"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

A possible summer trip sounds awesome. Hope everything works out for you.

I'm back and caught up.

Sounds like a fun day at DHS-You really did a lot of things. I love that you got to draw Jiminy Cricket at Animation Academy. :) You did a good job-it's amazing how you can just draw shapes on top on each other, and come out with something that resembles the character. I'm certainly no artist, but I can recognize all the characters I've drawn while there. The instructors really do a good job.

All caught up again! :thumbsup2 A summer trip sounds fantastic. There are some significant pros to changing. It was hot and humid last week but it was very manageable. Let us know if your plans become firm. :goodvibes

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was so disappointed to here they're gone now. I missed Bolt and Up. :sad2:

Thanks for the info on this! Definately scheduling this in... your drawing is excellent and a wonderful keepsake. Love that it's hanging proudly on the fridge!

Another must do! Missed this last trip. Not sure I'll want it to rain in November though.... ;)

Can't wait to hear about Tony's...... and a possible August trip? :woohoo: Take a few days off FB and I miss everything! :rotfl: You know how do-able August is and it's right around the corner!

I missed Bolt too. Grrr.

You're welcome! I know you'll enjoy the animation academy.

haha, maybe you won't want any rain in November. But it's still cool to see if it's working. :)

I know, that is what's so crazy, we have never planned a trip that quickly. August is only 2 months away!

You can't go until you finish your trip report from the last trip.

Then I guess we aren't going.

Hey Sarah! I am all caught up now! You sure do have some packed park days. I guess I am accustomed to how the boys like to go through the parks. Plus, they walk it, so we don't travel very fast..especially since my 3yo will not ride in a stroller. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you an your sister to have the summer trip.

Hi there! We really did pack it in. It does help when there aren't any kids in the group...we weren't always like that though!

Hi Sarah!!:goodvibes

I got behind...but all caught up now!!:thumbsup2

Great AIE pictures!! We still haven't made it there yet! Which is really surprising since I'm such a huge AI fan! Yay Lee!!;)

Great job on drawing Jiminy Cricket! Sorry you didn't get to see the UP characters.:sad2: I love that movie!!:lovestruc

Oh and Yay for a possible summer trip!!:yay::yay:I know when we went last August I was so worried because of the heat and especially the hurricanes. But it was a great trip! Hot...yes...but the crowds and wait times for the rides were good. It was definitely doable!!:thumbsup2

Ahh, you still haven't done AIE?! More reason to go back! If you love the show you'll really get a kick out of AIE. Did you see that Lee was there the other day?! So jealous of the people who saw him.

I love Up too, that's why it was kind of a bummer I didn't get to see the characters. Oh well, I'll get over it.

We were kind of worried too but like you said, it was doable. :thumbsup2

Thanks...it's sounding like we will be going over the summer!

Welcome back!

It really is amazing how the characters come together. It almost made me want to get one of those drawing books. haha!

I will definitely let you know...I think Dad was going to call today to change the reservations for August and block off some days in January for him and mom to go. Gotta love DVC. I'm sure you already know that! ;)

Thursday, April 8, 2010 cont'd (part 4)

After a busy morning and afternoon at DHS we headed back to Kidani for a rest. We also needed to get ready for our dinner over at Tony's! When we got back to Kidani we decided to check out the savannah since we hadn't (well, I hadn't really...Dad went out a lot each morning to check out the animals) spent a lot of time out there.

There was a really nice CM out there who said hello and asked us if we had any questions. They are all so eager to share everything they know which is cool. :thumbsup2 There were quite a few animals out on the savannah. Very exciting! Sorry for all the giraffe pictures but they are my favorite. ;)

I also had to snap a picture of the lodge. Pretty cool, isn't it??

After a few minutes Dad went back to our room but I decided to stay outside for a while. Seriously, I could watch the animals all afternoon. It just amazes me that they are right there, so close to you! And let me tell you I am so glad I decided to stay out. They keepers were getting ready for feeding time, putting all the browse out on the savannah. So even though there were a lot of animals out there already there were even more starting to come out! It was AWESOME! I think this is probably one of my favorite pictures from the whole trip:

:goodvibes:goodvibes

And in case you aren't sick of the giraffes already I'll throw in another one for good measure.

As I was enjoying the animals, there was a little girl who came out too and started talking to me. I don't really remember what we talked about but I could tell she thought it was pretty cool we could watch the animals. In the mean time, the CMs switched over too so a new guy came out. His name was Robert and I believe I heard one of the other CMs say he was from Uganda??? He was super nice. He said hi and then asked where I was from. I told him Wisconsin and he was wondering where that was. Stupid me, I'm sure it's not too common to hear of Wisconsin in Uganda. Anyways, I told him how it was up north and where it was cold. LOL. I think then he started asking about snow because he told me he had never seen it before. He was so curious about it and was wondering when it stops snowing and "when the grass turns green." hehe Then he asked if we had a zoo where we were from which of course I said yes! Our zoo is pretty cool here, actually. So he was asking if it was anything like the savannah. It was pretty cool talking to him, I almost felt bad leaving. :guilty: But we did have to get over to the MK for our dinner reservation. A few more pictures of the animals:

So my tip for anyone who ever stays at AKL/Kidani: Go out to the savannahs in midafternoon if you want to get a great opportunity to see the animals. They were sooo close to the viewing decks too. AMAZING. :thumbsup2

Believe it or not, those weren't the only animals I saw. When I got back up to our room we had a few neighbors outside too. I can't remember exactly what we decided these were. I will have to look at my Animal Field Guide.

Pretty cool! Definitely a highlight of the trip. :thumbsup2

up next: An evening at the Magic Kingdom

Wow, LOVE the giraffe pics!!

Aw..that CM sounds adorable! I love running into nice ones like that.

I think we figured out from the field guides and cast menbers at the hotel that the striped antelope-like animals that were often right below our window are called "nyalas".

Our room overlooked the Pembe Savannah, and the giraffes and zebras are on the Sunset Savannah on the other side of the building. Beside the nyalas, we had some other interesting animals to look at. There were some red river hogs and some larger horned antelope called "waterbucks". There was always a lot of activity in the late afternoon just after the trucks with the food came through.

Aw. Robert the CM sounds so nice.

What kind of bird is in this picture? They're so tall! And they have giant beaks! If I ever saw one in person, I think I'd have a panic attack. :scared1:

I think those birds are some kind of stork.

This post makes me so excited for our October trip when we get to stay at Kidani! We may just spend our whole day there! All of those giraffe pictures are just awesome!

Your trip sounds like a lot of fun!

I was just amazed that there were so many giraffes out there! I think there was one night too when we were coming back from somewhere and all 5 or 6 of them were out there eating. So neat.

I enjoyed our conversation. :thumbsup2
