Soarin' SB+ test...Fail

I'm glad the SB+ name that I mentioned it should be called at the start of the A&E thread has caught on. Although hopefully it also dies and Disney doesn't actually read this and call it this.

I like the name I gave it a little more (but that's because I'm immature and have a mouth like a trucker). :rotfl2:

Seems like a good idea on the face of it---the same number of guests get to ride standby, and get the added benefit of not having to queue for an hour to do so. It'll take some time to train guests to take advantage of it, though.

Do we get a fish if we clap our flippers too?

Standby +. Because + makes everything better. :)

Snort

This will never happen for me. I'll be at Weeki Wachee Springs. At least the mermaids swim there. Make it hard to get one park done in one day and Disney will be completely written off. My travel dollar will be spent on a State Park Pass.

:lmao:

And you know Disney has that all figured in (longer vacations! See more! Give us more money while you're at it! Oh and after you spend that 9-11 days with us, we're pretty sure you aren't going to have time to toddle off to that park down the road either) but frankly, they have got to be kidding me. I have been to Disney so many times. I don't need to see the same old same old over and over again.

We're ready to break out of the WDW bubble by day 5.

Jenn...had I seen you use that name leading up to this thread it would have been in the title.;) I like it!

Or you could plunk down $80/person for six samples from the F & W festival. That would make me forget about not riding Soarin'. :rolleyes1

http://www.wdwmagic.com/events/international-food-and-wine-festival/news/31jul2014-new-after-hours-street-party-coming-to-this-year's-epcot-food-and-festival.htm

I've been going to the F&W festival well over a decade now and each year the food items get smaller while the prices go up,I pick and choose only a few items to try each year.I mainly go for the concerts now.

How is this ever going to work? What if I've planned on dinner at let's say Be Our Guest at 6:30. I've had this ADR booked since my 180 mark. I want a SB+ for Anna and Elsa. How are they going to make sure its not going to overlap with my ADR? Especially for popular attractions. I guess this makes park hopping moot too. What's the point of park hopping if I can't experience any of the attractions? I don't even know how to react. This is the silliest idea ever. I want the freedom to ride what I want when I want. If I want to stand in a 5 hour line to meet Anna and Elsa, that's on me. I'd rather be able to choose to wait in a long line, than not be able to ride at all. It's just silly.

Yup, I'm mighty peeved I shelled out the extra dough for the hopper privilege before I really understood what these changes meant.

Okay, so Sea World sells 2 levels of front of the line passes, Six flags also sells different levels of front of the line passes. And If I'm not mistaken Universal also offers something of the sort. Why has Disney not implemented the sale of an extra ticket or tier of tickets that allows the people to make a choice on whether they want to stand in line, or if they want to pay to bypass the line? Legacy FP, FP+, SB+ this all seems like it is becoming a mess to even deal with.

I know that having a free FP available to everyone is a big thing, but really is it free if you have to plan 60 days in advance, and schedule every minute of your time?

This is what I was thinking earlier. They probably will go to 4 lines:

1. FP++ which you pay for but get to go to the very front of the line
2. FP+ which you reserve online and gets you a 10 minute wait
3. SB+ which lets you come back later and get in a line for a 40-50 minute wait
4. Regular SB: wait determine by the guests using #1-3 (enter at own risk).

Is there a need to call it FP+ since FP- is gone. Maybe it should go back to just being called FP. Unless FP is what they plan to call this thing all along. FP gets you a 30 minute wait, FP+ gets you to the front of the line.

I've been to Disney a couple of times since FP+ was introduced and we absolutely love it!! Looking forward to using it again in September.

I'm wondering if they would have even started the SB+ if it wasn't for the monsterous waits for A&E? I can see it necessary for them but so far I'm not convinced it's needed in other places but happy to reserve final decision until I've tried it out myself....if it's still available.

If you haven't tried FP+, please give it a try. You might really like it! We sure do!!!

:thumbsup2 We love it also.
Why?

Whats the difference between going to a ride getting a time to come back and get in the standby line vs just entering a very long standby line? I don't really see a difference...?

If anything the new system is exactly the benefit of the new system. I want to ride Soarin but instead of waiting 50-60 mins I get a return time 20 mins from now and have a 30 min wait.

The biggest issue Disney has is when they test something it does mess up someones trip that is in the park now. In the end if they can get IT to get things straight they can actually make the system better.

I know they need more rides to deal with the crowds but I don't see how this is ride rationing? They are still filling up the rides to capacity right? They are not saying oh lets put less people on a ride because we don't want a regular standby line...?

Well said .
i did not make it to soaring tonight. We got sucked into test track, dd's favourite.

I have not read all of this thread but the biggest potential alarming problem with this standby plus system to me is this:

You can only book either soaring or test track with the fp+ system. With this new standby system, it is possible that you will be shut out of one of the two biggest attractions at Epcot on any given day, if you dont arrive within the first hour or two to grab the standby plus. As in, there is no way you are going to get to ride both headliners, unless you are there first thing in the morning....

Think about that. It could become the norm. No new attractions coming to epcot anytime soon. At 60 days, you have to pick one or the other. (because, test track will have to have the same system, or there will be 4 hr standby lines due to the over flow from no soaring....)

Rope dropping is almost useless here now anyways right now...

And, given the unreliability of test track in the rain,,,, this could become very interesting.....better add weather forecasts to your preparation...

Not a happy direction at all. I would rather choose, or not choose, to stand in line for the headline attraction I paid maximum price for with my admission. I dont want to KNOW that its impossible for me to ride both attractions at my epcot day. I may not ride both, but don't tell me I CANT.

I hate the word CANT. I always believe that knowledge and research and planning can allow me to do what I want to do at Disney. But its creeping in so much of our vocabulary.

I CANT get a BOG dinner ressie if I wanted one.
I CANT get an A&E fp+ if I wanted one
I CANT see both Soarin and Test Track on the same day at epcot....

This direction is concerning, alarming even.

Rope drop is still very effect tool. Easy to see TT and SOARIN on same day using RD and FP+

There's one thing I don't get.

OK, more than 1 thing, but I'll just go with one for now:

If they're going to implement SB+ for the headliners, why in the "World" would they be removing the legacy FP machines?

Couldn't they use the legacy FP machines to hand out SB+?

BTW, I think a system where they had FP+, SB+ that gave out return times up until 7 pm, and then at 7 pm change the SB+ line to regular old SB would work well. Nobody would be completely shut out, there would be no 2+ hour waits, and you wouldn't have to stay up that late to get in line if you miss FP+ or SB+.

Large font, bright colors, exclamation mark, and some pixie dust. I don't know what I was worried about. Thanks. (If I did emoticons or smilies, I'd make a winky one right about here.)

I find that Scarlett makes a good substitution.
