"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

I totally remember Cranium Command and Body Wars. They were favorites of mine - along with the original JII, of course. Totally sad that the building is just sitting there, those attractions had a nostalgic cheesiness about them that I miss terribly.

That's funny about that little girl. When my sister was little and she's get scared on all kinds of rides she'd announce "I'm closing my eyes now" and my dad would have to carry her out of the ride and announce we were out of it before she'd open them. At 23, she still won't go on HM!

Cranium command was a great show, so funny. I hated Body wars though, it just made me so nauseated.:confused3

The pictures of the flowers are so beautiful, it sure didn't look that pretty here in WI in April. I am sure you really enjoyed it.

I've heard so much about Cranium Command and Body Wars, I so wish I had seen them! It is sad that the building just sits there empty. Hopefully they will start to do something with it soon...IMO Epcot Futureworld could use a bit more.

That picture of the gardens with the sign and the building in the background is BEAUTIFUL! It just captures EPCOT and the F&GF perfectly!

I think that we only managed to go to Wonders of Life once. I would love to go in there again and look around even if all the attractions are no longer there. Maybe it will be open as the festival center for Food and Wine.

I think I know where you're going next. Looking forward to hearing about your adventure.

Thanks for sharing your F & GF pictures! We've been a couple times during that, but not in several years. I do miss seeing all the flowers & displays. I love how they had Fairy Houses set up! What a great idea---I think I'll have to get one for our yard... :tinker:

And I really like that picture you took of all the flowers with the sign that says, 'Festival Blooms' in it!

Also, I have never even set foot in the Wonders of Life Pavilion nor seen the original Journey into Imagination! :upsidedow I'm sure I don't know what I missed.

YES I REMEMBER CRANIUM COMMAND. I loved Cranium Command. It was so fun and SO 80'S! And... BODY WARS! In the same pavilion. Way smoother simulator than Star Tours, if you ask me. Sheesh, Disney. Sheesh.

haha, I never did Body Wars and have yet to try Star Tours. :rolleyes1

i love figment! i miss the old one also!! he was my favorite... i think when i was little i called him fignewton lik ethe cookie! lol

i miss disney today...

Aww, that is too funny. Fignewton, I like that. Maybe he can be Figment's friend.

Too funny about the little girl on Living with the Land. Some kids are scared of all kinds of rides. I remember the first time I took my kids to Disneyland they were 4 and 2. We mistakenly took the 2 year old on Peter Pan for his first ride and he freaked out. Too dark in there. The rest of the trip he was scared of every single inside ride. Even It's a Small World. (Which granted can be a little scary;)) Anyway we then took him to Disney World when he was 4 years old. We'd talked up going on Peter Pan and he was so excited. Until we walked up to the ride. He saw the queue and turned around screaming in terror through Fantasyland:laughing: Luckily it was early and FL wasn't crowded. Anyway I had no idea he had any memory of the 2 year old experience, but he obviously did. We finally got him on Peter Pan when he was almost 6, but it tooked all kinds of bribery and he was terrified and shaking the whole time we were in line. Once he rode it he loved it. But my point is some kids are just scared of rides. Obviously this little girl was one of those kids. (Sorry for the long story.)

Oh no! Glad that he finally liked Peter Pan. It's a classic. I guess I shouldn't really talk, I used to be pretty terrified of Chuck E. Cheese (Mickey was OK though ). I just thought it was kind of funny since Living with the Land is pretty tame.

They used to have the pavilion be seasonal I think. Now when you go in there there aren't even any signs of any of those attractions. :guilty:

haha, I was scared at first to ride HM. I like it now but it is kind of creepy especially if you get stuck.

Cranium command was a great show, so funny. I hated Body wars though, it just made me so nauseated.:confused3

Yeah, I have a feeling I probably would not have liked Body Wars. Anything with a motion simulator is not for me.

Thanks for the compliment on the pictures. The park was so pretty with all the different flowers.

It would be nice if they would put something in there. There's no point just using it for the two festivals, atleast IMO. :confused3 As for Cranium Command I wonder if it's on youtube at all...that would be amusing.

