Solo Deluxe Dining, Apr 30 - May 7, w/pics!

Another YUM! from me! We have lunch ressies at CRT and I hope to have that chocolate buckle! That appetizer plate looked good too.

Were you able to walk around and take pictures through the windows? Was it terribly loud in there?

I like how you take pictures of the CMs too---very funny!

Hi Marsha - been waiting for you to get to May 6th so I can see if you mention the DIS Meet! ROFL!!!! We didn't eat at the meet, what a bummer.

I have been contemplating a solo trip for a while. How awkwad is it to eat by yourself, though, at a TS location? I am enjoying your reviews, however.

Marcia, I have just finished all of your reviews. Nearly everything you had sounds yummy but I have to say that you look like such a slip of a thing, I'm surprised you even manage all of that food :rotfl:

I am off now to revisit the menus for Flying Fish - between your reviews and TigerKat's, I reckon I just have to pay that place a visit :)

How cool! I'm so glad you got to eat in the castle!! It is so pretty in there and I can see how you would say that you were not for the food but for the atmosphere!
Thanks for showing us all your pictures! That dessert looks SO good!!!
Looking forward to more!!

thanks it really was awesome :thumbsup2

Spot on review of CRT, Marcia! It's good - but not worth the price, IMO. After going here every year for the past 4 years, I've told my girls were done!

I had that exact same lunch in November. You're right - the sandwich is fine; just a sandwich. But I do LOVE that chicken from the appetizer plate. My whole family was fighting over the pieces. I wish they'd make a meal out of that!

yeah seriously, i totally agree about that chicken!

Great review! The girls want a princess meal and after checking the menus we agreed 1900 was the best for us! It was a toss between supper there or breakfast in Norway!!

good idea, i've never done 1900, but someday i will

OMG, is the chocolate cream cheese buckle at lunch again now?????!!!! Oh, I hope it stays!! On the menus I saw it was only at dinner with a blueberry buckle for lunch. I REALLY want to try this, sounds sooooo good, and DD and I are planning on a CRT lunch next May!

i know, the menus online still say blueberry. no idea how often they change it though

Thanks for sharing!!! I have been looking for lobster pics at Narcoosee's forever!! The castle also looks fantastic!! Can't wait to be there for breakfast in July!!! Glad I'm not the only 20-something who still gets her picture taken with the princesses:hyper:

you will have such a great time! definitely nothing wrong with us 20-somethings enjoying ourselves :goodvibes

that photo of the chocolate cream cheese buckle looks great - dont' remember seeing a good picture of it before!

thanks, it really was good!

I have just read all your reviews this afternoon and loved them, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more.

Laur's princess:

you're welcome! thanks for joining us

Great update and it's fantastic you we able to get a walk in at CRT.

thanks, i really was lucky

Marsha,

I must say I've read through so many threads of reviews with pictures and hands down your solo dining experience is the best ever. EVER!!! Your photos are perfect, your commentary precious and your honesty appreciated. This is shaping up to be like a soap opera, with installments every other day, and I'm so afraid we're coming to the end and I'll have to wait for next season. The important thing is you had a great time and it shows.

EVER!!!

oh my goodness, thank you so much! that is so sweet, i'm glad you're enjoying!

Great reviews, thanks for posting!

you're welcome :)

i hope you get the chocolate buckle too! and no, i didn't walk around, but i think i could have if i wanted to. and no, i didn't really notice it being loud. it was a very pleasant atmosphere.

Still enjoying your reviews and pics......keep it coming!

thanks :thumbsup2

How great you got into CRT, it's obviously worth perservering :thumbsup2

most definitely!

Hi Marsha - been waiting for you to get to May 6th so I can see if you mention the DIS Meet! ROFL!!!! We didn't eat at the meet, what a bummer.

well, i had a drink...so that's kinda food :rotfl: . it'll definitely make it into my regular trip report though!

