I have to make my Sunday morning and I was planning on kicking off our trip with the Spirit of Aloha dinner show. We are also celebrating my 7 year olds birthday. We are using our DP credits for this, but I am more concerned about the kids enjoying the show. We will be celebrating my 5 year old's birthday at the California Grill followed by the Pirates and Pals cruise. I don't want my 7-year old to be disappointed since she is not getting a birthday party in lieu of the trip this year.

Is it really just hit or miss for two DP credits? Any other great suggestions? I am really anxious about making these ressies after reading the reviews. I want her to have a special bday like her sister.

Have you thought about doing the Hoop-De-Doo Review instead? We have done both and were very disappointed with Spirit of Aloha. I don't think we were the only ones either because about half of the crowd that attended the night we were there didn't even stay for the whole show. However, we enjoyed Hoop-De-Doo so much that after we saw it the first time our daughter begged and begged to see it again and we did 2 nights later! In our opinion Hoop-Dee-Do is much better!

We did the Hoop-De-Doo Review last september. It was a big hit. The kids want to go back this year. We got in to that because we could not get in to the Spirit of Aloha. Looks like we got lucky. Why the disappointment with Spirit of Aloha? because of how long it is? or just a bad show?

Our family did the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Cruise and loved it!! Your kids will really enjoy it. I hope you get Patch as your boat host - he is great.

We did SoA the night of our 1st full day (11 and 6 year olds) and were disappointed... Hubby & I didn't mind it but it sure did not keep our kids attention. Maybe because I goofed and booked the 8pm show instead of the 6pm show. The kids just wanted to leave the entire time. We ended up missing the fire guys completely. Took a cab back to our resort.

If you want to do a dinner show, HDDR is the only way to go. We like the food and the show is a lot of fun.

Besides the show at SoA being pretty boring except for a couple of moments, we weren't too fond of the food. Also, we noticed that a lot of younger kids couldn't keep their interest and started to get antsy long before the show ended. I noticed this because I couldn't keep my interest so I started to people watch mid-show.

Ultimately, you will read good and bad reviews on everything. Take everything you read with a grain of salt. What one person hates, another person may love. Don't base all your decisions on the opinions you read. Sometimes it's just best to find out for yourself. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. I am planning to go to the HDDR the following night. Perhaps we will do HDDR the first night and Mickey's BBQ the following night. I haven't been able to find many reviews about the BBQ. Any other suggestions for kids 5 and 7? I want to start off with something special. I should mention that my husband isn't wild about this trip (he thinks we should get new appliances and countertops instead) so I don't want to start the trip out with something that is a total flop.