Thanks! I loved how that picture turned out. :thumbsup2

I am almost positive they use the pavilion for Food and Wine.

haha, yeah, it's not too hard to guess where we went next!

You're welcome. Glad you liked all the pictures. The fairy houses were so cute. The detail was amazing.

The original Journey Into Imagination was great. Awww I miss it. Not one of Disney's best decisions to change it.

I think the tour security should let the contestants see the fans. The people who would go there are going to be AI fans, and they're the ones who voted! I think it's more important than just any celebrity or artist and his/her fans!

How cute are you to give the descriptions for the fairies!!! Haha, I do really like it though because others usually just put the names, which is really all that I could do since I haven't seen the movie.

Boo, she should've let you pick your sticker! I mean, it doesn't make any difference to her, and obviously if you were there and your dad asked, you wanted a sticker!

Hehe, I thought that maybe you were going to say that the little girl started freaking out with the buffalo ;) I wouldn't have blamed her for that! Actually, I don't blame her for the rainforest scene either!

I remember Cranium Command! The only reason my mom and I went to watch it was because the rest of the group wanted to ride Body Wars. Memories of Buzzy! I'd like to revisit the Wonders of Life pavilion and see where Finn and his buddies were!

Aww...we love Living with the Land! Too funny about the little girl wondering if it was going to be scary. It sounds like my boys! Although...they were much better this trip.:thumbsup2 I think some kids are just afraid of the unknown.:confused3 I've never seen the original Figment. But..you are not the first person I've heard say that it was much better. Beautiful F&G pictures!:goodvibes

Exactly. And it's not like there were that many people waiting. Of course when Lee came out a lot more people did start coming over.

Yeah, that's kind of why I put the little descriptions since some people may not have seen the movies. I think they are adorable even if they're kids movies. :)

And it figures I get the sticker of the mean fairy.:rolleyes: Oh well.

LOL, nope, but as I was typing that update I was thinking of you after your Living with the Land post!

That is true...heck, even when I do a new ride for the first time I'm a little bit nervous. :rolleyes1 Aww, such a bummer you didn't get to see the original Figment. It was great. :thumbsup2

OK, so I have 29 days to finish this TR up...let's see if I can do it.

Saturday, April 10, 2010 cont'd (part 4)

After exploring Future World it was getting close to the opening time for World Showcase so we started walking over there. Plus, we had our "fastpass" for the Kim Possible mission! :cool1: Yes, I love doing those. It is a great way to explore many of the WS pavilions. On the way over we got to enjoy some more of the F&GF displays.

I loved the festival banners.

As we were walking around I took a couple pictures across World Showcase Lagoon. Another bit of Disney trivia I learned from the Hidden Magic book. See another Disney icon in the background of this picture? Apparently when they were building TOT they figured out it was visible from the Epcot (and was part of the Morocco skyline) so they tried to make it blend in with Morocco! Now honestly, who would EVER notice that if you weren't really looking for it? I had to take the pic though after I had read it!

Italy...

We started our walk around WS by going clockwise. We passed Mexico and then found ourselves in China.

I really wanted to see all the Chinese zodiac thingies (sculptures?!). I was born in 1985, aka the year of the Ox. It was interesting reading the sign in front that gives the supposed qualities of people born in the year of the ox. Don't really know how accurate it was. haha

In case you are wondering, this is what it said:

A born leader, you inspire confidence from all around you. You are conservative, methodical, and good with your hands. Guard against being chauvinistic and always demanding your own way. The ox would be successful as a skilled surgeon, general, or hairdresser.

(hairdresser???? :scared1:)

I also wanted to stop in China because I saw Mulan was out and I had never met her before. I have to admit though, sometimes I feel a little strange going up to the characters (mostly the face characters) because you see them interacting/having a good time with the little ones. There was a younger girl meeting Mulan before me and she was talking to her. Well, when it was my turn all I got was a "hello." Ohhhh well. Maybe it's strange for them too. Still cool I got to meet her though.

Continuing on our way, we saw Snow White and the seven dwarfs, only in topiary form.

