"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

I know what you mean about the characters. Some were better at interacting with me than others. For the face characters, Belle, Mary Poppins, the fairies, Tiana and Naveen, and Ariel & Eric were all really exceptional. Mulan was not very interactive with me.

Good job on saving Japan! We did that mission too and had a blast. Some of those were pretty tricky!

I love that ToT/Morocco picture! I wouldn't have noticed that at all, they did a fabulous job blending it in.

Hey Sarah!!!! Great update! I just love the F & G festival, Epcot just loves amazing all decked out! Less then a month to go till your next trip now!!! Super jealous! I don't know about you, but I am counting down the days to WWOHP!!! :cool1::dance3:

haha, you'll be going back soon too! I'm jealous that you still have your holiday trip AND your August trip. We are so excited for WWOHP. :cool1:

I remember reading about ToT in the background but forgot to look! So woohoo for the pic! It's amazing to think about how close Epcot and DHS really are. I mean, when you're in the park, you're so immersed in the world that's right in front of you that you forget about the other ones. Pretty amazing!

Haha, hairdresser? I need to get a haircut and get rid of my 10 inches to donate. Can you help me out?

I actually don't think that Mulan looks very Chinese. She looks a little Viet maybe?

Haha, Weird, Matt, and I walked by one of our things so many times in a store, over and over again before realizing it. I wonder if the store people were like, "Hello? It's right there; you stared in that case on more than one occasion already."

It is crazy how close the two parks are.

LOL about the haircut. I don't think I'd make a very good hairdresser. :scared1:

That is the same thing I did with that lantern. It said it was near the castle or palace or whatever. Well, I started walking into it instead of right outside the entrance. I wonder if the CMs kind of have the missions memorized and laugh at people like us trying to find the stuff.

The KP missions always look like such fun! I'm really hoping we do it in September, I think Henry would be amazed to push a button on a phone and have water come down on some rocks, or something light up, etc.! Good job on saving Japan!

The KP missions are a lot of fun. I bet he would like all the effects!

Great update! We've done the Japan KP Mission and I think it is one of the best! That really is a lovely pavillion (but aren't they all.):goodvibes

Thanks! They are all cool once you actually take the time to explore them. I HATED World Showcase when I was younger and couldn't get through it fast enough!

Congrats on saving the world. Japan is a really cool pavillion to explore, but we weren't that impressed with the mission. I think some of the other countries have cooler effects.

That's cool that you got to meet Mulan. I think typically, characters tend to tone it down if someone appears to feel uncomfortable meeting them. If it seems like you're only there for the picture, they might just do a picture and not try to have a conversation or anything. Maybe that's what happened with Mulan?

Really? I've only done a couple of the missions so hopefully eventually I'll get to see all of them. But I think the effects are pretty cool.

Ahhh, that could be. Who knows though.

Great update! popcorn:: I always find it fascinating how Disney goes above and beyond to make sure everything blends in, like they did with Morocco/ToT. They even extend their efforts to the CMs. For example, in Epcot they are not allowed to be "on stage" in costume in France, when they work in Canada. That's called "bad show" Disney never ceases to amaze me.

I agree, it is amazing. The thing with the CMs reminds me of reading about when Disneyland first opened and Walt didn't like the fact that the a cowboy might be seen walking through Tomorrowland.

I love the Kim Possible missions. I used to love the TV show, so the idea of a "real-life" mission made me far more excited than it should have.

It is a little embarassing, though, when "stuff" happens during the missions and all of the people around you turn and stare. I felt like announcing "Just ignore us!! Keep on doing what you were doing!! Nothing to see here!" LOL.

LOL. I don't think I ever watched the show but the missions are still great.

Yeah, that is kind of strange when that happens. I know in the France one we had to go into the area near the theater where they have the movie and one of the things was triggered and people started looking. Oh well.

You forgot to mention that, on our way out to pick up the Kimmunicator, you found another good place to eat. We stopped at the bakery in Norway and picked up a Norwegian club sandwich to split. I split one with Sarah's Mom on our trip in January and thought Sarah might like to share one with me. She liked it a lot, and ended up eating part of my half. So, I picked up a few egg rolls in China on our way out to Japan.

