Some guest were really upset with not getting any housekeeping!

That is good, but maybe they should have more options. For people who want a more standard cleaning and not a light cleaning.

That is not good and completely on the hotel. Did you say something to the manager at the time? My trip was very recent and maybe they are realizing this needs to be done, or it could be hotel management issue. Either way, I know that I was specifically told, and overheard others told, to just leave the trash outside our rooms and they were all picked up quickly.

I think it's the difference between the DVC and regular resort procedures. DVC is still doing the daily security check with trash removal, so Poly probably doesn't send anyone overnight collecting trash from the hallways in the longhouses (because ppl shouldn't put trash there b/c it's collected from inside the rooms each day.) (I have stayed in Riviera, Saratoga, and Poly during COVID and they all have continued the daily trash removal/security checks.) On the other hand, the non-DVC resorts are doing it differently, hence the more regular hallway trash pickups.

Maybe. I would like to think that any hotel would make the rounds on a regular basis to pick up any garbage left in the hallway. They can afford to have someone go the daily room checks, I can't see why they can't send someone around every few hours to clear the hallways.

Anyone else use to take the gift card and just keep the room picked up yourself? I always liked to do that.

Me. I usually travel solo or with my daughters and we are not messy. We don't need anyone to come into the room to pick up on a daily basis and whatever small amount of trash we have, we will take it with us and put it in the garbage can on the way out. I will call and ask for fresh towels every few days. We have for years been keeping the DND sign up in hotels so that housekeeping would not come in. I find it kind of creepy to have someone in our room when we are not there touching things. The gift card was a bonus for us.

We only stayed two nights so not having housekeeping wasn't a huge deal to me but it was to some peole in the laundry room at AoA when I was in there. A few people were in there really ranting about paying $400 a night and not getting any type of housekeeping. Boy they were mad. They said they were there for about a week. I wasn't expecting any major housekeeping, but I will admit that I didn't even get our trash changed out. I did call and get more towels and such delivered.

I feel as though Disney is really pushing the envelope as far as they can, especially with the "lower" end resorts such as AoA and Pop. I mean, are guest at the Grand getting daily housekeeping or not? Contemporary?
We stayed last August at CBR for a week and all you have to do is call the front desk and they'll take your trash, bring fresh towels, etc. The polices are the same at all the resorts. If not having daily housekeeping wound them up that much, they're likely a fun bunch. Also, when we checked in on the app, it actually asked if you wanted housekeeping or not. It was also clear that there is no bed making regardless of length of stay but you could request new sheets for longer stays. I get not having the daily amenities could be an issue if you make huge messes but it's a hotel, how gross can people be? Also, the policies are pretty clear, if people don't like it, they can go elsewhere.

I've never had the option to get a gift card by declining housekeeping! We usually need it though with 3 boys. :stitch2:

We always eat a quick breakfast like muffins/pastries in the room before heading out to the parks which always leads to crumbs so if they don't come into the room to vacuum every day, will they let you borrow one to do it yourself?
