Some people may not like this opinion, but....

I've done it all! Oh well.........

I live in PA. Have been there lots of times, and except for once, have always stayed in the park.

Are you on their email list? or do yu have an account? you also might want to register for allears.net they have great emails! and I get the pins and thats one of the sites im registered for. That and waltdisneyworld.com!::MinnieMo

I completely understand what you are saying! We have been to Disney every year since 1998, sometimes more than once. Always on site, I have the Disney Visa, I ordered the dvd, I have saved trips on the site and have registered my email.....nothing. Zip. Zilch. ZERO. I understand that it is just the way they market, but it makes no sense to send pins over and over to people who won't use them, but never to people who will. I know that they can look at my name and see that I return every year, but what about people who haven't ever been or it has been years since the last visit and they still don't get one. Oh well, I'll just suck it up and count myself as lucky that I can get a deal now and then and that I get to go as often as I do. :goodvibes Even if I do have to stay at a value resort! :sad2:

I've been going since 1984 and this is the first year that I have received any pins.

I don't think it's fair.

I did everything recommended and got nada. I would be ticked if I had been over and over again and got nothing while others did. Why should one person have to pay more than another for the same thing. We should not have to haggle over room rates. It would make me feel like my business was less valuable to them.

I do have a Disney Visa and am using the kids eat free deal with them. But no, it's not fair. Life's not fair I know, but Disney should be.
Just a couple of things...
What is recommended is simply a recommendation by the people who post here. It's not Disney saying "if you do these things, you'll get a pin code!" So while it never hurts to follow the recommendations, it's important to take them with a grain of salt...realizing that it's not a guarantee because it's not a directive from Disney. Second, Disney is not the only one who offers a deal to some guests while not to others. This is a marketing technique used by many companies. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've heard of people getting a coupon for some place or item that I paid full price for. Sure, it would have been nice to get a discount, but that's life...and that's marketing demographics for you. Disney isn't a villain for this when they aren't the only ones doing it. It's just more noticeable to you because this is the one company you're looking to receive a discount from.

Pins are always nice...but they offer SO many public discounts that I really don't understand why people get so upset about not receiving a pin...especially when many of those pins wind up becoming public discounts anyway.

Wow.. that's a pretty significant string of no love.

Where do you live -in broad terms- in the US? Abroad?

I almost hate to say it - but consider ordering the vacation planning DVD ... it might actually help get you in the running.

Seriously.

Look at my sig... Conventions, AAA bookings, and direct reservations. Current one is a bounce back.

ONE PIN EVER - This January, and for the same offer and dates for what my current reservation is...

DVD planner requested every year, two accounts on file, two vacations saved for each account, DVR charter cardmember...

I would like to point out that 89% of the time (yes that's a verified number LOL) .. the public offers are as good or the same as the PIN offers.. just a few weeks behind.

So.. something else to keep in mind there.

I agree. I have never used a pin that I receive in the mail or email. I booked my upcoming trip using the room discount, added my park tickets, then called them and added my dining plan- which I usually dont do it I am going solo but I have some pretty expensive eats coming up and for 40 dollars a day I am more than covered.

I've done everything including ordering the DVD and NEVER gotten one.......

I agree with the OP....I have been 8 times and have never recd anything. The only emails I ever get from Disney are ones to buy stuff. I have tried everything that I have read. I have like 4 DVD's...lol!!!! What gives Disney!!!!:confused3

I wonder if Disney doesn't send pins to ppl who go often. If they've already got you scheduled to spend $$, why offer a discount to encourage you to continue your habit? You'll do it anyway....
Maybe....

That has been my experience. The more often I go, the less often I receive a pin. Last year I went for a weekend with some extended family. The ressie was under my uncle's name. During that time, I had received a few pins (nothing that wasn't available to the general public a short time later). Before this last year, the last pin I received was back in 2001 for AKL when it was in its first year. Another couple we know has only been once, about 6 or 7 years ago...they get at least one pin a year. So part of me does wonder if it's based on how often you go. If you're already going often, they don't really have a "reason" to try and convince you to come. You're already doing it. From a marketing standpoint, it makes more sense to offer an incentive to convince nonattenders to visit the parks. They already have incoming money from regular/frequent guests and to increase that money, they'd need to reach out to those who are not regular/frequent guests.

I dont think there is anything to it but a computer spitting out email addresses randomly. I got a pin for Christmas time, we went and then I got another pin for now... so we are going...
Now I prob wont get one for 10 years! LOL

I think a few pp's have it right in saying frequency matters. I have been 21 times total, once every other year since 2001. Disney Visa, registered at website, Disney Movie Club, Family Fun, vacation planning video, etc. - NEVER ONCE have I received a code. Oh, well! Still saving for the next trip! :lovestruc

So, figuring it is a Hotmail problem, I logged in to my account on the Disney website intending to switch to a different e-mail address. I discovered that nothing was checked off under the "Communications Subscriptions" tabs. I checked off "I'd like to receive occasional updates, special offers and other information from The Walt Disney Family of Companies about their products and services." Now the wait begins to see if I will finally get a code :worship:

Yep - I just checked to make sure, and mine are already checked!

maybe it's me, but I don't understand. Disney is offering basically the same thing to the Public that the PIN code people got. 40% off deluxes, 30% off mods, and 20 or 25% off value. It's right on the website. For anyone. :confused3

The PIN code extends to mid-December. The public offer only goes through August 14. I'd love to have that PIN code because I want to change my current late August stay to a split with a Poly Club stay for the last 3 nights but I can only do this if we get a discount around 40% off.

Keep in mind, however, that it's not unusual for Disney to extend offers, nor is it unusual for them to offer an identical, similar, or even better offer than than the previous. The public offer may only go through August 14th, but that doesn't mean something else won't be offered beginning August 15th. The majority of the time, pins are not much different than what is being offered to the public (and many times wind up becoming public anyway). Also, if your check in is by the end date of the offer, it will usually extend the entire trip.

I have gotten 2 codes recently - both I wont use - one was free QS dining for summer - we are going early Sept, and the other offer was for the fall, but was for a free upgrade from a base ticket to include park hopper & water parks, we never do water parks anyhow our son is too young, and and dont use park hopper either. My husband actually receives the most - but all of his were QS for summer also. We are Disney Visa holders but the kids free thing does nothing for us as our son is 2 and free anyhow. Just gotta wait and see what is offered this week.

how is it fair that some people get pin codes & others never do? How does Disney actually think this is fair? I have been there 8 or 9 times, and have never received one. Yet I know people who have received several.

Just something that is bugging me today!

No! Don't feel bad-I get mad sometimes too-but our last trip we were able to take advantage of 40% off....Disney doesn't send us anything b/c I believe they know we will go regardless of a pin/code...but now, with the way things are if they don't have good deals out there a pin/code is our only hope.

That's absolutely true. The thing is, some of us are obsessive compulsive planners and want to know NOW what kind of price we'll get. I'm confident that there will be some kind of room only offer over the same dates as free dining but if the current public offer is any indication then it may not be as big of a discount at the PIN and darn it, I'm impatient and I want the best deal possible and I want it now (please tell me you could read the whining tone that came with that; LOL).
