Somebody's Gonna Pee in a Cup, West Coast - Link to new TR 1/21

I'll catch up on replies when we get home but I wanted to address this...

Oh my word, I didn't even think about the Star Wars half. Yikes!!!!!! Most folks won't arrive till weds at the earliest, a lot on Thursday and then the rest Friday. One good thing is that a lot of locals do the races so parks may not be quite as bad as you would think but since it's the first one, the expo will be insane, especially when it first opens which is maybe Thursday? I don't know if you'll overlap race traffic or not but Sunday will be a mess for sure until probably 11.

Our flight leaves at 8:30 Saturday morning. And I'm a nervous wreck. The first thing I'll do at check in is probably grille the cm about all road closure details and how I can get out of there during the10k that starts at 5:30 on Saturday.

I'm so afraid we'll have to leave at like 4:30 to get out ahead of the runners which will just set us up for another flight with grumpy, tired kids. :headache:

Oh well. We should know soon enough. We're heading straight up to Anaheim Tuesday morning. We won't have park tickets so we'll use the day for DTD, pool time and I really hope for a drink at Trader Sam's. Depending what I find out about the traffic situation I might really need it!

ok, I don't want you to be a wreck! But...yeah, it's a mess. I can't believe I didn't connect the dots, I am so sorry!

Click here for the official guide. It lists all road closures in it. I hate to add to your stress but, UGH!

Look at page 13 to see what impacted for your time frame. You definitely have an issue and may need to move your car the night before? I am sure they will help figure it out though but yeah, I'd deal with it the minute you get there.

Here is the 10K description and map

The Star Wars 10K race begins on Disneyland Drive where you’ll pass under the Downtown Disney® District on your way into Disney California Adventure® Park. There you’ll make your way through all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood Blvd, race down Route 66, and past breathtaking Paradise Bay. The race will travel down turn-of-the-century Main Street U.S.A., before it makes its way around the Rivers of America. After Disneyland®Park, the race will cut through Downtown Disney® by the Disneyland® Hotel continuing on to the City of Anaheim. You’ll race through the enchanting, historic neighborhoods of downtown Anaheim, down the Anaheim Center Street Promenade and past Anaheim Ice on your way towards City Hall. Before returning to the Disneyland® Resort, you’ll make your way past the Anaheim GardenWalk and then it’s on to a spectacular finish near Disney’s Paradise Pier® Hotel.

Runners will start lining up as early as 4am, crazy people possibly earlier to be honest. I would definitely get advice on how best to get out in the morning and to where you need to go (forget which airport). They are pretty good about keeping things flowing

Thanks, Cynthia. I saw that map yesterday doing all kinds of google searches on my phone during a less than intriguing conference session. I'm sure they have to have some kind of plan in place, but while you can find all kinds of information for runners getting there, there seems to be nothing for non-runners who just want to get to/from the resort.

It wasn't too bad. At least it was warm. Coming from the Midwest though, I thought it was ridiculous that hotels hosting convention guests didn't have an enclosed walkway to get you to the convention center without getting wet! :lmao:

Havent you heard the song? "It never rains in California..."

It just doesn't happen here. You were lucky enough to be here in one of the three times that it has rained in the last year. It happens so rarely here that it literally catches us off guard. Life comes to a halt. Folks dont know how to drive. People just stay home. Im surprised that the convention went on :rotfl2: I bet the so cal attendees stayed home! :lmao:

First, i'm SO sorry about the back pain.:scared: It's crazy what the simplest wrong move can do to you. Hopefully that Vicodin is working for you.

I think you got your answers about MM, so no comment here.

What an incredible upgrade and perfect start to the trip!:cool1:

Glad you made it to CA safe. Hopefully the kids won't be too bad for you on your return trip home. Can't wait to hear the update about Disneyland!

We're checked in at GCH... and the room was ready. Unfortunately, DS has puked 4 times this morning between San Diego and Disneyland so I don't know if our DTD and pool plan will happen or not. And it has definitely taken care of the decision whether or not to add a park day.

As for leaving Saturday. I've been told by a CM who seemed somewhat certain that I'd have to move our car to Disneyland Hotel's parking lot before midnight Friday and we'll be able to get out.

What, no upgrade this time?

Sad to hear that the little guy is sick ... I hope he's feeling better soon so that you guys can make the most of your Disney time!

Awwww....so sorry the little guy is sick again.

And even sorrier that the bar was closed for you since you obviously needed it.

Hope DS gets better quick! And that things start getting better while y'all are at DLR. :goodvibes

Moving to the DLH lot sounds like it would work if it exits where I think it does. But ugh on getting your stuff to the car. Just walking over there may be a bit of a challenge. Race starts at 5:30 but it will probably take till 6 or so before all the runners are actually released and on the course.

I am so so so sorry to read about DS, I hope by now the tummy has settled and things are better.

Noooooo to Trader Sam's not working out. I hope you were able to salvage some of the day and that tomorrow is dramatically better!

Not good!
That must have been one exceptionally long drive.
May this be something that goes away quickly... very quickly.

I wonder if the CM's where y'all are staying can help out some with getting the luggage and gear and even y'all on over there that morning? It is a mess of their own creation. It may also be wise to pack as much into the car as possible just before you move it over there.

One way or another, you're about due a break of some type or other here.
Even I wouldn't wish this much misfortune on ya'.

I can't catch a break today...

 Now that just ain't right!

Geez, what a rough start to your vacation. I'm REALLY hoping it picks up for you guys and you're having a magical day today!

Things are looking a little better this morning. In the park and waiting for rope drop.
