Solo Deluxe Dining, Apr 30 - May 7, w/pics!

I have been lurking for awhile and I just wanted to comment on your FF's bartender. She was ours the night that we went in for drinks. She was so much fun to talk to and had wonderful suggestions for drinks.

Also I wanted to ask how was the view of Illuminations from your seat. I did not know you could see it from Tokyo Dining.

Wow great updates. I really like the food at flying fish and may need to try the scallop dish next time, for some reason I love the combination of scallops and pea puree, which would be similar to the risotto.

Tokyo dining looks fab and I'm sorry I don't have an ADR for our next trip. My DH is vegetarian, did you happen to notice if there were many vegetarian options on the menu there?

Wow, I've been gone for a few days and just caught up on your installments! What great meals!
I'm so happy for you that you got such a wonderful seat to watch illuminations by! And Wow to one of the CM's taking you on Toy Story Mania. Too cool!!!
Looking forward to more!

Ok I'm so hooked on your report! Great photos. I can't imagine eating all that food! I am doing my first solo time this August and I'm only doing one sit down meal (OOP) but I am keeping the 50's bar area and FF bar as possible impromptu places depending on my mood. Can't wait for more!

How fantastic that you got to ride Toy Story!

Your last few reviews have all sounded lovely, what a great view you had at Tokyo dining :thumbsup2

Ah, 50's PTC. I have such a love in my heart for this place. Me and my mom ate here 3, yes 3, times when we did our first onsite trip last August. And it was all because of our waiter. I've been back at least 5 times since, and he hasn't been there any other time! It's getting frustrating, as I don't think anyone can live up to his standards. Anyway, that's just so that you know I have very high expectations for this place.

Love the reviews. 50s PT is one of our favorites too. We are going there for our trip in Nov/Dec. Just curious, who is the waiter? Uncle Tim?? (He is our favorite, he put me SIL in the corner for not keeping her elbows off the table.)

Every time I see more pics of Tokyo Dining I try and figure a way to sneak it in to my next trip, it looks SOOOOO GOOD!!!!!

i definitely recommend it :thumbsup2

Great updates!!!

Can't wait to hear how you made out at CRT!:)

thanks!

Tokyo Dining looks great. We will have to try it next trip. ;)

please do :)

Tempura, sushi & Illuminations! Sounds like a fantastic evening! :goodvibes

And they weren't kidding about the "green" part in that iced tea. That was some very green green tea!

seriously, i thought it was awesome!

all the food at both tutto and tokyo look wonderful - thanks!

you're welcome :goodvibes

This looks awesome! It is interesting to see that they left the shell on the shrimp. I think that I have only encountered that in Europe.

it made for a bit of a mess, but they were delish

Did you know I had no idea Tokyo Dining existed? I thought Teppen Edo was the only place in Japan to eat TS. I wasn't really into eating at a cooking table with strangers on my upcoming solo trip but I'd be all over Tokyo Dining! Oh goodness now I may need to mess with my ADRs again!

Great reviews and pictures! Yummy!

Allyson

that's so funny that you didn't know about tokyo dining! definitely give it a try

Looked wonderful Marsh!!

thanks!

Shell on shrimp is the classic way to serve New Orleans style BBQ shrimp!:goodvibes

cool, good to know!

the view of Illuminations was great. there were people lined up outside to watch from there, but the window was above that, so no one in the way. i thought it was perfect!

Wow great updates. I really like the food at flying fish and may need to try the scallop dish next time, for some reason I love the combination of scallops and pea puree, which would be similar to the risotto.

hmm, i don't remember what veggie options they had. probably a veggie tempura type dish, and also vegetarian sushi. probably wouldn't work well with the dining plan, but oop i'm sure it could be done.

I can't wait to try Tokyo Dining later this year.

hope you love it as much as i did!

Your reviews keep getting better and better - can't wait for the rest!

thank you :)

actually, it's cousin richard. i've never had cousin tim, maybe i'll ask for him next time if richard isn't there!

Thanks again Marcia for some great reviews! I must admit, I have dinner ressies for Tokyo Dining and I hope to have the exact same night as you! The food looked great and is just making my mouth water.

Can't wait to hear about your CRT experience! You truly seemed to have magical luck on this trip.....couldn't have happened to a better gal!

Cinderella's Royal Table, lunch, 05.06.08

Originally, my plan was LTT for lunch, and Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner. But for some reason, I decided that I needed to eat in the Castle. So around 11:30, I was in Fantasyland, and I decided to go on over and give it a shot. I was told no luck, nothing was available, but to try back in about half an hour, as they do seatings every half hour, and someone might not show up.

