We are typically not a "rides" family. We always hit all the main ones with our two little ones- dumbo, tea cups, carousel, etc. However, my husband is the only ones who truly takes advantage of the rides. I'm a bit of a chicken and avoid all the big, scary ones and unfortunately my daughter takes after me. We've had to walk out various attractions because they were too dark, too loud, too "scary" for her. It's very difficult to get her to try new things.
This will be our third trip in 3 years and probably the last for a while. I'd REALLY like to try some new things. I was told that Soarin and test track were great and not scary. Do you think I should bring her on? What about riding as a family with my 3yo sin too (if he meets height requirement). My friends 5yo loved them both but she's not a chicken! What do you guys think?

There is nothing really scary about Test Track in my opinion. Just goes fast. My kids (7 and 5) have never had a problem even when younger.

Soarin has been fine for them too. It's not necessarily scary, but I can see how some people would not like hanging in the air above the screen.

Maybe show them the rides on YouTube first and see how they respond?

Yeah, I am one of those people that don't like hanging in Soarin'. I was really looking forward to riding it, but did not like my feet dangling at all. I would have never expected to have the reaction I did and I know most people like it, but it wasn't for me!

My I'm-afraid-to-ride-Dumbo-because-it's-scary (seriously) 7yo is fine on Soarin'. He hasn't tried TT yet because it's too scary, but he thought RSR (same ride system) was only a LITTLE scary and next year he might be willing to try it again but he only wanted to do it once this year. Point being, I think you'd be fine on either. On Soarin' you might want to have her close her eyes right as the ride starts because it gets dark and the seats go up, which is the only part my scared one is afraid of so he closes his eyes for that little bit (or wears a glow bracelet).

By contrast his older brother who's 9 is now getting a little bit bored with Soarin' and some of the slower rides and wants to ride ToT all day. Kids!:rotfl:

My daughter (6 yrs old now), was almost 5 when we did Soarin - she is a nervous one also. She absolutely loved Soarin. I think I was more anxious than she was with our seats up! I just didn't like that feeling. But, she was fine and loved it.
