Hello: Will the attraction Soarin stay after the 50th anniv is over. I had heard somewhere that it was only here for the 50th anniv. Or is that how they introduce new attractions.

Deb.

Soarin' will remain. There is talk, however, that a new, updated movie would be substituted, more like Soarin' across Florida or Soarin' across the USA.

No doubt it will be staying. It is far too popular to steal away that fast.

I do think it would be awesome if they made a soarin of florida for WDW instead of the California version. I hope the rumor is true.

I'm glad to hear the ride is staying.....we just rode it for the first time last week and we loved it! I wonder how expensive it is to make and/or play the "movies"? I'd like to see them have a few different ones and rotate them.

"Soarin' over Florida" would be some FLAT scenes. ;)

The tallest mountains in Florida are all the ones at WDW.

Look for the new film to be scenes of "Soarin' over the USA".

Oh, I hope not! I love the smell of the oranges and ocean. Its a wonderful attraction!

Oh, the film WILL be changed.

The ONLY reason it was "Soarin' Over California" (and not the USA) in the first place, is that it was part of "Disney's CALIFORNIA Adventure", the sister park to Disneyland (built on DL's former PARKING LOT, actually).
Originally, Disney was going to build a park there called "WESTCOT" (think "West Coast Epcot") but the locals in Anaheim would not allow it. (Too much traffic and disruption already.)

So... Disney had to come up with a NEW "theme" that would appeal to the locals... and DCA was born. And "Soarin' (Over California") turned out to the break-out HIT of the entire new park!

But, now that Soarin' is a huge success (on BOTH coasts) Disney will finally be able to create a film with more "wide appeal" rather than just localized to any given state.

So expect a change coming up. I'm just not sure of the timetable.

(And don't be too surprised if some of your favorite scenes and SMELLS are a part of the new show, too.)

Makes sense! :thumbsup2
As long as the oranges stay ;)

Soarin was a gift from Disneyland.

Its nice to find a gift that's truly "one-size-fits-all."

(But I'll bet it was hard to WRAP.)

:goodvibes

I read somewhere that the man who first designed Soarin' used an Erector Set to make a little one, and worked from there. Neat huh?

Enjoy.

This is my favorite ride !! I would love to see a new film .

I read somewhere (Dave Barry, I think) that the tallest mountain in Florida is actually a garbage dump.

With the smells and all, that would make for some unpleasant Soarin'.

Good one!

Thanks everyone for the info. We LOVE the Soarin ride. We were down to wdw in December. Already I want to return, but unfortunately it is usually every two years. So I will look forward to trying Soarin again.

Deb.
