Does anyone have any recommendations for a software program to create a logo? I don't want anything expensive or too difficult to figure out. I have an idea of what I want my logo to look like and plan on using it for my website, business cards and maybe some labels. I have looked online but I thought it might be easier to get some recommendations on here.

If you're not doing anything much beyond what you've described I would recommend Print Shop by Broderbund. It runs around the $80 level here in Canada and you can get it at Staples or someplace like that. I had great success with it at my previous office and used it extensively for business cards, invitations, labels, and created several logos.

If you have the Microsoft Office suite, you can use Publisher to create a logo.

Staples use to have a Lego Maker software you could purchase for about $10. I don't remember the name of the company that made it. I bought it. It was okay. Nothing extreme, but allowed you to add basic shapes, colors and fonts. You could also import pictures.

I found it on the rack with the cheap game cds.

My husband had a logo designed for his school recently. He used an online service where you tell them what you are looking for and set an amount to pay and a deadline. People from all of the world submit entries and the one you pick is the one who gets paid. It was really cool. He got some great entries and the winner got $200.
