Something About Nothing............ #14

Lazy Saturday. I went to Hobby Lobby to pock up a framed picture and drop 2 others off for framing. I will probably do some more stitching today while dh watches football. I will watch my school’s team play tonight.
When B and I got back to our home airport we saw some cheerleaders who were heading to the game in Miami. Our team is playing the team from the first university where dh worked.

Thanks. It was fun but got to be a little challenging to find a different light each night.

What is the garage sale? Did I miss something?

I’m starting to wish I had waited to come home until after this football game was over.

Yes, I know what you mean, I didn`t mean you to start doing it again, I just meant they were nice.

Curry was exceptional, even if I say so myself!

Watching As Good as it Gets with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt, I forgot how good it was, funny, sad, emotional, it has it all.

Might be a late one tonight as we were up so late this morning, so might put on a horror later, it`s that time of year!

Time for another glass of wine.......

Hey all. Been busy this whole cooking thing Hmmph. Did make an apple pie yesterday In deference to fall. Boo hiss

Today canned some quarts of pickles

Lousy weather, heavy rain & winds from storm ? had us taking down the outdoor decorations we put up yesterday

signed up for local town’s 5k tomorrow. Family not letting me ditch it. There is an abbreviated 1 miler, worst case. Will let my foot/leg call
That shot.

Rain, rain, go away

My daughter and I will be a Universal 11/27 to 12/1 - a 5 day girl trip:) It will be so nice to finally meet Tom and Carole.
Darn it, just missing u. Will be on cruise 27th for 4 days, then we’d

think we will be taking the boat out for one last fishing trip before we shrink wrap and pack it away for the winter.
That is a fascinating process

Thot of u. My boys handed me flares yesterday from boat they sold. First thot was WTH am I going to do with those. Next instinct to get them out of house. Insisted into outdoor shed they go

Haven’t seen it before, so hope we staked out a good spot.
Oh, this current one is so dull. A filler to replace last one that was glorified commercial. Hope they get it right next one they are working upon

Keisha, agree with ya. Kinda a crappy show as compared to the globe one we loved from the past. Hope whatever replaces it is so much better.

Fun day, scored at the garage sale, then spent a few hours at SW, then recharged, and played mini golf at the Fantasia course. A round about way to get to a burger place we like, then quick shot back to hotel. Showered and chilling, earlier bedtime, as a meal with C&D tomorrow, and more park fun.

Picture from our safari ride the other day:

Hello kitty, was nice to see ya.

Love, love love apple pie! Heck any kind of pie.....one of the reasons I love autumn/winter so much, you don`t feel guilty going into pie season!!

Oh that`s annoying having to take down the decorations, it takes a lot of work to put them all up! Hope your weather improves for today.....good luck with the 5K!!!! Although that is a good option of doing a mile, yes let your leg and foot be the decider, they`ll tell you if you can do it or not......fingers crossed!!! Have fun with it though!

Up early as Kyle arrived as the first to use our driveway, but not as many cars as we thought in the end as many ended up car sharing so we only have 5 cars including Kyle`s. Wished them all the success in whatever race they are running today. They are a lovely group of people from his running club.

Chicken thighs skinned and boned and in the slow cooker with a load of nice veg, honey, garlic, black pepper, little mustard, maple bacon seasoning and some gorgeous chicken stock I made a few weeks ago with a little thyme. Once it`s nearly ready will add some dumplings I`m going to make up, or doughballs as we call them in Scotland. Tom isn`t really a fan of them, Kyle is joining us for dinner tonight and I know he doesn`t like them....so , oops......just me then 😉

I have a blackberry and apple crumble to bring out of the freezer, one the farm sent down made with our apples, will make some custard up too and that`ll be Sunday dinner sorted.

Had toast with marmalade for breakfast, lunch will be open roast beef sandwiches with some lovely dijon mustard.

Beautiful day, but very windy, shame for the folks running, but at least the rain has stopped, tonight we have almost 50mph winds forecast, but by the morning it should be back to 20mph, still breezy but not too bad.

Another lazy day ahead for me and the mister, will watch the Japanese GP, it was on 6am our time, but we didn`t watch it, will keep it for this afternoon and avoid news medias till then.

More tea I think......🫖

It’s raining, it’s pouring. Have an hour for it to blow thru. I’m no where, no how dedicated enough to voluntarily do a timed jaunt in the rain

We got unexpectedly walloped by the storm’s outer bands of rain & wind. Either it’s a monster or moving slowly

20 degrees lower than forecasted 75. I had to go dig in closet for a pair of fluffy slippers last night lol

Fun day, scored at the garage sale, then spent a few hours at SW, then recharged, and played mini golf at the Fantasia course.
The u one? Disney sent invite for presale invite theirs. They are doing VR lines for general admission. Sorry to have missed both. Although pickings has been slim in the theme park outlet sites for nearly a year

I`m going to make up, or doughballs as we call them in Scotland. Tom isn`t really a fan of them, Kyle is joining us for dinner tonight and I know he doesn`t like them....so , oops......just me then 😉

For some reason I wanted to try as a kid.
Those biscuit-y things on top of whatever looked good to me

parents called them dough balls too, in a not-too flattering tone lol. Never tasted till I was an adult at an Amish place. Nope, not for me. Bucket list item check tho

I do make a chicken & dumpling soup, copycat of Cracker Barrel, that GD begs for…I still don’t see the allure TBH.

