Going to Vegas soon, and now my daughter is going as well. If I book her a ticket with Delta, just basic fare, seat is chosen by Delta, would she be one of the first ones bumped if they needed to get folks of that flight?

Delta has a customer service plan that references passengers getting bumped. That plan says "If there are not enough volunteers, we will deny boarding according to our boarding priority rules." But from what I can tell the actual order is not published. Usually they will bump passengers on the lowest fare, have no elite status, and/or checking in the latest.

Delta is has historically been the best as far as offering big vouchers to get enough volunteers. But if I was her, I would check in right at 24 hours before the flight. Her being on a basic fare and no status would definitely make her odds of getting bumped higher than many of the other passengers who bought a higher fare or has status.

Theoretically yes, but Delta hasn't involuntarily bumped someone in years. They will pay inordinate amounts of money to not have to bump someone. A couple of other things you can do, try to assign a seat at check in, sometimes that works, and make sure she has a SkyMiles number attached to the reservation. Even being a General Member will most likely put her out of the line of fire of being bumped.

Living just outside of Atlanta, I’ve been flying Delta two or three times a year for a long time and it’s never happened to me or anyone I know.
