Someone must really like Mansion Game

Is it just me or does it seem to anyone else that whomever VMK staff dreams up the quests really, really, likes the Haunted Mansion game? The thing that troubles me is that for the other mini-games, the quest is usually set near the minimum requirement (20,000 Jungle Cruise, 50,000 fireworks, 1,000 Pirates).

Frankly, I think ALL the minigames should be at similar levels. If you are going to set the minimum difficulty low in the other minigames, then the Mansion should be down there too; not set at a whopping level 3 (which is what I figure the 50 ghosts work out to if you average 16-18 ghosts and can play all three levels).

Or, if you are going to favor those who are good at one game over another, at least mix it up so that the pirate and fireworks excelers can have their day to look down their little cyber noses at the ones who complain they can'd "do" fireworks over 200,000.

I don't know which is worse. The maddening effort to get 50 ghosts or the guests who are good at the came crowing about how easy it is.

After a solid effort I did manage to get over 50 and that was pure luck of the draw in whom I was playing with. I'm pretty decent at most games (other than this one) and I really feel for those who don't have the hang of it.

Okay, I'm off my high-horse. But please, VMK staff, if you do read this, reconsider the difficulty levels in your quests. These are supposed to be fun. Or, if you really want to maintain a few "difficult" quests, at least bring ALL the mini-games into some sort of parity so that you don't consistently favor just the one Mansion group.

Edit to add: Thanks VMK Staff for easing up on the Haunted Mansion game for High School Musical.

I thought that the 50 ghosts was high for the music quest. I'm a decent mansion player (although not as good as I was when it first came out and I was playing like 12 hours a day ;) ). I had to struggle to get the 50 ghosts today.

They just make these things too hard for the kids. I wish they did more like the car quests--have different levels so that the kids can at least achieve some of them.

I agree that the level of ghosts that need to be caught is too high. But I also believe that many of the questions in both quests are just too hard for most people. I've even seen Angels in the Infield, I even own it. But, many of the questions I never would have been able to answer without the help of the spoilers threads.

They are just making these quest too hard for most adults, let alone the kids.
Make them a little easier, folks.

Setting a quest at 50 ghosts is extreme, like Karen said, when it first came out Ghosts was easier but ever since they did an upgrade to VMK Ghosts are almost impossible for me to catch on a dial up connection and I have 768 megabytes of Ram! I used to catch ghosts easy not anymore partly because I hardly ever play and partly because the rooms are so slow!

These quests are just too hard for the ave child and VMK needs to get a clue!

Not to mention that I played the darned thing TWICE, got enough ghosts each time :furious: , didn't count vacuuming the other players.......and TWICE I have not moved on in the quest! ARG!

There is a good thing about it being challenging to some players. They will trade a lot for it! Before I got my microphones today, I heard somebody was trading a Stitch pin for a microphone.

On the other side of the arguement, it's frustrating when you can't get it. You stress out and you know what they say, everytime you stress out, you lose 15 minutes of your life. VMK IS KILLING US!!! :rotfl:

The biggest problem with the Haunted Mansion game is that you are so dependent on other players. You can't start a game by yourself, you can't finish a game by yourself. It also seems to be the "buggiest" game causing lots of crashes.

If they are going to include the game in one day quests, 25 ghosts is a reasonable number. Fifty (especially when there is another limited quest where you need 25 running at the same time) is far too many.

A higher number is ok on the permanent quests, because at least then you can set up a time and get others to help you. On the limited quests it just makes it far too difficult. VMK should look at the numbers for how many people had started the quest but weren't able to get past the mansion.

(I managed to get 4 characters through both quests today, but it has taken me pretty much ALL day)

I agree with everyone here. My mouse died for my laptop so I have to use the touchpad. Yeah right...I'm going to catch 50 ghosts with a touchpad. Ha!
I tried the high school musical quest today but I was not in the ghosting mood. I barely scraped by with 25 ghosts so no microphone for me. :( Oh well, at least I have the baseball outfit. :thumbsup2

The microphone quest killed me today, not the quest as a whole but the haunted mansion and catching ghosts did. It took me 4 hours to get done with it with trying to get into the game and then trying to get three rounds in and then hoping to god no one disconnects. It just went on and on. Eventrually with some effort I finished the quests twice, once for a family member and once for me. For kids, the haunted mansion amount for catching ghosts is crazy. I mean I bet a lot of kids today wanted that microphone so badly, but just couldn't do it because of the amount of ghosts that were required for the quest. VMK definately should have kept it at 25, it would have freed up the haunted mansion game rooms and of course made it alittle easier for others on dial up and for kids.

