So who else can't wait for DCL to release the next set of dates?!?!?

DH and I want to find a cruise to BVI in October 2017 for our 25th anniversary. I'm stalking the DCL website :hyper: Hubby doesn't exactly care where we go as long as we hit Castaway Cay.

I know e
Problem with cruise tours and Alaska on DCL is that they are sailing roundtrip out of Vancouver. Other lines that I'm pricing out that do the cruise tours do them on their one way northbound or southbound cruises. You do the land portion of Alaska, board the cruise ship in Alaska then end your cruise in Canada or the US or do the reverse.
I know what you mean! Personally, I just miss being on DCL!!!

We are! Hoping to book Magic for June 2017 but if that proves too expensive 1st runner up will be Fantasy in June. If that doesn't work will hopefully do the Wonder repo from Vancouver to San Diego or Mexico if that's a possibility.

OMG I check daily just in case they happen to release the dates early. This will be out first DCL cruise, and I'm so excited!! We are looking at June 2017.

I am waiting on June 2017 also! I have a placeholder that must be used by June 19, 2017 and hoping to do an Eastern on the Fantasy since our last was a Western.

I am anxiously waiting the summer 2017 to be released too!! I want to take my son on a Mediterranean cruise as a graduation present. I hope the prices are not to out of control!!

Me, me, me. Anxiously waiting to see if there will be a Panama Canal cruise next year. There are a whole bunch of us, from the 2015 WBPC, waiting to book it.

Is West > East or does it really not matter...? My husband and I were considering a PC as well, but I honestly am not sure if it makes much difference going May vs. October. Would you or anyone else here happen to have feelings one way or the other?

That makes so much more sense than a RT. As an Alaskan, I and others I know have always thought visitors who only do a cruise and no land portion are missing so much of Alaska. Even the ABD is pretty whirlwind at only 8 days. I briefly looked at the itinerary, and there's no fishing (salmon, halibut), didn't see any bear watching, etc. AK is too big to see much in that short of a timespan.

If you're interested in fishing, I'd suggest cruise then land. Get fishing in early enough to have it frozen for transport back home. And obv check when salmon will be running, etc, first.

(We're VERY anxiously awaiting the July 2017 Eastern Caribbean dates!)

Which is exactly why, after our first (7 night round trip out of Vancouver) Alaska cruise, we booked a 19 night Cruise/Tour (Holland America) for our second visit (7 night cruise, 12 nights on land).

I agree, a lot of the tours seem very superficial when considering all that could be on a tour. We've talked of Alaska trips for a long time, but so far haven't found the right combo. The 19 night that PrincessShmoo mentions we might just have to check out to see what it involves, although we are at least 2yrs from an AK trip.

I'm also super excited to see the new dates/itineraries. But, I have no idea where I should be checking. If I want to see them as soon as their released, where should I be looking everyday?

I certainly don't want to persuade you to skip Alaska, just because it's a coastal cruise. There are lots of things to see in those coastal towns, also.

Just don't feel you've "seen" Alaska just because that's what you've done. While the coastal cruises (in any itinerary - whether Alaska, Med, or Mexico) do give you a "taste" of any given country, you learn a lot more by traveling all areas within those countries. That's why we still have plans to visit Alaska/Yukon again.

The DCL website is where they will be. But it's likely that a head's up will be posted here on the DISboards.

Having only done Westbound, I am probably not qualified to answer that. But, for me, the things which persuaded us to do West over East were the fact that you gain time travelling Westbound, rather than losing it, the weather is meant to be better in May over October (not sure if this is true but we had great weather on our Westbound last May) and generally because May is easier for us than October.

Def keeping eyes open- we had hoped for Jan 2017 cruising, but had to push those ideas off, so very curious about what the next itineraries will be :rolleyes1
