Something About Nothing............ #14

Middle DS eyed up the plethora of garden tomatoes on the counter and asked if I’d make sauce. Was planning on the sort with just blistered cherry tomatoes But, he’s hankering for red sauce. Almost done, smells heavenly.

ugh why did my quotes disappear. Sorry another post coming

Home made sauce is hard to beat whatever it may be!! Sounds lovely.

I had exuberant young adults repeatedly bump into my back in one house, finally to point they managed to hit my legs and into the chair bars my leg went. had to laugh, disney has imprinted on my brain. First thing i thot inspecting it initially was the one mark looked like a hidden mickey.

When are you traveling? to U?

promised the mr I would tomorrow if it hasn’t disappeared. I’m moving it about, icing & finally found my compression socks this afternoon. i insisted on buying black ones vs the white when podiatrist ordered them Years ago. the mr said I look like a school boy with my matching black shorts. I see it, lol. Feel heavenly, just an ordeal getting them on When you have a bit of padding ‘round the gut lol

yep, that‘s it. Didn’t know, thanks. Will look for that & make sure to grab a banana

did you visit the near-by bakery when at Homecoming? One of these trips I may brave that line. Their other location:

Not sure if they offer the same goodies at DS one

Oh, it’s a real death march when it’s in the 90’s…that concrete just makes it feel so much worse

Indeed!

Glad you said folks, not kids hehe. Yes, we still have ample here the mr is snacking upon

Pirates sail those seas. They often put a 2 person limit that I think is easily by-passable. That figment bucket last year was a real challenge to find. Then I had two other family members see it and ask for their own.

We were in Epcot the first day they had meet & greet/pic with Figment. The line was 5 hours long at the get-go. We skipped it. Figure demand may die down by end of Nov.

Hope the leg is better today and no ill effects. That had to hurt a lot, down side of the close proximity you are in the houses to other folks. I`m sure you`re still keeping an eye on it, just in case.

Pirates? Always see Johnny Depp whenever someone mentions Pirates.....least it`s not rum I suppose :duck:

Me: I really need to lose some weight so I can ride this HP ride again.

Hope you enjoyed it and have a good day today.

It is hump day - I can almost see the weekend peeking through!

It was/is another crisp fall day here. It is a little breezy - but not too bad.

Dinner last night was beef (elk) bites in gravy over garlic mashed potatoes with green beans and salad. It was alright - not as flavorful as I wanted. OH well - when your cooking at the end of the day and everyone just needs to eat - it was alright. It wasn't one of those times I could fuss with it alot.

I am not sure what is on the menu for tonight yet - still have half the roast in the fridge. Just no idea what to make with it yet.

Geeze...I started this post this AM. I've been busy today - or just distracted :rolleyes1 without getting much accomplished lol

As long as they taste good - right????

I hope your leg is on the mend now.

Sounds like a great day!

:cheer2:

Yikes....that sounds kind of scary to hit you like that! I hope it doesn't last long

Sending positive vibes for great results.

Yum! I hear you on enjoying the nicer weather while it's here.

Enjoy your evening!

Well, I should find more papers to shuffle or perhaps shred

Have a great day everyone!

I love meal planning. I know some folks plan a week ahead, I can never do that, maybe the day before if I want to make something that sitting overnight will enhance the flavour, but other than that no planning.

Thanks, it does come on quick, you never get any warning it`s going to hit. Thank goodness for meds!!!

that’s not any fun when rain comes and can’t enjoy the parks
🫤

Yep, no amount of babble can convince me it`s fun in the rain, never quite got that need to still do the parks when it`s chucking down. We much prefer to go for a nice dinner or anything really......lol......

You are right Mac. No fun on rainy night.

Update on HHN tonight.

I felt the need to hold up for the fearless older HHN brigade. I ventured over to HHN at about 9:30 pm and I was the only person on the boat from Portofino.

It was still raining, but it had slowed some. Poncho on board and off I went.

Back in the day if there was rain the house lines would be light. Not so tonight every youngster in Orlando was in line for the houses.

There was a 100 minute wait for Monsters Unmasked and the regular line was all the way back to the entrance to E.T. If you have ventured back to this house you know that was going go be a long wait.

I waited 20 minutes with express.

I worked my way on along to the back 3 houses and “Darkest Deal”, Last of US” and Dr Oddfellow House. All of these houses were on Delay.

Other houses in the front had decent wait times.

The Tribute Store was closed.

There were a few Scare Actors in a couple Scare Zones

I shopped some requested HHN shirts for the family and headed back to the Resort.

All showered and ready for bed.

Good night everyone.

View attachment 795812

That is a long line if you don`t have EP Robbie, yes never quite the same without the SA out and about. I hate to see rain on a HHN as we all know the effort that goes into the event.

When do you head home Robbie? I`m forgetful of when folks come and go this month. And thank you, yes doing much better thanks to getting meds into me very quickly.

This month really is flying past!!!

Had a very good sleep last night. Those meds from the doc make you drowsy anyway, but I found yesterday when I tried to nap, I just couldn`t fall over. I think my brain was worried I`d wake up with a full blown incident where everything swims and swirls even when your eyes are closed. But, I`m so thankful it wasn`t that bad. Didn`t wake up till just after 7am, so had a good 9 hour sleep which is wonderful. Feeling so much better this morning, thank you for all the nice wishes.

Will keep the meds going for 5 days or so as instructed and will call the doc for a prescription request for more medication so I always have some handy.

Another day of staying in though, no bending or moving too swiftly, will give Tom a list we need from a couple of different places. He is very good at shopping and can happily send him on his own. I will guarantee he`ll get at least four staff in places ask him "where is she today" as we genuinely are always together, you tend not to see one without the other.

And he brings me back goodies when he`s on his own too......❤️

Going to get Tom go for fish and chips from the chippie tonight for dinner, lunch is BLTA`s and going to have a poached egg on toast when he gets up later. I have made myself a pot of tea when I got up, will have another pot when Tom comes down.

Sun is shining after a few days of high winds and rain, might have a short walk out later if it stays that way.

Happy Thursday......

Baskets of clean laundry here as far as the eye can see. Going to finish that cuppa, put on the compression stocking and have at it. Swelling much improved, no hot spots either. TBH a bit antsy as I wanted to keep up the walking pace. Hoping by the weekend it will be back in shape

Carole hope you’re feeling better today!

Charade likes her butter beer 🍺. I, not do much , not even the frozen. Just too much like cream of soda for me

Have you tried making any of the home versions?

A sheetz (gas station/mini marts) located half hour from my house has started to carry the same ‘ice cream’.

Considering taking some chilled pineapple juice and concoct one for consumption in parking lot. Yes, I have a dole whip problem. Still kicking myself for skipping it last trip

Heck no, when it’s pouring cats and dogs, what do u do? Go to the Magic Kingdom
Well, that’s a definite option. One we’d usually choose when we first started to visit the parks. Definitely culls the herd Glad u had fun.

That area is infamous for poor drainage & derp ponding water.

The metal walkways of this year, a good idea but, they don’t do a thing for the majority of backstage areas you need to traverse to reach the house locations

Know you are a u monster fan. Such a treasure they are just starting to mine again woot!

How did u like the house this year in comparison to last?

I wanted to really like it, despite multiple run thrus; found it overall disappointing

Lol way to take one for the team

I did see several late middle school Age kids wearing what appeared to be brand new Orlando hell week tshirts. :scratchin

Thot that annual rite of passage for area kids (seem to recall 3rd week in Oct?) had ceased due to revised school schedules several years ago.

Wonder if there is a new push for it among the kids?

Hi Keishashadow:
My daughter and I will be a Universal 11/27 to 12/1 - a 5 day girl trip:) It will be so nice to finally meet Tom and Carole.
I'm glad you are feeling better. You are nicer than me about constantly getting hit by a WC. I get grumpy and would probably say something, because it sounds like you had some not fun issues from that. But glad you are better.

It's thirsty Thursday ...and the weekend is on the horizon :cheer2: We had a good cover of frost on the lawn and vehicles this morning.

I think we will be taking the boat out for one last fishing trip before we shrink wrap and pack it away for the winter. Hopefully the smoke stays away. With the smoke and harvest still happening around here, it is definitely affecting mine and ds's allergies. So far today - it looks promising for low smoke today.

I made it to the gym last night. DH has been putting in crazy hours at work - in early and working late. Until they hire someone to help take over the project managing there will be lots of crazy hours yet. So with us eating dinner late ( 7pm late) I haven't felt like going since we are eating later. I'm going to see how busy the gym is when I'm done work at 4:30. I might be able to be there before the evening rush. I don't like going when it's busy. It's too " peopley " for me.

I see that Universal extended their promo and it is now running until Mid February! Hopefully they extend it again. We are hoping for late winter/early spring for a trip. If we have 5 days for the price of 3 - it will mean that we can take our time and not rush to get to fit everything in we want to partake in.

Go to the Magic Kingdom. Yep, walk on most rides, and fireworks to go off in about 1/2 hour. So we will stay. I’d post sone pictures, but my phone doesn’t t like my wet finger as much as little one’s phone. So I’ll ask her to send the shots to me. Right now, we downed a funnel cake, and waiting to go to the castle front in about 15 minutes.
YAY!!! Wonderful pictures. I  MK. I have a tale about the fireworks

When dd and I went for the first time - we were standing in line at SDMT and of course - one of the trains broke down so the line was taking FOREVER!!!! We were getting close to getting onto the ride - and I commented that I really hoped we would make the fireworks show and not be caught in the line while the show was happening. DD was like "mom, it's just fireworks - it's not that big if a deal" I just smiled and nodded. We got to complete the ride shortly after - then quickly found a spot in the front of the castle just minutes before the fireworks started. After the show was over - she looked at me with tears streaming down her face - "That was amazing! I didn't think they would be anything like that!" I watched her face more than they show - because I knew how much she was going to love it.

Now I can't wait for dh and ds to experience it!
Today was our HP day. We did early entry which wasn’t bad at all. I was expecting the crowds to be larger. We went straight to Hagrid’s motorbike like everyone else. The posted wait was 50 minutes but the line moved well. I wasn’t able to ride Forbidden Journey, but did get to ride Flight of the Hippogriff and Escape from Gringots.
After lunch we watched the Blues Brothers show and then the Bourne stunt show. We ended our day with shakes from Toothsome.
FUN!!!!!! Sounds like a great day! I just  the HP parts of the park. It is just so immersive.
It was still raining, but it had slowed some. Poncho on board and off I went.
I seen posts of all the water at Univeral - and thought of you! I hope you have your water shoes packed!

That's true love - bringing back the goodies when the other is not around :lovestruc

It's good to hear your on the mend from this episode of dizziness. I can handle quite a bit of pain - but nausea will take me down than a faster than me eating a bag of chips!!!!!!! I am a huge baby with nausea.
Considering taking some chilled pineapple juice and concoct one for consumption in parking lot. Yes, I have a dole whip problem. Still kicking myself for skipping it last trip
I've never had one :o They sound delicious - and in our trips into the US, I've never had one. It is on my list of food to try!

Well, I should do some shuffling of papers! I was also brought the big @ss binder to review - all the health and safety - and all that fun jazz.

Have a great day everyone!

You`ll be back walking the way you were before you know it. Yes, I`m feeling much better thanks Janet.

Frost??? Far too early for that, although we can see the dampness in the mornings now and evenings.

Glad you got to the gym though.....

Yep, on the mend thanks. Like you I can take pain, but dizziness and nausea....nope, can`t deal with it, well, you don`t have much choice I guess, but very thankful for the meds.

Fish and chips were lovely tonight. We don`t often use this chippy but I think it`s better than the one we normally use, so we`ll go back another time, very nice indeed.

Plan to go out tomorrow morning, into town to pay some cheques in and there`s a farmers market in the centre, so we`ll have a wander round that too, then pick up one of our friends daughters who is arriving by train, we said we`d get her and take her home. Won`t take long, might have some lunch out with her, we`ll see.

Night in front of the tv tonight with a glass of pepsi...then another early night!

That big globe day for us. Went around noon, then back for snacking and resting, then back to watch the show at closing. Rain while we rested in room, then a mostly clear night. Haven’t seen it before, so hope we staked out a good spot.

Charade, hope your last full day is full of fun. Was nice to meet up with you and B. the other day.

People are coming more and more around us, as about 1/2 to go before the show.

Friday I’m store, and we swapped today, so swapping tomorrow too.

Thirsty Thursday it is. Still very humid. Saying humidity tonight making it feel 5 degrees warmer.

Last day. 🙁
Today we started at Universal Studios and re-rode some of our favorite rides. We had lunch at the Minion Cafe. The food was pretty good and the cafe was really cute.
We eventually took the train over to IOA. Yesterday it was pretty dead, but today it was a 45 minute wait. We got to IOA just as Hagrid’s had reopened after being down for some time. We rode again and then it got shut down due to weather. After the storm we wandered through the park, rode a few more rides, and did some shopping. We ended the day with dinner at Bigfire.

Those are some die hard HHN fans. I thought the crowds would be much lighter.

Had a very good sleep last night. Those meds from the doc make you drowsy anyway, but I found yesterday when I tried to nap, I just couldn`t fall over. Glad you are feeling better. I don’t know much about Vertigo, but I have a friend who suffers from it from time to time. It usually takes her out for at least a day.

