while my kids & hubby were riding rides I'm too chicken to get on, I got a FP to a show (there was no need for FP but they make you get 3 so I went with it). So it was one of those that you get in the FP line then towards the entry to the actual show area the stand by n FP line meet up. & this little girl, 13 at the most gets in my face & tells me "thank you for skipping" as her & her parents try to shove their way past me! So I told her " I'm not skipping, I have a FP " & continued. Then her parents tried to call a CM to confirm I wasn't skipping & once they saw other people behind me coming down the same line I had been coming from they realized they were wrong & just continued on. You think they would have apologized & also had their daughter apologize but no! I really like to think that disneys magic brings out happiness in people but honestly on some people it just brings out their "survival of the fittest" mode!

If that was one of my kids, I would have had them by the ear SO FAST! It truly is awful the way some kids are being brought up today. Ugh! I still can't get over the new story this week about the girl who got sent home fro school for an inappropriately short skirt and so (to get back at them I guess) the mother wore it to school for the girls graduation ceremony the next day. Yeah, way to teach your child to respect authority and rules. :headache:

This is how kids like that are made:

On our trip to DL last year we saw the show "Aladdin". One of the things I love about the Disney parks is that they allow photography at the shows (as long as you don't use a flash or video lighting). The lady in front of me decided I shouldn't be taking pictures and told me to stop. I ignored her so she said she was going to tell. I told her I was following the rules but she could do what she had to do. She came back mad that they apparently weren't going to do anything and told her 2 kids (seated directly in front of me) they should feel free to stand up and block my view. Who the heck does that? What a nut.

They were rude. They could have chosen to just ask a CM what that line was for. Obviously, they are unfamiliar with the existence of FP. Not everyone is knowledgable on Disney. Diversity is awesome I suppose. :) When my relatives were coming to visit last summer my DH told his sister I was going to take them to the Magic Kingdom. Her daughter called me questioning where we were going because she couldn't find a Magic Mountain in Florida via google anywhere. Once I clarified for her she asked if we could see Spongebob because her daughter loved Spongebob (SIL grandaughter). Some people just do not know.

The problem is that many people simply can not mind their own business. One thing that bothers me is when people act like CMs. Right or wrong, you should NEVER confront another guest, yet it happens ALL THE TIME. If you see someone cutting in line, then you should NEVER say a word to the person. If you feel the absolute need, because you are one of those people, then you should tell a CM. But it's not your job to watch the line. It is the job of the CMs.

I am sure this girl, like MANY others, probably watched her mom or dad ask someone about cutting before and she figured she would play CM too. Why ANYONE would actually confront a total stranger about something as stupid as line cutting is just ridiculous to me. Now, if someone bumps into me or someone in my family, then that's different. They have just brought me into it.

ALWAYS mind ya business and let the professionals do their jobs. Then your kids won't do anything stupid like confront someone who they think are line-cutting.

Now that's funny. LOL

If someone is cutting in line in front of me then that is absolutely affecting me. I wouldn't say something rude but I would say something under the assumption that they did not realize they were cutting.

I agree, it does affect you if someone is cutting. I'd never tell them myself but I feel there's a tactful & polite way to do it or just tell a cm & let them handle it

None of this is at all surprising...any place that is public is open to stupidity.

I've been a 911 operator for almost 20 years and seriously, you have no idea the depth of stupidity and a(&^$#@ in the world. Parents calling for police officers because their 6 year old won't clean his room. People calling for an officer to come over and watch him "unfriend" someone on Facebook. People dialing 911 because their cable went out.

It's a never ending litany of stories that would make you re-think humanity as a whole...and I'm sure WDW is no exception to crazy.

<-------- 16 years here. ;) And yes, it is a never ending slew of stupidity. I seriously wonder how most of the adults I talk to in a given day, have functioned in life thus far.

I wonder if the parents that call are just trying to scare their kids into behaving (which, unfortunately, may make them afraid of police) or if they actually think that's what 911 is for.

Does it matter? LOL Both are a misuse of 911.

My DH is a police officer also, and nothing irks me more than when friends of ours say to their kid, "You'd better not do "that" again or Officer ______ is going to arrest you".

Some of each...some tell us they want an officer to scare them and some actually think parenting their kids is part of someone else's job. :confused3

I wouldn't have even bothered to explain myself - just waved and continued on my way. :stir: If they want to call a CM and embarrass themselves, let them.

It's why I don't play well with others anymore. I just prefer to stay away from people in general. :rolleyes1

Come on now. Cable going out? My internet would be gone in that deal. Definitely an emergency. :lmao:

Already planning on how to insulate my lil' dude from the "Merica" theme park goers on our first trip down. Would love to meet any DISers, just not any self-entitled mouth breathers.
