Solo Deluxe Dining, Apr 30 - May 7, w/pics!

Great review Marsh, I am not sure about the pea risotto but the scallops looked awesomw as did the crab cake and the strawbery desserts!! How cool you got to ride Toy Story !!

Flying Fish bar looks like a GREAT place to eat solo. :thumbsup2 I'm going to have to see if I can work that into my plans for Oct!!

Question on character meals and apologies if you've answered it already... how to the pictures work? Did you have to ask someone to take pictures for you or do the "handlers handle it"? I'm staying at BC and thinking about trying the Cape May buffet...

Wow! So one of the CM's took you on Toy Story Mania? That must have been awesome!

You're description of Flying Fish is great! I am going to have to add it to my list for one of my up-coming trips.

yup, the cm took me in! it was great! and i'm glad you're thinking of adding FF, i really liked it!

Yummy!! I LOVE 50s PRIME TIME!! Yes, the fried cheese is my fav. too!! I need to try the PB&J shake next time I go!:hyper:

I love your review of Flying Fish....and I am jealous too! Scallops AND Toy Story Mania???!!! Wow, that is SO COOL! I live near DL and waiting patiently for ours to start doing openings!

Keep up the GREAT reviews!:worship:

yup, FF scallops and TSM...twas awesome!

Congrats on getting on Toy Story Mania! DD and I are heading there first thing at Rope Drop when we go in June.

Regarding FF: got to say, that scallop dish DID NOT look appealing to me! I love scallops but that pea risotto would have to go!:scared:

hehe, i know, the risotto looked a little green, but believe me, it was good, but i do like peas

that crab cake at flying fish looks good!

mmm, and it was

Great to read another glowing review of FF!

no problem :goodvibes

MMMMMMMMM...nothing better than Scallops cooked the way they are supposed to be cooked. You ordered exactly what I'm planning on ordering in July.

awesome, enjoy it!

You are the rah rah girl for FF!

Now I have to get DH to eat there, maybe in Oct?

definitely give it a try!

I want to try that strawberry dessert, it looks delicious.

it really was good, i just wish i could have finished it

most def a good place to go solo! as for character meals, no apologies necessary! i either had my waiter/waitress, or the handler, or somebody sitting at a table next to me snap the pics. the characters were great at "asking" my neighbors to help out when my waiters weren't around!

and i'm about to work on the tutto review, so it will be up tonight

Tutto Italia, lunch, 05.05.08

Since I had such a late night the night before at MK EMH, I took my time getting ready in the morning. I grabbed a yogurt parfait from the Pop Food Court when I picked up my morning coffee.

dis2008-05558.jpg

It was okay. The fruit part was a little too sweet for me, I'd have preferred fresh fruit, but oh well, it held me over like I needed.

Originally, my ADR was for 12:30 at Tutto Italia, but since I had the parfait, I decided to stop by Guest Relations to see if there was anything a little later for me. No problem whatsoever! I got a 1:30pm ADR :thumbsup2

On my way over to lunch, I stopped off in Mexico to grab a Margarita. I got the sour apple, it's my favorite of the flavors they offer.
dis2008-05572.jpg

I only finished about half of it on my walk, checked into Tutto Italia a few minutes early, and was seated right away, with half a Margarita left to have with my lunch. Sweet.

First came the bread with olive oil to dip it in. I love it when they give you olive oil instead of butter at Italian places. I added the pepper that you see in it. It came out plain.
dis2008-05573.jpg

While I was deciding what to eat, I took some pics from my table.

It didn't seem all that busy in there.

My waitress told me that they had just changed the menu, and she suggested that I try the fried calamari, if it was something I liked. So yes, I like fried calamari, so that's what I ordered.
dis2008-05576.jpg

They were so good! Nicely lightly battered, crispy, not chewy at all. But as I was getting used to by now, the portion size was huge, and I barely made a dent. Needed to leave room for everything else to come!

For my main meal, I ordered something else that was new, and isn't on allears menu. It was Salmon, Shrimp, and another fish that I don't remember. It was served over grilled vegetables.
dis2008-05577.jpg

dis2008-05578.jpg

This was delicious. All of it was cooked perfectly. Now, salmon isn't a favorite of mine, but I finished all of this one. Along with the other fish and the shrimp. Two thumbs up from me :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

And dessert was still to come! I ordered the Profiteroles.
dis2008-05579.jpg

Vanilla ice cream filled pastries, covered with hot fudge sauce. And they gave me the container of fudge sauce on the side too. Oh these were good. The pastry was nice and light, combined with the cold ice cream and hot fudge, it all went together very well.

