"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

Great find in the TSM queue. I never spotted Nemo before! I don't know how you can stomach ToT AND RNRC. I used to be able to do ToT but recently been to terrified to go on it again. I've never been on RNRC since it goes upside down. Is it really that bad though? How many loops are there?

Great update, I love pics of DHS, it's one of my favorite parks.

I've never been on the stand-by TSM line yet, I always rush to get a FP. The queue line looks so cute though that I will definitely get on line first and then a FP after.

Ahh yes, I remember my first ride on ToT! My legs were shaking, too!

We suspected that, because of the holiday crowds, they might open the park before the official 9 AM opening time, and that's what happened. We got through the turnstiles at about 8:30, and the TSM stampede began at about 8:45. (Without getting ahead of Sarah's report, the same thing happened at each of the parks for the rest of the trip.)

I like getting to the parks early, but the rope drop at DHS makes me a little crazy. Because of the park layout they can't control the horde as well as they do at the other parks, and the rush through the arch and the turn to TSM is just nuts. It's hard to avoid stepping on people ahead of you and/or getting stepped on from behind. But, as usual, we managed to make it before the line at TSM backed up. As Sarah said, they let us further into the park before rope drop than usual. There was a clear separation between the people headed down Hollywood Boulevard to TOT and RNRR and those heading to TSM.

Great update! I'm currently having the dilema of how to do Toy Story Mania. Should I get a fastpass first and then ride or vice versa. I'm actually thinking we'll go straight to the ride at rope drop. That seemed to work great for you.

We are staunch advocates of riding first and then getting FP's as we exit. So many people go right for FP's, so the line for those builds up faster than the ride line. We were in and out of the ride in about 10 minutes and when we got out we only had to wait for a minute or two to get FP's. It was nothing like the line that we saw in August when we got off the ride. Our FP return was for about 11:45, and we'd rather ride twice a few hours apart than twice in a row.

Isn't there just something about early mornings in Disney? There is just something so peaceful and serene about a Disney Morning!!!! :lovestruc

We love Disney mornings, but that stampede to TSM is not so peaceful or serene. I'm always glad to get that behind me.

Great update!!:thumbsup2 Love all the pictures at DHS! I'm glad to hear that riding TSM first then getting fastpasses worked for you! We have never rode TSM stand-by yet so we've never seen Mr. Potato Head.:sad2: Hoping to next trip! Very cool to see Nemo!!!:goodvibes

LOVE RnRC - it may be my favorite Disney thrill ride, it's hard to choose just one though!

Sounds like you're having a great morning, getting the 3 'big' attractions done early :thumbsup2

Great update Sarah!! Good job getting those 3 big attractions out of the way so quickly!!!

BTW, good Brewers/Twins series this weekend!! I couldn't believe how long the game on Saturday went!! It was so exciting!!

nice update :) I"m not in WDW right now...I wish!!! I'll be there in Aug though so I guess I"ll have my turn and I was just there in March so I shouldn't complain haha!

I wish too! I shouldn't be complaining either since we were just there. It seems like so long ago though... That is how Disney spoiled I have become.

I'm still here too... not in WDW :sad1:
(but I'm going in like 3 weeks, so I shouldn't really complain :cutie:)

Great update!!

I've never seen Nemo in the line at TSM either. I'll have to look for him! We love finding all those hidden things. We keep saying we'll get a book for the next trip, but we never do.

We even got the hidden mickey book as a Christmas present, and then accidentally left it at home. :confused3

We always ride the single rider line at RNRC too. It's so much faster. DH and I are usually in the same car as well. Though one day it would be nice to actually sit next to him on the ride :)

3 weeks?! Not fair. LOL. Have fun!!

You should get the book. It is really interesting and we enjoyed looking for the hidden secrets. We did the same thing with the hidden Mickey book though on one trip! We brought all our books this time but didn't really use them.

