I didn't weigh in on this before but OH the Midway was amazing. Jeff and I went in Oct and could have stayed longer than we did for sure. I absolutely loved it. You do need the audio tour (think it was included though) and it is a fair amount of walking but it was just amazing. And let me tell you, we go to a LOT of aerospace museums and this, this was something else. Really exceeded my expectations.
Thanks! Glad to know. I'm not sure if we'll make this the plan for tomorrow, or if we might try to hit it on Tuesday morning on the way out of town. But I definitely want to try to work this in.
Seaport Village is great. There is a counter service Mexican place there that had surprisingly decent food (better in the Gaslamp area but I don't think that's what you are going for with the kids) however do NOT order a margarita there. BLEH. Perfectly drinkable beer though. Great energy and vibe for the kids, plus a nice stroll. Lots of good grub in Coronado, if you plan to head that way let me know and I have ideas but I don't recall that as being on the agenda.
I think Seaport Village might get multiple visits from us. We're going to be at the Manchester Grand Hyatt which is right next to it, so we'll probably head over and try out a few of the eateries there, I'm sure.
I completely threw mine out once on a horrible bed. What finally helped?
Foot massage. As in total acupressure, chinese reflexology kind of thing. It was insanely painful but totally helped. Bizarre.
Hmmm... interesting. I've heard of that helping others before too. I don't quite understand it, but if it works it works.
Insurance and referrals are here and there. Much as I wish they weren't boy, are they ever.

This past year, our company's insurance has been a huge PITA. I have 2 co-workers who have been fighting with the insurance company and collection agencies over some emergency services. I definitely want to make sure all i's are dotted and t's are crossed before I do anything beyond the general doctor visit.
Getting old sucks. No two ways about it.
You've got that right. I could stand to lose some weight too. That would probably help.
How absolutely magical on every level. I totally want to stay in that room!!!!!!!!!! I must make that happen at some point, just for a night. Not just AoA but in a Cars Suite!
It really was incredible! The room was fantastic and it really was a step above all other value resorts.
I'm glad your back is feeling better, but good to have a back up plan in case the injury comes back.
Yeah, I don't want it to seize up like it did when we're at Disneyland. It'd take half an hour to get across the park.
I'm sure you'll figure out something good to do on Saturday. Hopefully it won't rain, there is a small chance of rain over the weekend, but pretty slim. Looks like you'll have great weather when you get to Disney, though.
I know! I've been watching the forecast. It definitely beats the single digit and negative temps we've had here the past few days.
You got a great CM and Wow! What an upgrade! Ever since AoA opened we have wanted to stay in a Cars room, but at $300+ we just can't swing it, especially with all our DVC points.
I know. We couldn't have been happier with it! We'd priced out the Cars Suite to begin with, but just couldn't justify it. I'm so excited that it all worked out in the end.
I just love that room! It looks so cool! Did you use the pull down murphy bed/table?
We didn't. The kids both slept on the fold out sofa bed and we left the table in place for the whole week. We wanted to have a place to set things down, and since we brought fruit and cereal for breakfast, we wanted to have the table there for breakfast.
Your daughter is so cute with the Cars characters!
Thanks! I love those pictures. She looks too old though. She even has the lean on the door pose down.
It's good that you got pictures of the resort area, it looks so cool!
I wish we had taken more. DW was fighting some camera problems most of the week, and I was too much into just trying to soak it in as opposed to taking pictures.

+1
Whew... I'm glad somebody is going to keep score around here. I don't want Glenn to feel bad. But I didn't want to steal the movie quote thing...
Andy,
SCORE!!!! How great was that!? So glad you got the upgrade you wanted!
It was kind of like... Pinch me, is this real? I mean, I was tired. So I wasn't sure until I tapped my wristband and the door actually opened.
I have plans up my sleeve for equally awesome things in the resort category of our trip, but if the most unfortunate circumstance those don't work out, AoA is at the top of my list. And now that I've seen your pix, whereas Cars was off the docket, it is now back on. That or Nemo area.
I loved, loved, loved the Cars area. But then again, DS loves cars, and I always enjoy watching it with him. Of the 4 movies featured in AoA, Cars is by far our family's favorite and they really nailed it on the theming.
What a fantastic upgrade! What a great way to start out the trip!

It was! We couldn't have been happier about it!
I hope your back continues to feel better and your trip goes well!
Thanks! It seems to be improving. Hopefully no setbacks this week!
Wow, that upgrade is incredible! A week in a suite in an awesome area for no extra charge?!

Yes, please!

Another DIS-friend who is at WDW right now had a Little Mermaid reservation for their first night and got upgraded to a Cars suite too! Makes me wonder how common that is...

I only had a brief time to walk (run) through AoA in August, but I was just blown away by that whole Cars area - so very cool! I really want to spend more time exploring it sometime. Looking forward to seeing it throughout your report.
They really did a great job. I loved just wandering through the courtyard on the way to refill my mug or grab a snack. There was always something new that I'd notice.
I think this might be fairly common. We received a discount pin late last summer. I went to the TA to see if we could get anything applied. The TA got on the phone and told me that they couldn't do anything for our Little Mermaid reservation because it was sold out, but we could upgrade to a suite or moderate resort for an upcharge. We ended up sticking with Little Mermaid and no discount.
My assumption is that Little Mermaid sells out since so many people want to stay at AoA, but can't quite swallow the price of the suites. Therefore, they end up over booking that section while not quite filling the others.
Have a great time at Disneyland!
Thanks!
Holy Upgrade! NICE!!!!!!!!

You guys must have been thrilled. That is so awesome. The room looks super cool and I love all the pictures around the resort. AoA is such a cool resort. I would love to stay there sometime. Great pixie dust.
It really was an amazing upgrade. We never have that kind of luck, so we were on cloud 9. And I know DS loved staying there much more than he'd have liked being in a "princess room."
Now - back to your back. Get it - back to YOUR back!

How long have you had this back pain now? I think you may need an MRI. I know you are leaving soon. Just tuck that info away. Can you call your PCP before you leave and get a referral for one. Maybe you could have it while you are away. All you need is the disc to take home with you. Having the report would help, too. Or maybe you can set it up for when you get home.
It has been just over a week now. It is feeling better. I know the meds are a big part of that, but I'm hoping that it has improved because it is just a strain. I have spoken with the PCP again since my appointment... hence the additional prescription for painkillers. And I explained that I'd be out of town, and that's kind of why I wanted them... just in case. So I think at this point if it is still bothering me next week, I'll probably call to see if they can set me up for something when we get home.
Anyway - I hope I am just over reacting, but I am concerned about your continued back pain. No numbness or tingling anywhere, right?
I appreciate the concern. I'm concerned too!
No numbness or tingling. I had a little bit of it last weekend if I'd move the right way. Not anything that lasted long, but I'd feel a tingle kind of running down the backs of both legs if I'd try to take too big of a step or try to turn quickly. That has completely gone away though... and they told me that since I felt that sensation in both legs as opposed to just one it likely wasn't a disc, but more likely a strain.
