"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

I wonder if they have those Mickey shirts in Pro Football Teams... I'm not a college girl (I went Valpo...we only had basketball!) but I'd love a Philadelphia Eagles one!

Yeah, that's pretty much all my school has too. But we love our basketball team. :thumbsup2

What a packed but fun first day you had! I love those Mickey college shirts too, but unfortunately they don't have a Sooners one :sad2:

Part of me feels like I saw an Oklahoma one but maybe I am just thinking of the Ohio State one since they are the same colors and have a big O as a logo. Maybe they'll come out with one!

The Mickey college t-shirts are very cute! I'll never see my college on a shirt, it's too small haha. So I definitely think Disney should explore making the shirts for NFL and MLB teams :)

That would be cool too! I know they have pins for a few MLB teams but they are only the big market ones.

Boy, that was a busy, but GREAT day. In a way we didn't have any breaks, but the monorail rides, WHW, Boardawalk and bus rides did provide a change of pace.

It's really something to think that we did all of that stuff and still were back to the hotel by about 8PM, only 14 hours after we left. If we had been out to prove something, we could easily have done something else, like return to Epcot for Illuminations. But, after being up so early two days in a row, the early return and relaxation set us up to be in good shape the next day. And, with DHS opening officially at 9 AM, we knew we could sleep a little later on Thursday.

Sometime we should go for all 4 parks in one day.

Welcome Home Wednesday sounds fun! I hope we make it over there. Your pictures of the Boardwalk are so pretty!

I had to You Tube the Full House Disney episodes, but I do vaguely remember them...I used to watch that all the time so I don't know where I was when these were on TV. Maybe I had to push those out of my brain to make room for other things. :confused3

What a great first day!

Thanks!

LOL about the Full House episodes. I don't know if it's possible for me to push them out of my brain.

I love that U of M shirt! I hope they still have it when I go in September.

Isn't it cute?! I was soooo happy to see that when we got there. There was another UM shirt at the Tren-D store but it seemed really cheap (though the price was not cheap at all!).

That's so cool that the UM shirt ended up coming out! I wish they'd have them with NFL teams or other pro teams since I'm not a big college sports girl but definitely love me some NY Yankees and NY Giants :thumbsup2

You guys got so much done in one day!!

Ahhh Kidani...I miss it there so much :cloud9:

MLB/NFL ones would be cool. I don't know if they'd ever make a Brewers shirt but I think the Packers would make a good choice for the NFL since they have a pretty big following even outside WI.

We sure did!

I miss Kidani too. I want to go back!!!

That UM shirt is cute!

I can't believe how much you got done in one day! That's awesome. I hope we can replicate your success in June!

Count me as a "bad Wisconsinite" too... :rolleyes1

I know, it's pretty crazy, isn't it? I hope you can do a lot on your trip too!

Great update!:thumbsup2 Wow! You really accomplished a lot your first day! Love the UM shirt!! Very cool!!:goodvibes

Thanks Angie!

Love the shirt! You must be pretty powerful getting them to create it for you;) Love all the pictures of AKV too. Can't wait to stay there in October!

LOL yes, I know, I like to think it was all me. :rotfl: You will love AKV!

 I just found those Mickey shirts on the Disney Store website a few days ago. I was SHOCKED that there's an Ohio State version. We barely give our merchandising rights to anyone. But I will DEFINITELY be buying one of those in July. I thought about ordering it from the website, but Disney's sizing is so weird that I'd rather see it in person. But atleast I'll have it before football season starts. :thumbsup2

PS: Michigan's lack of a football team the past few years is GREAT. I hope it stays like that forever. ;)

Good choice on waiting...I actually just ordered some pajamas from the Disney Store site thinking I got the right size since I have some other pjs the exact same size. Well, I get them and no joke, I could've fit me AND my sisters in them they were so big.

Ohhhhh, OUCH!

So....I'm REALLY late to the party. Not just fashionably late as usual. ;) 28 pages late! But, I'm here! And I WILL catch up. I'm looking forward to it all!

HEY!!! Welcome, Brook!

I got all caught up! :yay: Surprisingly, Henry is enjoying playing by himself today, so that allowed me a good amount of DIS time. Loving the TR! You two are getting so much done! It's nice to be able to cruise through the attractions when you are a small party. And WOOT WOOT on the Michigan shirt! That shirt is really cute!!! :thumbsup2

Wow, all caught up already?! Glad you are enjoying it so far. Still a long ways to go before this TR is done.

I love those Mickey college shirts! That's cool they have a Michigan one now!

Okay, please explain the whole vinylmation thing to me. I don't get it! :flower3:

I thought it was so cool to see a Michigan one.

haha, sure. Vinylmation is those little plastic (or vinyl) Mickey Mouse figurines. I found out about it before our trip in August and thought they were kind of cool. They basically have all these different sets of Mickeys (think kind of like the statues they had for the 100 years of Magic outside the MK several years ago). The big thing is though they are packaged in blind boxes so you don't know which one you're going to get which makes it exciting and kind of frustrating, haha. My sister and I got a couple in August and are HOOKED! It's as bad as pin trading. Here's a pic of the cases from August. They pretty much sell them everywhere now!