Wish I had planned for something more fall like than the steaks I’ll be grilling later

lol.....I used to think doughballs were fancy when I was a child!! I adore biscuits in the US within a meal, biscuits to us are something you have with a cup of tea, usually chocolate, but I love the US style of biscuit, I guess more like a scone to us. My doughballs are well seasoned and I add chives and rosemary depending on the dish, always loads of black pepper.

Yes, we use doughball as an insult to idiots lol....I use it a lot! I think we might want to go back to Cracker Barrel at some point, we did enjoy it, but went to one away from tourist areas, think it was in Sanford.

Hope the rain ceases soon and you get to do the event with no issues....and enjoy those steaks, but good luck for the 5K!!!!

I`m happy to say Kyle did his fastest time this year for his 5K, then he joined in with one of his group and although he only got the medal and shirt for 5K, he ended up running almost 15K with his friends, so he`s extremely happy....so proud of him!!

But, several of them are meeting for a meal this afternoon, he asked if we minded him missing dinner, of course not, just glad he`s having fun after the race. Slow cooker chicken will now last two days.

Been one of those lovely, lazy relaxing days...Tom brought me a gin and lemonade 10 minutes ago....rather nice, wondered what he was doing through in the kitchen!!! Wind has died down, but will come back with a vengeance tonight.

Love Sundays like this!

Keisha, at home they got the rain all day yesterday and today from that storm. Yes, garage sale in the USO Studios, of mostly HP stuff, with other mixed in, though appreciated 60 percent off everything, including those lounge fly backpacks. Came out to 30 to 40 dollars depending on what you chose. Little one’s Loki one sold out yesterday. Sake started yesterday, and finishes tomorrow. Said today was still 60 off. Think not the same as they do the same in the actual garage.

Curious minds want to know how keisha got on today! Hope that rain went off and the day went well!!

We have very, very high winds right now, rain came on, but doesn`t seem to be hanging around, should be gone by morning and winds will be a much better 20mph. Least it`s not cold.

Crock pot chicken thighs were indeed lovely, very tender and the addition of the honey made a difference. Then an hour later we had a beautiful crumble, made some custard to go with it and enjoyed it with some tea. Now, thinking in about an hour we`ll be heading to bed, but it`s been a lovely Sunday.

Good Sunday evening everyone. :wave2:

Glad you said folks, not kids hehe. Yes, we still have ample here the mr is snacking upon
The CM’s were really giving out generous scoops of candy. It was nice to see young and old alike enjoying their candy haul.

We were in Epcot the first day they had meet & greet/pic with Figment. The line was 5 hours long at the get-go. We skipped it. Figure demand may die down by end of Nov.
I think Disney needs to plant a number of the same of the most popular characters in the parks to cut down on wait times.

It’s an amazing one. I really want to see the decor more than the cookies.
The decor reminds me of a creepy haunted library. I love it.

When do you head home Robbie? I`m forgetful of when folks come and go this month. And thank you, yes doing much better thanks to getting meds into me very quickly.
We traveled home yesterday.

Baskets of clean laundry here as far as the eye can see. Going to finish that cuppa, put on the compression stocking and have at it. Swelling much improved, no hot spots either. TBH a bit antsy as I wanted to keep up the walking pace. Hoping by the weekend it will be back in shape
Glad to hear you leg is doing better Janet.

Know you are a u monster fan. Such a treasure they are just starting to mine again woot!
Yes, I do like the Universal Monsters. The house really grew on me. I saw some different new SA’s in different areas of the house I had not noticed before. It was one of those houses that you needed to go into a number of times to appreciate.

I liked that every time I was in that house I got the full on goodbye by the bungeed Hunch Back on my way out.

How did u like the house this year in comparison to last?
Last years house of course was heavily Mummy so I liked the mix this year better.

I’m home.
Glad to hear you made it home Safely.

What is the garage sale? Did I miss something?
Every year Universal has a garage sale of some of their merch. The TM’s get first crack at the merch as they should then it is open to AP holders.

Today canned some quarts of pickles
Wow……making apple pie and canning pickles. Just reading all that makes me tired.

Congratulations to Kyle on his run times. Sounds like he has taken to running like a natural.

Glad to hear you are doing better.

Trip back home was fairly smooth until we approached Nashville. There was a truck accident that held traffic up for awhile.

We did make a couple stops to look at a couple places along the way.

I did a bit to much shopping on this trip. Lots of Christmas and birthday things purchased.

Did get a couple of the Little Boo backpacks for family and a few HHN T-shirts for family. I sent them pic of options and let them decide.