I have been contemplating a solo trip for a while. How awkwad is it to eat by yourself, though, at a TS location? I am enjoying your reviews, however.

i would highly recommend it. i didn't find it that awkward to eat alone. i guess i've gotten pretty used to it by now though. at first, i'm sure it was more awkward, but i either update my notes or look through my pictures, or just enjoy the atmosphere!

haha, like i've said before, i didn't manage to eat all of it! many bites here and there for sure! definitely give flying fish a try!

i know you love FF, me too :thumbsup2

Biergarten, dinner, 05.06.08

I got my dinner ressie earlier in the day, during my lunch at CRT actually. It pays to be a solo traveler at places like Biergarten and Teppan Edo :thumbsup2 . I was seated with a party of 3 and a party of 4. The party of 4 and I were seated at the same time, I think they were from France. Everyone was very nice. Here's the view from my table
dis2008-05657.jpg

On my first plate, I got some pretzel bread, salad, and soup
dis2008-05658.jpg

Salad is salad. The potato soup was really good though. I wasn't such a fan of the pretzel bread though, it seemed a bit stale. So I didn't write it off, just decided I'd have to try a different piece.

While I was working on my first plate, the band came on to play

Oh yes, I had heard about some sort of apple beverage, but my waitress told me they only had beer or wine. So I went with an apple flavored wine. Good stuff, and I don't normally drink wine.

Then I went up to get another plate
dis2008-05662.jpg

Here we have more pretzel bread, potatoes, pork w/apple sauce, spaetzl, mac & cheese, and salmon. This time the pretzel bread was much fresher. So that was good. The potatoes were okay, I just had a bite, as they were nothing too exciting. I loved the pork with apple sauce. That's how my mom always served it, so I love pork with apple sauce :thumbsup2 . The spaetzl was not what I was expecting. My German grandmother made it different. Who knows, I just had a bite. I enjoyed the mac and cheese, but that's always a given. The salmon was really good too. And as I've said before, I'm not a huge fan of salmon.

More of the band

And more of the food!
dis2008-05664.jpg

More potato soup (yum!), multigrain bread, some sausages or something, some sort of chutney, more pork w/apple sauce (double yum!), and some potato thingy. I did not like the sausages or the potato thingy.

Then it was time for dessert! I decided to grab one of everything, and take a bite of each. Good option at a buffet :thumbsup2
dis2008-05665.jpg

Apple strudel w/vanilla sauce, vanilla pudding, some cookie, black forest cake, and cheesecake. The apple strudel was okay, but the vanilla sauce was pretty runny, as you can see. The pudding was nice. The cookie was nice and crunchy. The black forest cake was chocolate, and you can't go wrong with chocolate! And the cheesecake was wonderful! Reminded me of my German grandmother's when she was alive. Good stuff. And I was stuffed!

This dinner was just fine, not my favorite, but okay. The desserts stole the show for sure. And then I had a place to be... just for TaraPA, I had some DISers to meet in Japan! So I grabbed an Italian Margarita (very good btw!), and headed over to the meet!

The end!

next up: Crystal Palace lunch

you certainly tried a "little bit" of everything at biergarten! - sounded like you had a wonderful time there!

C'mon Marcia - don't leave me hanging! Who is everybody in the picture from the Dis meet? I love to be able to put faces with names.

Seems you got to try a little bit of everything at Biergarten. I just can't find anything I REALLY like at this place (well, except the beer). We've given it two tries now and I think it will be a while before we go back.

Marsh I loved Biergarten!! The pork was the best I ever had !! I love brats so loved the sausage too.The german choc . cake was delish!!

Yum! Just reading your report has made me hungry!!! We're planning our ADR's for our upcoming trip and have several of the restaurants that you ate at on our list, so I was excited to see your pics and read your reviews! Thanks so much for sharing!!

Biergarten sounds pretty yummy - this might be a good option for us on our next trip as we will be a party of 9 (not many places cater particularly well or are easy to get into with 9 people).

Great review of Biergarten, there are 54 of us (DISer's and their families) meeting there in August and I can't wait!

It looks like it was a fab meet too :thumbsup2

sorry for the delay! i know you guys want to know who's who!
