My friend called me last night to tell me that she just came back from a long weekend in Orlando and that she went to IOA. Of course, the first thing I asked her was, "Did you go to Disney???" There was a long pause, then she laughed and said, "Uhhhh, Disney is for kids." I was shocked, flabbergasted, appalled. I don't think she's ever been there, so I spent the next half-hour instructing her on all the things there is to do in Disney. Some people just don't get it.......
 :sad2:

To quote, once again, an old favorite line from these boards:

"For those that get the Disney Magic, no explaination is needed. For those that don't, no explaination will do."

Sorry your friend is so un-enlightened.

Totally OT, but where in NH are you? I'm in Weare..............P

We do go with our kids, but when they are grown and out of the house I can't wait to go with just DH. Boy are they missing out!!

I like that!

It's a shame they don't get it. I'll miss them on the bus ride back to the resort after Spectromagic;)

I also hate it when people refer to the Magic Kingdom as Disney World. One of my friends went to WDW so I asked what parks, and they answered "Just DisneyWorld". Arg!!!!!!!!!!! This infuriates me!!!!!

Steamboat...

or how about when you ask them where they went and they say oh my favorite was that Hulk Roller Coaster in Disney or Jaws at MGM those were great....

Ever since I was a little boy watching cartoons or movies the sight of the Disney Castle brought a smile to my face and a flutter to my heart. The first time I walked down Main Street USA at the age of 30 to see that castle gave me the same feeling and I'm not ashamed to say that I cried.

I feel sorry for people that don't understand that feeling. Disney encapsulates memories of childhood, of the fun & safe environment most of us (I hope) had as children. I brought me three kids over in September '03 and we're going back in February '05 because there is no better place to have a family holiday.

If I live to be 100 years old I never, ever want to lose that 'Magic' feeling.

I live in Salem. I'm pretty much across the street from the MA border. :D Hey, the sun's shining! The first time in 2 weeks. :smooth:

Btw, my friend said she did go to DTD and she loved it. She was so close, yet so far. ;)

My DH was one of those people who thought WDW was just the Magic Kingdom and for kids......

I arranged for us to spend part of our honeymoon there last month.....and I'm thrilled to say it was HIS idea to go back again next April!!

Sometimes you just have to get them there and let them see for themselves.

When I met my husband, he had never been and he thought that Epcot consisted only of Spaceship Earth and wondered how great it could be if they stuff all of the countries and all of the attractions into that small ball. Boy, did I have fun converting him! Thankfully, he "gets" the magic. It might have been grounds for divorce!

By the way, I live in Deerfield, New Hampshire. I work in Boston and was able to take the liner out of my jacket to take a nice walk around the city for lunch. Let's hope it lasts for a while!

Author unknown, but I like this one:

"There are two kinds of people in this world, those who think that Walt Disney World is one of the most amazing places on earth, and those who have never been."

Totally OT again, but are either of you NH people planning on attending the Dis meet in Boston on 6/13??.............P

WHAAAT??? Did you say a DIS meet in Boston? Oh, that sounds like so much fun!!! Is it invitation only? How cool to get to meet some people that will be there at the same time before we go to WDW.
Any other info on this get together?

30 day dance!!!! oh, I can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!

When we were on our way down to Disney, I was telling my dad where we were going (in reference to parks) I tell him, "Epcot, Magic Kingdom and one other..." He then sort of interupts and replies... "So Disney, Epcot, and something else." I told him "No, MAGIC KINGDOM" "Oh they are the same!" He replies:earseek: So then, I tell him about the difference that they have....but throughout our whole vacation Magic Kingdom was ALWAYS refferred to by "Disney"
I would always get back at him and say... "what PART or PARK of Disney are you talking about??" Oh he hated that!! lol!

HE was also the one who replied when I was talking about feeling the magic, and how incredible it is to be there, "Phh, it's an amusement park, yeah, it's Disney, but it's an amusement park!!" :earseek:

I just don't get it at all!!!

Head over to the Community Board or the Meet Board. THere is information at both places about it!! I believe the plan is to meet in Faneuil Hall near the Mickey Statues about noon on June 13th.... I'm SOOOOO disappointed I won't be able to make it!....P

I heard a father on the radio talking about his son and future daughter-in-law. He was describing them as being immature and had questions about how he should handle a wedding gift they had turned down, etc. Anyway, one of his points about how immature they were was about where they had chosen to go on their honeymoon. They were going to WDW!!! I thought that was pretty funny!! I guess to be mature you have to go to an island in the Bahamas and lie around on the beach all day. Yuck!
