I just came back last week from my first solo trip to the World. Wow, what a wonderful experiance! Due to a family illness, I added a data package to my blackberry phone so I could keep in contact with home. I ended up posting on Facebook and soon realized that I wasn't totally alone...all of my friends started following me and I couldn't belive how closely they followed my posts. When I came home I was surprised at how many people came up to me and told me how much they enjoyed reading my posts!
Some of my favourite experiances:
- strangley enough...dining alone! It gave me time to process my day and remember all of the fun things I was doing. It also gave me a chance to plan the rest of my day/next day. I also had a chance to chat with a few neighbouring tables. I actually convinced a couple from NJ to try poutine at Le Cellier...they told me they liked it
- being able to make short notice plans...If I woke up early and wanted to I went to a park at opening...if I was tired and wanted to sleep in, I did
- not waisting time by trying to decide what everyone wants to do. I didn't have to humour anyone else's whims and didn't have to go on any rides I didn't want to...I rode Pirates and Big Thunder many times over and no one rolled their eyes
- I had popcorn for breakfast and no one told me I really should have something better
- standing in a line and having the castmember asking for a party of one and being able to skip the line
- touring the resorts and spending time relaxing in the lobbys and being able to spend as much time there as I wanted to.
- watching the Wishes fireworks from the Poly beach
- shopping as much or as little as I wanted
- strolling the world showcase with no conversation...being able to listen to the music being played at the different pavillions...wow, they play a lot of Gorden Lighfoot at the Canadian pavilion!
- listening to other's conversations...lots of chuckles!
- eating at the places
I wanted to eat!
- stopping to take pictures whenever I wanted and not slowing down the rest of the group!
I would encourage anyone who is sitting on the fence about going solo to give it a try!