IMG_6445.jpeg

I did get to the store today and bags unpacked and a little laundry done.

Now for a restful evening.

Have a wonderful Sunday evening everyone.

Glad you`re back home safe and sound Robbie and weren`t held for too long with the accident. No such thing as too much shopping.....lol.....good to make a dent in the Christmas shopping!

Yes, Kyle has been running now for two years and the long term runners he knows are impressed with how quickly he took to it back then, I wish now he had taken to it years ago as a teen or younger, but he loves it and enjoys it now.

Welcome home and glad you and your sister had such a lovely trip...:)

We did have a wild and woolly night out there, I don`t think it was as bad as it was predicted to be, it very rarely is, but wild enough. I do love falling asleep listening to wind howling and rain battering down, although there wasn`t much rain in the end. Next warning up is Wednesday night into Thursday morning, again, up to 50mph for several hours.

Looks decent this morning, Venus was shining like the moon when I got up this morning, incredible sight. A bit wild still, but not too bad, so we`ll head out and do some shopping, we need fresh veg and some fruit and not much else so we shouldn`t be out long. Do need to drop a card and gift into one friend who turns 50 today, I swear this girl doesn`t look a day over 35! She has amazing skin and complexion, she is very outdoorsy so maybe that`s her secret.

Having the rest of the chicken casserole for dinner tonight, will do some doughballs for me in there when I reheat it, will do Tom a baked potato, he loves them, I don`t, it`s probably the only way I don`t like potatoes....gimme wedges though, I like them! Lunch will be egg mayo sandwiches, mixed with some green onion and sliced tomatoes on top, plain old toast with preserves for breakfast and our usual tea. No idea what we`ll eat the rest of the week, never been that kind of a planner.

Another Monday ahead.......

Thank you Carole. I’am glad to be back home. Missed my hubby.

Always nice to go away on vacation. We had a wonderful time. We had an opportunity to spend a couple of days with our older sister D. So it was special.

I have been debating on taking a photo of my shopping haul….I had to fold down my seats in the back of my SUV to get our luggage and all our shopping back home.

You don’t think you have bought that much until you pull all the bags out of the closet to pack and go home.

Today is my little sister K’s birthday.

IMG_8058.gif

IMG_8060.gif

Not a lot planned for the day. Have to go to jewelry store and pick up a ring I dropped off to be sized before leaving for vacation.

Need to call and make an appointment for SUV at dealership. I took it in for a service light on the dashboard before we left. They said battery needed to be replaced so we replaced the battery. The light came on again while we were in Florida. So we will see what it is this time.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone.

Hi Robo: I know what you mean by the traffic around Nashville! It is horrible to drive through without an accident! We used to live West of Nashville and had to drive into town at times. It was a nightmare back then, and I hear it is much worse now.
It sounds like you had a wonderful trip:)

We did have a wild and woolly night out there,
We must be having the same gloomy weather! We have had 3 days and nights of rain, wind, and colder!!!! The weatherman is promising low 70's later this week and I'm holding him to it! Nothing to do but eat, read, watch TV, and play on the laptop, and dream of our trip in November:) I spent this AM cleaning the living room/dining area and it took me 2 HOURS!!!! I swear I would never hire myself because I just keep getting slower and slower.

Have a good Monday:)

I hate cleaning!! But, I seem to very good at it, and according to my friends I am a little OCD with cleaning and housework.....I don`t think I am, I just like everything, well, clean, but apparently I don`t give anything time to get dirty......lol....maybe they`re right!

It was weirdly very warm today considering the time of year and we`ve to get 70F tomorrow, then the storm hits Wednesday night.....50mph winds.....joy!

I like the sound of your day though, sounds like ours too at times!!! Tom swears I vacuum with one hand while I hold the ipad in my other......lol....I really don`t!!!

Hope your weather does get a little better as when winter kicks in for you, it`s not fun!!

Lovely day today, got out early and it was really nice, we both had a jacket on, but didn`t need them, so spent some time in the garden with the gardener, he is almost mesmerised by my lack of knowledge in all things gardening!!! I did pick some rosemary and chives and left them to it, they still have their wine making kit in the man shed......I don`t drink it though.

Trying to convince them to put in a gin still and make me some gin!! Not sure that might be a good idea...... 😉

Enjoyed dinner tonight, didn`t bother with any dessert but did have a cherry scone with clotted cream and strawberry preserve with our pot of tea, that`ll do us tonight.

Hope she has a lovely day Robbie 🎁🛍️🎉🥂
Thank you Carole.

Hi Ruth, hope you and your family are doing well.

I was reminded this trip that driving to Florida is not for the faint of heart. It has gotten more dangerous overall I believe.

The big hurdles to get through on our route are Nashville, Chattanooga and Atlanta.

You having lived near Nashville know the nightmare a traffic accident can cause on the roads. I agree it is worse now.

Glad to hear you had a nice day in your garden. It is so nice to be outdoors.

I know just enough to get by in the garden. I do like to try and grow things. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. I just like being outside.