So I was a little bummed, but I did as I was instructed. I showed up again at 11:55pm, and was told to hang around and wait, just in case. Well, I overheard the head of seating person say something like, we're going to have 2 four tops open. I was like, me me me!!! The lady taking names was like, calm yourself child, be patient. But I was so worried that they had forgotten about me. So sorry name taking lady for being excited!

Anyway, I was given a ticket in at 12:05!!! I was so thrilled! I immediately called up Disney Dining and cancelled LTT and Yachtsman (since it was 2TS, I needed a 1TS for dinner now), and before I knew it, I was on line to see Cinderella! I finally made it up to her and was seated at 12:40. This lunch is sure time consuming!

I was seated very far in the back, but I couldn't care less, I was there! The view from my table.

My waitress came over to take my drink order, I probably had an iced tea. And before I knew it, she placed the appetizer platter in front of me
dis2008-05631.jpg

There was chicken w/some pesto or something on it, grapes, a mini salad, some meats and cheeses. The chicken was really good, and I love grapes and salad. I noticed that they brought the same size appetizer plate for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids though, so you know this wasn't meant for one!

For my meal, I chose the Focaccia Sandwich - ham, turkey, and muenster cheese piled high on focaccia bread, with dijonaise complimented with house-made sweet potato chips. I was told I could have my choice of salad or chips, and I picked salad...but she didn't hear me
dis2008-05632.jpg

See, they brought me chips. But I made mention of that, and they told me to keep the chips, that I should try them, but they'd bring me a salad too. Nice.
dis2008-05633.jpg

The sandwich was fine. Nothing exciting, just a sandwich. And I did end up enjoying the chips and eating a few of them. Salad was standard greens. But I wasn't here for food, I was here for the atmosphere and the princesses! So here they come!

First up was Snow White. I told her to say "Hi" to Bashful for me, of course

Next up was Belle

then I got a pic with my food runner, yeah, not my waitress, but this guy took most of my pics for me! He was the one to bring me the salad too, he was really nice!

Then Jasmine came by

And finally, Princess Aurora
dis2008-05638.jpg

Not too much interaction here, but what can I expect as an adult in her mid-twenties :rolleyes1 .

After the Princesses came through, the dessert was brought out. I had my choice of the standard, or I could get sorbet with berries. I went with the standard buckle. It was a chocolate cream cheese with chocolate ice cream.
dis2008-05639.jpg

This was sooooo good! Nice and chocolatey and cream cheesy, I'm a sucker for both of those, so I was bound to enjoy this.

Overall, the meal itself was fine, and it was a good experience. I'm glad I did it, but I don't think it's a very good value for the Dining Plan. But for the experience, yes, then it's worth it.

up next: dinner @Biergarten

How cool! I'm so glad you got to eat in the castle!! It is so pretty in there and I can see how you would say that you were not for the food but for the atmosphere!
Thanks for showing us all your pictures! That dessert looks SO good!!!
Looking forward to more!!

Spot on review of CRT, Marcia! It's good - but not worth the price, IMO. After going here every year for the past 4 years, I've told my girls were done!

I had that exact same lunch in November. You're right - the sandwich is fine; just a sandwich. But I do LOVE that chicken from the appetizer plate. My whole family was fighting over the pieces. I wish they'd make a meal out of that!

Great review! The girls want a princess meal and after checking the menus we agreed 1900 was the best for us! It was a toss between supper there or breakfast in Norway!!

OMG, is the chocolate cream cheese buckle at lunch again now?????!!!! Oh, I hope it stays!! On the menus I saw it was only at dinner with a blueberry buckle for lunch. I REALLY want to try this, sounds sooooo good, and DD and I are planning on a CRT lunch next May!

Thanks for sharing!!! I have been looking for lobster pics at Narcoosee's forever!! The castle also looks fantastic!! Can't wait to be there for breakfast in July!!! Glad I'm not the only 20-something who still gets her picture taken with the princesses:hyper:

that photo of the chocolate cream cheese buckle looks great - dont' remember seeing a good picture of it before!

I have just read all your reviews this afternoon and loved them, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more.

Laur's princess:

Marsha,

I must say I've read through so many threads of reviews with pictures and hands down your solo dining experience is the best ever. EVER!!! Your photos are perfect, your commentary precious and your honesty appreciated. This is shaping up to be like a soap opera, with installments every other day, and I'm so afraid we're coming to the end and I'll have to wait for next season. The important thing is you had a great time and it shows.

EVER!!!
