"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

You knocked out a lot of major attractions by 8am Sarah! I need find the tips on how to get a big score on Buzz. Joe would never expect it and it would be awesome to beat him just once.

Can't wait to hear where you headed next!popcorn::

That's impressive for one hour Sarah! Getting to the MK at 7Am does a girl and her dad good! There used to be a thread on the disboards that gave you tips on where to find the big point targets. I read that, and surprised Bryan for one of our trips. He was shocked and still to this day believes I am cheating somehow.

YES! I agree that it's great being a party of 2! It came in handy for Weird and me when we went to Toy Story Mania.

Disneyland lasers are user-friendly because ... they aren't attached? Haha, I think part of the game is struggling with moving that laser cannon around! I actually remember to look for and shoot the big claw in the first room. That was the best one for me (and for some reason, easier to consistently aim for than the back of the orange robot's hand).

Next you're heading to ... Frontierland?

It helped us out at Toy Story Mania too. :thumbsup2

That is exactly why they are user-friendly! You can pick them up and move them around so much easier, plus they will light up if you hit a target if I am remembering correctly. I think a trip to Disneyland needs to be made so I can just double check on that.

hehe, guess you'll just have to wait and see...;)

:yay: YAY for getting four things done before the park had officially opened!

I'm like you, I didn't notice that much different with SM either.

The biggest thing is that they have the ride photos now!

I didn't notice any changes in SM either... I think they just changed the queue and I could tell some lighting differences

Wow, you got a lot done in one hour!

Yup, we sure did. It was awesome.

4 rides in an hour is great! I didn't realize that morning EMHs were so good. Might have to pull myself out of bed for one sometime.

I'm so bad a Buzz. I'll have to remember - orange robot for the future....maybe I might actually beat DH one of these days...

I agree with you 100% We usually skip Astro Orbiter, because 2 adults is bad enough - when one of those adults is...um...."fluffy" well it's just awful!

I'm guessing that a ride on BTMR is in your immediate future :cutie:

We LOVE EMH. They're already great, but there was one time we went when it was kind of rainy in the morning so we were able to do even more. It's definitely worth getting up early especially during peak seasons.

What made it even more unfair was that there were a couple kids who were riding alone. Grrrr. Oh well.

Hmm, you might be right about BTMRR! hehe

Wow, 4 rides in an hour!! That is great!

I stink at Buzz! Last year though I hit "something" and lookie!!!

I hit first then Joe hit. So, will this ever happen again..............NOT! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Sometimes I do OK on Buzz, other times not so good. I blame it on the gun.

haha, that happened to my dad once. He has no idea what he hit but he maxed out! Crazy.

That's great you were able to get 4 rides done in an hour!!!:thumbsup2 Don't you just love morning EMH? :goodvibes

I'm guessing you make your way over to Frontierland next? popcorn::

We sure do love EMH. :thumbsup2

Another guess for Frontierland. haha

Awesome that it's 8:00 and you've already knocked out Tomorrowland! I've never actually ridden Astro Orbiter. In fact I don't think my kids even know it is a ride:confused3

Astro Orbiter is pretty fun. I've heard a lot of parents just tell their kids it's like Dumbo or the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Your kids should try it. :)

:surfweb: subbing. I'm loving it so far :)

Welcome! And congrats on your Disney wedding coming up so soon. :cloud9:

Gotta love AM EMH's at Mk...can't beat how much you can get done.:thumbsup2
We haven't ridden Astro Orbiter since Jan. '06. Maybe we'll squeeze it in this trip. DH and DS loved Space Mountain. DH said changes were minimal that he could tell but he felt like the ride was smoother. I'm hoping to ride this summer and see for myself!

I love Space Mountain too. Like I said, it's a classic!

The only other tip I can give is to shoot for the targets that are farther away though that doesn't work for me since I can't aim. Let me know if you find any tips.

Hmm, think you could find that thread again? My sisters and I might enjoy reading that since we all say we stink. LOL.

nice update!! I can't remember the last time I was at MK for opening or EMH. It seems when we plan we are always there at night but you can get so much done at AM EMH esp. in Fantasyland!

