We too were there last Saturday, and got there at about 9:30 am. We had to leave EPCOT by early afternoon. First of all, they should put the fastpass machine outside the Land building. The traffic flow of people (or lack thereof) to get into the building is terrible. Strollers blocking the entrance hill, people rushing in and out of the building, CM's standing blocking one of the doors, doing absolutely nothing to direct traffic, and people rushing both ways around the upstairs circle to get to the ride. The escalators have people exiting across the line of people trying to get to the stairs to go down. And finally, you can't see the wait time or fastpass return time from upstairs, so you have to manuever your way through the chaos, to get down there to see if you will try to do the ride. It is a mess when it is crowded and the CM I politely asked if there was any plan by Disney to recognize and correct the mess was completely clueless and uncaring.
When we got there the wait was 70 minutes, and the return time was 4:50!
So basically you cannot get on this ride if it is a crowded day at the parks, unless you plan to open and close the park. However, even though it was Jersey Week, Super Soap, and Festival of the Masters, we did not think it was really that crowded in any park, except at the Land Pavillion chaos.
I also think that this is one of the slowest loading rides I have ever been on, even using fastpass. We rode it in August. We found the wait times were always longer than what was posted.
And, it is a great ride, but the movie should be a longer length!!!!!
The golf course shot in it was actually hit by Michael Eisner!