Well I'm still here!!! I won't be walking the streets of Disney still December!!! Anyway! Great update and loving the pics! Isn't there just something about early mornings in Disney? There is just something so peaceful and serene about a Disney Morning!!!! :lovestruc

I hope I am walking the streets of Disney in December. We'll have to see what happens with my sister and the CP. We are hoping she will get accepted.

Gotta love Disney mornings! I love having the whole day ahead of us. :thumbsup2

Great update! :thumbsup2

Man, I wish I could be at WDW now.........

Thanks!

Oh, so do I. :guilty:

Great update Sarah! We had the same experience on Tuesday of that week: they let us in earlier, further up the street, and no opening show. It must be their super crowded week plan.

I really like your ride first and then get FP's plan. I think we will try it that way this summer!!:thumbsup2

RnRC is now one of my faves!!

When are you done with school? My kids don't leave until June 18th and that seems forever from now!!

See my dad's comment: We are staunch advocates of riding first and then getting FP's as we exit. So many people go right for FP's, so the line for those builds up faster than the ride line. We were in and out of the ride in about 10 minutes and when we got out we only had to wait for a minute or two to get FP's. I definitely agree with this. There's no point waiting in line for a fastpass when you could get one ride done right away.

We were are HWS that day too! I'm jealous that you got to ride RNRC. When we went over there, the line had an hour wait, and the fastpasses were for too late.

That is funny we were there the same day. Wonder if we saw you at all. hehe Bummer about RNRC though!

I am not in WDW--yet! Ask me again on Thursday, lol!

I've been packing today, but I'm taking a break out on the patio right now watching DH fill up Tiki Torches!

You guys are on a roll for accomplishing a lot in a little time! I'll have to look for that Nemo...

Ohhh, don't rub it in. ;)

Yup, it is always a bonus when you can get all the major attractions done quickly. :thumbsup2

Haha, WOW, Weird and I did not see where they have the park maps for DHS at all. We were on our way to Toy Story Mania (that route we memorized) when we realized we didn't know where anything else was! That was the park that we NEEDED the map, so we had to find one later on from a souvenir stop.

I wish we had done what you did - ride first and then get FP. I thought that it'd be okay to get FP first and then just enjoy the queue, but gosh, I mean, I know it's a great queue with cool designs and all, but I just couldn't stand that long!

Hmm, I should really get back to writing my TR, haha. But I still have book reports to grade!!! AGHHHH, the inner conflicts ...

LOL, oops!

We actually waited one night for stand-by. It was somewhere around an hour which was kind of annoying but at the same time it wasn't all that bad. I'd rather have a short wait though.

Only a couple more weeks left Rachel! :woohoo:

Great find in the TSM queue. I never spotted Nemo before! I don't know how you can stomach ToT AND RNRC. I used to be able to do ToT but recently been to terrified to go on it again. I've never been on RNRC since it goes upside down. Is it really that bad though? How many loops are there?

I LOVE Tower of Terror and RNRC! Especially TOT. Part of what makes it so fun is the theming and then seeing other people's reactions. My mom was sort of the same way...I guess she rode it once and said she liked it but then she never got on it again. :confused3

I am not one who really cares for loops on roller coasters either but because it's in the dark it's not so bad. I have to admit I'll still close my eyes every once in a while. I think there's only 2 loops and then the corkscrew.

Great update, I love pics of DHS, it's one of my favorite parks.

The queue is pretty impressive and there's so much to look at...the details are amazing: like some of the crayons are worn down like Andy has used them more than others. :)

Mr. Potato Head is pretty entertaining when he is working. I think for a little bit he was broken. haha

RNRC is quickly climbing my list of favorites. :thumbsup2

Yeah, it was great to get those done and then we could kind of relax and do whatever else we felt like.

Oh boy, the Brewers...I have become a bandwagon fan I think. Still love the team but when you lose all the time...:mad::mad: I can't believe they actually won yesterday. Hopefully they'll win Sunday when we go (though that is unlikely since they are even WORSE at home ).