Wow 4 rides in one hour? That's great! I'm sure you were happy with yourselves later in the day when the park got more crowded that you had gotten them done early :thumbsup2

I haven't ridden Astro Orbiter since I was like 11...if the line isn't long, I'll be riding in July now that you just mentioned it! I'm excited to see the MK from up high in the sky :goodvibes

All caught up, looking forward to more!!! :) 4 rides in one hour!! It can be done!! because you did it!!

Yes! You got to ride Space! What did you think of the scenes when you're on the ramp exiting?

I really hope they do change the Buzz things to be like Disneyland!

Yeah, that's why we love EMH so much! It's so great being able to do so many attractions in such a short amount of time.

We knew it was going to get more crowded later in the afternoon so our plan was to get there early and leave early. It worked out great!

haha, you and tinkgurl should ride Astro Orbiter together. :teeth:

Yes, 4 rides sure can be done in an hour!

Ummm...honestly I don't remember the scenes towards the exit that much. :rolleyes1 At the time I thought they changed them a little bit...am right on that? LOL.

I hope so too, that would be awesome. :thumbsup2

Hey everyone! Just a quick little update/non-update:

I was reading Twitter before and came across an interesting article that was posted on the Disney Parks blog. It appears that there is going to be a new game added to Toy Story Mania to go along with the release of Toy Story 3! The article says that it's going to replace the Bo Peep game but I think it's cool they're going to tie in the new movie. All the more reason to go back and ride. :thumbsup2

Also, Dad and I went to see Oceans today. After seeing Earth we were looking forward to seeing the newest Disneynature film. Let me say it didn't disappoint! The movie featured all your typical ocean animals: dolphins, sharks, whales, fish, turtles...But then there were also the not-so-typical creatures. Boy, there are some WEIRD things living in the ocean! :scared1: LOL. Some of the scenes you have to see to believe and even then it's hard to comprehend! The one thing that just blows my mind is the blue whale. At school I was reading a book about whales with one of the fourth graders and we read how big they were but it's just insane how MASSIVE those guys are. They said they are half a block long and weigh 120 TONS.:eek::eek: And then of course there was a little message about conservation too. I had seen a thread on here about the very last line of the movie and what it meant and I have to say it does kind of make you think. :scratchin We'll probably have to buy that one when it comes out on DVD too. There were also previews for Toy Story 3 (that is going to be so awesome) and the next Disneynature movie called African Cats which looked pretty neat too.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. :)

When we went in December a couple years ago we did EMH and it was dark then too but that was obviously later in the year so you'd kind of expect it.

:goodvibes

Because of daylight saving time, sunrise at WDW in late December is about the same as it is in early April. It just is probably going to be a lot cooler.

I figured that Space Mountain would be your first stop. Next time I go to MK, I bet that it will be my first stop too. It was closed last time I was there, so I'd love to see the changes.

Two adults in the Astro Orbiter sounds like a tight fit. :scared: Oh, well. At least the views are nice.

Hi Sarah!

Great report! Thanks for the info on Flights of Wonder....my boys love all kinds of birds/hawks/eagles so I'm looking forward to taking them to that show! Glad you liked it! We've seen the show at Milwaukee zoo too and they loved that - we were sitting up near the top row of bleachers last time and the hawk flew over our heads and landed directly behind us - so close! Kids loved it!

Love your early morning MK pix! We're morning people and all, but I really don't know if we'd even be up and out the door that early!!

Can't believe you got on 4 rides in the first hour - that is excellent! Can't wait to hear about the rest of your day!

Karen

I want to see Oceans so badly!! Glad you enjoyed it.

SO cool about the new game added! I can not wait to play it! My DD is getting Toy Story Mania on Wii for her bday party

Great update! I've never been on Astro Orbiter. I'm not really a heights kinda girl. I'm sure the views are amazing though.

And I'm so excited for the new TSM game. I am, like, addicted to that ride, so it's nice that they can make these little changes. I'd probably get bored of playing the same games eventually.

I read the same thing about TSM too. I'm kind of hoping it will be done when we get there later this month. If not, that's cool. I want to go see Oceans as well, but I just don't have the time before the trip to get ther. We hae something planned for the next two weekends before we head out.

I'll see if I can work some magic on the Buzz tips thread.

Wow, that was an early morning for you two. Isn't it great getting on some rides prior to the mass of people? Glad you enjoyed Oceans, I haven't seen either movie yet, but have heard great things about Earth too. Can't wait to see what you did next on your long day......

haha yeah, it's a little obvious by now what our park plans are.

