Soccer uniform sizing help

We're signing DS who is 4 1/2, up for a youth Soccer program this fall. On the registration you have to pick a uniform size. The shirt and shorts are provided as part of the fee. Sizes are YXS, YS, YM, YL.

DS is in a 4T right now so I picked YXS. Does that sound right? I emailed the coordinator and they said that the uniforms are true to size but they dont know how it compares to a 4T.

Any advice?

Hi there, we are a family that coaches/plays soccer. I don't know if this will help but with our uniforms an xs would be something like a 4/5 ..small would be 6/8...medium would be 10/12...and large is about a 14. HTH

A 4/5 would correspond pretty closely with a 4T/5T although be a bit big. So I will stick with the XS. Thanks!

Just checked DS's jersey. It's YXS - he is 40" and 36 lbs (almost 4). HTH in some way

I would stick with the xs. We just ordered cheer uniforms and DD is in a 5t to a 5 in little girls and took the xs, which was in fact a little big.

DS is 40.5 inches and 38 pounds so that sounds perfect! I knew I would find answers on the DIS! Thanks everyone!