Charade likes her butter beer 🍺. I, not do much , not even the frozen. Just too much like cream of soda for me

I didn’t get any butter beer this trip. It’s a little too sweet for my taste now.
We once made butter beer fudge when B was in a Harry Potter club.

I bought that deal for B on this trip. I loved having 5 days to go at my own pace.

It's good to hear your on the mend from this episode of dizziness. I can handle quite a bit of pain - but nausea will take me down than a faster than me eating a bag of chips!!!!!!! I am a huge baby with nausea.
Same here. I can not stand to be nauseous. I once went to Kroger in the middle of the night for anti- nausea medicine.

Charade, hope your last full day is full of fun. Was nice to meet up with you and B. the other day.

This has been a great trip. It was nice to see you again and meet your daughter.

Quick summary of Aventura.
The good:
Price
Great staff
I didn’t have to walk a mile to get to my room.
Bus service was great.
Clean, comfortable room
Decent food available at the hotel
B liked the pool

The bad:
The nightstand was small. It held a lamp, phone, and the control tablet. There was not enough room for my CPAP. It had to put it in the top drawer of the nightstand.

I would definitely stay here again, but I also will try out other hotels in the future.

Glad you had such a lovely trip Charade, especially as your daughter could come along with you. Happy you got to ride Hagrid`s too, quite the ride!!

What did you have at the Minion cafe? I think we might give it a go, heard varying reports from people. My nephew liked it but Sara didn`t, I forget what she got.

Thank you, vertigo is truly dreadful. I first experienced it when I was about 7 months pregnant with Kyle, had no idea what has happening. My mum gets it too, so maybe one of those hereditary things, who knows.

Another wonderful sleep last night, again, slept till around 7.30am and never stirred the whole night, one more day of the medication I think as all signs of dizziness have gone now, but one more day won`t harm.

Heading into town later, well as soon as we`ve had breakfast as because it`s Farmers market day in the town, parking is at a premium, so we`ll get there and wander round as the bank we use in that town now doesn`t open till 10am, weirdly closes at 3pm.

Hope to pick up something nice from the farmers market. And we were supposed to be picking up one of my goddaughters from the train, but don`t need to anymore she`s not arriving till tomorrow, so her parents can get her then. So might just come home for lunch, we`ll see. I`m thinking lasagne for dinner tonight, I made a large batch and froze it in portions, so might bring that out before we leave this morning.

Looks lovely out there, sun is shining brightly although a little chilly, definitely jacket weather now, light ones though and might be time to look out the old hats. Hopefully it`ll warm up as the day goes on.

But, another happy Friday......

Good morning. We are having breakfast while we wait for the airport shuttle. There is a very excited little boy here who keeps announcing that he will be going to bed in 14 hours. I wish his parents luck for the day.

What did you have at the Minion cafe?
I had ropa vieja and B had the salmon. The only thing I didn’t like was the tostones, which I think are supposed to be fried plantains. They were cooked beyond recognition. The meat, rice, and vegetables were really good though.

I ended up not spending all of the gift cards i earned from the focus group. They don’t have an expiration date, so I will be able to use them on a future trip.

Well, I think I`ve finally reached the cranky age.

Went into the bank to pay in birthday cheque`s, very few staff compared to before, there was one lady and one young man on the counters.......when it`s our turn the young man greets us with "Yo, howdy"

What the heck happened to Good morning how can I help you!!!!

Before that I grumped about folks smoking around us, someone not saying thank you after I let her go in front of us and a man walk in front of our car as if we had our invisibility shield on again!!!!

1695378999880.jpeg

Tom teased I`ve become one with the rest of the real world......lol........

Picked up a few things from the market, it was busy as it was such a gorgeous morning, hope it stays that way for the weekend, we have volunteered our driveway to Kyle and some of his running group on Sunday as there is an event in the next town, it`s 2 mile to the start of the run so a load of them will park here and walk to the start. They did it last year when we were in America, so told Kyle to tell everyone that wants to can park up again this year as parking is very limited with the event being on.

Didn`t go out for lunch in the end so as it`s a little chilly, we made some grilled sandwiches again and a very large pot of tea.

Lazy afternoon for us.

Good morning. We are having breakfast while we wait for the airport shuttle. There is a very excited little boy here who keeps announcing that he will be going to bed in 14 hours. I wish his parents luck for the day.

Aw what a shame, I love Tostones. Tom liked the sound of the salmon, I am looking forward to it though.

Yes, nice idea to keep the gift cards for another trip.

Safe journey home.

It's Fun day Friday!!!

