Some basic points rental questions

We're looking at scheduling a stay for late Sept. 2016, most likely a Tuesday arrival and Sunday departure, preferably the last week in Sept, but next to last would work. First choice is BCV, second is BWV, third is forget DVC and go CSR.

If we rent at all, it will be through one of the well-known brokers.

1. Is the 11 month rule based on the month or day of the month?
   • This matters, because if it's based on the month, we can start ordering Oct. 1. But if it's based on the day, so we have to wait till Oct. 27, 2015 to try for Sep 27, 2016, and if nothing's available, we've lost a week of trying for Sep. 20.
   • Or is trying to grab that sort of rental at those resorts, that time of year so difficult as to be nearly hopeless?
2. Is the basic process:
   • Get confirmed booking (and make all required payments)
   • Get tickets (5 day park hoppers with water park)
   • Link confirmation number and ticket number to MDE account. Unsure when the bands figure in.
   • At the 180 day mark, make ADRs
   • At the 60 day mark, make FP+ reservations
   • Show up at and have fun
   • Any missing milestone dates?
3. (META)Is there a reason there's no separate DVC Rental forum? I sometimes feel like I'm intruding on the hospitality of the DVC owners by posting in this forum.

EDIT: We're looking for Studio units, if that matters, just two of us.

Owners of a resort can book starting 11 months from date of arrival, meaning October 27, 2015 in your example.. If you actually book 11 months out for that time of year, both BCV and BWV should be available. Your basic process and its order of events is correct. Magic Bands will be sent for a trip listed in your MDE account about 4 weeks before you go. Your MDE account will provide a date by which you need to personalize the MB's (pick a color and name you want on it) and they get sent the day after that given date. An additonal date is that if you want to use Magical Express (Disney's bus from the airport), the DVC owner needs to do that preferably by about a month before you go so you get the necessary tags in time. Also, if you want the Dining Plan it needs to be purchased through the DVC Member by 48 hours or more before date of arrival.

There is a DVC rent/trade forum on these boards and it is listed with the other DVC forums. However, you have to be signed onto the DIS site to see the link and get into it. In any event, more general timing and process questions like the ones you asked are fine in the forum you chose.

I looked at the rent/trade forum, but it looks as though it's strictly for posting offers and available points, not questions. Perhaps it's just overloaded with such posts, hiding the Q&A beyond the first page.

There are sticky threads at the top of the page giving you information on renting points. But if your question isn't answered there, you ask it here. You cannot post a request for a reservation, only respond to an owner's offer to rent points.

But for two studios at an Epcot resort for F&W, you will want to rent it at 11 months out. If you wait too long, you might miss out.
