Soarin' SB+ test...Fail

That does reassure me.

Not that I do this often but I am indulging in a TWINKIE! Wouldn't it be wonderful if all these changes went away and things went back the way they used to be. We saw it with TWINKIES and "NEW" Coke. But the powers that be at Disney are more stubborn than the heads of those two companies.
I saw chocolate filled Twinkies the other day.... :scratchin

This makes me boil with rage on principle. I feel so sad, just not happy to see how WDW is going right now.

That might seem pathetic and sad to some people, but it was my childhood, and a lot of other peoples too. It means a lot to me, I've criticised it yes, but in the sense of a mentor wanting his pupil to succeed or a fan wanting his team to win.

The only thing I can think to compare it to is a seaside town I used to go to as a kid for little breaks. They replaced the 'old' vintage trams there for new, 'better' ones. They courted parties and stag night crowds for easier sales. They increased prices. They decreased attractions.

Sure you can still go to that town, get some candy, enjoy the beach, maybe even do attractions with a bank loan or two... but it's not the same. Not nearly the same.

I'm not an evil or spiteful person, I can understand that change, even if it doesn't benefit me, is necessary if it helps the majority. Heck, I support some unpopular policies precisely for that reason. But can anyone seriously tell me all this is better than what was in place in 2009 when I last went? That it couldn't have been handled much better, or the money spent elsewhere where it was badly needed? I find it hard to believe.

I just remember people getting laughed at, shouted down at suggestions fast pass plus was the tip of an iceberg of change. Seems pretty clear it was now.

Count me in the waiting for some good news category. Please, come to your senses Disney. We want to give you money, make yourselves worthy of it!

And good luck to all those heading elsewhere, enjoy your trips !
You and I think much alike. I'm not boiling now but I am sad about all of this. I just keep thinking to myself "what in the world are they thinking?" :confused3

I am all for any process that a) allows me to ride what I want and b) doesn't make me stand in a line of any significance at all.

I've always hoped for a full virtual queuing system.

...

This is my sentiment. I've been on every ride at Walt Disney World. There's not a single ride that I'd wait more than, say, 30 minutes for.
I do like to fill my time at Disney with other things: eating, drinks, Voices of Liberty, half marathons, just relaxing and enjoying the ambiance.

I suspect that the end-goal is to go an all FP+ system of some sort. Maybe where you tap your magicband for an SB+ kind of thing. That said, it seems that there will need to be SOME standby of some sort because there are times where there's no need for return times. (Looking at you Captain EO and Ellen's Energy Adventure!)

Well, at least she knows. She's got that going for her.....

Mesa, are you as surprised as I am that we're 22 pages into it and nobody's brought up the "Why the heck are they doing this during the peak of Summer without telling anybody...?" response?

22 pages and not one guinea pig reference.

At least they've done a very good job of conditioning us that it's alright to pay to be a tester. So they've got that going for them....

Do you think if I taped 4 of my old Soarin' FPs together to match the size of the card stock SB+ it would "fly"?

I think that anything that is a headliner/A attraction (as defined by Mesaboy's thread on FP+) will become FP+/SB+ only. Yes, some things will still be FP+/legacy standby (you knew that was coming :wave2: ), but it's gonna be the less chosen attractions- Captain EO and Ellen, for example, that will have "regular" lines. There'll still be things to do, but all the "good" stuff will be by reservation only.

It still cracks me up that Disney spent $2billion to essentially continue legacy fastpass!

That is when I would be done for sure because that is no vacation to me. That's like work and I don't need to spend money to be overscheduled when I could just stay home and go into the workplace.

Love the fact that they are trying to eliminate some of the long wait times.
Great ride SOARIN people love it.

Eliminate long waits by not letting people wait in line? :lmao:

Or...(stay with me)...they could alleviate a lot of the long lines at headliners if THEY HAD MORE HEADLINERS.

Time to stop building DVC and hotel rooms and start building stuff for all those people to DO.

I know, I haven't even got trips planned, don't own DVC and couldn't have gotten back till 2016 and it makes me furious. Can only imagine how people going soon or owning DVC feel.

We were in the process of adding on 100 DVC points to our existing contracts and cancelled it after our First FP+ experience. We decided to add an extra trip to Universal instead. We've also coached 3 families to go to Universal instead of WDW this summer. Don't get me wrong as we still love WDW and plan to hold onto our other DVC contracts for now. We are empty nesters so trips with DH work as we spend most of our time in Epcot WS. With the current system, I couldn't promote WDW to families who are not regular visitors, wanting to experience as much as possible. I simply don't believe the price of admission is worth the limited attractions most families can see in a day. Two of the families loved Universal and thanked us for coaching them towards Universal. They couldn't stop talking about the express lines. (Both families had visited WDW, one prior to FP-) The other family will be visiting later this month. I have to hope that Disney will make it better but if capacity is the issue, they are in trouble.

Oh indeed, if you are local and can pop in and hang out, this might not affect you too badly in comparison to others, but as you say for families, it's a different story.

Certainly, if someone gave me the funds to do a Florida trip to an on site hotel rather than the cheaper offsites we went to, I'd pick universal over Disney. The in park benefits and hotel quality dictates so.i too would recommend universal (and sea world, and Kennedy space centre) to people above Disney if they couldn't afford to take the time and money to do both.

I'm simply amazed that some don't see the downside. It's like they make lines shorter using magic or something. I'm choking on the pixie dust.

Okay, so Sea World sells 2 levels of front of the line passes, Six flags also sells different levels of front of the line passes. And If I'm not mistaken Universal also offers something of the sort. Why has Disney not implemented the sale of an extra ticket or tier of tickets that allows the people to make a choice on whether they want to stand in line, or if they want to pay to bypass the line? Legacy FP, FP+, SB+ this all seems like it is becoming a mess to even deal with.

I know that having a free FP available to everyone is a big thing, but really is it free if you have to plan 60 days in advance, and schedule every minute of your time?

Disney is too big. It would overwhelm the system.

FP+ is like New Coke. I liked Classic Coke better.

Disney, please roll back the clock a couple of years and spend $1.5 BILLION dollars on some new rides, not a customer management system with tracking bracelets. Ah Star Wars land, where are ye?

Only if everyone who entered the park bought one. Some would be deterred by the price. Other's would be willing to spend the money. But then again, I guess thats a step backwards. Back to the old ticket booklets.