That was one super packed day Sarah! I love that UM shirt. I hope to find one while I'm down there. Thanks for scoping it out and posting about it. :thumbsup2

P.S. Love the Kidani pics as well! :goodvibes

All caught up. I love all the things you did on your first day. I agree with your Dad, taking time to ride the monorail and the bus gives you both a break. What a great room your DS and parents had on their trip. Maybe some day....

I must admit I am not into collecting pins, so I don't think I would like to collect the vinylmation either. They are cute, but I have so much "stuff" at my house already. Can't wait to hear about your DHS day:wizard:.

Did you happen to see the "Pixar" episode on cakes on the Food Network? One of the chef's made a replica of the TSM ride, and did an amazing job on the ride vehicle. So cute.

Hmmm, M for Michigan or M for Marquette. :)

You mentioned how you don't know anyone who farms?
My mom's brother's, nephew's etc., run a mega farm. Anytime you want a tour, just let me know.

Great updates Sarah!! I LOVE the FH flashbacks...one of my favorite parts was when DJ saw Steve in the GF lobby and they ran to eachother and Steve trips and falls (I also wondered how a kid like that could afford the GF, but whatever...)!

We took advantage of the Disney Visa pic too, it's a nice little perk!! Great pictures of all the aquariums in the Seas...I need to spend more time in there than we have in the past!!!

Love your trip report!
i'll admit you had me from the lyrics in your first post! That's my favorite Lady Antebellum song from their second album! Perfect Day. <333
oh and do i get bonus points now? :P
i love Full House also. I think i can quote every episode. the disney one is the best!
I can't wait for more installments! :wizard:

Those Mickey college shirts are too cute! I totally want a UNC one... I must look into it now

The UNC one is cute. I've always liked their Carolina blue color.

I know, it was very packed...not every day was like that though but we did have some pretty busy days.

I kind of figured you'd like the Kidani pictures. SOOOO soon now! :cloud9::woohoo:

Yeah, they loved that room at the BW. I think it is now my mom's favorite resort.

I have a lot of "stuff" too...when I finally get my own place it is going to be very Disney. :rolleyes1

I didn't see that but I bet it was awesome. I'll have to look and see if it's on again. Those shows are always entertaining and a Disney themed one would be cool!

Hmmm, M for Michigan or M for Marquette. :)

My mom's brother's, nephew's etc., run a mega farm. Anytime you want a tour, just let me know.

haha, that is true. Plus Michigan and Marquette have very similar colors so it all works out. :)

Yeah, I think the only time I've even been to a farm was in elementary school as a field trip. And then the "farm" at the zoo. OK, now I'm going to sound like an idiot, but what is a mega farm? Just like a really big farm? :rolleyes1

:rotfl: We always laugh at that part. The thing that always bothers us is how they were able to just pack up and go and get a room at the GF.

Cool you got the Visa picture too! I'd like to keep going to that as long as they have it.

Aww, thanks! You can get some bonus points for knowing the lyrics AND for saying it sort of had you hooked. ;) Lady Antebellum is awesome.

Thanks for reading...stay tuned for more!

DTD is never a planned day for us either. But considering there's so much to see, I really think it should be! I don't think I've ever been to the West Side. That'll be a must do when I'm there with Weird.

Woohoo for getting your shirt!

Oh my gosh, what if you ended up getting the same one more than once?! That would make me so mad! :headache:

Yeah, it was interesting going to the West Side. I would like to do the Characters in Flight balloon sometime.

haha, I know that is what stinks about it. Luckily I've only gotten a couple and haven't got any multiples. I think I read they just started having trading like you can do with pins.

Well I'm pretty sure half my readers are in WDW right now so hopefully there's still somebody left reading this. Sorry for the delay in updates...I've been busy with school/work and other stuff. Yesterday we got to see my cousin's baby for the first time. :goodvibes Anyways...back to the TR! Finally onto day #2!

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Thursday we had plans to go to Hollywood Studios. Luckily the park didn't open until 9:00 so we were able to sleep in a little bit which was nice after the last two early EARLY mornings! We ate a quick breakfast in the room and headed out to the bus stop.

An early morning picture of Kidani. The sun was in kind of a bad spot but oh well! It was going to be another great day. :thumbsup2

I don't think we waited too long for a bus before we were on our way. When we got to the turnstiles at DHS the lines were already pretty long (back to the ticket windows). Dad has a theory--or maybe it's not really a theory--that once the crowds hit the ticket windows they'll start letting people into the park. Within a few minutes we were on Hollywood Boulevard! I think every time I go to DHS now I'm going to think of my cousin since she's doing her internship there.

