What are some upsell rates you were quoted?

In July 2003, when SOG was still closed for rehab, we stayed at POR for a $99 upsell rate.

we were moved to Contemporary in Dec 2002 for the same price. They gave us the price we would have paid if SOG was open. I've never stayed overflow so I can't help with those rates. They did have a military special last fall, something like 30% off a stay of 1-3 days, 40% off for 4 or more days.

We've had the same at the contemporary - about $120/night in 2002 also. Also GF for $199/nt in 2000, BC for $120/nt in 1995. It depends on what they have, and they told me that if they have something you want, book it. The cancellations don't go back into their inventory, rather they go back to Disney. It can sometimes be a substantial savings for us military families!

How do you get the upsell rates? I don't know if it counts but last Aug we stayed at AKL for $130 a night but booked through the base TA. I was hoping for the same type of thing for my trip in June.

Call SOG and ask what their upsell rates are for the Disney hotels. We saved $50 per night. I was a pain, cause I had a whole list that I asked for the rates to. Hey, if we could afford WL or AKL we were gonna stay there, but with POR for $99 in July, it was the best value for us at the time.

Are you talking about SOG "overflow" rates at Disney resorts? Those are the rates they can offer to a guest after SOG is fully booked for that guest's time frame. It used to be fairly easy to get overflow. But now that SOG has expanded and has more rooms available, it seems they are never 'fully' booked very often anymore. Hence, no overflow rates :(

SOG puts you on a waiting list now if the time frame you want is booked. It is very rare not to get in anymore. They will only offer overflow rates if nothing is available and nothing opens up.

I called for overflow rates about a week ago, because some of our nights at the end of march were booked. I was trying to book 3/25 - 4/1. They only had 3/25- 3/28 available. I called requesting overflow rates. They confirmed that my nights (as a whole) were booked and checked many resorts for me, both mods and deluxes.
The best they could do on a mod was $140 plus tax at PORS. I did better on my own with a FL resident rate of $119 from Disney for CSR, then called today to get the AP rate of $109 plus tax applied.

Same with us - they were booked for our April trip and the overflow rates were $159 plus tax for the moderates - and you weren't eligble for the dining plan - so we booked with AAA instead - SOG is our first choice though if it is available - but we got a great rate with AAA

We decided to go to WDW for spring break this year and called SOG about a week ago hopeing for an overflow rate but they had vacancies so we went ahead and booked with them. Last year we called in January and SOG was booked so we overflowed into AKL. We got a Savannah view for $214.00 a night. If we could have overflowed this year we were going to try for the Poly. Oh well I look at it this way. The room is costing us $700.00 for a week to stay in a nice big room. I know it is not a Disney atmosphere hotel but it will be a new experience. And we will be in Disney World. Leaving in 9 weeks. :cool1:
