Some guest were really upset with not getting any housekeeping!

I wonder if it has changed since August... certainly I did not enjoy changing out my sheets myself (discovered Disney apparently does not have fitted sheets which makes it kind of a PITA to switch out). We did not opt out of housekeeping or anything, but I was definitely told "no" on the phone when I asked if they could change the sheets because it had been 5 days at that point.

I suppose it is like anything else these days, very inconsistent.
Will they bring you clean sheets if you need it? Luckily on our two stays this year I wasn't having one of my 40 something female night sweat months. We did have a one bedroom villa and I could have washed sheets if needed. It does seem a bit ridiculous to pay 400 plus a night and not get daily housekeeping.

They’ll bring you clean sheets everyday if you need them.

You just have to ask for them to be dropped off then strip the bed and change them yourself.

I actually asked when checking in and they told us full clean at 4 days. On Day 4, I called and asked before leaving for the park (just so we knew if we should stay out a bit longer) if we were to receive a full cleaning that day, and they said absolutely. Place was spotless when we came back, everything replenished, new towels, beds made, dishes washed, etc. Was at SSR.
Our last stay was at SSR and we did get what they said we would get. Every other day they came in with clean towels and replenished the coffee, soap and toilet paper. . Riviera was awful. They missed a couple of days and that was when I had to call twice just for toilet paper.

This thread made me smile. I'm so glad to see discussions about towels again!

The only thing consistent about Mousekeeping is its inconsistency. Our beds were made every day this past September. Other times, I've just washed the towels myself because we didn't get our 4th day refresh. Once, before we were members, we paid cash for CC and they serviced us like DVC instead of every day. It's never gone the same way twice in a row.

If we really need something, we just call. Otherwise I don't worry about it. Oddly, I actually enjoy doing laundry in our room. There's something comforting about hearing it run while we're getting ready for bed, feels like home.

I work at a big chain hotel. Our COVID policy (based on what our county mandates) is that you have to request housekeeping - informed at c/i, sign at the front desk, sign in room. We still get complaints about no housekeeping from guest who never requested it.
One of my biggest pet peeves at work is when guests leave a bad review or complain at check out for something that could have been easily fixed with a call to the fd. We can't help you if we don't know there is something wrong!

We were a cash stay DVC 7 nights twice this year and never got a full cleaning on the 4th day. We just got towels every other day and coffee. I think it's a money-saving policy and using Covid to justify it. There is really no reason why the housekeepers can't put on some PPE and clean your room.
On a day booked through DVC, seven nights just gets you trash and towel on day four. You need eight nights to get the full cleaning on day 4. Booked through Disney Reservation Center, you get the same schedule as a hotel (either every day full cleaning like regular times or every other during covid times).

I think the issue is, at Disney, they won’t fully clean the room even if you ask. At least they would not when I requested it—and to be fair their policy does say your room won’t be fully cleaned during your stay. Seems others have had better luck. I guess it is just luck of the draw.

Does seem quite a bit silly now that we know Covid can’t live on surfaces very long. If you could schedule a cleaning for a time when you are out of the room, should not really be a risk.

I read that it is part of the union and the coronavirus protections deal with Disney. It is for their safety even if you have a different take on it. Asking them to go beyond what is in place COULD pose a risk to them.

What is a flat sheet? I mean I know what it is, but what is the controversy?

It's used as a bottom sheet instead of the ones with the elastic to go around the mattress?

2 words - Hospital Corners. A flat sheet is used in place of a fitted sheet. Made correctly it will fit better and tighter than a fitted sheet.

An hour!?

3 beds, took at least 10 minutes each (had to strip down beds and pillows, replace pillowcases, lay down flat sheet and tuck in all around the bed, layer the two bedsheets around the blanket and tuck those all in, then fold up the old sheets so they didn't take up too much of the room), then repeated on another day so that we had fresh sheets twice during our long stay.

How long did you stay??

Do y'all take showers before bed? Fresh and clean in having washed off the day. OR Get into bed after having spent the day out and about?

Clearly, I flunked that class because I grew up using fitted sheets as the bottom sheet. :rotfl2:
That is all I have ever used as the bottom sheet.

But I think the bigger issue will be after Covid is long and gone, this housekeeping standard will stick
around for at least the value and moderate resorts, while their prices continue to rise.