It kind of reminded me of the Matterhorn in Disneyland but whatever, we survived.

Oh, then I'm sure your kids would LOVE Flights of Wonder! I am going to have to try the show at the zoo again sometime. Heck, I just need to get to the zoo again now that the weather is getting nicer!

Glad you liked the pictures and are enjoying my report so far. :)

I want to see Oceans so badly!! Glad you enjoyed it.

I can't wait for the new game either. :thumbsup2 The video game is fun but just like the ride you will get sore arms. :rotfl:

I agree, it is awesome they can change the games. It makes it even more fun to play over and over.

Bummer you won't be able to get out to see Oceans but YAY for only 2 weekends before you leave!

It was early but still lots of fun and way worth getting up early. I really enjoyed both Earth and Oceans. I think with Earth there might be a bit more "story" because it kind of follows those three animal families but both are great. I'm hoping to have a new update tonight!

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 cont'd (part 3)

After our trip through Tomorrowland, it was getting close to 8:00 which meant the park would be opening for everyone else now. We decided to cut through Fantasyland to get over to Frontierland. After all, we had to complete the "triple mountain whammy." Our only stop in Fantasyland was to grab some fastpasses for Peter Pan's Flight. That's definitely one of my favorites and I know that Dad has told me and my sisters how it's one of the attractions he remembers most from when he was a kid. Maybe he can tell you more about that! hehe We got a little surprise with our FPs: surprise fastpasses for Mickey's Philharmagic! That was pretty cool...the first time that's ever happened to us.

With fastpasses in hand we continued on our way to Frontierland. Now which mountain would we conquer first? Our typical routine is to do Splash Mountain first and then go "dry off" on Thunder Mountain. There were not a whole lot of people in Frontierland so once again we had a literal walk on at Splash. We must've gotten in one of the first couple boats of the day. There was this one couple in front of us who made us switch rows because they were afraid they were going to get really wet. So we ended up in the front row. Dad pointed out the flashing lamp which is an indication for the CMs that the boats are ready to go. :) Then off we went on our journey to the briar patch!

I was tempted to get some on-ride pictures but sadly they didn't turn out. I am one who is a rule follower and I don't like using a flash. I just remember one time we were on POTC and this one family was taking pictures nonstop and somebody came on the PA system and said no flash photography! I was not going to get yelled at...so instead I ended up with a blurry Brer Bear and Brer Fox.

If you read my PTR, you might remember how I made a photo scavenger hunt for myself to get different pictures. One of them was the end of the ride where they have some of the words to Zip-a-dee-do-dah on the walls. Mission accomplished!

Then it was off to BTMRR. Another short wait. We were cruising through the park. :thumbsup2

OK, so this is where things might get a bit out of order but oh well. We ended up going over to Adventureland next where we were able to do Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and the Swiss Family Treehouse. Couple stories from those attractions:

pirate: Pirates of the Caribbean had NO wait at all. We pretty much just walked right through the queue. When we got to the loading area I think the CM told us to just pick a row. There were only a couple other people in our boat with us.

pirate: Our skipper on Jungle Cruise was pretty good. I think the ending was the best part because one of the funniest things happened. While we were waiting to dock he started asking everyone where they were from. Dad said we were from Wisconsin and he was like "me too!". Most people weren't really willing to share for whatever reason but finally someone else did. They said where they were from and he again said "me too!" He ended up saying he was from Nebraska (which is why his jokes were so corny. hahaha) One of the other passengers was like "ME TOO!" to which our skipper said "Really?!" And the guy says no. ha, that was great.

And a few random shots from the Swiss Family Treehouse. I really cannot remember the last time we walked through there so it was interesting to see.

Based on the number of attractions we were able to do already we could tell the park was NOT that crowded. But would it stay that way? :confused3 Stay tuned...

Weird and I were very interested in looking for the flashing lights. I don't think we were able to find it on Splash Mountain because everything happened so quickly before I even realized to look. We did see the flashing lights in the Tinkertoy display in TSM though. Love how these things are so seamlessly incorporated!

UGH, we were waiting for someone to come on the POTC PA system to say no flash photography! Worst part of the vacation with the rudest people! It'll be a while before we get up to that though.
