So who's had to cut or color their own hair?

I've never tried cutting new bangs. That's adventurous, lol. Plenty of people do it on yTube.

When I had bangs I used to trim them, but never cut from scratch. I think I'm just bored stuck at home and want some change, LOL. I likely won't be brave enough to really do it.

I have a cut that needs done every 5 to 6 weeks (allover layers). I was due when this thing started but had to pass in an abundance of caution because I had a month old non-Covid cough. I'm close to a DIY cut, but since a few things are starting to open this week, I'm holding off.

There have been 0 new cases diagnosed in our county in the past week. It's time.

I always trim my bangs between appointments my stylist told me she trims her own also. Years ago I lost a ton of my hair due to medical treatment. My stylist recommended semi permanent color as it is gentler. I've never looked back. I love that it gradually faded so no roots ever. I do every 4 months or so. It says 28 shampoos but I was my hair daily and find it lasts a long time for me. I do stay with my natural color so that may be the reason.

Once I get desperate enough for the ends to need a trim, my husband does a great job. My stylist was impressed that he did it before. Now as for the coloring, my daughter told me my hair isn't turning white, it's just sparkly.

I started going gray in my late teens 🙄 I also have a super sensitive scalp and the only hair color that doesn’t irritate it is in a box (thank goodness Madison Reed came along, it was a horrible cycle of burned head before).

I’m very close to cutting my own hair but I know it will be a disaster. It’s just too dang thick.

I want to just stop with the hair color but even though I started going gray early, it’s still not that gray and the texture of those is super coarse. So unfortunately, that kind of gray is just really aging. I keep hoping it’ll hurry up because I’d totally rock platinum or pastel hair but nope.

I have a layered cut, so I'm not even going to attempt to cut my own hair. I also am not going to color it myself - it's kind of interesting to see just how many "face-framing silver highlights" I have. I like them. I almost don't want to color my hair anymore when salons open up.

I've been cutting DH's hair myself for many years, though. I think since 2011 or 12. A few weeks into the quarantine, I gave DS a mohawk, which I've since trimmed up to even it out as the short parts grow back. Last week I also cut my mom's hair, but she doesn't want to do color either.

I’m going to embrace my roots for now. No big deal as I’m not really seeing people I know who would judge that sort of thing. When I do have to go out, I put it up in a high bun.

I’m having fun with DH about his hair. It’s gotten much longer than he usually wears it so we’ve been trying out different hairstyles at home. He’s been wearing a ball cap when he goes out in public.

We’re in WA so probably another 3 weeks at least until salons are open.

I have always colored my own hair, so that hasn't been a problem. I got very adventurous with my bangs last week. I had been growing them out, but without my stylist to shape them while they grew, they because my nemesis! I cut off over an inch to keep them out of my eyes and I'm glad I did!

When my college kid came home in March, he was in dire need of a haircut. He had been rehearsing a show and the director asked him not to cut his hair so they could style it a certain way. The show was cancelled two days before opening, then his school closed so he came home. I had a hair cutting kit from when the kids were little, so I used the clippers and scissors and gave him a pretty decent cut. I cut my older son's hair last week, and now DH is ready for one. I don't mind doing it, except the customers around here are really bad tippers!

I used to color my own hair but that's been way over 10 years ago. Now it's just naturally old people hair color. I will trim my bangs right now but my hair is at ponytail length and my hairdresser used to cut that ponytail off and keep it off all summer long, every year.

I bought a root touchup kit from my stylist. I'm going to need to get another one soon. I cannot wait until its safe to go back. While I'm capable of doing my own hair, I just hate it.

I like my hair really short, I wear it in a pixie cut. But with my stylist closed It's been growing, and growing, and growing at Cousin It speed. I promised myself that I wouldn't cut my own bangs because I'm horrible at it. I always wind up looking like:

So today I got tired of my hair being in my eyes like a sheepdog and now I'm wearing a headband.

I color my own hair anyway. I do need a haircut, but fortunately it is long enough I can put it up in a ponytail or bun.

I actually colored my hair for the first time yesterday. I used a very nice kit from Madison Reed, which I purchased online. I am very happy with the results. It's bit more pricey but worth the extra costs to not worry about burning my hair and having my hand held during the process. I won't cut my hair because it's crazy curly and needs special love that I can't do. I had my last hair cut in DEC and really overdo but just wearing it pinned from my face in a ponytail.

My wife cut my hair with clippers and attachments last week. The sides and the back were easy enough - I usually get those clipper cut anyways. The top was a little dicier, but it turned out pretty good. We erred on the side of caution, not taking off nearly as much as I would have a hair stylist do.

SO, I did break down and give myself just a little trim - sideburns and neck. The neck was hard, but I used a piece of masking tape as a guide. It's actually okay - better than it was anyway.

My son cut my husband's hair today and did a great job! He also trimmed his own hair. If I get desperate I might let him trim my hair too.

Me. My hair is short, so I was pretty nervous I'd mess it up, but I went slow, and it turned out well enough that I won't frighten the neighbors. I'm not even going to try coloring it. I'm about to see what I look like with gray hair for the first time!

And I was saddened by how harsh her new hair color, flat gray and black, appeared. It made her face or expression so stern and her glasses, which looked nice with her before color of sandy blonde, appeared so much darker. Totally removed the sparkle her eyes had before this change. Still love her reporting!
