Has anyone ever used outdoor solar lights for the holiday season. My town is looking to light up for Christmas and we're running into power issues. If anyone has used these, please let me know how they worked out. Thanks. :)

I saw some advertised and they were something like $27/string. The extra electricity they take each year doesn't cost us that much so I didn't pursue them any further. Could your town put them on a generator of some sort?

Thanks Golfgal! I never thought of a generator. Do they make quiet ones? Forgive me for silly questions. I'm obviously more into the decorative aspects...learning about power though! :rotfl:

No clue if they make quiet ones. I know our old town had a Christmas Tree walk each year where businesses and organizations would decorate trees and have them on display in a town park. They rigged up some power boards with outlets, etc for all the trees. I guess I don't know what they used for power for everything though. I know the streetlights in downtown were set up to accommodate Christmas lights somehow. I am assuming you are on some kind of committee for this has anyone spoken with the power company to see if they have ideas?

Another option is the new LED Christmas lights. They use far less power and the cost is coming down.

Yep, I'm on Park & Rec. Power company is the next step. We'll see how much it will cost for temporary service. Thanks again.