Now here, they wouldn't let me have coffee. So that was a bummer. But oh well, I survived with my soda.

This place is a great value if you're on the DxDDP (or even the regular DDP), but the prices are a bit steep if you're paying OOP. It is really good though. And I'll be returning with my family in August, and paying OOP.

next up: dinner @ Tokyo Dining

Tutto Italia looks good! :thumbsup2 I'm excited to try it on our next trip. Did the server indicate what kind of menu changes were taking place?

Just to comment that I'm really enjoying your reviews and pictures!

I'll be eating at Flying Fish for the first time on my next trip and I'm debating between the potato wrapped fish or those scallops (if either or both are on the menu by then!), but those scallops you had look so good I might be swayed that way. I had no idea scallops were cooked anyway but.... done. :confused3

I'd rely on the chef's expertise on that one too!

I'm going to leave that picture of the Profiteroles at Tutto up on my screen to show DH in case I think I'll have any problems convincing him to eat there! :goodvibes I hope they'll still be on the menu in October!

Looking forward to the rest of your report, thanks again!

she didn't really say, just that it had just changed. so the one on allears is not up to date. i wish i had taken a pic of the menu, that would have been helpful. i'm sorry i didn't!

thanks! i remember reading about the potato wrapped fish at FF too...but went with the scallops anyway, and glad i did! i'm sure the other dish is fab, maybe i'll have to plan another trip back to try it! and definitely show him those profiteroles!

Great Reviews Marcia!!
BTW I love traveling solo, it's the only time I get my way:rotfl:

thank you! it is awesome, isn't it! :thumbsup2

Tokyo Dining, dinner, 05.05.08

I planned this ADR at Tokyo Dining to coincide with Illuminations. This would be my first time seeing Illuminations this trip, but I was hoping it wouldn't be the last. So my ADR was for 8:20pm. I arrived a bit early, and requested a window seat. They told me it would probably be a while, but I was seated within 5 minutes, at 8:05, at the center window seat! Here's the lovely view (sorry for the glare)

dis2008-05597.jpg

I was so excited! I had planned on waiting, so it was a nice surprise to be seated so quickly, and in such a great spot! For my drink, I ordered the iced green tea, which was a nice change from soda/regular iced tea.
dis2008-05598.jpg

I had my choice of all of the appetizers on the menu, but I decided to go with a simple salad. I got the asian style dressing on the side. It was a nice light way to start the evening.
dis2008-05599.jpg

I also figured that I may as well order a cocktail as well. The Tokyo Sunset sounded good, except that I hate Malibu, so I asked if I could sub regular rum. Well, my waitress told me they didn't even have regular rum. But she did tell me I could do Vodka instead, so I went for that. And it was goooood.
dis2008-05600.jpg

For my main meal, I had my choice of everything on the menu, plus the 2 highest priced sushi platters. But I decided to go with a Tempura and Sushi Combo dish. It was the one with shrimp, scallops, and vegetables tempura, and a few pieces of sushi.

This meal was so good! It had 3 scallops, 2 shrimp, and some veggies as the tempura. And then tuna, salmon, and some white fish sushi. I loved it! I'm so glad I decided to go here, because I love sushi, and no one else in my family will go near it.

For dessert, I ordered the Fruit Tart
dis2008-05606.jpg

dis2008-05607.jpg

All the waiters came over to my table and sang "Happy Birthday" to me, it was so cute! And my waitress gave me a Mickey Head Pin done as the Japanese flag. That was so sweet, I put it right on my bag, as I don't have a pin lanyard. Anyway, the tart was okay, it was a few slices of pear I think, with a custard, in a pastry. I ate the fruit and custard part, wasn't a fan of the pastry part.

Oh yeah, and at some point, when it was time for Illuminations, they dimmed the lights and piped in the music! It was an awesome view! I was so very pleased with the whole experience of this dinner. I will definitely be back, but not with my family, as it's not their cup of tea.

next up: impromptu CRT lunch!

Every time I see more pics of Tokyo Dining I try and figure a way to sneak it in to my next trip, it looks SOOOOO GOOD!!!!!

Tempura, sushi & Illuminations! Sounds like a fantastic evening! :goodvibes

And they weren't kidding about the "green" part in that iced tea. That was some very green green tea!

This looks awesome! It is interesting to see that they left the shell on the shrimp. I think that I have only encountered that in Europe.

Did you know I had no idea Tokyo Dining existed? I thought Teppen Edo was the only place in Japan to eat TS. I wasn't really into eating at a cooking table with strangers on my upcoming solo trip but I'd be all over Tokyo Dining! Oh goodness now I may need to mess with my ADRs again!

Great reviews and pictures! Yummy!