Hmm, guess that is their plan for when it's really busy! I don't ever remember them doing that.

I'd definitely suggest riding first and then getting FPs. There weren't very many people in front of us at all. I think we pretty much just walked right through and then only had to wait a little bit before loading.

The last day here is June 10. Then I'll have a week off before starting to teach summer school. I am counting down the days, believe me! LOL.

DHS My favorite park, and favorite rides. Wow you really did well getting on the big three so quickly. How does it work with the RNRC? You get a group return time? I haven't heard about this at all. We have been riding the single rider line on our most recent trips, I really don't mind it at all.

I love TSM, so much fun. :rotfl: The que(sp?) area is so cute and well themed.

I will be going to the game Sunday too, not sure where we will be sitting though. Hopefully the Brewers will start improving soon..........

I'll be checking for All Star Merchandise, have you been to the large gift shop near Fridays at the park? I love the different sections they added. Check it out when you are there.

I still don't get why the line was so long in August

When we went in August we noticed ALOT of foreigners there. Speaking with a nice British family they told us that alot of foreigners travel in August, I think in Europe they get alot of time off. Talking with the British family they were going to be in Disney I think for 4 WEEKS! :scared1:

They really are having a bad season so far! I think because they got ride of J.J. Hardy :rotfl: I really liked him.

The odd thing about that August is that the line for FP's after we rode TSM was SO MUCH longer than it was on any of the other trips we have taken since TSM opened. The park itself was no busier than it was in December '08 and significantly less busy than it was on this latest trip. I have now done the exact same thing at DHS rope drop 4 different times, and the other 3 times when we finished riding, there were only about 4 or 5 people ahead of us in line for FP's. But that one time the line stretched back almost all the way to the Little Mermaid Theatre. I almost wonder if the FP system was down for a few minutes to create that kind of backup.

2 updates all caught up!

Love shopping! and just looking. We plan to use that AP discount.

Love the resort pics, and the video of the savanna.

TSM is crazy but we have to ride it.

We do not do RNRC :sad2:

Great updates looking forward to more

:goodvibes

Yeah, you are given a tour group number and then a time. I don't know too much about it since we didn't try it. But I know they were testing it a while back too to see how it works. It seemed like an interesting concept.

haha, I sure hope they start improving soon! We were at my cousin's house Saturday and one of them said they can only turn it around now. :rotfl::rolleyes: We'll be in our usual seats up in the terrace!

We have been in the gift shop there but not recently. We will have to check it out...still hoping to get that AS Mickey. hehe

Hmm, that could be it then. I know there was one girl on here who used to post her TRs (she was from England) and she would stay for 3 1/2 weeks. It was so cool reading her TRs because they would do Disney World, Sea World, Universal, and other Florida destinations all in one trip. Can't imagine how much that would cost but I bet it would be a blast.

:rotfl: I hear JJ Hardy is hurt though. He was my favorite too...I had 2 of those t-shirt jerseys for him. I don't think I will ever buy another one because the players I get always end up getting hurt and/or traded.

Shopping in WDW is always fun. :thumbsup2

We love TSM too...it's one of our favorites.

Aww, you don't do RNRC? It's a great ride!

Great update! I love the pictures of Hollywood Boulevard. The detail on those buildings is amazing.

And yay TSM. The Green Army Men have never been out when I've ridden it. Maybe I'll finally get to see one this summer! *Fingers Crossed*

I'm behind on your TR, but working on catching up!

We missed out on the bird show but I remember seeing it when I went with Mom 11 yrs ago and thought that it was pretty impressive then. We also skipped Dinosaur because I have heard it can be scary for kids and I figured we'd just not even go there. Khali had a super long wait and we never ended up getting to ride it. I had Flametree on my list but we ended up skipping lunch, so didn't get that either! Sounds like you had a pretty good AK day!

OK, just watched the video of the parade!

We missed out on the parade and the castle show but I am ROFLMBO at that video! That is hilarious. Wish we'd seen it!