Some of the other sights of the morning...

As you can see in this picture they let the crowd up a little further than usual, atleast in our experiences.

We saw these guys who were ready to start filming a movie...

There was no opening show this morning, just the announcement that the park was officially opening. Where would our first stop be? As if there is any question what the answer is...Toy Story Mania! Our goal was to ride first and then get a fastpass on the way out. In August we were blown away by how long the FP line was when we got out. I kid you not, it was almost to the theater where the Little Mermaid show is. We were hoping it would be a little less crowded this time.

So along with the masses, we headed to Pixar Place. The one thing that is kind of annoying is when big groups get separated because somebody has to race ahead to hold their spot in line and then all the others catch up to meet them. Grrr. As we were getting in line we were greeted by one of the Green Army Men who told us to "MOVE IT, MOVE IT!" haha

We were able to move pretty quickly through the queue. We saw Mr. Potato Head...
28667_636192428314_20305212_36717053_7788390_n.jpg

I also found Nemo! (one of the other things I read about in the Hidden Magic book). He was on the wall right before the spot where you pick up your 3D glasses.

28667_636192433304_20305212_36717054_4130623_n.jpg

The ride was a blast as usual. Dad ended up beating me...I got way behind at the very beginning (yes, I checked the scores after every game) and had no chance to catch up.:mad: Boo! Luckily we were able to get some fastpasses when we were done, so I would have another opportunity to seek revenge. I think our return time was around noon which wasn't bad.

After TSM we headed back toward Sunset Boulevard for some big thrills...Tower of Terror and Rock 'N Roller Coaster! I still remember the first time I rode these two. I rode them back-to-back and when we got off RNRC I had such jelly legs. LOL. I was pretty terrified of both but now they are two of my favorites. Tower of Terror was first.

28667_636192443284_20305212_36717056_173432_n.jpg

The wait was pretty minimal here which was good. And just like always it was lots of fun.

Next up was RNRC. At first we thought it was broken down since there seemed to be a lot of people crowded around but it turns out they were doing the test of the new queuing system again. I remember reading about this in someone else's TR...I'm pretty sure it was Meeko's. Basically they will assign you to a "tour group" with an assigned time for you to come back. So in a way it's almost like a fastpass only not really. We ended up going for the single riders line though. We were pretty much able to walk right into the record studio.

28667_636192448274_20305212_36717057_2748193_n.jpg

The thing that is interesting about single riders is that even though they say you'll be split up, sometimes you're really not. Dad and I were still in the same car but I was just a few rows back. Awesome ride. If Dad had his way he would just do the launch over and over again. He says that is the best part. haha

So within an hour and a half or so we were able to get 3 big attractions done. Woo hoo! What would be next though...?

nice update :) I"m not in WDW right now...I wish!!! I'll be there in Aug though so I guess I"ll have my turn and I was just there in March so I shouldn't complain haha!

I'm still here too... not in WDW :sad1:
(but I'm going in like 3 weeks, so I shouldn't really complain :cutie:)

Great update!!

I've never seen Nemo in the line at TSM either. I'll have to look for him! We love finding all those hidden things. We keep saying we'll get a book for the next trip, but we never do.

We even got the hidden mickey book as a Christmas present, and then accidentally left it at home. :confused3

We always ride the single rider line at RNRC too. It's so much faster. DH and I are usually in the same car as well. Though one day it would be nice to actually sit next to him on the ride :)

Well I'm still here!!! I won't be walking the streets of Disney still December!!! Anyway! Great update and loving the pics! Isn't there just something about early mornings in Disney? There is just something so peaceful and serene about a Disney Morning!!!! :lovestruc

Great update! I'm currently having the dilema of how to do Toy Story Mania. Should I get a fastpass first and then ride or vice versa. I'm actually thinking we'll go straight to the ride at rope drop. That seemed to work great for you.

We were are HWS that day too! I'm jealous that you got to ride RNRC. When we went over there, the line had an hour wait, and the fastpasses were for too late.

I am not in WDW--yet! Ask me again on Thursday, lol!

I've been packing today, but I'm taking a break out on the patio right now watching DH fill up Tiki Torches!

You guys are on a roll for accomplishing a lot in a little time! I'll have to look for that Nemo...

Haha, WOW, Weird and I did not see where they have the park maps for DHS at all. We were on our way to Toy Story Mania (that route we memorized) when we realized we didn't know where anything else was! That was the park that we NEEDED the map, so we had to find one later on from a souvenir stop.

I wish we had done what you did - ride first and then get FP. I thought that it'd be okay to get FP first and then just enjoy the queue, but gosh, I mean, I know it's a great queue with cool designs and all, but I just couldn't stand that long!

Hmm, I should really get back to writing my TR, haha. But I still have book reports to grade!!! AGHHHH, the inner conflicts ...
