you think Janet!! I adore crisps (potato chips)....they are my munchie downfall!!!

She is very clever. She got her first law degree when she was 23, then several years working for a specific Department within the French Government to do the years she had to work, then came back to do her PhD while she worked for a law firm. She did take some time off to have Arabella, but hopes to start her own firm next year sometime with someone her and Hugo have known since their University days. I find him rather odd, but I think he`s one of these people that are at genius level but can`t boil a kettle. I had an uncle like that, prolific writer of many genre`s including Astronomy, Kyle would have loved to have known him.....but ask him to iron a shirt and he wouldn`t have a clue......lol......

Oh you did get that survey too!! If they did that, I`d be done with Universal as a vacation spot.....not a single interest in making reservations like that......I might get to see some more States then.....so far only NY and Florida.

That rate would have been amazing!!!! But the rate you got is also a pretty good rate as well ;)

I hope your appointment went well! I have a haircut this week! I am looking forward to it!

I will look like your Cat meme once 4:00 rolls around each day over the weekend! Jammies, snack, and remote in my hand.

I think you are right. It is a great deal - if you can afford it!

Well, I should shuffle some of these papers. I wanted to do a quick pop in!

Have a great day everyone!

Thanks pumpkin, appointment went well. I ached like a doozie today, but that`s a good sign I think lol.......yes, looking forward to salon time tomorrow......hope you have a great weekend.

Been one of those busy days today but didn`t get much done. I love my friends to bits......but they are such a bad influence at times!!! We all went for afternoon tea today at one of the hotels in the biggest town, it was lovely I have to say but I kept thinking of the curry I had made!!! We`re not overly hungry now, but might manage a snack later, popped the curry in the freezer for another time.

Sandwiches and cakes were beautiful, I asked for all white as I can`t eat seeds or brown bread and they did a good job, there were smoked salmon, shrimp, pesto or coronation chicken as well as roast beef or ham to choose from, we have no vegetarians in our group and thankfully no cucumber sandwiches.....always feel ripped off if somewhere offers those.

Trying to pin these women and others down for a book group meet.....I`ve decided to just pick a date that suits me and they can like it or lump it......:p

Wind has died down but it was nice this afternoon in the hotel as it overlooks the sea, very wild and woolly out there for a time.

No plans tonight, might find something to watch later, hair in the morning then get some shopping from the village, just bits and bobs, we have a lovely little greengrocer but they sell out of produce fast, so will send Tom down while I`m in the salon.

Snack time........and more tea!!

The rain has stopped, but it is crazy windy out right now. I got a little bit of photoshop done. It took me awhile to figure out how to do what I wanted to do. I am very thankful for YouTube tutorials. I have something I need dh's help with, but he is napping.

was patting myself on back for buying airfare for May trip, then spirit changed our arrival time into FLL. no huge issue, coming in a day prior to sailing.

I have a $125 voucher from American Air that I need to redeem before April 30. I keep watching and hoping the rates will go down some before then. Sadly, they are the only airline that flies out of my city.

Sounds like a great plan. This is how I wanted to spend my weekend, but now I have decided to work ahead in my class. The professor said it won't sound against me to turn in assignments early.

We have plans to go see the new Ant Man movie tonight. I should probably wake dh up soon.
