"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

ohh those Savannah pictures are making me so excited for our December trip at Kidiani! I love giraffes too. That was one of the main reasons we bought at AKVs instead of SSR. :cutie:

Congrats on the 2 trips! 2 is always better than one. And... I'll have a Christmas TR you can live through vicariously :rolleyes1

great trip report... i was lurking the entire report.. thansk for all teh pics for us to live vicariously through you..

i would love to stay at AKL with my daughter... she absolutely LOVES animals.. maybe if i get a pin... i'll be lucky enough!

Good morning everyone!

Well, it is official. We ended up cancelling our reservation for Dec./Jan. It is a little bit sad since it's always fun going to see the Christmas decorations but oh well. I will have to get my Disney holiday fill through all of your TRs and then the Christmas Day parade on TV.

But instead of that trip, we now have TWO others booked. Yay! First one will be this August like I mentioned the other day. The second one will be next March as another spring break trip...who knows if I'll be able to go on that one but the cool thing about the March reservation is that it's the week of all our birthdays (mine, Dad's, and Emma's...our bdays are all within a few days :rotfl:).

I'm debating doing another PTR for August. I should probably finish this TR before starting a new one! We'll see though.

Have a good day!

Woo Hoo!!! But I have to say it is totally not fair that you get to go 2x this year before I get to get there once!!! :lmao:

yay! I'm glad we'll be in WDW at the same time in Aug :) I'm jealous you will get to see HP but I really don't wanna be there with all the crazy ppl so I guess I'll wait a year or so until it dies down since I'm not a huge HP fan!

Oh cool, we will be there at the same time! Maybe your brother should talk to my sister since she is going to apply for the spring CP. haha

I am a little worried about HP being nuts but it's pretty much all we're going to do there.

Kidani is great but I still love SSR. :goodvibes It's so hard to pick a favorite since all the resorts are so unique.

I will definitely follow along with your TR for Christmas. :thumbsup2:santa:

Welcome! Thanks for posting. :) I always like seeing new readers.

I hope you get to stay at AKL sometime. It is so great!

LOL, well...atleast you are going to see the Christmas decorations. ;)

Public Service Announcement!

A TV special about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is on NBC right now!

haha me tooo... but only because i like theme parks... i never read any of the harry potters but part of me feels like i should... i never even saw the movies... does that make me a bad person... so not up to date with pop culture

I am watching it!

Wasn't it cool? I can't wait to go there. :cool1:

YES, you should totally read the books! I wasn't a big fan at first but now I really enjoy them. I've actually read most of them multiple times now.

August 8, 2010 cont'd (part 5)

After our short afternoon break it was off to the Magic Kingdom since we had an early ADR at Tony's. I was pretty excited to finally be able to eat there again. The last (and only) time we ever ate there was on one of our very first trips. The only thing I remember is that I got spaghetti and barely ate it because it was flat noodles instead of regular spaghetti noodles.:rolleyes:

When we got to the park I think we might've gone to check the attractions board...nothing with too terrible of a wait. Dad asked what I wanted to do so I suggested we go to Mickey's Toontown Fair. We don't get back there too often and with the new Fantasyland expansion it might've been the last time we ever see it which is actually kind of sad.

In Toontown we walked through Mickey's house. Love all the cute little details in there. Then we got into his garden where he's growing some pretty odd looking vegetables. ;)

Slowly we started heading back toward Main Street so we could get to dinner. I can't remember the exact time but I know it was early...there weren't too many times available when Dad called to make the ADR! But that was fine, we'd rather eat earlier than later. We didn't have to wait too long before we were seated. Our server took our drink orders and brought out some bread and olive oil to munch on before we got dinner. Mmm, it was really good. For dinner I ordered (what else?!) the spaghetti and meatballs and I think Dad got chicken parmesan? While we were waiting I took a picture of the cute Lady and the Tramp fountain in the dining room.

I also saw another server bringing out this dessert that was like a big ball of vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate. Mmmm, it looked so good and I really wanted to get one for dessert. It didn't take too long before our meals arrived. As you'd expect, the portions were huge! I got a BIG bowl of spaghetti and 3 meatballs. We both really enjoyed the food but I definitely couldn't eat it all. Sadly that meant no dessert. Dad and I were both stuffed. I know there are kind of some mixed reviews about Tony's on the DIS but we liked it. Any place that serves Italian food is good in my book. :thumbsup2 The service was good too...we were in and out pretty quickly. Dad thinks that's so they can squeeze in more people per night. haha

After our dinner we sat out on the porch by Tony's and called home. It turns out that mom and my sisters were going to go out to dinner too. It was also neat just kind of people watching while we were sitting there.

Since there was still a couple hours before Spectromagic and Wishes we went to do some more exploring. I spotted the Disney Dooney and Bourke stuff in the window of the jewelry store so I had to go take a look. I had been debating getting one after seeing so many people on here with them (SO CUTE) but didn't know if I wanted to spend that much money. In the end I didn't get it...I decided I'd wait and see if I still wanted to get it later in the trip. You'll have to wait and see what the decision was. popcorn::

On Main Street we spent some time looking at the windows and admiring some of the other details that we had read about in my Hidden Magic book. We found this little street, where you can hear someone doing tap lessons! It really is quite amazing all the details they put into the parks if you take the time to look/listen for them.