Then we reported to the KP station to pick up our Kimmunicator for our mission. We were told to head over to Japan where there was some trouble brewing...our mission? We had to save the world from the Baby Bebes! I guess Dad and Claire did the Japan mission in January so he was going to let me do it on my own. I won't spoil the whole mission but dang, I felt so stupid trying to find some of those things! It was kind of hard! LOL. It took me forever to find this stupid lantern. I definitely walked right past it a couple of times and I think I only found it because I used the help on the Kimmunicator. :rolleyes1

28349_641340536464_20305212_36913140_2448637_n.jpg

One of the other fun things is all the interactive displays that you activate with your Kimmunicator. See the water streaming down the rocks? Yep, that was because of me! hehe

Some of the fish in the pond...

I really haven't been into the Japan pavilion and I have to say it is so pretty. I loved walking around and taking in the environment while trying to help save the world. ;)

Like I said, I don't want to give too many spoilers but it was a fun time and we saved Japan. But wait...there were more evil villains plotting to destroy the world! Did we accept the challenge???? Stay tuned...popcorn::

Hey Sarah!!!! Great update! I just love the F & G festival, Epcot just loves amazing all decked out! Less then a month to go till your next trip now!!! Super jealous! I don't know about you, but I am counting down the days to WWOHP!!! :cool1::dance3:

I remember reading about ToT in the background but forgot to look! So woohoo for the pic! It's amazing to think about how close Epcot and DHS really are. I mean, when you're in the park, you're so immersed in the world that's right in front of you that you forget about the other ones. Pretty amazing!

Haha, hairdresser? I need to get a haircut and get rid of my 10 inches to donate. Can you help me out?

I actually don't think that Mulan looks very Chinese. She looks a little Viet maybe?

Haha, Weird, Matt, and I walked by one of our things so many times in a store, over and over again before realizing it. I wonder if the store people were like, "Hello? It's right there; you stared in that case on more than one occasion already."

The KP missions always look like such fun! I'm really hoping we do it in September, I think Henry would be amazed to push a button on a phone and have water come down on some rocks, or something light up, etc.! Good job on saving Japan!

Great update! We've done the Japan KP Mission and I think it is one of the best! That really is a lovely pavillion (but aren't they all.):goodvibes

Congrats on saving the world. Japan is a really cool pavillion to explore, but we weren't that impressed with the mission. I think some of the other countries have cooler effects.

That's cool that you got to meet Mulan. I think typically, characters tend to tone it down if someone appears to feel uncomfortable meeting them. If it seems like you're only there for the picture, they might just do a picture and not try to have a conversation or anything. Maybe that's what happened with Mulan?

Great update! popcorn:: I always find it fascinating how Disney goes above and beyond to make sure everything blends in, like they did with Morocco/ToT. They even extend their efforts to the CMs. For example, in Epcot they are not allowed to be "on stage" in costume in France, when they work in Canada. That's called "bad show" Disney never ceases to amaze me.

I love the Kim Possible missions. I used to love the TV show, so the idea of a "real-life" mission made me far more excited than it should have.

It is a little embarassing, though, when "stuff" happens during the missions and all of the people around you turn and stare. I felt like announcing "Just ignore us!! Keep on doing what you were doing!! Nothing to see here!" LOL.

You forgot to mention that, on our way out to pick up the Kimmunicator, you found another good place to eat. We stopped at the bakery in Norway and picked up a Norwegian club sandwich to split. I split one with Sarah's Mom on our trip in January and thought Sarah might like to share one with me. She liked it a lot, and ended up eating part of my half. So, I picked up a few egg rolls in China on our way out to Japan.

The mission Sarah did in Japan was a little different than the one Claire and I did in January, so there were a few things I hadn't seen before.

What a neat fact about ToT, it fits in so well that I didn't even recognize it as ToT when I first glanced at your pic, it wasn't until I read what you wrote and looked at closely that I saw it! Disney's attention to detail never ceases to amaze me.

I had read that thing about the Tower of Terror looking Moroccan too. I just think that's one of the coolest things ever. I love Disney's dedication to immersing you in the area you're in and seeing nothing else. I know that some of the buildings in Adventureland have Frontierland-ish tops cause you can see them from there, too :)