I would say that high school musical quest was very apealling to the younger crowd and was far more dificult and long then the other. I have to do them so many times I just don't like them by the end, I think these general population quests should be kept around 25 ghosts 50 k fireworks, 15k jungle cruise (if they feel they must put it in - I am so tired of Jungle cruise I may not even ride the ride at the park anymore) Pirates that wasn't bad 1000 point lead. The worst part was two quests with both including the mansion, you could not get a game up. They have had these issues before and should solve them or do it another way. I was thinking though the other day about a letter regarding the green car quest and how that was the same magic as the blue, pink, and yellow, just showed different skill and they felt the original was too easy. (I know I wandered a bit, and I am tired, sorry) Now if the amount required was proportional and 280K is required for fireworks then ghosts for that should be set at 100. If they had Jungle Cruise 60K and pirates would be individual score of 50K. These are the numbers that would correspond with the skill level. So to bring it back I agree they should keep the skill level on the games at a lower number for these weekend quests

I sooo agree! 50 ghosts is outrageous! Hopefullyit is still around for awhile because I was three questions away from finishing, but it was too late to start a new game. It is a holiday weekend and people were not around all day to do shoes and microphone. Oh well. I guess if its gone tomorrow, I will have to trade something big for it! If I can find something big! LOL

I would love to see them give you a choice for some of the quests, especially green car. Instead of requiring 280,000 in fireworks, why not offer the choice of that score, OR 100 ghosts OR 60,000 on Jungle Cruise OR 50,000 on pirates. Then at least those of us who do well at the other games would have a chance. Why is fireworks so darn special?

The thing that annoyed me the most about Mansion was the fact that today they had two quests involving ghosts... and that the requirement was 50 on one of them --- and as we saw on Friday, way too high for most people to complete for a one-day only quest. And since both quests required Mansion, the game was always full, sooooooo slow, and when a game got up, everybody and their momma would jump on it --- thereby making it pretty impossible for everyone to get the necessary amount of ghosts since sharing is a tough thing to do in-game unless you're organized and conscientious about it!

Anyways, it's just been really hard to watch this past weekend. Many times you're helping someone and you just *know* they're not going to make it, no matter how much you help them --- some people just can't catch the ghosts --- even if there is a sea of 20 of their color floating around them. I don't know if it's because they need more practice or their computer is freezing up or whatever, but you know they're not going to make it in that one-day period.

On the other hand, if they had to pick a game to require a higher standard to (maybe just not necessarily SO high), I'm glad that they chose Mansion to do it for --- simply because it is a game that you can help people out on. It's great to play with friends. The same with Pirates. With Fireworks and Jungle Cruise, it's all up to you. If I'm going to have to suffer by repetitively playing something over and over, I'd rather do it with friends and have some fun while I'm at it :p

Not trying to start a huge debate or anything, but does anyone think it might be possible that this microphone mess of a quest might be similar to the green car magic quest in that they want to "keep it rare" ??? Ditto for the baseball hat.

If that's true, which is my suspicion that it is, then someone should be ashamed of themselves. Especially about the hat since they decided to be pills and not let girls buy the blue one. I saw children (or at least I think they were children) in the game today so incredibly upset. I, myself, after FOUR HOURS of trying to catch those stupid ghosts had to fight back a tear-filled meltdown. I was literally in and out of the HM lobby over those four hours, and by hour 2 I was begging for help. It was pathetic, and I'm pretty angry right now. Especially if the microphone quest does last more than one day; anyone else think, if that's right that it'll be around longer, that they released it today to cut down on people getting extra shoes? If so, that's crummy too because I couldn't even get my mom's shoes for her, let alone any extras to trade cheaply to people who missed them.