The mission Sarah did in Japan was a little different than the one Claire and I did in January, so there were a few things I hadn't seen before.

Ohhhh yeah, how could I forget about that? That sandwich was really good.

What a neat fact about ToT, it fits in so well that I didn't even recognize it as ToT when I first glanced at your pic, it wasn't until I read what you wrote and looked at closely that I saw it! Disney's attention to detail never ceases to amaze me.

haha, I love your comment because it shows that what they did worked!

I had read that thing about the Tower of Terror looking Moroccan too. I just think that's one of the coolest things ever. I love Disney's dedication to immersing you in the area you're in and seeing nothing else. I know that some of the buildings in Adventureland have Frontierland-ish tops cause you can see them from there, too :)

Yes, I remember reading about that too. So interesting.

I know what you mean about the characters. Some were better at interacting with me than others. For the face characters, Belle, Mary Poppins, the fairies, Tiana and Naveen, and Ariel & Eric were all really exceptional. Mulan was not very interactive with me.

Yeah, when I met the fairies they were great and even on this trip I met Aladdin (which I will be getting to shortly...) and he was pretty good too.

Good job on saving Japan! We did that mission too and had a blast. Some of those were pretty tricky!

I love that ToT/Morocco picture! I wouldn't have noticed that at all, they did a fabulous job blending it in.

Glad I wasn't the only one who found it kind of hard. Still a lot of fun though.

I don't think I would've ever noticed it either until I read about it. I mean, how many times have we walked around WS/looked across the lagoon? I know a couple years ago I took a picture of Morocco too and had no idea about TOT being visible from there.

Yay for saving Japan!! Nick would be so jealous...it's his favorite country at Epcot! We really enjoyed our Kim Possible mission in China! But you know...we completely missed the Chinese zodiac sculptures. We'll have to look for them next time. That was so cool about Morocco and TOT.:thumbsup2 I didn't know that.

That's so cool about ToT. I've never noticed that before!

Yay for saving Japan! I love doing the KP missions because it helps me explore the countries more than I ever would on my own.

In January we did a mission in Norway, while drinking around the world. That was hilarious, because as part of the mission we had to go up to a CM and say "vikings are all the rage" and we were a little tipsy and had drinks in our hand, so he was laughing at us and was like "yes, they are aren't they" As I type this it's not nearly as funny as it was at the time... :rotfl:

It sounds like all of the missions are a lot of fun. Hopefully in August we'll get to try a couple new ones!

I agree, even though I appreciate WS more now than I did when I was younger I still don't spend a lot of time there. It is a great way to explore the pavilions.

LOL, I remember reading someone else's TR and they did the Norway mission and had to say that. That's partly why I want to do the one in Norway just to say that! :rotfl:

I never noticed this. I can't wait to take a picture of this next time and point it out to who ever I am with. I was so baffled by the road that runs underneath the IGW, I never thought that you could see anything from Disney Studios from Epcot.

That's what makes it so cool. Hardly anybody notices it until it's pointed out. :thumbsup2

Saturday, April 10, 2010 cont'd (part 5)

After saving Japan from the Baby Bebes, we were warned there was more evil awaiting us in World Showcase. Did we choose to accept the mission? Of course we did! There must have been lots of villains plotting to destroy the world because we got to choose which country to head to next. So our next mission took us to Germany. We had to hightail it over there in order to get our instructions from KP’s friend (I always forget his name…is it Wayne???) The gist of this mission was there was a pretzel maker who had some dangerous (poisonous?!) recipe or whatever.

Again I won’t ruin the specifics of the mission but it was another fun one. The ending had one of the cooler interactive bits. It was funny because there’s always other people doing the same mission so we set the thing off a bunch of times in a row. Haha! We decided we had had enough of the villains for one day so we returned our Kimmunicator. Dad and I think it’s pretty neat how the return slots blend in with the pavilions.

We ended up circling around WS, enjoying more of the flower displays and meeting a few more characters.

A random picture of Japan. Funny I took this AFTER our mission there.

It must’ve been the day of unique characters, atleast in terms of the ones I have met before, because I also saw Princess Aurora and Aladdin. That Aladdin was so cool! He was interacting with everyone, both the younger kids and older people as well. When it was my turn he asked me what my name was. I told him Sarah and then he asked me if I knew that Sarah meant princess. I told him that I sure did know it means princess! Haha So he told me I had to make a princess pose for the picture. I kind of hate how it turned out (I think I sort of look like a fool, LOL!) but it was still a cute idea. Definitely a great interaction!