We continued on our way towards Tomorrowland. On the pathway near the Ice Cream Parlor, kind of approaching the noodle station, we saw a CM "painting" Mickey Mouse on the sidewalk. So cool! He also drew a Goofy. He had quite a group watching him. Just another fun little touch that adds to the magic. :goodvibes

I think we were able to fit in a couple more attractions before Spectromagic. Then we just found a spot near the hub to watch the parade. We didn't really care if we were right on the curb since we've seen it before. A view of the castle from where we were standing...the blue thing is some wand some kid had in front of us:

Sorry, no parade pictures since we were kind of far back. But it was so cute listening to and watching the little kids. There was this one little girl on her dad's shoulders who would call out whenever a new character would come by. She was so excited. And then there was another little boy who would wave to all the floats. Adorable. :goodvibes Such a neat parade but I think it's going to be neat seeing the Electrical Parade this summer!

While we waited for Wishes we stopped in a few more of the shops and then found a spot near the train station to watch the fireworks.

I don't think I'll ever forget the first time I saw Wishes. It was the last night of our trip and I pretty much just started sobbing. :rolleyes1 Don't laugh, I know I'm not the only one. ;) But again, it's a great show. I love the soundtrack and how the fireworks are synched to the music.

And a couple videos:

I like this one because you can see a mother and a father kind of rocking their kids to the music. AWWWWWW.

So it was another fun Disney day. When Wishes was over we headed back to Kidani to get some rest for our Animal Kingdom day! Ahh I'm so excited to write about the AK since that was the day we did the Backstage Safari Tour. Stay tuned for more!

Great update Sarah, and like most I tear up during Wishes too!! Tony's sounds good, that will have to go on our list too!!! Yeah that you started at PTR, I will have to head over there and post!!!:goodvibes

Aww I love the Lady & the Tramp statue in Tony's :)

I really want a Dooney & Bourke bag too- the white tote one is so cute! I bet you caved in and got a bag! ;)

A couple of additions to Sarah's report from Dad's perspective:

1. Our dinner reservation was actually for 6:40. We usually eat dinner earlier than that because we start our days so early, but I thought this would work well because we were probably going to stay for Spectromagic and Wishes. That's why were able to stay at DHS until after the Block Party Bash and still have time to go back to the AKL and freshen up before heading over to the MK.

2. I know Tony's gets a lot of criticism, but my dinner was real good. I'm sure it doesn't compare to top flight Italian restaurants in major cities, but I thought it compared pretty favorably to a place like Olive Garden.

3. As Sarah said, after dinner and calling home from Tony's porch, we spent some time looking at some of the hidden magic. This included looking more closely at a lot of the windows on Main Street. On our trip in January I bought a small book with pictures of a lot of the windows at WDW and Disneyland along with the stories behind them, so it was fun looking at the actual windows with this information in mind.

4. Before Spectromagic we also visited the Monsters Laugh Floor, which I enjoy every time. It's always fun to see how the people they single out of the audience react. We had virtually no wait to get in; we just had to wait about 5 minutes for the previous show to end. After the Laugh Floor we strolled up through Fantasyland and rode Small World with virtually no wait.

5. While we waited for Wishes, I spent some time going through the Main Street Railroad Station looking for some of the hidden magic in there. As always, the attention to detail is amazing.

Another great day!!!

Tony's!!! I always get the spaghetti and meatballs. How original are we?! I think the Lady and the Tramp fountain is so cute. We were lucky to get a table close to it last June.

Awesome! You found the tap dancing lessons window! We found it and had fun listening to it. We also heard the voice lessons.

You saw the D&B bags! Aren't they so cute? I can't wait to see what you decided.

Ahhh...Wishes. You had such a nice view! I admit, I am excited to see the new fireworks, but I will miss Wishes too.

We saw a CM 'painting' characters on the sidewalk too! That was really neat - it's a shame something so cute just had to evaporate though!

I've never eaten at Tony's, I'll have to try it sometime :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about the Backstage Safari Tour!

It was 6:40?!?! I don't remember it being that late. Who knows what I was thinking. :confused3

LOL, I love spaghetti so of course I would get it. We just have good taste. ;)

I think the D&B bags are super cute. When I told my dad the price he was like this: :scared1:

It will be fun to see something different in the summer. I can't remember where I saw this but I thought the fireworks were the ones from the Pirate and Princess Party. If they are, they are really good. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

We saw a CM 'painting' characters on the sidewalk too! That was really neat - it's a shame something so cute just had to evaporate though!

Can't wait to hear about the Backstage Safari Tour!

Tony's is good...if you go make sure to call as soon as you can because it fills up fast.

The backstage safari was AWESOME. :thumbsup2

thanks for the update... i showed adrina (my dd) the fireworks video you posted and sge was like ooooh fireworks!! (part of my brain washing scheme, make her see everything and anything disney)

cant wait to read more!! :)

yay I'm glad you decided to do a TR for in Aug! I of course already joined!

My family and I were in the hater category of Tonys. I think the elements the day we went were just off as well! It was in mid July when we were there and it was soooo stinking hot and we had a lunch there and the heavy food + being on the DDP+ the weather+ our service was not really great = a crappy meal!

We went to Mama Melrose in Dec and LOVED IT and enjoy the Italy one as well!

Great update! I love spending the evening in Magic Kingdom. Just browsing around Main Street and watching people is enough entertainment for me! Sounds like a great night. I'm excited to hear about your tourpopcorn::

Count me in as one who sobs at Wishes. I think it's the little voice near the end that sends me over.

I'm not a huge Italian fan and DH doesn't like it at all so I don't see Tony's in my forseeable future, although I did look at it for Christmas. You've given me an idea however.... I've heard sitting outside Tony's to watch the parades is a great spot. With great timing, we just might be able to grab the yummy dessert you mentioned and have some prime viewing!

I cannot wait to hear about your Backstage Safari Tour!
