Soarin' Fastpass / Standby Question

When we were there in June, a long linr formed about 8 or 8:15 in front of the fastpass machines. They opened up the fastpasses for the EMH till they ran out, which wasn't too long. The fastpasses do go extremely fast for Soarin and I am sure that by 1pm they'd be gone for the day... By the way, I'm pretty sure that you can only get fastpasses for people that have activated their park ticket upon entering the park. You'd be able to get one, but unless everyone went into Epcot, you'd only get one fastpass. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken!!!

Also their in June...To comment on the fastpass quickness, we got to Soarin at aprox. 10:30 AM and they were at 3:40PM already!

We just got back too. On Friday, the line at opening was out the door of the Land and the wait time was 120 minutes. They said that the fast passes were gone by 9:50 am. On Sunday, things were much more reasonable. We fastpassed Soaring at 9 am and got 10:30 return times. Once we were done with Soaring, they was still fast passes for the afternoon.

The good news was that since everyone was over at Soarin' , MS and TT were walk on all morning long..

greg126,

I think you should do Soarin' first, but it all comes down to arriving at opening. There are usually a few hundred people there for 'rope drop' and you want to be at the head of that group because they will ALL go to Soarin' as will most everyone else that comes in after them. If you are 10 or 15 minutes late, your wait time will go up exponentially. (I.E. - Your wait will be much more than 10 or 15 minutes when you are 10-15 minutes late.)

We always take advantage of the singles lines at Mission:Space and Test Track when necessary, so I would highly recommend being at the front of the cattle line right at park opening and go straight to Soarin'.

Since we do Epcot Future World in the evening, we'll have to play it by ear to see exactly when will be best to ride.

This must just be some kind of unbelievable ride!

I agree, you should plan to go to Epcot at least one day at opening. It's absolutely true that, after rope drop, everyone heads straight to Soarin'. We walked as fast as we could one day right at opening and the standby wait was already 30 minutes - at 9:05 am! so got FPs and went back an hour later. It appears to be the most popular ride at all the WDW parks right now, probably because it's so new. (Never had such a problem getting FPs at California Adventure!)

Be aware the FPs DO run out very early. We arrived one day at about 1:00 pm, thinking we'd get FPs for the evening - and found they were already all gone for the day. In comparison, the STANDBY wait for Mission Space was 10 minutes. Go figure.

We too were there last Saturday, and got there at about 9:30 am. We had to leave EPCOT by early afternoon. First of all, they should put the fastpass machine outside the Land building. The traffic flow of people (or lack thereof) to get into the building is terrible. Strollers blocking the entrance hill, people rushing in and out of the building, CM's standing blocking one of the doors, doing absolutely nothing to direct traffic, and people rushing both ways around the upstairs circle to get to the ride. The escalators have people exiting across the line of people trying to get to the stairs to go down. And finally, you can't see the wait time or fastpass return time from upstairs, so you have to manuever your way through the chaos, to get down there to see if you will try to do the ride. It is a mess when it is crowded and the CM I politely asked if there was any plan by Disney to recognize and correct the mess was completely clueless and uncaring.
When we got there the wait was 70 minutes, and the return time was 4:50!
So basically you cannot get on this ride if it is a crowded day at the parks, unless you plan to open and close the park. However, even though it was Jersey Week, Super Soap, and Festival of the Masters, we did not think it was really that crowded in any park, except at the Land Pavillion chaos.
I also think that this is one of the slowest loading rides I have ever been on, even using fastpass. We rode it in August. We found the wait times were always longer than what was posted.
And, it is a great ride, but the movie should be a longer length!!!!!
The golf course shot in it was actually hit by Michael Eisner!

I'm going Feb 10 - 18th 2006

TGM said crowd levels would be managable

After reading everyone's comments on this thread, I am now re-vamping my itinerary to get a FP for Soarin as soon as I enter. Is this reallistically easy to do or is everyone "running" towards Soarin at opening time? :confused3

Love your opinions

O.K., so with all this in mind - I am going during a VERY busy time. Have been to the Land Pavillion, but not since 'Soarin opened.

What is the best way to "navigate" getting to this ride. It sounds confusing! Can someone explain the set-up and how best to "get to the line"? And if the stand by line is too long, the best way to get to the Fastpass machines?

TIA :flower:

The fast pass machines are to the right of the entrance. You can't miss them. The lines are marked so you get in the right one.

3forme, Soarin' is on the lower level of the circular Land pavillion, off to the left as you enter. You have to get downstairs, if you remember you enter on the upper level, (at 6oclock on the circle), and you walk around the walkway balcony to stairs down (at either 11 oclock or 1oclock on the circle.) The ride and fastpass machines are downstairs (about 10 oclock on the circle). Good Luck and enjoy!

We were at Epcot on Wednesday, November 2nd. Arrived between noon and 1.00 pm, grabbed Fast Passes to Soarin' with a return time of between 2.30 to 3.30 pm. We entered the stand-by line immediately and had about a 20-minute wait (it said 40 minutes, but was only about half as long). After our first trip, we went over to Ellen's Energy thing (yuk, don't waste your time), then to see Off Kilter in Canada, then grabbed some fish 'n chips and listened to the British Invasion in UK. We were about 6 minutes late for our latest return time for Soarin' just after 3.30 pm but they let us in and we only waited about 5-10 minutes.

We loved Soarin'!