I picked up some doughnuts for work today! After what feels like a long week - I thought we needed a pick me up at work. My tea is tasting mighty fine too - and is not going to last nearly long enough.

It was a crisp cool morning. There was no frost - but lots of moisture on my windshield that took a bit to go away before I could drive off. Forecast is calling for decent daytime temps - so I'll take as many of those as I can get!

There was a huge discussion last night about trying some new bait on our last fishing trip tomorrow. I think I will be sticking with the momma 2.0 lure and minnow as bait. It has worked the best for me. I"ll stick with the tried and true. They can mess around if they want.

Not sure what is on the menu tonight. If the wind stays down - I might hit the butcher and pick up some chicken and grill it. Next week - will be meal planned. My week goes so much smoother when I have an idea of what I want to cook/ vs coming up with something on the fly at 5:00 pm

That big globe day for us. Went around noon, then back for snacking and resting, then back to watch the show at closing. Rain while we rested in room, then a mostly clear night. Haven’t seen it before, so hope we staked out a good spot.
I hope it was a good day!
Last day. 🙁
Today we started at Universal Studios and re-rode some of our favorite rides. We had lunch at the Minion Cafe. The food was pretty good and the cafe was really cute.
Awwwww, it goes so fast! It never really is long enough is it? It sounds like you and B had a great time though. What are your top rides?
Looks lovely out there, sun is shining brightly although a little chilly, definitely jacket weather now, light ones though and might be time to look out the old hats. Hopefully it`ll warm up as the day goes on.
We are in the 3-4 seasons/day season lol. It's very cool in the mornings that you need a coat - by lunch/afternoon you need shorts on - and then evenings you need a sweater.

As I was driving to work this AM I was grateful to still see leaves on the trees. Usually once we get those gusty days - they will all be blown off. Trees are still full of turning leaves.
Tom teased I`ve become one with the rest of the real world......lol........
Some days I think the same about me :scratchin I find my patience for impolite people now is VERY short.
I hope Kyle's run this weekend goes splendid and he is satisfied with where he places when finished.

Well, my tea is almost empty so that signals it's time to start the ole' paper shuffle lol

Have a great day everyone!

Magic not early entry but close. Ride almost everything with a 15 minute or less wait. We thought our VQ would be called at 1 pm, but to no avail. Guess we will find some more things to do, to wait it out to ride Tron.

Fabulous weather here. Hot and mostly sunny. Weekend will be some other parks’ fun the one day, then a nice lunch, as back to that big globe park the day after. Then a whole week day week to repeat parks again. Wee! Having a great time so far.

Rude people are the worst, I struggle to hold my voice anymore at times. Then think, it`s not worth it.

I think we`re having similar weather right now, moisture on cars in the morning, but quite nice during the day, however today I think we`ll stay at around the low 50`s. Yesterday was chilly first thing, but in the sunshine just after lunch it was warm, then the clouds blew in and it rained for a few hours. Joys of autumn.

Yes, coming home at 5 and then trying to decide what to have for dinner isn`t ideal, so I can see why meal planning works for you. I did try it once, but none of us ever stuck to it, so I never bothered after that.

Thanks, he loves running so much!

I’m home.

Glad you got home safe and sound.

Charade
We left the light on for you!

I used to like when Charade put up the different lights for us.

Another late sleep this morning, it was delightful, looked dull outside but so warm and cosy in bed, so we stayed put for another couple of hours. Finally got up and Tom made me a roll with a sunny side up egg for breakfast, albeit a late breakfast. Might not bother with any lunch and have some snacks mid afternoon.

Making a Thai curry for dinner tonight, made the base sauce yesterday will add chicken and fresh ingredients later and it can simmer away, coconut rice again too with it and we`ve chosen a couple of bottles of white wine for tonight too. Priorities!

But, after a late night, definitely going to be a slow and lazy one today, lots of snacks and lots of tea!!

Lazy Saturday. I went to Hobby Lobby to pock up a framed picture and drop 2 others off for framing. I will probably do some more stitching today while dh watches football. I will watch my school’s team play tonight.
When B and I got back to our home airport we saw some cheerleaders who were heading to the game in Miami. Our team is playing the team from the first university where dh worked.

I used to like when Charade put up the different lights for us.
Thanks. It was fun but got to be a little challenging to find a different light each night.

Saturday in the Studios. Scored the lounge fly Loki backpack at 60 off. Pink stuffed donut cost me 2 bucks. Most of what I saw at the garage sale was not for me.
What is the garage sale? Did I miss something?

I’m starting to wish I had waited to come home until after this football game was over.
