Some people may not like this opinion, but....

I find that bolded part to be true...

When I was going every six months like clockwork - I got maybe 1 pin I think.

My last trip was September of 2008 - and I've been flooded with them since then.

Yup, first trip was 2002 - and we didn't go again until 2007. I got lots of offers & things in that period. From 2007-now I have been twice and currently have a trip booked & nada.

Get an annual pass. The discounts are just as good most of the time as pins.

No pins here either - Canadian

- have registered my e-mail AND my husband's on WDW
- under my ID on WDW's site I have explored a few different packages
- under my husbands ID I have explored packages & saved a few offers
- under my ID on WDW I look up all kinds of information about WDW
- have completed every survey offered (online and phone)
- registered on the Disney Store
- have been receiving the FamilyFun Weekender (email) for a couple of years
- have been receiving the FamilyFun Printables (email) for a couple of years
- receive the Disney Insider via e-mail
- ordered the Disney planning DVD when we decided we should take a trip
- ordered the Adventures by Disney info package (because it looks like fun!)
- and of course about once a week I end up phoning and asking if there's a pin associated with our last name :)

Nothing.. nada... zip (sigh)

Same here..I have done everything and NEVER one single postcard or email to me or my husband. I am sick of hearing friends who don't even LIKE Disney tell me what great offers they are getting and offering them to me. AGGGGH! They don't get it when I tell them Disney won't let anyone use a pin unless it is in their name. I don't think it's fair either! I WANT A PIN CODE!!!!
:worship:

It does seem like the pin codes go most to people who go to Disney the least...I guess I can understand that from a marketing standpoint, if you're going anyway, they don't need to attract you, right? But it would really offset the feelings of unfairness if they had some sort of loyalty program for resort visitors. Seriously, like EVERY hotel does that, why not Disney??

Don't feel alone. I have been over 36 times & never gotten a pin or a code. Only a bounceback when we are there. I sign up for everything & nothing. Oh well the know they have you no matter what. But one can dream :goodvibes

Ohh, yes - I forgot to mention in my original post that we have NEVER been there - not even as kids!

Ah well... I know what you are saying though.

We have been going about once every two years since 2002 (and I had been several times prior to that). Seems like I have been getting many PIN codes the last few years. However, we have never used them because we always got a better deal staying offsite (DTD, Swan, or a condo). I wonder if I'm getting these PINs because I'm on their radar, having been several times, but haven't stayed onsite since I was a kid. I figure they're trying to encourage us to stay onsite.

I can see them only sending the codes out to some people, if only just to limit it. But what I don't understand is why they make it non-transferable. If they send a code to me, what do they care who ends up going- me or Uncle Henry or my hairdresser? As long as the room gets booked. I could see them limiting it, like only one vacation can be booked under my PIN, but I don't get why it can only be used by the person named on the PIN. Either way, I assume they have a certain number of rooms allotted for each code, so the same number of rooms are booked either way- if they are transsferable, they would get booked faster.

Haven't seen it mentioned here, but in addition to registering on the disney web site, you need to specify that you want to receive offers from them. You can register without checking that box and they won't send you anything. Very possible that everyone has checked that, but just wanted to make sure that people knew about it.

I'm thinking that maybe Disney sends the pin codes to people who travel less often to get them to come. I've also been to WDW too many times to count...am registered on the Disney websites, have ordered the planning DVD's, saved trip itineraries, and am constantly searching the website for new offers. I have never once received a pin code. I feel your pain! LOL

I don't think it's fair.

I did everything recommended and got nada. I would be ticked if I had been over and over again and got nothing while others did. Why should one person have to pay more than another for the same thing. We should not have to haggle over room rates. It would make me feel like my business was less valuable to them.

I do have a Disney Visa and am using the kids eat free deal with them. But no, it's not fair. Life's not fair I know, but Disney should be.

Sometimes you can find Disney resorts for a good deal on sites like Expedia or Travelocity. Or if you have AAA they offer room only discounts too.

I have been more than 11 times within 13 years and hubby has been there more than 30 times. My mothers boyfriend was going with us in 2005 but canceled, it would have been his FIRST time and I JUST received a pin code for him at my house (since I booked the trip everything was to my address).
Mom has been maybe 6 times and I get pin codes under her name all the time.

This year was the 1st time hubby received one in his name but we couldn't use it.
I have never received one in my name.

Life, and Disney, are not fair. I feel your pain, we go twice a year and no pin codes yet...

When you register on their website, if you put that you've never been, they will send you more offers. I recently changed my profile to put that I've never visited, and then the PINS came :confused3

I see it as a marketing tool. They can't give *everyone a pin code...or else it would be be called a general public code! We've been to WDW many times, and have never gone when I didn't have either a persomal pin, general public or Disney Visa code that I've used for booking. We go during the off seasons, so that does help in the discount getting dept.

I also have had times when I have called and there *was a pin attached to my name but I was never notified via email or postcard. So those of you who haven't gotten them that way, may have gotten them and just aren't aware.

Disney isn't trying to be fair. They're trying to target discounts to certain demographics.

If you were permitted to transfer your PIN code to someone outside the demographic you fit that made Disney decide to send it to you, they have know way of knowing whether marketing to your demographic was successful.

I have to agree about Disney targeting certain demographics, last year my MIL recieved a pin offer via snail mail, she has never been to WDW, never gone on vacation in fact, is 77 yrs old, does not own or use a computer but lives in a very affluent town, my DH a mail carrier in another affluent town tells me all the time of seeing lots of promos coming thru the mail for people on his route. :confused3

I have also been steamed about never receiving a pin code! We visit 2 or 3 times a year and have gone 15 times since 2005....but never a code for me. I have signed up for every little thing I could, and even played some disney games on the advice of friend who swears she got her code that way...no luck.

Anyway, I had a friend sign up for the website a few weeks ago, she was considering her first trip, and she got a code within 30 days! When I called to help her book her resort, the CM kindly looked me up and told me that I had a code attached to my name - one that had been issued in Oct. 2009. She suggested that I check my spam/junk folder settings. I had already done that a long time ago when I realized everyone was getting a code but me :confused3

So, figuring it is a Hotmail problem, I logged in to my account on the Disney website intending to switch to a different e-mail address. I discovered that nothing was checked off under the "Communications Subscriptions" tabs. I checked off "I'd like to receive occasional updates, special offers and other information from The Walt Disney Family of Companies about their products and services." Now the wait begins to see if I will finally get a code :worship:
