We had FP+ for Soarin for 5:55 to 6:55 on 06/16 and today I received an email saying it is cancelled "due to a change in the operating hours" of the attraction.

The email says we can use FP on another attraction from this list:

Mission: SPACE
Spaceship Earth
Journey Into Imagination With Figment
The Seas with Nemo & Friends
Soarin'
Living with the Land
Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival

First of all, why is Soarin on that list if it is now closed???

second, where is Test Track? How is that fair? I would have FP'd Test Track if I knew Soarin' was down. Absolutely fuming right now.

You could always call and ask for a FP to replace the one that was cancelled. I did this once when Disney changed one of the FP and they just put an anytime FP on the account. ymmv

I think I chose the phone menu option that had to do with website problems.

OP I got the same email just now; I had Soarin FP for 6pm (last time slot).
I'm aggravated because the replacements offered in my email have only 1 tier 1 FP for which I can exchange it for: Living with the Land. It only offers me tier 2 attractions.

Our first few trips when 7DMT first opened it was down the 3 times we had FP for it. Every time it let us go on attractions of similar demand, which seems fair to me. Don't give m Figment in exchange for Soarin!

thanks so much. Does that mean the last guests can join the line at 5pm or that the ride literally shuts down at 5pm?

I don't know. It just says "will close at 5:00pm" - I would take that to mean that's when the line will be cut off, but that's just my guess.

It sounds like the FP is a standard recovery pass. Generally those can be used any time during the day.

Does the email state a specific time that you can use the FP on those attractions? Or does it or MDX state that its good throughout the day?

If you had a FP+ for Soarin and Disney cancelled it, I'd be shocked if they refused to provide you with another one if you called them to complain. Not that Disney is perfect, but I'd have faith that they would make that situation right for you. They obviously won't be able to accommodate you for that specific time if the ride is going to be down, but they'd give you a FP+ for another day/time.

I'm also confident they'd give you another FP for Soarin. Go to guest services.

I once had something happen to me where I felt like I wasn't treated equally about a ride and something that happened there. and they went above/beyond to make it right. New fast pass and got my money back on a gift card for the DAY.

Exactly my thoughts. Check MDE...it's more than likely an anytime FP now and you can use it whenever you want that day.

That means you can go on soarin any time!! They issued you a " magical expierence" Fp. Look in your MDE its in there under your FPs. This happened all the time to us...stop fuming and understand they issued you a FPs for anytime! You can still enjoy soarin. Test track is the opposite direction across the park.

The only FP's that Disney issues when an FP ride time is cancelled is one that can be used at any time during the day in question. Thus, you could go to Soarin earlier than the time you planned.

Guest services at the park would be able to remedy this by giving you an anytime fastpass to any attraction (including Soarin). I think you'll have better success there than calling.

There really is no reason Disney allowed FP to be scheduled for that time-slot. Once again, the park expects the customer to plan to the nth degree, but can't plan better for something like this?

It is indeed an anytime FP, for certain listed attractions (copied/pasted below) - but the only Tier 1 listed is LWTL (and Soarin, but my plane lands at 5pm and it closes apparently at 5pm now, so my only Tier 1 option is LWTL which I wouldn't bother getting a FP for). (Maybe MS is Tier 1? IDK, we don't do that ride.)

And it states that it is NOT changeable: I cannot change it for TT. I can't change one of my other FP for TT (I guess b/c they are my Tier 2 FP, so not changeable to Tier 1).

I'm fine with Soarin shutting down early - that's life. But why not let my FP for it be used on all other Tier 1 attractions? I guess I could cancel all my FP and then choose TT if it becomes available, but I could lose Character Spot and I only have 3 hours in the park that night. (First world problems I know!)

From my email this morning canceling my FP:
Your FastPass+ selection for Soarin' from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on 06/16/2016 is no longer available.

As a replacement, you may now visit one (1) of the following FastPass+ experiences any time from 9:00 AM on 06/16/2016 through end of normal attraction operating hours.

Experiences
Soarin'
Spaceship Earth
Living with the Land
The Seas with Nemo & Friends
Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival
Journey Into Imagination With Figment
Mission: SPACE

People who had fp for Soarin after 5pm today can use it at any time before 5pm, including Soarin.
I know this already has been stated but that's what I;m reading on the HUB

I just want to be clear. They cancelled a Soarin' fastpass for technical reasons, and then they offered you an anytime fastpass that includes Soarin', and you're fuming about it?

Tough crowd.

I don't think it was an "unexpected glitch" type of thing. I think the OP is upset that she was allowed to book a time slot that Disney must have known they were going to need to close the ride for. I didn't read the original post very closely, but I didn't think and anytime fp was one of the choices?

So, not really Disney's fault that the flight time conflicts with being able to ride Soarin' earlier in the day (and really, I wouldn't have been confident in my ability to get to Soarin' by 7:00pm with a flight arrival time of 5:00pm), but it would still make sense for TT to be an alternative.