After finishing our tour of WS we decided to head out. If you read my PTR you might remember how I said I wanted to go mini golfing since we weren’t able to in August. We ended up hopping on the bus to Coronado Springs/Blizzard Beach to drop us off at Winter Summerland. We spotted the Tron monorail, or as Dad calls it, the Tronorail.

28349_641340586364_20305212_36913149_238060_n.jpg

While we were driving around at CSR I was really kind of surprised at how huge it is. Usually when we’ve stopped there it’s only been on the Magical Express. I had no idea it was that big. We had to stop at all the different resort areas before continuing on to Blizzard Beach.

28349_641341699134_20305212_36913154_6509346_n.jpg

There are two courses to play at Winter Summerland. We have played both in the past and I’ve always thought the winter one was a bit easier. This time we decided to play the summer course, mostly because there weren’t as many people on that one. Dad and I got our clubs and were set to play. We didn’t bother keeping score, we just play for the fun of it.

One of the things I love about the mini golf courses is how they tell a story. Each hole has a little poem that tells you about that particular hole. So clever.

28349_641341709114_20305212_36913155_7892039_n.jpg

Since there weren’t too many people on the summer course I am pretty sure there were a couple times when Dad tried the hole a couple of times. Haha!

A couple more pictures from the course…gotta love the Christmas lights and music too.

At the last hole we got a message from Santa, who appeared to be vacationing somewhere warm. I also enjoyed the brand of computer. ;) PC on Earth!

When we completed our round we returned our clubs and got a souvenir golf ball. Another perk of the mini golf courses. Free stuff!

And don’t forget, if you have an AP you can get a 50% discount! :)

Then we took the bus back to Kidani for an afternoon break.

That Princess Auroa is a little frightening.

My boyfriend saw me reading it and has now decided that we should go play mini-golf (or "putt-putt") when we go down :rotfl:

Meeting Aladdin :lovestruc is a high priority for me this trip. I love him (Aladdin's been one of my favorite movies since I was little), but I've never met him. It sounds like he's a pretty cool guy to meet.

Winter Summerland looks so cool!! One of these trips, I am going to find time to squeeze a round of mini-golf in.

Love all of the mini golf pictures. We want to try that next trip. And I didn't know you got 50% off with an AP. That is a great thing to know! (Just hope I remember it when we go in January.)

Kim's friend is Wade. Um, I think. Haha, the guy who gave us our Kimmunicator was dead serious (in a fun way) about our mission. I loved that he treated it like a real mission even though I'm obviously not a kid! I do wish we had the option to do another mission!

Weird, Matt, and I all loved the return slots! We got excited when we saw the one in France even though we weren't there for our mission.

I like your Aladdin photo! It's a unique pic because if he's normally with Jasmine, that pose isn't as easily done, haha. But oy, looking at Aurora in the sun in that costume makes me sweaty!

Haha, love the elves in the sand!

Wow.. saving the world twice in one day. You must be exhausted! :rotfl: How cool you have a good interaction with Aladdin! We never seem to have any luck with face characters. They look at us like "no kids" and don't really talk to us.

We've never been mini-golfing at Disney. We like mini-golfing, so I don't know why we haven't. Thanks for the tip about the AP discount, I didn't realize it was 50%! I think we're going to go in September!

Glad you had fun doing the KP missions!

We've never done mini-golf at Disney. That course looks cute-I like all the funny gag lines.

Um, why is Sleeping Beauty so pale and ah, creepy looking? I can't wait to do more KP missions. Norway and Germany sound fun!

I like your Aladdin picture! You can tell you're having a blast. It's so fun when the characters interact with you.

The mini golfing looks like tons of fun. Love all your pictures. Some day we'll get there!

The KP missions are so much fun! Glad you were able to save Germany too!!:thumbsup2 Great picture with Aladdin!! Love your mini-golf pics! We were supposed go in April too...but then we changed our plans and we missed out again. Hopefully, we can make it next time! The boys love playing mini-golf!:)