If a 23 year old can't do these stupid quests, then an 8 year old (the average one) surely can't. I was playing for my mom at the end of the night, had just missed Jungle Cruise by 1 minute (needed to get her baseball shoes as she has a worse time of Mansion than I do), and we were all talking about how un-Disney the whole thing is. I've read so many books and accounts of Walt Disney, and I know he would be heartbroken to see adults and children so upset over something that DOES NOT NEED TO BE THIS WAY. Whoever's in charge of this needs to get a reality check. I really do not appreciate having hours of my time taken up all because they decided to be extreme with a (possibly) one day quest. It wouldn't have been half as bad if it weren't for all the DCs and crashes. I had over 50 ghosts 2x, and both times the game died. Once it booted me back to the log in screen, and the 2nd time it crashed my entire internet. So maybe instead of thinking up new ways to torture us just to get items we'd all like, they could spend their time fixing bugs and getting some more server space!!! :furious:

*steps off soapbox* :rolleyes1

Can I just say that the ghosts literally had me in tears today?

And then like rays of sunshine on a cloudy day, others came to help me - THANK YOU!!! 50 is a LOT! The people who played with me were INCREDIBLE at that game and so kind to help. 50, however, is a very experienced level in that game. I don'tknow why, but for some reason I just cannot get that game down.

If this quest is meant to get us all excited about the new in park quest - or is supposed to bring new ppl to vmk, I think it will do the opposite. If it frustrated me, I can only imagine kids out there who are not good at ghosts. 50 is unattainable for many, not challenging, just out of reach.

Of course the straw to break the back today was that after getting past those ghosts, myself and a friend (who stuck by my side and would not go ahead and finish the quest) both reached pirates at 9 minutes to close. That's right - too late to start a new game. So no microphones. Hoping it will still be around tomorrow.

I really want one. But, I will do what I need to do to get my friend a microphone. Friends like that are not easy to find.

Sorry I rambled a bit, but, hey, at least it started and ended with friends - maybe that is the only true magic in vmk.

My husband got on yesterday morning and said 50 ghosts in the quests for shoes- he didn't even realize that he wasn't doing the shoe quest at the time- I here much under-the breath grumbling and then he quits- gets back on a bit later and realizes there are two quests- makes it through the shoes then quits

I'm watching "Into the West" and nursing a hand with really bad carpal tunnel or something else going that doesn't let me do much with it... so I didn't even log on to the computer at all yesterday.

Later DH goes back on and I suggest that he at least try to get shoes for the kids- he ends up getting them for all of us- (BTW- if anyone said hi to me yesterday in the game dh was playing my character and didn't say hi or anything back- so if I was anti-social that is why :) ) I have no idea if he did the microphone quests too- hopefully those will still be around a bit longer.

But I agree- 50 is a lot- it is doable- but not while another quest is going on that is 1 day... too many people trying to play- I know on Friday when I was struggling through to play the biggest problem was having people dc/quit during a round of the game or the ones who just barely caught one or two ghosts even thought they moved all over the place- so there were none of mine to catch and way too many of the others.

There is no way my 8 1/2 yo could do these quests- none-

I think the crux of this is that there is no way most children are able to do these difficult quests and VMK needs to fix the bugs and get a new server and the VMK staff need a reality check and a little DISNEY MAGIC!

They need to stop with the ego bruising retaliation, mad because we post spoilers, and make these quest easy enough for the ave child to do.

Not to mention us ave adults who can not even complete them.

The one time I was close to the 50 ghost, had 4 more to catch VMK disconnected me!

After that I could not even come close.....Thanks for all who did try and help me through.

So frustrated by the hat quest on Friday I was not going to let VMK ruin my mood again yesterday.

DS and I have one pair of shoes to share or if he wants to keep them then I will let him(just really too ugly for me anyway- :rotfl: )and no mircophone yet.

If it is still there today I might try and win it later but it will not take over my life and ruin my day like I think the "staff" would like it too.

The whole point of VMK is to have fun and get kids to get their parents to take them to the parks...how is that accomplished if all VMK is doing with these events is angering, frustrating, and making kids(and adults I might add)cry!!! WHERE is the MAGIC in that!

IT seems to me that the slogan of VMK should be "unleash the rath of YAVN" instead of "unleash the Magic" seems someone has forgotten this is a Disney game and has lost their MAGIC PLACE! :sad2:

No buddying up to Big Daddy by me I will always remain a harsh critic of the way VMK is run and before someone says well if you hate it so much then don't play....I do not hate VMK I love the game and the friends I have in it. I hate the way Staff has lost sight of the whole concept of what VMK is and who it is really for and what it is supposed to do....which is ....

UNLEASH THE MAGIC!!!!

i agree...i had the exact same issue...nothing worse than getting all 50 ghosts and then having to start over...or how about VMK crashing or booting you before the game ends......very frustrating....
