I am an employee of my church ( I teach preschool). All church staff received a bonus this year (we got one last year too ). It is the second time in MANY years that church staff received bonuses. Anyway- it was a very generous bonus.
My DH works for a tech company, and he got nothing. Well, they had a luncheon for the office staff- but the people who are out in the field get nothing. Nice.
Since our business unit is not considered revenue producing, no bonuses for us. But the other units that are considered revenue producing receive a bonus. Yet without us, the jobs would not be complete and revenue generated.
My husband gets a bonus every year around Christmas but its just considered a profits based bonus, not a holiday bonus. He's an engineer contracted to a military base.
My husband use to get a yearly bonus, a turkey at Thanksgiving and a ham and coat at Christmas, but not any longer. He is a laborer. However, the office staff still get a bonus and a office party for Christmas.
Never got a bonus. I was a teacher, so all I got was two weeks of unpaid leave over Christmas. My DH got a bonus when he was an engineer. Had a nice Christmas party, too. My sister is a nurse. She doesn't get a bonus AND she had to pay (yes PAY) to attend her office Christmas party at a hotel. She's management so she was required to attend. Needless to say, there was no open bar. Or cash bar. They had to use the hotel bar in the lobby area. Classy.
My former job in Nursing for a nonprofit yes
Current job in Home health No but I get holiday off if I choose
My BFF in Retirement place as a Cook/now manger Yes.
My company pays 75% of our annual bonus before Christmas. The another 25% will be paid Feb next year.
Company gives a holiday party every year at a 5 star hotel with band, games, lucky draws. Our own department gives a small party too. It can be at a chain restaurant or potluck at a conference room.
My manager was very nice this year. He gave all his direct reports a $25 gift card. It was out of his own pocket. Small gift but the thought is a lot to us.
DH is a faculty at a university. Never ever got a bonus. They have an admin assistant in their department. Most faculty members contributes $20-ish each to give her as a very small bonus.
I work at a private club and the members donate money for all of the employees to split. I also received a cash bonus from my direct boss and a hefty gift certificate from the club president. I must have been a really good girl this year!
I work for the airport authority, and I got a bonus of $150.
Dh works for Publix, and he got 2 weeks pay, his quarterly bonus, and his stock dividend check. In total we got about $800-900 in bonus money this year.
My DH works for a phone company, and no bonuses there - ever!!!
The last time I worked anywhere that gave a bonus was the nursing home - they gave us $100 the week before Christmas.
I would love to get something like my friends brother in law... he works for a steel company and his bonus this year was about $16,000!!! It's around that amount every year...
Since our business unit is not considered revenue producing, no bonuses for us. But the other units that are considered revenue producing receive a bonus. Yet without us, the jobs would not be complete and revenue generated.
When my ex and I were still together he worked for Publix, they got a 2 week paycheck as their Holiday bonus and if he only took 1 week vacation he would get a 3 week bonus. Once he accrued 3 weeks vacation time, he took 2 weeks off a year and would still get a 3 week bonus... made it great as we didn't have to worry about where the money was coming from for the girls holiday... it was right there on the first payday in December.
DH works as "admin"; he's the CAD manager for a company that manufacters sump pump trucks. (Coincidentally, his company is owned by the company that makes Tervis Tumblers. )
The company had a party at the CEO's house. And DH got a bonus. 2 $25 gift cards to Publix.
I work in a school, we're a charter school so they give us a little bit of "swag" in the hopes that we'll use it in public and give the school free advertising.
This year we actually got a lot of "swag": a coffee cup, a pen, a luggage tag, and a reusable bag for the grocery store.
I appreciate it, but if someone gave me a choice I'd take the $300,000 bonus mentioned upthread. Sadly noone asked me!
I work for a dentist and yes we get both Christmas "presents" in the form of a check and a Christmas lunch. I think you have to work for a private employer.
My DH employer is in the midst of a buyout we don't know from month to month what's going to happen, no bonus this year.
We get a nice $$$$ bonus form the board, a dinner and small gift from our principal, and a gift from the school store from our director. We also get half our yearly stipend in December. And a two week vacation!!! Love this district!!! My previous two districts didn't give us squat. I also give my staff of 2-3 a gift card of some sort and they also get the board bonus.
